Test Drive Meme 024

Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!

1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.

3. Have lots of fun.

Happy testing!

Crisis On… A fairground

The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.

Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.

How hard can running a fairground me? Well very hard when so much has gone wrong. Is it sabotage? Is it bad luck? Shoddy engineering? No mater what it is the important thing is rides are breaking, people are in danger, there’s temperature fluctuations in the fun house and the banshee in the ghost house won’t stop screaming. This is perhaps one of the more light hearted scenario’s in Crisis On but brings it’s own level of stress. Good luck keeping everyone safe and pacifying those angry guests.

Jam Session

Downstairs in the music carriage there are a variety of instruments. Mostly smaller instruments (a guitar is the largest instrument there). There are a couple of each type. There is however an entire box of recorders, another box of panpipes and a box of mixed small percussion instruments (symbols, shakers etc). There are music stands small stools to sit on are stacked along the wall. There are folders of various sheet music as well as some ‘learn to play’ books.

When there is only one practice room well then it is the perfect time to learn to play together. No matter the skill level, instrument or music preference. Playing music together is a good team bonding activity after all.

Or perhaps everyone is just playing their own thing, descending into chaos.

Jungle Heights

The latest mission has taken them to a vast jungle, where people live high in the trees. There has been an influx of tree dwelling creatures with sharp teeth, sharper claws and a love of destruction. To make things better the forest floor is not safe, damp and marshy many creatures lurk there ready to bite at ankles and it is home to a root, the sap of which burns.
Team One

Treetop fighting is an acquired skill and one the voidtreckers are having to learn quickly. Swing on vine ropes and tangle with monsters. Quick movement and quicker thinking is needed to take down the creatures in terrain they are naturals at traversing.

Team Two

People here live on platforms in the trees, with bridges and walkways connecting them. Fend off the creatures and chase them away from peoples homes. At least there is slightly solider ground beneath their feet, but they must be careful not to fall to the jungle floor beneath.

Team Three

Many of the people here are not fighters and they need help to get somewhere safer. It's a tough journey through the forest, especially when they leave the bridges and platforms of the village behind. Children may need carried and climbing from one tree to another is difficult even with sturdy branches to walk along.

They must be careful to stay in the trees, avoid getting too close to the forest floor but do not get too high, lest they attract the creatures.

Meanwhile, Tani is stabilizing her position in the treeline, making sure to watch the creatures' movements carefully. Occasionally she fires off a loose arrow here and there, testing the durability of the monster's mossy form. Once the 'skin' is torn away by Roland's accurate sword slashes, her eyes go wide.

There, in the middle of the creature's body, is a beating blueish-green organ.

Tani smirks, making her spear appear once more, pointing it at the spot carefully. Shooting arrows is one thing, but wielding magic is another skill entirely. It takes focus and a lack of interruption, which Roland has given Tani plenty of time to concentrate.

"Say your prayers!" The Panelemental Spear flashes yellow and a large ball of electricity surges forward, crackling with energy. Spark Spike is one of those skills that works right for this particular situation, given the lumbering and large target in front of her.

Lightning and water certainly do not mix well, and the boss monster howls out in pain, its entire body paralyzed from the spell. However, she doesn't breathe easy just yet, watching to see if it gets back up or falls for the last time. A quick jump out of the tree puts her right behind the monster. Watching. Waiting.

"Roland! Are you okay?"

Tani isn't shy about display of skill, and Roland is happy to see it even if circumstances could be a little better. He whistles low as the monster succumbs to the electric shock, tendrils of its mossy body slowly burning away into the muck and dirt beneath its tentacles. As soon as the howling ceases and it grows still, he runs cautiously towards Tani, sword still out of its sheath in case the monster pulls a fast one on them. It's happened before.

"I'm fine," he calls out, eyes on the beast. "Think that might be it. Attagirl, Tani. That was some quick thinking as usual." He didn't even know hacking and slashing away like that would reveal what it did, but this is why he's always admired the kid's knack for freestyling when she could. She was unorthodox in movement, but at the end of the day, Roland could trust Tani to have his back. She may have gotten that penchant for ending fights quickly from her father.

"How about you? Got any scratches you're not telling me about?"

Tani’s used to being the one who comes up with random plans, right behind Leander who has that whole gig mastered. In fact, it’s probably safe to say she’s picked up a lot from the Archon, and mixing it with her fast combat style, makes for a tough child to defeat. But again, she’s just a kid, and Roland is quick to remind her of that.

“I can’t take credit for the whole plan. That thing had a tougher exterior layer than the grunts, so it would’ve been a lot of effort to get any damage in. Your sword skills are top-notch as always, Roland!” Tani makes her weapon disappear for the moment, not sensing any new enemies on the way, probably because they thought the Big Boss would get the job done. Too bad for them!

“I wouldn’t be able to hide them from you even if I did…But no, I’ve been lucky and got away unscathed for now. ‘Cept for this yucky gunk that keeps getting onto my boots.” Boots. That’s something she’s not used to wearing, but if Bracken can do it, then she’ll adjust. Fighting monsters is the easy part, but the culture shock of brave new worlds to explore? She might still be getting used to that.

“So, team leader…” And yes, she’s blatantly aware of Roland’s newfound role of being Purple’s de facto commander. “What’s the next course of action? Things seem to be under wraps here, but should we be going out to hunt more monsters? Or search out more people in need of help?”

"Why don't we take a minute to catch our breath?"

He doesn't often call for rest, but when he does, it's only because he's trying to hide mild concern. Roland isn't explicit enough to suddenly tell Tani he's worried, though his actions speak volumes. Before she has a chance to resist, he's already summoned a pair of closed-toe shoes from his Arms Band, appearing in thin air. He approaches her and hands them to her, with his other grip open to receive her soiled boots.

"You won't be able to fight if you're thinking about what you're stepping in. Come on. Just a few minutes won't hurt."

you can always throw stuff in late :)

"Seems like we have a moment, so sure."

Tani takes a seat on a nearby tree stump, reaching into her Arms Band and procuring a small snack, two sticks of wrapped jerky, one of which is offered to Roland. In exchange, she smirks at the offered shoes, taking them willingly. The only problem now is what those sludge-caked boots are going to do inside the Arms Band. Thankfully, they can be put away in a hammerspace of their own.

"Thanks, Roland! You're prepared like always." She's slip on the shoes and...perfect! Feels like old times' sake, wearing something that allows her to move nimbly. He gets her dirty pair without hesitation. "Guess we'll have to clean those with his month's laundry."

Despite everything that's going on, she's having fun in the world. And for the moment, she'll enjoy his company with a quick snack, until the jungle skies light up with a distress beacon from another group. Never a dull moment for heroes!
