Event: Crashing Down
EVENT INFO: OOC DETAILS
On the 24th Quicksand, there will be a train announcement just after breakfast (that will be posted on the 14th April, forward-dated). The train has picked up signals for a catastrophe mission, which they believe to be similar to the one experienced during the month of Egret, involving the Kingdom of Biq. This was the event that first introduced the world destroyers (also known as the world eater), the shapes in the sky that led to the destruction of Diagad and Enrara.
The train plans to respond, and will lead Voidtreckers to system #78961112094711 - the system of Osiga, and voidscout Anan's world. Here they will help in getting people tethered, and onto their own voidcrafts to escape the approaching danger
This event will last for 1 IC day, and OOCly runs from 16th to 22nd, with a conclusion going up on the 23rd. Every objective leads to the same desired result:
Save as many people as possible.

Red TeamOOC Note: The difference between Blue 3 and Purple 3 - Purple 3 is going out to people too far to give them SCAs, Blue 3 is helping people who are vulnerable and therefore need extra help either emotionally or physically to engage with the tethering process. It's a subtle difference, and a distinction that you don't need to worry about much since we imagine there will be a lot of blur between tasks!Orange Team
- Help to keep people orderly as they wait to move into void space
- Assist Blue Team and Purple Team in searching for individuals
- Restrain hostile individuals through non-lethal means
Blue Team
- Help the void technicians move people into void space.
- Help people board voidcraft
- Use any technology to help locate people and direct Voidtreckers and others to them
Purple Team
- Convince families and groups to move to void stations.
- Help to keep people calm and to support them
- Help to tether people and life unable to tether themselves
Notes. You will be arriving on planet Osiga. It may be that the ministry will find it more useful to send you off world.
- Spread the word and assist with transport and logistics.
- Assist the voidministry to reach further out groups.
- Tether people too far from tethering stations
Please note. Due to the nature of this mission wearing your SCA is non-negotiable. This voidcraft will not allow any voidtrecker to leave this voidcraft without wearing their SCA.
The luggage carriage will be opened with warm wear for Osiga's climate.
➜ HISTORY.
System #78961112094711 is a vast system with hundreds of galaxies and planets. It has been void active for about fifty years but space travel has been common place for over a thousand years. A treaty and intergalactic government make sure planets are peaceful, trade and people move freely. The free flowing of people means that culture is mixed and shared though the planets do each have their own distinctive cultures, attitudes and languages. There is an intergalactic language which was created as the galaxy came together, this is taught in schools and almost everyone will speak at least their own language and 'Starspeak'.
It is very rare to find someone who hasn't travelled to at least a neighbouring planet but despite their travelling ways people remain very strongly connected to their home planets. Because of the amount of space travel families are large and often span many solar systems with most people being citizens of four or five planets.
There are of course those that aren't citizens of any particular planet. Those descended from those who cut ties with their worlds and went to the stars forever. Born in space they speak Starspeak as their first language and often are found working on space ships. Called 'Children of the Stars' officially and often the 'ungrounded' colloquially.
Void tourism is quite big and people are used to void travellers. There are a handful of void mission organisations and it is a very popular choice of career for young people.
Osiga
The specific planet that the voidtreckers arrive in is called Osiga. Osiga is a planet that is built on strong community bonds, a necessity due to the month of darkness each year. There are no countries but smaller clusters of people oversaw by small elected boards who make sure resources are shared fairly. It has a high level of technology and holds one of the largest void hubs in the system.
This will be the main planet that the voidtreckers are working from, though there will be an opportunity via one of the prompts to leave the planet, for those who choose to.
➜ SETTING, CLIMATE. Osiga is a freezing planet, slightly warmer than the last time Voidtreckers visited, but still requiring warm layers.
SUMMARY: The Voidtrecker Express will be arriving at the tethering station, which is part of the multistorey voidcraft carpark, and is connected to all the trains, buses, etc. etc. It's your run of a mill sci-fi, clean and simple-looking building connected to a very large transport hub.
The Voidtrecker Express will have been able to send a short warning message ahead of their arrival that will give the ministry a small window of time to spring into action before the voidtreckers get there. This means that the Voidtreckers will just need to work in Osiga for the most part. The ministry presence on Osiga will be bare bones as they focus on all the rest of the galaxy knowing that that Voidtreckers will be assisting in Osiga.
The void platform will look like a large transport hub too, with different kinds of transports. Irue Grotto is a half-domed city that mimics cavern dwellinsg, but is situated inside a man-made hill, not a mountain. Outside Irue are smaller communities, but also indoor farms, zoos, a recycling plant, waste plant, etc.
TETHERING STATION: The tethering station is connected to the multistorey the Voidtrecker Express will be dropping off Voidtreckers in, and is where the Ministry work. It has a large waiting area and multiple access points for vehicles to pick up and drop people off by, and then the actual halls and rooms for tethering people. Just think of a sci-fi train/airport station and you've got it.
VOID PLATFORM: Due to the vast amount of people being tethered all at once, they're being tethered into a liminal space that looks like a large transport hub. There are many different kind of voidcraft here. Trains, buses, craft that look like regular spaceships and even a few that look like sea ships. The people arriving will have a tug towards the right one, but it's very busy and so people will be asked to go and help get everyone on board the right craft.
IRUE GROTTO: The Irue Grotto is a city built into the rocky ground, with three-forths covered from above by its stone ceiling. Designed after the dwellings of how their people used to live, there aren't actual real roads here, or room for vehicles of any sort - it's all stone pathways and multiple tiers. It's popular with tourists, but also homes many families. Here's the OOC post for when it was last visited!
OUTSIDE THE GROTTO: There are some resorts, an Osiga zoo, as well as a few communities built into hills and even the mountains. The distance between places is quite large but they will have access to transports to get there quickly.
Those that travel far out of the city will still see some of the sors: blue-ice that don't leave a fluffy substance when it falls, but instead reacts to other sors particles, creating frosty patterns that rise up, creating incredibly tough stalagmites. Any that fall on your person or clothing will spread out like a thin spider's web. They have a weak glow, but the more they gather, the harder and brighter they stand out.
➜ TECHNOLOGY.
SUMMARY: As many of the communities around the Irue Grotto are spread out, transport will be offered: larger vehicles for the bigger communities, and for smaller, speeders which can hold up to four people. Inside the tethering station, people are being placed in cryo-pods.
The SCAs being handed out are similar to what Voidtreckers have, with the ability to tether a person from where they are. Their bodies will go limp once they've successfully tethered.
There are also scout drones similar to the ones in Praeus, but without weaponry. These will be useful for searching for people, and anyone back in the tethering station or on the platform would be best to control these.
For other tech possibilities, those with characters good with computers can be asked to send map data to SCAs from the ministry building. Or just come to us with any ideas of your own!
TRANSPORT: Osiga is not a huge planet, but outside of the Irue grotto the communities are spread out and remote. For some of the larger settlements the ministry will send voidtreckers out on large transport, to gather as many people as possible. Voidtreckers will travel with them and help people board and get to the tethering station.
Anyone who is going out to far flung communities with portable tethers who do not have the means to travel quickly themselves will be allowed to use some of the small speeders. These can hold up to four people. The ministry won't allow anyone who is obviously a child to pilot, and will at least watch voidtreckers drive around the hangar area to make sure they know how before allowing them to take them out. They aren't too fussy though, this is an emergency after all.
TETHERING: The tethering station is where the traditional tethering happens. People enter pods that look very similar to cryo pods, for those that would recognise them. The ministry scientists will explain that they are skipping almost all of the procedures here, and going with the most basic aim of getting people into the void. So the tethering is pretty simple for voidtreckers to pick up.
SCAs: These come in bundles with a small handheld tablet device. This procedure is even quicker and easier than in the tethering station. It's a case of a person wearing the sca and then someone using the tablet to scan the SCA's and tethering them. This can be done in batches of people for speed.
SCOUTING DRONES: Similar to the drones used in Praeus, but sleeker. They are circular floating drones that can be remote-controlled from a great distance. Used mainly in search and rescue operations, they can pick up lifeforms, and scan an area to help calculate the best means to break through material, etc (in Osiga's cash, sors hazards). They don't have weaponry, but they can be spoken through.
➜ POWER RESTRICTIONS. None. Powers will work as normal here.
➜ LOOTING, SCAVENGING. There's plenty here to loot, though time is very very tight. If your character is looting/scavenging please let us know in shenanigans.
➜ NPCS, CIVILIANS. The people are understandably very confused and pretty frightened, but the culture on Osiga is one of community spirit. After all they endure very long and harsh winters, which require working together to thrive, and those Osiga-born will do their best to get peopel sent to the platforms. However, given its status as a popular tourist destination, there are still plenty willing to make use of the chaos.
The ministry workers will be very task focused. They will make sure voidtreckers have the technology and knowledge needed for their tasks but won't have much time to instruct them. They won't be impatient but will be very no nonsense and focused on saving as many people as possible.
You are, as ever, free to write npcs and civilians in your threads. If you want an NPC written by an NPC controller please fill out the form in the NPC thread below. Anan will be on the world and have a prompt on the event.
➜ SCA. All Voidtreckers must wear their SCA in order to leave the train. Being without their SCA on the world won't have any huge detrimental affect other than the cold being difficult to deal with and those on the world who aren't yet tethered to a voidcraft will not be able to understand them.
However in order to save as many people as possible, voidtreckers will be on the world until the last possible second and will need to use their SCA to evacuate back to the train. Those who do not have their SCA on at this time will die.
➜ PROPHETIC DREAM.
You are lying on your back looking up at the sky. You are comfortable. It may be that you lie on a soft patch of grass, on a sandy beach or in your bed from home. It may even be that you float in water, lie on a rooftop or on the branch of a tree. The important thing is that you feel safe here, you feel comfortable, the temperature is just right.
You are looking up at the most beautiful sky you have ever seen. It may be the bluest of blue. It may be a night sky pricked with a million stars. You may be in space itself. It may even be softly raining or a sky of dark tumultuous storm clouds. But it is beautiful, whatever you deem to be so.
For a moment everything is just right with the world. But then, from the edges of your vision, there are dark shapes. You can't quite name them. But dark, jagged, wrong. They blot out your perfect sky.
You are falling. The ground beneath you has vanished. Falling not just downwards but upwards, outwards. Your consciousness has shattered and you are falling in every direction that ever was, falling through reality itself.
There is a scream, a scream of a million voices. A scream that fills every sense of you and you realise that one of the voices in the scream is your own.
You wake up.
➜ REWARDS. Even though this isn't a full mission we are going to still give mission rewards.
Threads of 10 comments or more where mission goals are being worked towards will earn you 10 team points. To claim those please fill in the form below and reply to the rewards header.
If you would like to handwave participation, please also use the above form and tell us which tasks your character got involved in! You can even use this if you're participating.
Note, that is is possible to do multiple tasks in one thread (e.g, you're helping someone who can't move far outside of Irue Grotto tether, tasks Blue 3 and Purple 3). So if you think the thread hits more than one, put them down!

Questions?
Re: Questions?
Will he be able to leave one gate at the tethering station and move around with the other gate like a mobile teleporting point to either bring civilians to the station or VoidTreckers out to different areas?
Are there any limitations caused by what's happening? (Or even OOCly for whatever reason?)
Are there any areas that ping Than's sense of death? (Because he'd concentrate there first)

Also, do the world eaters arrive everywhere simultaneously, or are they more of a wave? Zetta might contemplate something on a macrocosmic scale to inconvenience or annoy them depending on logistics.

Re: Questions?
1) I'm guessing "canonically powerful jewel that can nuke evil easily" is not going to make a dent on them, right? Because, Usagi's going to step up to fight them, no questions asked.
2) When you say "die", are we talking about "they'll return on the train the next day" dead or "wiped off the plane of existence" dead? Because, again, she's gonna want to fight them.

Shenanigans
Re: Shenanigans
Also given the world and reality is going poof he absolutely will seek to try and siphon off aether to replenish himself. Nom nom nom. Discreetly of course!
I can't remember if Osiga was considered a void nexus or not but he has studied and successfully gathered aether mixed with void before on the training montage world. (Let's Get Down to Business). Then he was learning and being careful not to damage the environment. Here? Well. c.c
Edit: side note that he would be mindful when trying that there are already reality eating entities around and be making sure to avoid being a meal himself.

Now, he IS assuming these things are legitimate threats to anyone who isn't him, and he's not actually interested in engaging in a battle till near the end a little before they show up, when either his SCA, his god powers, or his demon powers can get him back to the train. 'Cuz he doesn't want to somehow make them arrive early. But he's very, very curious about how these guys stack up on the cosmic power scale.

Brief!! Witness of the World Easters
Also what just their initial presence in the sky seems to do to it. Does aether (as a building block of reality) seem to pull to them like they're black holes immediately or does it go chaotic? Basically what does reality do just in their mere presence.

Oh and probably clothes and or shoes. A lady needs options here, and she has a personal armsband. Time to make use of it.

Rewards!
This thread can also be used to let us know what tasks your characters are doing if you are wishing to handwave.
Koumyou Sanzo and Devero
Their first "target" is going to be the nice Osigan lady who helped them get engaged, Kriketja, plus her neighbors/whoever else is in the area. Then they'll continue to do the above tasks in general.
Right now it's hand-waved, but if we manage to start a thread on it before time is up I'll edit this comment.

Got a late start on threads so who knows if I'll reach ten. However, Elidibus would have spent a large majority of his time into efforts of saving as much life as possible in exchange for what he used to restore himself by taking some of the aether of the world.
Going to outlying regions, looking for the hole-in-the-wall places and establishing a connection with portals that lead to collection points to for transports and also helping to get people back to the grotto without having to wait for transport. These could have been used by evac teams and civilians alike.
He would have used every manipulative trick (except possession) in the book to move people forward; from making symbolic Osigan-themed illusions to soften the impression of the portal gates he makes, to mixing truths and partial truths; observing the nature and reaction of people he met and shaping his approach with this in mind. His focus for this would have been the more remote locations. If any Osigans were given to superstition, he would have ruthlessly exploited that. If they refused, he might have gone away at first and then later went back and kidnapped them, bound them with spells and sent them to the grotto.
He would have been no less diligent with animals; using binding magic and teleportation so other evac teams could easily select and tag what was feasible to save.
The core of his contributions are meant to 'increase the amount of lives potentially saved' and 'facilitate'. While he would have worked more directly in speaking with, evacuating, and quelling conflict in the remote regions, the bulk of work elsewhere on that front is definitely in the hands of other personnel. In no way do I want this to be an Elidibus Show. A lot of his direct efforts will probably also be discreet in the sense that a lot of civilians wouldn't know the face behind the portals, phenomenon, etc. He's fueling it with the aether of Osiga (keeping only what he used to restore himself). In a sense, one could even say it's Osiga itself helping its people escape.

Tagging Esteban - 10+ on this thread.
Rezo primarily worked on the three Red Team tasks ("Help to keep people orderly as they wait to move into void space," "Assist Blue Team and Purple Team in searching for individuals," and "Restrain hostile individuals through non-lethal means") with a side of Purple Team task 3 ("Tether people too far from tethering stations")

Plotting!
Dragon Riders
You're welcome to plot with me here for this purpose, and you're also invited to say that your character(s) made use of Jingyi for transportation purposes over the course of the day. He's not holding back, they need to move too quickly.
Also if you need someone to save you from CRASHING SOME KIND OF VEHICLE he can also literally do that, because who doesn't want a large, long noodle dragon catching their vehicle and/or self and keeping them from crashing?
