Test Drive Meme 024
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun.
Happy testing!
Crisis On… A fairground
The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.
Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.
How hard can running a fairground me? Well very hard when so much has gone wrong. Is it sabotage? Is it bad luck? Shoddy engineering? No mater what it is the important thing is rides are breaking, people are in danger, there’s temperature fluctuations in the fun house and the banshee in the ghost house won’t stop screaming. This is perhaps one of the more light hearted scenario’s in Crisis On but brings it’s own level of stress. Good luck keeping everyone safe and pacifying those angry guests.
Jam Session
Downstairs in the music carriage there are a variety of instruments. Mostly smaller instruments (a guitar is the largest instrument there). There are a couple of each type. There is however an entire box of recorders, another box of panpipes and a box of mixed small percussion instruments (symbols, shakers etc). There are music stands small stools to sit on are stacked along the wall. There are folders of various sheet music as well as some ‘learn to play’ books.
When there is only one practice room well then it is the perfect time to learn to play together. No matter the skill level, instrument or music preference. Playing music together is a good team bonding activity after all.
Or perhaps everyone is just playing their own thing, descending into chaos.
Jungle Heights
The latest mission has taken them to a vast jungle, where people live high in the trees. There has been an influx of tree dwelling creatures with sharp teeth, sharper claws and a love of destruction. To make things better the forest floor is not safe, damp and marshy many creatures lurk there ready to bite at ankles and it is home to a root, the sap of which burns.Team One
Treetop fighting is an acquired skill and one the voidtreckers are having to learn quickly. Swing on vine ropes and tangle with monsters. Quick movement and quicker thinking is needed to take down the creatures in terrain they are naturals at traversing.Team Two
People here live on platforms in the trees, with bridges and walkways connecting them. Fend off the creatures and chase them away from peoples homes. At least there is slightly solider ground beneath their feet, but they must be careful not to fall to the jungle floor beneath.Team Three
Many of the people here are not fighters and they need help to get somewhere safer. It's a tough journey through the forest, especially when they leave the bridges and platforms of the village behind. Children may need carried and climbing from one tree to another is difficult even with sturdy branches to walk along.
They must be careful to stay in the trees, avoid getting too close to the forest floor but do not get too high, lest they attract the creatures.

[ And he's definitely not gonna point out the wetness in Rich's eyes. He's more absorbed in making sure his body language is right. His spine is nice and straight as Rich answers until, halfway through, he seems to realize it and forces himself to hunch a little again. ]
See? That's exactly it. "Once in a while." That's why you're on this train, Rich. It took you years and... just so much goddamn fighting that no one else even knew about. [ He smiles sadly at the ground. ] It wasn't once in a while for me. It took, like, days for me to decide to go all-in. The SQUIP was the reason I got up in the morning. He was making me a better person. So that justified everything.
[ He shakes his head. ] I didn't question anything. You survived years of brainwashing and you still turned out... y'know. A good person.

Maybe... But I mean, it's just fighting against some stupid supercomputer in my brain. It's not a real brawl or anything... it's not something someone would look at and be like, "That one. That kid's a real hero, perfect to be drafted in an interdimensional war!"
[He points and puts on a gruff voice, hoping somehow, the stupid impression might distract from the idea that Jeremy, a victim of Rich's, actually told him he was worth something.]

Um. [ He laughs awkwardly. ] No. I mean, if anything, I thought they only pick super-soldiers out of either the best of the best or the opposite, with someone who got blown up and nearly diiiiiiiiiI think that you're stronger than most adults! Psychological warfare! That's a real thing! [ He's proud of that recovery. ] Your brain is, like, the hardest place to fight something. Plus you're strong and cool and charismatic and everything so, yeah, good choice. Although not to, um, take a political stance on interdimensional, uh, UN meetings.

[He gives a wry half-smile, already aware Jeremy is probably mortified by his slip up and trying his best to help the situation with a likely too blunt joke.]
It's nice of you to try to pump me up, dude. I just don't know if my uh, unique skills will matter much when we're fighting big demons or whatever. Even when it's something mental, I mean, I can fight it off, but then it's not like I can use that to help someone else...

I'm, personally, not worried about you helping someone else right now. Help me, I mean, by taking care of yourself.
[ He stops for a second, standing up and putting his hands on Rich's shoulders firmly. ]
Listen Rich. Don't believe in yourself.
[ When he talks, it's his firm and clear acting voice - which is easy, since he doesn't have to come up with the words to the quote himself. But he's grinning, cocky and proud. ]
Believe in the me who believes in you!

[He's cut off by the sudden physical contact, and he dimly notes his Jeremy wasn't nearly this comfortable touching him. He would have expected Jeremy to flinch away from Rich's body entirely, but... he's grabbing him like it's just a normal thing he does.
What happened in the months Rich hasn't lived yet?]
...You did not just anime meme at me, you absolute weeb.
[It at least gets the smallest snort out of him, and a bigger grin.]
might be a good time to wrap up unless you want jer for something
[ Jeremy claps Rich on the shoulder again, cautious at first of the old burns. Then on impulse, he wraps his arms around Rich in a tight hug. ]
[ It kinda sounds like Rich needs it. ]
Seriously. Take care of yourself if you're gonna keep playing the big damn hero.
no, this works! thank you for the adorable thread <3
[He's cut off when he's suddenly tugged forward into a hug, and for several moments, he flounders, frozen in place by his indecision.
But Jeremy is right that he needs it, which is why he eventually returns the hug, squeezing his new (old?) friend tight.]
I'll try to. I wish I could just go home but... I'll keep fighting 'til I do.
