Test Drive Meme 016
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun. Mandatory, mod-sanctioned fun.
Happy testing!
Silence in the Library
The library is a double carriage. Downstairs is brightly-coloured, with cover posters across the walls, tables and chairs in the strong colours of the team uniforms, and a wooden model train placed as though winding its way through the carriage with carriages of shelves in tow. The walls are shelving, and beanbags litter the floor. Upstairs is quieter, rows of nonfiction shelves with private desks at the end of each row; the sound up here is muffled.
You don't know who, you don't know why, but someone or something has had a bad power day. How do you know? Well, the fact that the characters of any book you read keep coming to life as tiny versions of themselves and running riot around the carriage... that might have been a clue.
You just wish you'd picked a different book before realising it.
An Apple a Day
Medical is another double carriage, though it boasts one of the few person-sized lifts on the train as well as stairs. On the bottom floor, two of the three rooms are examination rooms, with simple beds, equipment and first-aid capacity. The third is a surgical bay, albeit a simpler one than some passengers may anticipate. All three rooms have ICPs with instructions and manuals for all equipment and a number of medical procedures.
Upstairs, there are four private recovery rooms, with a medical bed and an accessible en-suite. It's possible to check a passenger into one of these rooms, at which point they cannot leave until discharged by the person who checked them in.
Which, unfortunately, you are entirely aware of. You've been here for three days, and you're climbing the walls. But that'll teach you to get injured in such a stupid way. Or so they hope.
Sprockets and Skysong
In which a train arrives among the smokestacks of Little Underpool with some unexpected visitors.
Little Underpool is a township on Void world #30630687444. Caught up in the middle of what appears to be a series of industrial revolutions, the world is in a state of constant, chaotic innovation. Currently, that means that there is a power struggle going on between the skywhaling megacorporation Scrimshaw Inc and the Zephyr Company, an airship manufacturer, over control of the skies above Underpool, and the rapidly diminishing population of skywhales, whose bones are used in most modern airships, and whose blood is a key fuel source for a great number of new devices and engines. The voidtreckers are, this mission, to rescue the whales, rather than any humanoids.Team One
Infiltrating Scrimshaw Inc, this team's job is to sabotage the tracking drones used to locate the whale pods, to allow the great beasts to migrate successfully away from Underpool. The offices of the corporation are in a series of spiralling brass and bone towers in the centre of the town, connected by exposed cable bridges that run to dizzying heights. Their clockwork guards are numerous, but often faulty, and highly vulnerable to tinkering.Team Two
This team's job is to hijack some of the Zephyr Company's airships, and use them to defend the whale pods closest to Underpool. Several pods contain whale calves, and cannot evacuate as fast as the larger bachelor groups. The airships are light, and handle well, but their oddly organic design can be rather unsettling. The primary weapons are harpoons and short-range bomb slings, both as deadly against other airships as they are against their original targets.Team Three
The final team's task is less direct - they must go among the populace of Underpool and spread unrest, redirecting the attention of the people towards the plight of their nonhuman neighbours in the sky, and the wrongdoings of their resident megacorporations. The people are not aware that the whales are an entirely sentient species, which appears to be a deliberate obfuscation by the town's council and sponsors. Your job is to change that.
Adam Parrish | The Raven Cycle | OTA
Picking out a book and taking it up to the second floor of the library car, Adam had figured he could get some reading in. What he hadn't figured was that reading would lead to chaos. He'd only just settled down at one of the desks and flipped open the book when disaster struck.
Figures emerged from the pages, bleeding from ink to forms that looked enough like flesh and blood but he wasn't sure if they really were. The shock of it was enough to have him getting up so abruptly that he knocked over his chair. What the hell, what the actual hell.
Realizing that this was going to keep getting worse so long as the book was open, he reached out to close it, but was met with the point of a sword in his finger, causing him to jump. A pin point of blood welled from the tip of his finger, and the figures emerging from his book started scattering across the desk and nearby shelves.
b. An Apple a Day
So he'd broken his arm on a mission, so what. He had a cast from elbow to wrist, and that was really all that could be done about that. After three days and with the appropriate painkillers, the pain was down to a dull ache. He was perfectly fit to leave medical and re-join the rest of the train. It wasn't like he was going to break his other arm or anything.
And yet he was still here. He was about ready to lose his mind. Lying around doing nothing wasn't the Parrish way. He had to admit that this was the most sleep he'd gotten in ages, but it didn't make him feel any better. Or make him any less restless. What he needed was to get out of medical so he could do things. What, he didn't know off the top of his head, but he would find something.
c. Sprockets and Skysong - Team One
He'd discovered that the inner workings of the clockwork guards weren't that different from engines. Different enough that he was having a bit of a time trying to put all the pieces back together on the faulty guard he was working on, but not so different as to be completely alien.
If he could get this thing working again, he might be able to turn it to their side and get past some locked doors. That was a pretty big 'maybe' though, and right now, kneeling on the floor with the guard's insides on the outside, his success was questionable at best. Exhaling, he swiped a hand over his forehead, smearing some grease on his skin.
screams (b)
Ronan's perched on the end of Adam's bed, rolling a handful of tiny spheres around in his palm. Selecting one of the spheres, he tosses it into the air and snaps his fingers. At the sound, the sphere starts projecting an aurora-like light show. Whether or not that's what it was supposed to do isn't clear from Ronan's expression, but after watching for a moment Ronan turns his full attention back to Adam.
"If I thought you could be trusted to let yourself actually heal, you would've been out of here already."

Rei Saotome | Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
[Let's be honest here. Rei knows what she is about, and that means she's been reading some extremely sappy romance novel, right up until the main character appears... And perches on Rei's shoulder, reading with her. Both her and the tiny main character herself both seem completely engrossed in reading this story.
The love interest character, though, doesn't seem to be pleased that the book is getting more attention than he is, so he's running around the carriage on a very small horse, trying to get attention with the horse's hoofbeats.... Unfortunately, he's so small they're very quiet hoofbeats. Right up until they run over your toes, anyway.]
ii. gaming carriage
[You thought it would be the medical wing? No, that would be silly. Rei's in the gaming carriage, and she's kind of... Well, at least one of the tables is now an outright mess as Rei goes through the briefcase full of cards that Kaiba's left here. She seems to be sorting them into two piles, based on...]
Useful, not useful, not useful, not useful... Maybe in a gimmick deck? I need to start over if I'm gonna include those.
[check that, three piles. She's kind of taken over the gaming car. Talk to her if you need some space in here!]
iii. team three
[Rei isn't the most subtle of people. She's not good at, for example, moving around quietly, spreading information in quiet corners, subtly influencing public opinions. Rei is at her best when she's the center of attention, and that's what she's aiming to be, gathering a crowd on a street corner to yell... Is she literally standing on a soapbox to make her speech?]
Everyone, listen! You're being fooled by these companies... The whales they're preying on for these airships are actually intelligent! They're just as smart as people! What Scrimshaw and Zephyr are doing is just murder!
[Of course, a bunch of people roll their eyes, and a bunch start leaving. But one person in the crowd shouts, "prove it!"]
Prove it? Okay, easy.
[Rei points behind the crowd.]
If what I was saying was baseless, would they have sent those things after me?
[Rei's finger is, of course, pointing at some of those clockwork guards, which appear to be heading in her direction.
She... might not have thought this through. Time for her to run away!]
iv. wildcard
[hit me up with other ideas! rei is here to cause problems on purpose, but she means well.]
ii
[Hikaru has spent some points on a Go set - and on Star Aria cards, which he's cracking packs of and arranging by colors; white and teal, red and gold, black and grey, green and pink, blue and purple. He considers his spread carefully.
Also worth noting; he's a winged Lalafell with a sweet wizard hat, robes he picked up from last mission, an orange sash, a black wristband, and a staff containing an eternal flame.]
Are you in the mood to win, play for fun, or to theorycraft? Either way. Teach me your game, I can teach you mine.

[ Whoops. Somebuggy has just wiggled his way into the gaming car to investigate, and in so doing, the sway of his abdomen has knocked over Rei's largest pile. The pile tips over, towards one of the other piles.
And the worm - shuffles back, startled and embarrassed. He falls over himself into a bundle of stubby legs and regret. ]

IT'S NYAGIRL
Your face is so familiar, and whenever I see you, I get this... intense feeling of unfathomable irritation, coming completely out of nowhere, but I have no clue who you are because we fought so many one-trick-pony bit duelists in my first semester that their faces have all started to blend together.
[A pair of white and black spotted cat ears pokes through the generally behatted crowd.]
But watching you enact this totally harebrained scheme has finally jogged my memory, nya! Out of all the ridiculous random schlubs we dueled our first year, only one is this pint-sized and totally incapable of forward planning.
[A pair of fingers snap, and three Snow Fairies appear in a burst of snowflakes around the clockwork constables, firing beams of concentrated cold from their fingertips to freeze up their inner workings. And from the crowd leaps a very familiar (snow leopard) catgirl, wearing a fashionably assymetrical leather punk outfit that fails to conceal her toned musculature as she lands on Rei's soapbox, getting in her personal space.]
You know, Flannigan, I'd really love to leave you here to face the consequences of your own actions, but unfortunately we're all on a team together, so up you go. [And then she moves to unceremoniously pick up Rei and drape her over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes.]
Let's move, brat.

Ayumi Yoshida | Detective Conan
Silence in the Library
Things she'd not been expecting today: This. More precisely: Tiny figures of the Merry Little Voidtrain and Kheli running amok, and while Ayumi was excited at first, it's no longer as exciting when the pair seem determined to wreak havoc.
Namely, scattering all the books everywhere as Ayumi attempts and fails to corral them. Maybe she should have worn her sherlock hat...?
"Sorry, sorry! Can you help me get them back in this book please?"
Sprockets and Skysong
Is she supposed to be doing this? Probably not. Is she doing it anyway?
Yes, yes she is and as far as she knows, everything will turn out Fine because Conan and Ai are around. Maybe not with her, but they're around. Also no one expects a child to clue in, quickly, into how faulty the clockwork guards are.
All it took was one being lead off the side of and exposed cable bridge.
Probably why she's pulled the nearest person along with her on this. Look. Her hero is Kamen Yaiba, and she's seen Conan stop bad guys. That means she can too, right?
"Hey," said to whoever she's pulled along for this adventure as she points to one of the many exposed cable bridges, "do you think we can sneak up above and drop things on them?"
Sprockets and Skysong
He looks up at the bridge when she points it out, then back down. "Gotta find stuff to drop, might have to waste one to start to get their attention so it's easier to hit 'em, but yeah." There is the temptation in the back of his mind to just say 'yeah, drop me on them', but again, pushing that down.

Lord El-Melloi II | Fate | servantswap AU
I'm fine, I said I'm fine, if you think this is injured I'll sure as hell show you injured in a god damned minute--
[The man primarily known only as 'Professor' to most gestured with a silver-handled black cane as he ranted half to himself, frustrated and more than a little infuriated. Sure, maybe he'd gotten hurt and/or aggravated some old injury in the course of protecting others on the last mission, but clearly this was an excessive amount of worry. By his standards, at least.]
[b; team three]
[The skills of the enigmatic Lord El-Melloi ('the second', he would correct anyone without fail) were many, but none so carefully crafted as his ability to plant seeds of revolution.]
[Remarkably, his approach seemed to change depending on who he spoke to. Most adults were met with a straight-laced teacher, hands folded neatly on his cane and a half-scandalized 'well, I heard-' as he casually spread all manner of terrible rumors about everything from the corporations themselves to the suits in charge. Were they all true? Fuck if he knew, he was just here to get the job done.]
[He changed track with the younger adults he crossed paths with; though the sentiment was the same, it was delivered with a casual stance, wicked grin, and a distinct air of 'fuck the police' that felt far more sincere.]
...I do love the rebelliousness of youth these days. [He might have laughed that under his breath watching his handiwork run off in the form of a band of newly anti-corporate teenagers.]

Zechs Merquise || Gundam Wing || OTA
If anyone had asked him - Zechs had not intended on reading the brightly-colored children's book that he picked up out of idle curiosity. Well. Perhaps leafing through it just briefly. It appeared to be some kind of odd ... fictionalization ... of their present situation. Meant for small children. But he didn't believe there was anyone quite so young on the train - was there?
But now there was a tiny little train zipping around the library, threatening to cause people to trip, and an even tinier rabbit driving it, shouting warnings and encouragement in a high-pitched voice. Zechs was trying to grab it, because he did feel a responsibility to fix the problems he'd cause - but of course - and as usual - he just became a villain in their narrative.
It'd be pretty easy easy to trip and fall over a miniaturized Merry Little Voidtrain and her friend Kheli, but even easier to just get really annoyed by the cheerful, high-pitched voices cheering for their escape from the giant bad man through the library.
An Apple a Day
Zechs hadn't been injured in a stupid way. He insists it was perfectly reasonable to have ended up trying to act as a decoy during their last mission, and getting stabbed, well. Certainly wasn't the last time. What was stupid was the idea he needed to stay in this recovery carriage. Three days was inexcusable. He finally decided this was it.
He didn't know strictly how to pick locks, but he could figure out how to dismantle the door itself, so long as he could find the hinges to this blasted thing ... and a tool that would double as a screwdriver. That wasn't suspicious at all, of course not.
Sprockets - Team One
Zechs pressed against the wall, out of sight, with one of his team members. He was watching the movement of the clockwork guards, lips pursed.
"Thirty seconds. Create a distraction - I'll disable it."
Sprockets - Team Two
It was weirdly reassuring and comforting being in the pilot's seat again, as odd as the controls were - there were always going to be universals. He'd figured out how to control the roll, pitch, and yaw - so everything else would be simple. The fact it was a very organic-seeming design ... well, he'd only hope he wasn't somehow hijacking an actually sentient creature.
Zechs smiled, a sharp sort of expression, and used his SCA to communicate with his wingman. "We need to create enough distance so the enemy's bombs won't strike the pod - but close enough to defend against their harpoons. How are you adapting to the controls?"
Team One
“Will a fire do?”

MT (Train roster: "Tulip's Reflection") | Infinity Train
A: γɿɒɿdi⅃ ɘʜɈ ni ɘɔnɘliƧ
MT wasn't much of a nerd (go find her prime for that,) but she was still bored, and there was only so much pent-up aggression she could take out on the train. So it didn't take her very long to figure out something was amiss here after opening up the first book she grabbed.
Unfortunately, it's now been several minutes since she figured out. Why is that unfortunate?
"Go on! Be Free!" Book upon book upon book are all open, and tiny characters of all sorts are running around the library car, causing all sorts of chaos.
Tiny robots underfoot, a tiny dragon flying overhead, a tiny noir detective talking with a tiny princess and a tiny butler on one of the tables, a rank of tiny soldiers trying to mobilize against the tiny dragon... it's chaos.
And in the middle of it, a girl made of metal.
B: ɘnO mɒɘT
It's in the depths - heights? - of the towers. Most people on this team? Probably fighting these clockwork guards, or tinkering, or something else to take care of them. MT doesn't have time for drawn-out fights or clever solutions, though.
There's a very easy way to jam up clockwork, as she demonstrates by just. Sticking her arm into some exposed gears. The cogs can't turn with her metal arm blocking them up, and it can't crush her arm because it's. Metal.
Good news? That guard stops moving once its gears stop moving, and the pressure causes several other pieces to come loose. It won't be bothering anybody else.
Bad news? ...Her arm is still caught in its gears.
MT waves her arm around in a futile attempt to dislodge the immobile clockwork guard. "Ummm, a little help?" she asks, somewhere in between indignant and sheepish.
C: bɿɒƆ bliW
Hit up MT around the train somewhere. She hates it. The train that is.
Be prepared.
B
[ Ken runs over when he sees MT's predicament, taking in what she's - Oh. Oh, given the circumstances, that's very clever. So this was an alternate way to disable them.
Appreciation can come after action, however. He kneels down to get a better look at where she's caught. ] Hold still.

Nicole the Holo-Lynx | Archie Sonic (Reboot) | OTA
On one hand, Nicole can't help but feel something of relief. She isn't perpetually stuck in an old hard drive after dealing with Phage, her usual handheld computer is SOMEHOW fixed and active and, oddly, she can interact with things in a much more normal fashion.
Which means the lynx is opting to investigate things to sate her curiosity. Which lead her to the library. She had absolutely no idea that things went completely south and, upon looking at one book, yelped as she was met with a gout of fire and a dragon marched out as she dropped it.
"M-Must not be a friend of Dulcy's...!" she gasped. And then other figures walked out. "Oh, not good..."
B) An Apple A Day...
Well now Nicole did it. She went and got herself hurt. Bruised knee. Best to make sure it was a-okay. And when it was, she waited for the person who brought her in to come back and get her.
And she waited. And waited. And waited some more. Still no sigh of people.
"Hello?!" she called out. "I'm, uh... I'm done in here! Someone wanna give me a hand?!" She pleaded with her eyes. "Please?"
C) Sprockets and Skysong - Team One
Oh, boy, this brought back memories... and she isn't sure if it's her memories or those of the "other her". Invading Robotropolis, sneaking past the various Egg Pawns and random Badniks to make Eggman's life trouble and bring them one step closer to saving the kingdom from him.
Nicole could easily handle this on her own, but she knew that things needed to be done as a team. She turned and tossed to one of her allies her computer.
"Hold this real fast. I'll distract one of those robots and you can probably easily hack it from there."

Sherlock Holmes | Granada's Sherlock Holmes | OTA
He moved for a long time, observing everything very carefully. Pace by pace, he methodically made his way through both levels of the car, carefully looking over everything. His cane even prodded a beanbag, experimentally. That was, perhaps, the only feature he couldn't recognize in its entirety.
Books he could not even understand the titles of without context - this was fascinating. He could spend months in this car alone, really. Once the books and their special properties were discovered, well. He placed one on a table, open, crouching down to watch it, with piercing eyes.
Sprockets and Skysong - Team One
His method might surprise any who did not know him. He sat himself on a bench opposite the building for Scrimshaw Inc, and merely observed for a long time. The better part of an hour. Every coming and going, in complete silence, chin resting on the head of his walking stick. After that time, without a word he rose, crossing the street.
He'd already acquired an appropriate suit, and gently bumped into one man in particular, murmuring an excuse and carrying on. A second, near the doors, as well. By the time he reaches them, he has acquired a pair of spectacles from the first man, some papers from the second. He puts on the former, and strides in with the second, his entire manner changing.
The quiet observer is gone. A few hairs are surreptitiously put out of place, a concerned look on his face. He moves through people without noticing, reading through the papers and shuffling them quickly.
Character assumed, Sherlock Holmes makes his attempt.
Team One
He thinks he's in the clear and slowly lowers himself down to the floor before turning and jumping at the realization he has company in this room.
"Holy Shit!" He whisper-exclaims. "Where did you come from?"

Adele Blanc-Sec | Adventures of Same | OTA
She paced, arms crossed and eyes narrowed. She hates this. She's been cooped up in one room for days, and if there is one thing she hates more than anything, it's inactivity. Her life has been adventure and discovery - a tiny, tiny room without even so much as a newspaper...
She was waiting for her clothing to come back with the person who had placed her here in the first place. Admittedly, it was what she got for trying to make her way out of the train by pushing into an air vent, then tumbling directly onto her ankle.
Knowing it was her fault didn't help. And so she paced, not even caring that the back of the gown was a bit revealing, all things said and done. She'd been able to walk again for only a short period - and she'd damn well take advantage of at least that.
Sprockets and Skysong - Team Three
This, this was practically where she lived. She'd disappeared for some time before returning with a sackful of clothing. Best not to ask how she had acquired it. She'd asked the other person to guard the door while she changed. Multiple times. Each time, she emerged as a different person. With a surprising amount of facial hair in many cases.
Each time she ventured out, having conversations, plying a different character each time - first, some sort of prelate. Then, a plump businessman, then a pensioner, then an airship technician. She emerges again, brushing off a rather smart looking suit of a lawyer, with elaborate wig and muttonchops to boot.
"Come, let us spread the terrible word."
no subject
At last she comes out dressed as an old-time lawyer and Peter has questions but he's not gonna judge and just glances around the town. "This would be so much easier with instagram or facebook. Even a catch tik-tok dance would be more effective than playing telephone." He grumbles as he pushes himself off the wall to get moving.

Ken Ichijouji (& Wormmon) | Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna
This is nice...
[ Looking around in serene appreciation - Ichijouji Ken, age 19, whose Zen expression is somewhat offset by the presence of his unusual hat.
He meanders along the paths, taking in the ambiance, and sits on a bench to watch the water flow. From the look on his face, he could stay here for hours. ]
It's pretty, huh, Ken-chan.
That it is. [ Ken closes his eyes, takes a deep breath. Frowns a little. ] Though....
Though?
[ Standing, Ken looks around the artful display of flowing water. He identifies a spot and heads over. ]
Wouldn't the experience be enhanced by a shishi-odoshi?
[ An Apple A Day ]
Hey, are you the doctor?
[ Whoever's passing through the bottom floor of the medical carriage will suddenly find themselves with a giant green larva clinging to their leg. And looking up at them with big, teary eyes. ]
You are, right? Hurry! Come quick!!
[ Tug tug tug tug. IT'S AN EMERGENCY!!!! ]
[ Sprockets and Skysong - Team One ]
Sticky Net!
[ The guard in hot pursuit of a suspicious pair of interlopers trips over itself and falls, pinned in place by a, well, sticky net made of webbing. Wormmon looks up at Ken, who responds to these expectations with a sincere grin. ]
Good job, Wormmon. [ Ken's expression sets into determination. ] Let's move on quickly -
[ One of the clockwork guard's arms has just knifed its hand. Literally - the fingers latch together and form a blade.
It begins sawing away, though at an awkward position, at the net. ]
---Ah.
an apple a day
[But the weird little familiar was incredibly insistent, and it would be lying to say he didn't have some medical ability.]
...Okay, okay. [He gently nudged Wormmon off of his leg with the walking stick at his side.] I'll do what I can, let's go.

Wen Chao | The Untamed | OTA
Wen Chao doesn't remember exactly what happened. He'd woken up with what seemed like a minor injury -- maybe he'd been knocked out somehow? All the same, he feels fine. He needs to get out of this room. The train is still relatively new to him and there's plenty left to figure out and he's fuming at being stuck here and he couldn't seem to leave no matter how he tried or who he talked to.
His anger is bubbling up and a sort of panic by this point as he yells, "Let me out now!"
[ B.Standard Coach ]
As is standard, Wen Chao is in a foul mood today. He's not adjusting well at all to this infernal place and every carriage he enters he feels the same dissatisfaction and trapped feeling that had been present since the moment he'd arrived. With this demeanor, it's been difficult to make acquaintances, much less friends. It doesn't look more hopeful today as anyone that looks at him as he settles into the Standard Coach gets a glare.
He does go to the shelf of books in the carriage, picking one at random before finding a seat and flipping through it aimlessly. The glare settles into a more sullen expression.
[ C.Wildcard ]
[ Will match styles/tenses! Feel free to hit me with anything else too! ]

But now face to face with him again, Xue Yang can feel some of that old spark rising back up in him. He wonders if he is just as easy to anger as he was before.
"Yelling is going to get you nothing except for a sore throat. Do I need to cut out your tongue to get back some peace and quiet? The train might see it as a service of good."

Akemi Homura | Puella Magi Madoka Magica
[ It was a minor injury, all things considered. The kind she could have very easily healed with her Soul Gem. But instead, she finds herself here. Trapped. Irritated. For the past three days.
The door won’t open, no matter how many times she tried. She tried knocking and calling out, with no response. She tried kicking at the doorknob. She even tried shooting bullets directly at the door, handle and hinges.
Nothing.
Homura bangs a single fist against the door, head bowed, frustrated. ]
Sprockets and Skysong
Team One
[ Homura had joined the infiltration group because, well. Her skillset is particularly geared towards sneaking into places she’s not allowed to be. She certainly has enough practice with it.
Within the blink of an eye, anyone on her team will notice her suddenly on the opposite end of the hallway. Any guards that had been in her path, fall suddenly to the ground, sparking, having been shot with enough bullets to completely fry their circuitry.
She flips her hair over her shoulder, and focuses her gaze on the next set of guards. ]
Wildcard
[ Canon point is… fluctuating and undecided. Hit me up with anything and everything! ]

But she's one of the rotating healers, and on today's shift she's startled to hear the thumping on the door from the other side. She calls inside the room, unaware of who this might be. ]

Jade -- bOoks of the Raksura
Jade is never going to complain about how long a mentor's healing takes again. Raksura heal quickly, but there's a limit to it, and Jade is stuck in her Arbora form unless she wants the bruised ribs to transfer to flight muscles. (Not that her winged form really fits well in the train, but it is the principle.)
She's been pacing and her claws would be wearing gouges in the material of the floor if it wasn't made of tough stuff. She looks up as soon as someone comes near the sickroom door. "What?"
Sprockets and Skysong -- Team Two
Raksura don't make flying boats, but Jade has seen a number of different designs in the Three Worlds. Which means she's happy to carry a non-flying passenger over to hijack one of them. "We can remove the pilot, and then take the flying boat. Can you figure out how to fly one?"
OOC: Have a prompt for Jade? (I also have visual references if you need them. But blue-silver scaled humanoid person who doesn't usually bother with clothing, and can shapeshift to get taller and with 20-feet span wings.
an apple a day
It was clear by her reaction that she was clearly curious about the newcomer. Maybe that's what the other individual noticed too. The next inquiry will snap Nike out of her thoughts as she says without thinking,
"I was just wondering if you were okay." After some thought, she'll add, "...and that you kinda look like a dragon. I never saw one before. Except for one who was mostly in human form." The only thing they stood out about them was the horns, symbols on their face, and their language being of bell chimes instead of speech. It made her wonder if the individual beside her was a dragon or something else. She couldn't help feeling curious.

Meng Yao | The Untamed
The first characters that leap from the book in his hands astound him and Meng Yao watches them intently. For safety's sake, he doesn't close the book. What if by doing so he trapped them forever? He certainly doesn't want tiny imps disturbing him at odd hours! It's bad enough that he must be imprisoned on this train.
So he lays the book on the floor and tries to nudge them back onto its pages with the toe of his boot.
"What spell is this?" he queries, pursing his lips when the characters refuse to be led. Taking a seat, he continues to watch them, trying to solve this mystery. It would be thoughtless of him to just leave them. Movement gets his attention and he peers around one of the shelves.
"Hello?"
An Apple A Day
Being tossed down stairs is no small matter. When he arrives on the train, he is limping noticeably. That means he spends at least a few days being healed. If his golden core was stronger, this wouldn't be such a fuss.
It is rather boring after awhile and he can only sleep so much. Meng Yao ends up exploring the other rooms and levels, using a crutch to help him along.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you."
Only he isn't. He longs for any company badly.
Re: Meng Yao | The Untamed
And that some of them weren't used to people not of their own species.
"You're not. I'm very bored."

Agent 8 | Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion | ota~
[It took a little while, but Eight has gotten used to the way the train worked. She was surprised how quickly she became used to it, though reasoned that this wasn't too different from living in the metro. The scenery was better too.]
[Which is enough to get her going on a photo tour of the train. Taking out her octopus-shaped cellphone the Octoling is moving up and down the cars, taking photos of anything that catches her interest. Places? Check. Interesitng objects? Check. Strange people? Check check check check. She's not being especially subtle about it, too, and may be taking an uncomfortably long time making sure she's getting just the right shot.]
How Not to Use Medical Equipment
[Three days is a pretty long time to be confined to quarters, and most would probably find it unbearable. She tried to tell them that she couldn't have broken her shoulder because she doesn't have bones to break, but they didn't listen. Ugh. To Eight the toughest part was dealing with the monotony. Towards the end of the first day she was examining every single piece of equipment to see how it works. On the second, she was taking the opportunity to exercise and keep her limbs in motion. The first part in her human form, and the second half as an octopus.]
[By the third day, restlessness had started to consume Eight. She needed something to do. With no sign of any fresh music and the same drab medical gear to look at, the only thing that made sense was to tinker with some of the gear and try to fashion a weapon. The first part, a storage container, was easy. All she needed was to flip over a canister of cotton balls and rig up plastic part of a stethoscope and she had a way to store ink. The weapon, however, was the bigger issue. She could use the IV bags as a kind of basic storage, but a gun would need a storage unit and a way to pressurize the ink... And a roller... well, that wasn't going to happen... maybe a brush? Maybe she could use the mop...]
[Not wanting anybody of the medical staff realize what she was up to, she looked to her fellow residents.] Hey. I'm going to check out the storage closet. Can you let me know if somebody is coming?
Into the Sky
[How strange. Not too long ago Eight was making her way into the depths of the Kamabo Corporation, and this felt... similar. As she made her way down the corridor, she could hear the clamping of mechanized droids. Not wanting to throw off the security any further, the former Agent ducked into a black hallway. Her mission: to get to the top of the building to reach signal relay and break their transmission signal. By that point the machines would probably still be active, but their ability to coordinate should be disrupted which would make singling them out easier. Getting up to the top easier said than done, of course, and she didn't have usual backup.]
[Confident that the mechanized droid had moved past, the Octoling flung herself out of the room into he hallway. She was about to make her way up the next flight when she started to hear a noise. Cautiously, she reached for her augmented swiffer-broom, ready to swing at whatever or whoever it was heading up the stairs...]

Asajj Ventress | Clone Wars | Super OTA
Her approach to the problem was a bit...different. She had no particular attachment to the creatures, of course. She hadn't even seen what one of them looked like. Which didn't actually matter. Whatever this strange menagerie was she'd been thrown into, what mattered was what had always mattered to her: success. Completing the mission.
So she stowed away on one of the enemy airships in a shipping crate. When she emerged she kept to shadows at first, watching the employees man their stations. Long enough to realize they were not trained soldiers. And that most were unarmed.
With a grin, then, she stepped from the shadows and ignited her lightsabers.
"Flee, little men, flee!" she called with a cackle, starting a panic. And then, as they did so - she began to destroy bits and pieces. Quick flicks of her sabers to wreck components as she made her way through the airship.
It wasn't subtle. But she wasn't feeling subtle today.
no subject
She supposes she may have worked with worse in the past however, or at least that's the excuse she's giving herself while keeping literally to the shadows. (The fact is, she absolutely Has worked with far, far worse) The woman- her shadow armor pulled over by default, goggles in place- blinks as Asajj quickly moves through however. Well.
Subtlety is out the window then. "...I suppose we're taking the direct route then," she half sighs, drawing her own blade all the same as she melts out into solid existence. Her own sword is large- and pure metal, swung with concerning amount of ease when necessary. Makes for a handy little shield for deflecting anything sent their way, but with so many unarmed even that isn't needed.
"It'll make this quick at least...I hate this ship," she mutters, grimacing at the organic appearance. Even without seeing one of the whales, it's pretty clear this thing is made of it. Ah, but-
"...aren't we supposed to be commandeering this?" Hold on, they can't just wreck it, they're meant to fly it!!

(The Great) Papyrus | Undertale
"This is...horrendous! Outrageous! An affront to lovers of literature! Did my bone-headed brother inflict his low-brow taste and complete lack of work ethic on the library staff?"
There is a very tall skeleton perusing the mostly-empty shelves with dismay, his bony fingers trying to color-sort the few books as best he can. It doesn't take long with such a small selection, and soon he has his pick!
"This story should be pleasing. It isn't quite Fluffy Bunny, but...I shall enjoy the tales of a train that can't possibly be worse-off than this one!"
The skeleton awkwardly folds himself into a chair and reads the first volume of the Merry Little Voidtrain tie-in series, cheerfully oblivious to the green train and pink bunny now running circles around his feet.
an apple a day
"Excuse me, nurse?"
It's the fifth time the skeleton has called today. His voice crackles over the comm. He's perfectly polite still, but getting a little restless in this small room.
"There is no need to keep me here! Monsters do not need to wait as humans do. We heal ourselves with the magic of a full belly. Even those of us without bellies! All I need is a proper meal. Preferably oatmeal or pasta...but definitely not this pink monstrosity with the face of an innocent childrens' toy!"
There is a squelching sound as Papyrus makes quick work of that tray.
sprockets: team three
A mission! As a royal guardsman in training, Papyrus is surely qualified! Unfortunately, the nature of this planet means he must disguise himself (poorly) as a human. He sports a large cloak, gloves over his bony fingers, a mop of a wig, large sunglasses, and a scarf tied over his mandible. Perfection!
Now comes the more challenging part: to show the humans the error of their ways. Despite his already-considerable height, he feels the need to start stacking soapboxes for his big speech. His voice is a little muffled with the layers of disguise.
"You, teammate! We must craft a staircase with these boxes, and ascend it to project our voices! These humans need to learn that the majestic whales are their equals, and our friends!"
The Library~
Her interest piqued only to find a rather glaring pair of read kicks. Her attention raised to the owner... only for the book to collapse and fall on a completely undeserving nautilus.
A skeleton. A living...? ...breathing...? skeleton. Eight rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing thi--nope, the skeleton was still there. ...and he was talking. What in the...?
With interest and terpidation, the octokid hopped from her bench to get a better look, wondering what sort of scientific tragedy would culminate in this creature. And whether or not he(?) was friendly...

Dr. Siebren de Kuiper (Sigma) | Overwatch
[Sibren has gravitated towards the library car's upper floor; after all, when the multiverse - which evidently exists, beyond a shadow of a doubt! - presents one with an entirely new avenue of questioning, one must first grasp the basics. Research, therefore, is necessary, and in lieu of a computer, the nonfiction section of the local library will do.]
[He has piled the most promising volumes on one of the desks and is currently skimming through the first, searching for relevant information. Sound may be muffled up here, but he is still very much keeping an ear out for noise from the lower level; after all, one must be aware in a research setting, in case one's lab partner accidentally sets the place on fire.]
[(No, this is not a lab, but it is a multidimensional train, and one must assume that oddities will occur. Better to be prepared.)]
Sprockets and Skysong: Team One
[Fieldwork. Fieldwork requires a different headspace. Siebren - Sigma - is familiar with the concept.]
[That said, he is not often assigned to stealth missions - this is territory best suited to Sombra - but he is here and Sombra is not, and the mission must be completed. It helps that he is floating a full six inches off the ground - detecting footsteps is difficult when your opponent simply doesn't have any.]
[Getting into the offices is simple; getting around the guards is far less so. As it is, the two just ahead haven't noticed the infiltrators yet. Sigma catches his compatriot's eye, then looks pointedly at the guards, then back at his compatriot. Perhaps a strategy is in order; he is open to suggestions. Stealth or violence?]

He places a small pile of books in the tiny section labeled 'Worlds We've Visited', showing covers of a few asteroids, a snowscape, a tropical island, and a dusty red planet. ]
Mm. Good luck cracking the code.

Wen Ning | The Untamed Series
[Library]
Wen Ning holed himself up in the carriage where the library was located. He couldn't wait to get his hands on the various books it had to offer. He had missed spending days just pouring over books and scrolls studying.
Well, he had been intent on studying if the book didn't come to life.... He made a face as a little person began running around. Trying to shut the book did no good as the person fought back and forced it back open. Wen Ning instead found himself chasing the person around the carriage thinking he had to get it back in the book.
[An Apple a Day]
Wen Ning carefully made his way through the carts, finding this whole train unsettling. Everyone else appeared at ease by it, but he still had a hard time getting used to it. This technology was beyond his time.
He had heard that the carriage had a medical area and wanted to check it out. Perhaps, lend a hand. He wondered how advanced the medical field was here? Maybe his own methods could still be of use. He was already impressed by what he saw as he carefully picked up various items and pamphlets studying them at a glance.
"Hello?" he called out, unsure of who to ask and who ran this cart.
[Wild Card]
Feel free to write your own prompt. I'll be happy to tag along.
random car
And he just happens to be lounging as Wen Ning decides to head towards the medical car. His eye brow quirks up slightly as he notices the other Wen member. They seem to be multiplying at a rapid rate lately. A small smirk plays at the corner of his mouth, curious of what kind of reaction this one will have to him given their..history.
"You look lost."
