Test Drive Meme 024
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun.
Happy testing!
Crisis On… A fairground
The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.
Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.
How hard can running a fairground me? Well very hard when so much has gone wrong. Is it sabotage? Is it bad luck? Shoddy engineering? No mater what it is the important thing is rides are breaking, people are in danger, there’s temperature fluctuations in the fun house and the banshee in the ghost house won’t stop screaming. This is perhaps one of the more light hearted scenario’s in Crisis On but brings it’s own level of stress. Good luck keeping everyone safe and pacifying those angry guests.
Jam Session
Downstairs in the music carriage there are a variety of instruments. Mostly smaller instruments (a guitar is the largest instrument there). There are a couple of each type. There is however an entire box of recorders, another box of panpipes and a box of mixed small percussion instruments (symbols, shakers etc). There are music stands small stools to sit on are stacked along the wall. There are folders of various sheet music as well as some ‘learn to play’ books.
When there is only one practice room well then it is the perfect time to learn to play together. No matter the skill level, instrument or music preference. Playing music together is a good team bonding activity after all.
Or perhaps everyone is just playing their own thing, descending into chaos.
Jungle Heights
The latest mission has taken them to a vast jungle, where people live high in the trees. There has been an influx of tree dwelling creatures with sharp teeth, sharper claws and a love of destruction. To make things better the forest floor is not safe, damp and marshy many creatures lurk there ready to bite at ankles and it is home to a root, the sap of which burns.Team One
Treetop fighting is an acquired skill and one the voidtreckers are having to learn quickly. Swing on vine ropes and tangle with monsters. Quick movement and quicker thinking is needed to take down the creatures in terrain they are naturals at traversing.Team Two
People here live on platforms in the trees, with bridges and walkways connecting them. Fend off the creatures and chase them away from peoples homes. At least there is slightly solider ground beneath their feet, but they must be careful not to fall to the jungle floor beneath.Team Three
Many of the people here are not fighters and they need help to get somewhere safer. It's a tough journey through the forest, especially when they leave the bridges and platforms of the village behind. Children may need carried and climbing from one tree to another is difficult even with sturdy branches to walk along.
They must be careful to stay in the trees, avoid getting too close to the forest floor but do not get too high, lest they attract the creatures.

Pumkin | Baman Piderman | yes I'm serious
FAIRGROUNDS:
Pumkin really was enjoying getting to play games, instead of being used as a gaming station. The VR games were so neat! It was like you were really in all these fantastic scenarios, but couldn't get hurt. Fun!
Maybe not so much right now as he's trying to get the banshee in the ghost house to stop screaming. Usually he'd be more scared, but he's started to get used to ghost stuff from back home. Not that he's not cautiously and hesitantly coming into the ghost house. Wringing his fingers as he comes over to the upset, she must be to be screaming so much, banshee.
Holding a finger up he'll try to get her to quiet down, which doesn't work, then he pat pats the side of his head where ears would be. See? Loud? Shh. Okay not working. Uhhh... he'll pull out some paper and makes a cute little paper heart. Ta da!
A present! He offers it out gingerly... and she just screams louder. Pumkin scampers out and slumps against the door, sighing silently.
JAM SESSION:
Now this was something Pumkin could get into! Finding the music carriage was a nice surprise for him, even if it just makes him miss his friends back home.
Digging around in the box of percussion stuff he finds a triangle and is quite estatic. He's very good at the triangle, a pro you could say. Giving it a ding he'll perk up happily.
jam session;
It's so bizarre and yet something in him says to smile, which he does just before piping up, “Sounds like you know what you're doing to me.”

Freeza | Dragon Ball Z/Super
For as prickly a newcomer as Freeza has been up to this point, he seems to at least cotton onto the purpose of the simulation rather quickly. At least this time around; you may have seen a playthrough where he may have exploded a few things to end a problem. No more rides: no more breakdowns. It's not as though the logic wasn't sound, but just not the aim of THIS simulation, so he's been convinced to take a second go at it.
The alien may look agitated the entire time, but he does as is required of him. Passengers are lifted from failing contraptions -- often by seeming ki, just lifting into the air, but once or twice by hand, foot, and tail (with his grumbling the entire way), and you might even see him taking a crack at some of the malfunctioning electricals.
[Jam Session]
Oh, investigating this car had been a mistake. When confronted with the cacophony of noise, it took some time to ascertain it was supposed to be music. His nose curls derisively, thoughts of marching parades of teddy bears and chiding fairies dancing through his mind unbidden. And at any offer to pick up an empty seat and an instrument leaves his floating form to come back away several inches and his tail to recoil.
"I think not."
[Jungle Heights - Team One]
One advantage in treetop battles where the enemy is adept traversing trunks, vines, and branches is to have one or more people on the job who can ignore pesky things like gravity. Having more than two limbs that are capable of grabbing things isn't too bad an idea to have, either, but Freeza does his very best not to swing too much from branches or vines in a setting far too suited for monkeys than creatures born in the stars, thank you very much. He makes for a more difficult target when he has a tendency to stop in places with empty air rather than a branch or thick blanket of canopy to roost in, and despite the compromised space (and being ne of very few stark white creatures in the denser parts of the jungle) is no slower when taking to a chosen target or targets.
Notable is that he uses very little in the way of visible ki beyond flight (of course), and despite his smaller frame, he handles and dispatches even creatures much larger than him with a speed and brute force that the uninitiated are not going to expect of him.
If anything, this is practice.
[Wildcard]
(Freeza can be found in various places throughout the train. Exploration seems to be the only balm for how small it is to him, so general wandering is a go. If he's not using the facilities to exercise [often very early or very late, whenever there is likely to be fewer people] he's in his bunk, seated lotus style on his bed and seems to be meditating. This is not what he is doing. This is also, strangely enough, exercise. He doesn't sleep as often, maybe once every few nights you might catch him actually using his bunk for that. If his team is assigned any onboard duties [cooking, laundry, etc] he appears to know what he's doing, which should be confusing for anyone that knows anything about him. Pleas just lmk in the subject heading what car you wanna set the scene in so I can re-read up on it! Thanks.)
Jungle Heights - Team One
But now that he's up there, he's found a thick branch to camp out on. Sees a rush of white and purple occasionally through the foliage. No clue what's causing that, but he's assuming it's crew.
Though Freeza probably stands very little risk, Yondu doesn't know that, so when he sees one of the creatures leap for the floating shape through the leaves from what he assumes is a blind spot his arrow flies by in a streak of red, taking it out, before cutting a nimble path through the branches back to Yondu's hand.

Xehanort | Kingdom Hearts |
Xehanort had been assigned to team three. It wasn't a particularly challenging job for those not really combat-oriented, and while he certainly could fight when he had to, those skills were still rather somewhat.. repressed.
And besides which he'd disappeared about four minutes after arriving in the village.
Not without thought and planning! Everyone else seemed to have things well under control as it is, he'd surely simply get in the way ... and besides which, there's these trees and plants and animals. He'd heard a warning from one of the natives not long after arrival, to be careful of some of the plants far below, for they would burn or worse if not careful.
And that's where he's gone.
Finding the young researcher isn't.. terribly ... difficult if one happens to be in one of the other teams, since they're actually out here fighting; it doesn't help that he's not bothering with a LICK of camoflague and is only paying the barest attention to his surroundings, focused utterly on his self-appointed task and perched precariously on a fat vine and working very delicately on prying loose a feathery root with a pair of what looks like bone tongs likely confiscated from above, a small glass jar in the other hand. A small series of OTHER jars sit nearby, of visibly different composition. Where root has already been torn, sap drips, hissing when it spatters on the ground or other plant life.
Jam Session
"Are you using this?"
There's a carriage full of musical instruments! Someone's clearly looking out for the acoustic needs of the train!
That someone is not Xehanort. The young man's back in his favored lab coat, though the train's uniform is underneath it, and while his tone is unfailingly polite there's an itchiness to his tone and bearing that suggests he really, REALLY hopes the answer is 'no' and he can take what he pleased.
In this case, the 'this' he's referring to is a violin, of more classical make, with natural gut strings. He doesn't really look like he intends to play it though..
Crisis on a... train, tbh
Xehanort's not participating in this virtual reality trip. He hasn't even touched the system yet.
But he's watching anyone else interested in playing with it, silent and unmoving except for the occasional pause to jot inside a small notebook he's carrying. He does in fact understand the idea of a video game system! He's interacted with computers before! ... But that's very different from putting on a helmet and letting it just override his senses and do whatever it pleased.
So he's watching, and waiting, and observing how others deal with it. If there's side effects. Risks that make it worthwhile.
Being studied might not be particularly comfortable.
[Will match format. Wildcard option open!]
team three
Scowling, Murderbot adds its current 'load' to another's, mentioning it'll be right back, before heading off in the direction of the drone that's spotted the wayward researcher. Before too long...
"What do you think you're doing?!"
Don't mind this thing just. Sort of popping in in front of you, and maybe stepping on that plant. Maybe intentionally.

Kiyoiri Matsuda | DCMK/FGO AU-OC | haha oh god
[CRISIS ON...]
Rather frankly, this wouldn't be the first time she was in a situation where she had little to no assistance for the task, but speaking honestly it's probably the first one she signed on for personally.
The young teenager- maybe 14, maybe not- is garbed in the expected women's uniform of the fairground staff in the simulator, her hair loosely braided behind her. Blue eyes narrow at the scene before her, but frankly, the bigger question is how she can just...stand there.
Looking over the panel of controls for the Banshee.
While. It. Screams.
"Hmn... ...I don't think anything bad will happen if we just unplug it, but I think the point of the game is to fix it instead..."
Also, she looks frighteningly like Conan, but that's hardly important right?
[JAM SESSION]
Kiyoiri might look like Conan, but if there's one thing she's nailed better than him, it's music. (Eat your heart out, mister 'perfect pitch')
And it's not that Chaldea didn't have any musical options- indeed, they had a few Heroic Spirits who were intent on teaching them one thing or another, even if the lessons were somewhat concerning in a few cases. Amadeus was one thing. But god help them when Salieri or the Phantom were around.
A nice, normal music carriage with instruments and sheets and recording devices however, makes for a much more fun choice in musical flexing however.
Which is why-
"...Dandy-lion..~"
Well, she's singing from memory, but her memory is pretty good if she's being honest, and Yoko was always a nice choice. At the very least, the crow perched on the music stand seems to enjoy it, occasionally croaking a copied 'DANDY! LION!' off tune with her.
[JUNGLE HEIGHTS]
When it comes to the jungle, the greatest option for a Servant is someone familiar with the woods and muck. An archer, preferably- someone who can strike from afar, strike with ease...
Takechirou the crow has taken the form of...a child.
"No...why this one..." Kiyoiri seems dismayed, albeit only slightly- though her expression is clearly upset with the whole matter, where most would have their heads in their hands at this point, she seems more resigned to the whole matter from where she stands on one of the tree platforms. It seems they're just getting started on things.
Takechirou- rather...'Kid Gilgamesh', simply smiles (an 'in character' one, to his credit) and- "Strong archer! Friendly archer!"
Kiyoiri doesn't respond to that, apparently stuck on the internal debate on if she should drop a necessary bombshell or not. The cost is breaking a poor bird's heart after all, oh dear...well.
She's stuck with this for a week now, so the girl just sighs, tying her braid back in a loop so it doesn't get in the way of things. "...Okay," she finally says. "Let's find people then." Hard to do medical work if there's no one to treat, and all that.
dandylion
(Well, not really, since it would've been much better if they were still back home together... but outside of that, this was the best possible scenario.)
First nodding along with the song, then humming softly to the tune, Ayumi finally can't help herself and croons a soft,] Dandy-lion...~ [in time with Kiyoiri.]

Kairi | Kingdom Hears AU
Fairgrounds:
Kairi couldn't help but smile as she got settled into the VR machine. It wasn't every day that she could just enter some sort of VR world and not be attacked by some strange super villain or random Heartless that showed up to cause trouble.
Oh, sure the game was causing a lot of trouble what with the screaming banshee that JUST WOULDN'T SHUT UP, but she was actually having fun, especially since she was easily helping people trying to just having fun themselves.
"Haaa, time limit or no, it feels better when I'm not rushing..."
Jam Session:
Kairi winced as she plucked the strings of a guitar, realizing she hit a wrong string in trying to remember her notes. Oh, sure, she had plenty of practice no matter if it was with Matt Olson and his band or with Gwen Stacy and her band, but when trying to save the multiverse from the dark or regular supervillains, it's hard to remember which one to hit at times.
"Ohhhh-kay. Not good. Let's try that again." Kairi muttered. She'll hit the strings again before hitting another wrong string. "Guh! I'm really out of practice here!"
Jungle Heights:
Team One
With so many of the worlds she visited before this being mostly cities, being able to traverse the jungle was easy for Kairi, but she knew that she needed distance. She needed time to cast magic, but they weren't giving her the time of day.
"Okay, new key time!" she said, swapping out the keychain on the Starlight Keyblade with one bearing a stylized lightning bolt. "EMBIGGEN!" the Keyblade changed, turning red and blue, the teeth at the end now resembling a large fist and the blade lengthening. "Now... BACK OFF!"
Team Three:
Evacuation? She can do evacuation. Kairi's trying her best, though, to keep the civilians safe. One jerk, though, decided she wasn't being helpful enough and shoved her off the branch she was on. She was able to catch a branch with her Keyblade, but that left her at the mercy of the creatures down below.
"Uh, little help here!"
Wildcard
(OoC: Hit me up with other ideas!)
Team Three
He reaches out a hand and a pathway of ice extends from his foothold down to just beneath Kairi's feet, a rough texture forming on the top to provide traction and tall walls on each side to serve as railings. It's nothing particularly fancy, but supports holding it fast to the sides of trees mean it's sturdy, and, most importantly, it's fast.
"Here you are, that ought to be sufficient to get you back on your feet."

Jungle Heights - Team 1
Alright Alright Alright! What have we got here~
Avaax wasn't the only one out hunting monsters today. Who knows! Someone might even score himself a decent meal. Might be a poisonous one, too, but who's counting? He's probably eaten worse.
"Well, look at what the train dragged in! Didn't expect to see you around these parts, Brother." It's one of his old friends. Or enemies. But, let's be real, aren't all acquaintances a little bit of both? Ha! Drifter sits idly on a sturdy tree branch, dangling his leg in that particularly too casual way of his and letting his sniper rifle sit across his lap, eyeing the hunter from aloft.
"You decided if it beats doin' bounties yet?" The downtime is a killer.

Elidibus | Final Fantasy XIV AU | Spoilers!
[ CRISIS ON ]
When Elidibus saw fit to tell his team for this simulated 'training exercise' that he was an Emissary, he was not yet aware of the true horror which awaited him.
Customer Service.
Against the darkened skyline, the Ferris wheel was currently spinning. Ordinarily, this would be a sign that something is functioning correctly, but the stream of flames billowing in the wake of at least five carriages belies the principle of safety. He'd seen some of the mortals waiting in line to complain turn and begin recording the event on their devices of Allagan-like handheld variety and mention it looked just like a 'Catherine wheel'.
Yes, he supposed it was somewhat torturous for those still trapped on the Ferris wheel. And how typical of mortal man to be so entertained by someone else's torment. Maybe one day someone will explain there's a firework by the same name to him.
"Are you even LISTENING to me?" came the irate rise in octave and tone from the woman currently berating the Ascian clad in human flesh. She was accompanied by a pre-teen youth who looked like he wanted to be anywhere but right there beside his mother. Yes, the Emissary had been listening. It was hard not to hear the tirade and unreasonable demands she had been making. Elidibus brings his Full Attention to bear on the VR-generated avatar whom he is supposed to be treating as a Real Person With Feelings.
"Madam, I do not feel there would be a need to present to you a full 'season's pass' for your entire family in light of the fact just you and the youth had entered the gates only somewhat before this crisis began. I assure you that a full refund of today's ticket price will be issued with apologies for the lack of entertainment the park can present for you at this time." Elidibus offers a polite but distant smile. Purely unflappable and businesslike. "I now direct your attention to the exits staff are using to evacuate attendees to safety. I suggest you make use of them without further delay. Pray retain your refund vouchers, as the park cannot issue another for those which are lost."
Without anything to latch onto, the AI piloting the woman's responses gives up. Gesturing angrily to her son, she walks off as a figure vibrating with rage and indignation. After watching for a moment longer, Elidibus picks up the walkie-talkie he was issued and clicks the button to speak to the other members of his team.
"Be on your guard. A female matching this description," consider the description outlined here, "and accompanied by one male youth may seek to endanger herself or others. Since you have deemed me most fit to remain in attendance of this," mortal rabble, "line of customers, I am unable to leave my post."
[ JAM SESSION ]
Far be it for Elidibus to question the arbitrary decisions on which space should be more efficient (sleeper cabins), and which may have a looser interpretation of space allotment (a single train car devoted to musical instruments and a single practice room but for a whole host of people). Questioning a decision about the correct course of matters is his job on his world. And even so, he had recent reason to wonder if perchance he'd been wrong...
Fortunately, the music room seems to provide something of a distraction from a session of such contemplations. And while his preferred choice is not present, there are other options. A contemplation of the available instruments and more deeply on the chronicled memories of his brothers and sisters bequeathed to him in those last moments. Yes, this. Elidibus reaches out and grasps one.
People wandering in and out of the train car will discover him here for a while. It might not be called truly masterful, but it isn't completely amateurish either. Songs from the world he fought a very long time to save. Pieces he'd heard others humming on the train and decided to try and imitate for the challenge. Bits that might be an original composition slowly adapted from the piano he prefers to be played and replayed upon the instrument he chose; a violin.
He doesn't reject interruptions or accompaniment, but his reactions to them may well be shaped by how these interjections occur.
[ JUNGLE HEIGHTS ]
Team Three
Elidibus can fight inventively, defend, and guide. That being said the latter two seem to be in order, given his assignment to Team 3. Any mild disdain he may privately be feeling for mortal species in general is set aside for the performance of his duties.
The strength of his borrowed body is also a useful tool in this specific set of circumstances. Fashioning ways to carry some of the younger children while leaving himself free to climb was simple and the added weight doesn't appear to slow him down much. With the novelty of the climb has, fortunately, become more interesting than the terror of what they are being evacuated from, the children are at least no longer trying to throttle his neck overly much.
It really would be an inconvenient waste if he was required to construct a new one.
Finally, he voices a query that's been on his mind since the beginning of the evacuation to a nearby teammate. "Are we to expect a safe area prepared at this journey's end or is it expected that we secure an appropriate location by ourselves?"
[Wildcards welcome. Will change format if desired.]
VR
Unfortunately he's regretted that decision ever since. Knowing it's not real helps somewhat. But only somewhat. Some people play games to reach the goals, get high scores, or build the biggest castles.
Some take the ladder out of their Sims' pools.
"What precisely is the point of this game again?"
A walkie-talkie response.. to go with the call that had gone out. Where it's coming from is a good question, the simulation is fairly large, and he and Elidibus may not have actually crossed paths yet.
"Games are for entertainment, even this sort..?"

Jeremy Heere | Be More Chill (musical)
[ It doesn't really matter where Jeremy is since he found this car. There's no question about it. There are beanbags and video games. He's home.
So it's been a couple hours of grinding Knight's Quest and Jeremy is well aware that he's working up a sweat. His emergency deodorant is nowhere at hand, so that leaves plan B: sprawl out on a beanbag and check out whatever old-school games this place has got. Ticket to Ride... Colt Express... Whistle Stop... Ages of Steam and-- Thoma-- Jesus. Are none of these single-player? Way to make him bad about not playing a two-player game for once in his life.
Reluctantly, Jeremy turns to the Duel Monster cards. He doesn't need to read the rules or anything, but he can't actually keep anything he builds. It's not like people give this shit out for free. But there's no "DO NOT TOUCH" sign, so...
He's squinting at the ATK/DEF and trying to put together a decent Magnet Warrior deck, so he's not exactly paying attention to anything else - not even when someone else enters the carriage. If someone surprises him, he'll probably make some kind of ridiculous squeak and think he's been caught red-handed, so be nice. ]

He's been alone so long. Trying to figure out this train for so goddamn long all on his own. Trying to be a hero, even when all he wanted was to be home and be a normal fucking kid.
But he doesn't have to be alone anymore. Maybe not completely. He takes a few careful steps into the game carriage, before finally finding his voice again.]

Tani | Ni No Kuni 2
Music is an important part of Sky Pirate culture, and even she’s in a completely different place, Tani is intrigued by the choice of musical instruments. Some of them are completely foreign to her, but a few do seem familiar. Like the different drum sets and bongos that happen to be lying around. She’s a child with a bit of a mischievous streak, so it’s only natural that she’ll want to experiment with something that requires hitting sticks together.
“Wonder if I can remember the song the boys used to play back home? Think it goes something like this…”
Despite using a mishmash of instruments together, like drumsticks on a bongo drum, she starts ‘composing’ a rather catchy tune. It’s definitely a pirate-based song if one listens to the melody carefully enough. After a few minutes of music-making, Tani stops and glances up at the closest person, smiling widely.
“This is rather fun stuff, innit?”
[Team Two - Jungle Hijinxs]
Fighting creatures with intimidating features is nothing new for Tani, years of living with a merciless back of sky pirates have taught her a lot about dealing with the wild. She’s using to fighting everything from gooey slimes to mischievous fairies, so the jungle monsters don’t exactly scare this feisty 12-year-old. In fact, she’s deftly avoiding and incoming attacks on the narrow walkways, flipping in the air while firing off large volleys of arrows.
One monster gets braver than they should, trying to rush in with glimmering claws, but Tani almost laughs at him. She uses a nearby branch as leverage, jumping high into the air and within a flash of light, has swapped out weapons for a long prismatic spear. The creature doesn’t know what hit them, roaring out in pain as Tani dives straight down, piercing through skin and scale with ease with the colorful weapon. It’s a boon that the one item she got to keep from home was her Arms Band, lest this task would be much more difficult.
“These monsters are persistent like the wyverns back home! Looks like we’ll have to keep them at bay a bit longer.” She’s fast at swapping between short and long-range combat, already putting the spear away for her trusty bow, via the Arms Band’s powerful magic. Giving her teammate a quick glance for a split second, she can feel the ground shake lightly, more incoming monsters. “If we work together, this’ll be over in no time though!”
Wasting not a second more, Tani’s already pulling back the string on the Interstellar Bow, prepared to release another volley of arrows into the approaching pack of monsters. Never a dull moment in this place, but she’s ready for the challenge and the adventure alike!
team two!!
Though his gaze moves immediately to Tani taking aim so soon, not even sure where the hoard would come from just yet. "You look like you're having fun," he quips, the expression on his face a strange mix of amused and perplexed all at once.

Luke Skywalker | Star Wars | Imperial AU
Luke thought he was a fairly good leader, all things considered. He had kind of been thrown into command of Black Squadron, but he managed it well enough, especially considering who he answered to. Sure, most men had to worry about being strangled if they screwed up overmuch, but at least that was a quick death. The thought of disappointing his father always felt so much worse, so he always set out to do his absolute best, and usually succeeded.
This game was literally testing every bit of leadership ability he had in him.
There was another blinking light going off at the side of his vision, indicating that something else was going wrong, and he would need to figure out how to fix it. Almost immediately, the signs that the fairground goers were angry and demanding refunds were going off, and he couldn't help but let out a stressed sigh.
"This is so much worse than being a squad leader," he breathed out to his partner. "Why did I let you talk me into playing this?"
[Jungle Heights - Team One]
Fighting monsters? That was just fun lightsaber practice. Fighting monsters while swinging around on vines, not sure when he would have something solid under his feet? That was definitely a lesson in trusting the Force, and Luke was employing it not only for himself, but to make sure the rest of his team didn't end up falling to their death.
He had no idea how his father managed something like this.
Luke ended up sending himself flying off the vine he was currently clinging to, giving himself a nudge with the Force to make sure he stayed on his intended path, before his lightsaber came to life in his hand, the blue blade running the monster that was his target through before he dragged another vine to his hand. He was sent swinging around a tree, his legs shooting out to hit the trunk and slow himself down as he looked around, trying to get a sense of where everyone was at. A warning from the Force tingled in the back of his mind, and he snapped his head around to where it was coming from, and the person directly in the path of danger.
"Look out! There's one behind you!"
[Wildcard]
[[ Here I am, giving this another shot now that life is slightly less crazy. :B ]]
[[ Feel free to hit Luke with whatever! If you're not sure, feel free to message me at this journal, or send me a private plurk at
[[ Luke's from an AU where he was found by Vader at a young age and -- after Vader recovered from blue screening -- ended up yeeted to an Imperial Academy as far away from the Emperor as possible, where he grew up. He's still a good person, just a little more mature and more likely to take a more morally questionable approach to situations. His canon point is roughly a year after A New Hope, so he's around 20 years old. If you have questions about his backstory, feel free to give me a poke. ]]
Team One
He seems to stop what he is doing in literal midair, normally probably not a good thing for anyone to do, but it throws off the attacking creature's trajectory, expecting to pounce on prey that would have landed in a specific place, not just before it.
"Thank you."
Freeza raises a single finger, and rather than redouble and attack again, the confused jungle predator appears to lift a few inches off the branch it had landed and dug its claws onto, and clearly tensing as it tries to command its own extremities. In the next half-second it would have taken to dispel any confusion, it just...bursts. The explosion is contained, like the fiery death of a planet consumed in a pocket of airless space, and the viscera and remains drop to the jungle floor, the smell likely to draw some targets away from them while some a few new predators nearer that copse of trees.
Did he already know it was coming? For an instant, at least; still later than usual, as he had been tending another nuisance; the use of key rather than a physical attack had been reflex.
It hardly mattered; he didn't read the directive as meddlesome, either way. In an instant, he is focused on his work again and new creatures to dispatch.

Donatello Versus | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean
[It couldn't be that hard, right? It was just some ridiculous VR (that's still such a weird concept in hindsight) game that's supposed to be dealing with a crisis. He's dealt with enough weirdness and having to find some way to worm his way around or through it in his life for this to be simple. Or, well, that's what he was thinking. And was slightly annoyed upon realizing it required at least one other person.
Which might be why he looks a little too imposing when staring down the nearest person to come into the carriage.]
I need one more. This shouldn't take long. [Short, simple, to the point. That's how he tended to speak to most people to begin with, it not being worth his time in the slightest to elaborate or beat around the bush.]
Jungle, Team One
[Fighting. Lovely, grand. At least he was aware of how it all worked by this point, even if he's slightly annoyed and frustrated by the fact Under World is pretty useless in this entire situation. If he can get to the ground, then there's no reason for him to really get around. Though... in hindsight, he probably could use it to get some intel on anything these people may know about the creatures they're supposed to deal with.
Just kindly ignore him while, for whatever reason, there's rather weird looking humanoid thing just casually seeming to... well, who knows what it's doing as it's standing there and investigating a few people and touching their heads.
It's fine, they're fine, probably.]Fairground!

You would be mistaken.
[The response is a slow, annoyed sounding drawl - but it's not actually at Donatello. He gestures with one clawed hand to the VR set, the source of that distant irritation. He's gotten trapped in there before, determined to try to get as many points as possible.. and it did not go quickly.]

Pirinja Minja | FFXIV (non-WoL OC)
[ This is one of Pirinja's favorite cars, and it's where she ends up spending no small amount of time. She can be found there all sorts of times, trying out different instruments in turn. You might catch her in the evening, humming a soothing sort of song.
Or if you're practicing yourself, you might find her picking up to match your melody, either with instrument, or using her voice as an instrument, at times.
Most rarely of all though is when she sings songs with actual words. If you happen to find her at such times... you might do more than hear the tale she's weaving. You might see flashes of places, people, parts of the song.
Perhaps it's just your imagination? ]
Lalafell Bullying [Jungle Two, though you could probably swing One]
[ It's an unfortunately commonly-known bit of information that far too many of Hydaelyn's creatures found Lalafell... bite-sized and appetizing. Pirinja would have hoped, in the wider multiverse, that such tendencies were... a bit less obvious.
That, unfortunately, proved not to be the case. Or at the very least, the sight of one Lalafellan woman defending platform where some local residents are gathering - making ready for the impending journey - is doing little to dissuade the creatures bearing down on them. ]
Hells take it!
[ One of the creatures catches her by an ankle, half-hoisting her up into the air. The awkward angle fights with being at point-blank range, and in the end she gives up and stabs at the creature with the arrow instead, trying desperately to keep from dropping her bow in the meantime. ]
A bit of help here would be greatly appreciated!

Senya Tirall - Star Wars
Welcome to theJungle Heights - Team TwoSenya Tirall was not with the treetop brigade. Instead, she was in the village and fighting on top of a platform. It connected to many others and it was her fragging mission to keep creatures off and away of it so that the villagers could be evacuated.
There was no chasing. There was no scaring the creatures off. There was no mercy. Her movements were ruthless as was her attitude.
The butt of Senya's lightsaber pike was forced1 into the chest of one of the creatures, her blade ignited and the creature had an extra hole in its body. Senya withdrew the blade before turning around striking the dead thing up and then down to the ground below.
A sudden scream drew her attention. Senya knocked another creature in the head2 as she made her way to the sound of it.

Darth Nox | Star Wars: The Old Republic
[Jungle: Check; Fun and Games: Negative]
Team Two
While it might not be reassuring to see someone rushing about in armored robes bedecked with fangs and claws looking like some sort of death-obsessed space cultist, the fact remained he actually was helping. For the most part. An unfortunate side effect of his presence--and more specifically, the very much unsuppressed aura of the Dark Side--was that he might not have been the most pleasant person to be even remotely close to. Whether beings from other galaxies (or universes for that matter) were susceptible to the Dark Side's influence was always something of an unknown factor, but for anyone who could feel its effects, it would very likely be deeply unpleasant. And very, very cold.
As the battle up above didn't appear to require his immediate attention, he returned his focus back to the beasts rampaging amongst the various dwellings and trying to separate the defenders to more easily pick off. The rumbling sound of thunder and the crackling of electricity filling the air around him would be the only real warning of what was coming. Only a few seconds later there was a blinding flash of light as a veritable torrent of unnatural lightning surged from his fingertips to collide with a trio of the beasts that had been trying to corner one of the defenders who'd allowed themselves to be caught out just a little too far from the rest of the group.
Fortunately for everyone, the agonized screeching as the creatures were subjected to the full power of the Dark Side subsided soon enough, leaving them to collapse into a smoldering heap without any further commotion. Unfortunately, the smell of burning jungle beasties likely take far longer to dissipate. Even with Nox suddenly teleporting over in order to sweep all three over the ledge with a wave of his hand- there was no sense in allowing the creatures on the forest floor to go hungry. Especially not if it meant distracting them from the already hectic situation up above, which was already chaotic enough without the threat of more interlopers.
"If you're injured, join the evacuation. If you can still fight, fight, and be more mindful of your surroundings."
His voice was stern, to be sure, but even through the speaker in his helmet it wasn't quite at the point where anyone would mistake it for anything worse than a mild admonishment. Battlefields were hectic by nature, even if one was only fighting the local wildlife rather than a proper army. Unless someone made a habit of it, he wasn't going to judge them too harshly for any misstep. Especially not when he had plenty of things to kill.
[Crisis on...]
He'd at least humored whoever was in charge of planning out the train's entertainment by showing up to see what the latest feature was all about, but once he'd arrived Nox looked to be decidedly unimpressed. Or, well, as close to unimpressed as anyone with their face behind an unchanging, expressionless helmet could manage, anyway.
"I think I've dealt with quite enough crises for one lifetime, thank you. What could anyone possibly find appealing about subjecting themselves to more of them? Even if they're only simulated, I hardly see the appeal."
Sith weren't exactly bundles of fun at parties, go figure. Then again, it was also entirely too common for a Sith's idea of a fun party to be as far removed from anyone else's idea of a fun party as was humanly possible. Fortunately, this particular Sith was just an irritable wet blanket and not one of the ones whose idea of entertainment was trying to determine just how many different ways they could torture a person over the course of an evening. Or at least not someone who would try to determine just how many ways they could torture a random person over the course of an evening. And the few people he could enjoy making such a game out of were both 1. Not present, and 2. Well and truly dead.
Re: Darth Nox | Star Wars: The Old Republic
Perhaps best that she's not Force sensitive to realize there's anything about him other than some truly excessive fashion choices. She certainly doesn't have time to judge those.
So she keeps it to a simple "Thanks" as she draws her pistol back out.
Clementine Graves | Cyberpunk TTRPG OC
Game Carriage
Clementine was undecided if she actually wanted to play the game, but she was absolutely tickled by the VR system itself. She's seen much more advanced technology, but there was something about the headset and the whole setup that she seemed to be tickled by. She held the headset with both of her hands, turning it around and looking it over.
"So is this the kind of thing the kids get in the city, huh? I've been told the city kids that want to grow up and be netrunners use these to enter the net until they get their interface plugs."
She looked up to whoever was in there with her with a smile.
"Or that's what I've been told."
She spoke slowly with a thick southern drawl, warmth in her voice to match her chipper demeanor.
Jungle Heights: Two
She wasn't exactly used to a jungle specifically, but the thick air and humidity was something she was used to. Her hair was up in a tight bun that was maybe a bit messy by now, but almost otherwise completely in tact. She was careful as she moved about across the bridges and branches, but it was clear in the way she kicked at the beasts that got too close to the houses that she was rather fearless despite the great height.
Her foot landed sharply and squarely on the head of one of the creatures that was trying to get into one of the houses. When it turned to her to try and tear into her it was met with a face full of buckshot. That seemed to discourage it enough for it to scamper off and go elsewhere. She broke the shotgun and loaded it with an expert hand, calling out to a nearby voidtrecker she'd noticed.
"I ain't had this much fun since we had a coyote hunt to track down the dogs scarin' our cattle! This might be fun if people weren't in danger!"
You might take the girl out of the country, but you couldn't take the country out of the girl.
Jungle Heights: Three
There was always a point where it was safer to turn tail and run than it was to stay where you were and try to hold down the fort. Her time in Night City had taught her that. Not everything could be solved with force. Sometimes you just had to leave. So they were all walking together, headed somewhere safer than they were.
She was holding the hand of one kid who was particularly scared, but she was making a game out of it. Every few steps she would pull the kid up with one arm in a giant hop of a step, resulting in hushed giggles and laughter. She managed this with such an ease that she could maintain a conversation with someone next to her, paying barely any mind to the child she was lifting. Soon? She had a whole gaggle of children wanting a turn and, sure enough, regardless of how big or small they were, she was lifting them with no more difficulty than picking up her gun.
As she continued this game she whistled to a voidtrecker ahead of her, hoping that would catch their attention, before calling out to them a question.
"Do you know how much farther? These kiddos are startin' to argue over who gets swung next!" She started laughing near the end of her last sentence.
[ OOC: Happy to do a wildcard, will match style if you prefer action. ]
Jungle Heights: Three
So she'd been trying mostly to keep her eyes on the (for lack of a better word) trail - at least this way they knew where the kids were - until Clementine directly addressed her. That, at least, she didn't ignore; the troll girl had been a bit further up in the tree, scouting the best next bit of their rout, and she kept a grip on one branch for balance as she turned and looked down at Clementine. "Not sure!" she admitted cheerfully. "I think we've covered about half the ground we need to? If the wrigglers need a rest I can look for somewhere to pitch a temporary camp."
i'm trying to figure out how to turn her drawl into text so i'm sorry up front >:

Riku | Kingdom Hearts AU | I heard this train likes trauma
JUNGLE HEIGHTS: TEAM TWO
Jungle fighting is a new and exciting experience for Riku! Sure, he knows how to climb around on trees and has clambered up onto branches for the advantage in a fight more than once, but he doesn't quite trust the vines.
So he's volunteered himself for guard duty, perching himself on a brach above and between two treehomes, keeping an eye out for any opportunistic creatures.
Maybe. He might be looking around, but the the strip of black cloth tied over his eyes might make one wonder if he's really able to look out for anything at all.
JAM SESSION
Enjoying and appreciating music is something Riku's good at. Making music, not so much.
This is immediately apparent when he picks up a set of panpipes and starts indiscriminately blowing into the holes. What he's producing is completely tuneless and chaotic, but at least he's not doing it loudly.
If he notices anyone watching him, he'll stop abruptly, embarrassed.
"I'm...not a musical person."
WILDCARD

To be fair, Ansem wasn't outright staring, but- that is sure a wry look Riku is getting.
"Neither am I," he admits, picking up a recorder with some mild curiosity. "Perhaps some practice is in order for the both of us?"
Why yes. He is willing to make a fool of himself if it'll make the boy slightly less embarrassed.
Right?

Laura Apollodoros Hyginus La Mer | Tropical-Rouge! Precure
[ Jam Session ]
Laura has an entire pile of discarded musical instruments around her. Basically anything that caught her eye would get tested, and then when she discovered she wasn't immediately good at it, was discarded. The fact they don't make it back up to their proper position is more due to the fact that she doesn't have legs, though.
She's currently having fun with a set of bongos, though. "Are you amazed by my skills?" she remarks if somebody stares at her too long. "We have these down in Gran Kingdom, I've got a bit of practice." She's not that great, but also, it's bongos. She'll gladly accept any compliments though! Leave criticism at the door.
[ Team Three ]
"This is somebody's idea of a joke, right?" Laura looks down the tree. She is so far up. She has no water. What is this?
She tries to follow a group of children and flop across a bridge, but winds up with her tail slipping off the side. "Ack!" Rescue, rescue! Rescue the voidtrecker! From herself!
[ In the Spa ]
Have you ever seen a mermaid lounging about in her natural habitat? Well, unfortunately a spa is not a mermaid's natural habitat. And to anybody who comes into the spa, she's gonna make that known.
"No pools, not even any bath tubs? Really, all I get is this thing?" She flaps her tail out of and then back into the water, splashing some nice hot water everywhere. "This is terrible! You think this is terrible, right!?"
[ Elsewhere ]
Laura can also be found around the train, just trying to. Get around. It's hard when all you've got is a fish tail and arms. Flop and drag, that's all she can do. That's all she can do...
Offer a hand, wouldja? Or better yet, some legs.
Idia Shroud | Twisted Wonderland
Despite what Idia is like at other time, once he’s inside a video game he’s a totally different person. This was his territory after all, the digital space, his obsession and love for them. Here he has full control over his actions, able to interact far easier with others than he ever could in person, working towards an end goal or constant need for improvement and gaining of rare and important progress or loot. And while this isn’t his first choice in game options, he’s confident he can easily dominate at it and come out as the best.
“We need to delegate more of the worker NPCs to resource gathering to limit the strain on the food stalls. Once that is under control we can move half of them onto monitoring the fluctuations in fun house, and to subduing the banshee in the ghost house.” Anyone who has managed to spend any time with him so far would be shocked to see the transformation from the extremely shy, mumbling, and hunched over teen who just wants to curl up in a corner and not be noticed by anyone.
II – Jungle Heights: Team Two
Idia doesn’t want to be on ANY of these teams, let alone stuck in the middle of this horrible jungle! It’s just so, so… natural. Ughhh. However out of all the choices there had been, team two had seemed like the best bet for him. He wouldn’t have to worry about climbing or swinging around with his extreme lack of physical fitness, nor would he have to interact with the locals with helping them out. Yeah, just leave him to fight and not talk to him and he can at least try and pretend this is all a game and he’s trying to score points with each hit. Or just more battle practice back at school.
Idia will be using a variety of elemental magic, however concentrating primary on fire consider he can only assume with their setting these beings must have a weakness to it compared to water or plant based. However it’s notable to spot that Idia doesn’t seem to be the source of the magic, but his floating skull device that is always with him, firing off the magic in the direction he motions it too. Now and then several blue image screens will also pop up around him, his fingers darting over the interfaces before vanishing back away.
III – Around the Train
Was there no place on this train he could be alone?! Everywhere Idia went there was people! It was… horrible! It was impossible for him to find any space to himself. He wasn’t sure which was worse, this or the lack of his normal computers and technology he’s always surrounded by. No, he knows, it’s the lack of privacy. And… so many… cheerful, talkative people. Ughhhhh. Kill him now. Please. Someone. Put him out of his suffering. He’ll never complain about being caught up his fellow schoolmates’ interactions again. He’d even do public speaking rather than this.
Maybe…
It’s more likely to find Idia venturing out at night when he does, as he finds his shared cabin room is more likely to be empty during the day. Also, he’s very much a night owl and tends to be more awake at night. Even then it’s hardly a true haven away from others, so he will be trying to skirt around the sides of any interaction, avoiding eye contact or any signs that someone should come over to talk to him. It can be rather amusing to see a lanky, six foot tall (though hunched over) teen with a mass of blue fire hair trying to be sneaky, and really doesn’t help in his attempts to not be noticed.
He will try a number of rooms to get any type of privacy or just going about daily routine. Being an overly picky eater, while he’s snuck into the Kitchen Idia will be picking at primarily sweet items that others have made or were available to him, as well as poking around at several items to see if they would be parts for turning into electronic projects.
The Games coach also grabs his attention, Idia enjoying all sorts of games, not only digital. It does require him interacting with others to play said games… but, well… he guesses he can put up with it. He’s also a fast learner, quickly picking up any of the board or card games there are to offer, and eventually losing himself in enjoying the game and becoming less conscious on the fact he’s talking to someone he doesn’t know well. Just don't ask him to play Twister, he won't be able to deal with that.
His favourite place so far tends to be the Quiet Coach, despite the fact the glass walls don’t hide him well, but it was better than nothing. He will be scrunched up one of the benches, laying his frame across it as he pokes at whatever electronic has grabbed his attention current; most likely wearing his provided hoodie with it pulled up over his head to try and ‘hide’ him better, and having shoved on a pair of oversize headphones he had managed to steal from somewhere. His skull device will never be too far away, typically either seated on the table or floating around him if he’s not working on it. There’s a good chance he also may be spotted sleeping there during the day, sprawled out on a bench.

Auditi Blyght | Homestuck OC
[There's the stress inherent to the Crisis On... game, and then there's the stress of trying to navigate a malfunctioning fairground with Auditi. The troll is having a great time, admittedly - but while she understands the purpose of the exercise, she... doesn't have a whole lot of interest in completing it to plan.
Look, it's not every day that you get an opportunity to derail a roller coaster with no actual danger to your own life and limb. Which is why Auditi, having been left to her own devices for a few minutes, has found a (thankfully empty) mascot costume somewhere and is artfully arranging it across the tracks at the nadir of the ride's one respectably steep slope.]
Jungle Heights: Team Three
[Growing up on a planet where everything wants to kill you actually kind of does a decent job of preparing you for a mission in a jungle where everything wants to kill you. Go figure. When it comes down to it, though - Alternian hellworld skills notwithstanding - Auditi considers herself to be essentially a noncombatant. Other people can handle the forest monsters, thank you very much. If the escort mission is the part of the mission with minimal fighting, she can help escort some of the locals. Like, she's not going to pick up any of the kids, but she can help escort.
The little group she's helping to escort has run across a tricky bit of navigation. Auditi eyes the tangle of branches before her, and then glances over at her fellow voidtrecker.] It's gonna get tricky in the middle, there. You see any of those vines that don't cause a horrible blistering rash when you grab 'em around here? It'd help to run a line for a handhold.

Saoirse | Pokemon OC
Saoirse definitely wasn't very pleased about the stress and noise as she was trying to figure out some form of a gameplan to come up with for the scenario brought upon them. She was closest to the ghost house with the screaming banshee. And... As she tried thinking of something to do... With all of that screaming...
Well she turned on her heels to face the ghost house and screamed at the top of her lungs right back at it. Knowing full well it wouldn't do anything, but it relieved from frustrations, at least. "DON'T LIKE IT NOW DO YA?!" Well... It didn't do anything, but it had the blue hair girl narrowing her eyes dangerously with her fists clenched at her sides before stomping her way in to where the creature was.
Perhaps someone should try and either help or stop her... Preferably... before she went deaf and/or wrecked her throat too much. Of course, if you try to approach her to get her to, say, think things through first, she'll turn to face you and just say very loudly right at you "WHAT?!" before you even say your peace.
Team Two
She was glad she had Mareanie with her, at least. Sure, it was a bit on the stressful side still, having such a small pokemon with her instead of the likes of Taddy or Moxie, or even Quagsire, but Mareanie was at least able to start holding his own in a battle. Protecting himself and those around him, especially Saoirse herself while using moves to push enemies back as they tried getting too close to safe areas.
"You're doin' great, Mareanie" Saoirse told the pokemon, looking around to make sure everyone else was safe for the time being. If she was needed or wanted somewhere else, whoever was with her would just need to comment on it, of course. She wasn't sure what to do. Hell, she wasn't even close to used to this sort of thing. Especially not in a treetop village.
Team Two
From a pink fluff of a pokemon, and it seems that Princess and Eva have arrived, though the clefairy looks tired, like he's been doing this for a while.

it was easier to focus on figuring what was going on here, than focus on the circumstances that had caused him a different set of anxieties before he'd found himself on that platform; a home still in need of rebuilding, wangji's punishment and seclusion, a child to help raise, and the tension that continued to grow between his sworn brothers.
the concept of a simulation to train his senses and reflexes seemed a pleasant distraction, simple enough when he'd found the fairgrounds scenario. xichen sighed, took a deep breath and counted backwards from ten to one as chaos broke out around him and a ghost shrieked in what was supposed to be a simple attraction with a fake spirit inside.] Perhaps it would be wise to first deal with the fire, those trapped on the large wheel, and the screaming spirits before the refunds? [whatever that was that seemed to also be important to the screaming guests but less important to lan xichen, who was not sure how that would really appease anyone in comparison to the more imminent danger.]
wildcard 1;
[of all places that xichen has explored on the train since his arrival, the garden is the most peaceful. the greenhouse is full of life and reminds him in a strange way of some of the areas of the mountain that has been his home, but the quiet found here is somewhat akin to the cold springs of cloud recess.
not that they serve the same purpose.
xichen did not arrive with much but carries his xiao with him now, finds a secluded corner and holds it in his lap as he settles down with the hopes of meditating. the hope is short lived, the second he closes his eyes and hopes to focus there is the sound of a gravel displaced, a thud and then a splash. were he different man, xichen would not explore. but that is not who he is, so worry rises in his chest because in another world the one tumbling into a the small stream could be a child far too young to be left along.
he rises with more grace than he feels, makes his way to the source of the noise.] Are you alright?

from his spot in the water, he glances up at the familiar voice, eyebrows lifted with a mixture of astonishment and enthusiasm.] Zewu-jun! [comes immediately first then he scrambles to get out of the water, making sure to leave enough space between them so that when he shakes his hoodie sleeves out a little, no water splashes the man beside him.] Yes, I am okay, [sizhui reassures, dusting some dirt off his pants.] Ah, how long have you been here? Hopefully not too long... [since he'd feel absolutely terrible for not realizing sooner.
the small makeshift watering can he's made from a plastic jug gets shifted to his other hand, this way he can wipe away some mud on his jacket.] Sorry we have to meet like this. [he giggles softly.] My plants needed checking up on. I guess I got too excited and misstepped!
