About you: Heyo! I’m a player in the EST. I'm married, have two sugar gliders and like to make artist alley merch and study storyboarding. Rp always inspires me to doodle, so chances are you may see some chronicalling of Mono's adventures here :>

Character: Mono

Canon: Little Nightmares is what happens when you mix the Borrowers with Silent Hill. Children exist as disproportionately smaller beings compared to the rest of the world and all adults have morphed into monsters hellbent on eating them. It's best to think of it as an actual nightmare of the waking world; objects and people are distorted projections of things we know from our reality. The monsters that adults have warped into mimic things actual humans do, but without purpose, representing only twisted echoes of what they should be. As such Mono has surface knowledge of many things even if he has no experience with them. He can speak and does comprehend language but making noise used to be a death sentence with all of the danger in his life so it will take some encouragement to get him using words.

Cabin and team: B:8 Red Team!

Little bit about them: Mono here is a 1.5 ft tall child of 8 (or at just a bit below the average height of an adult's knee) who still believes in the power of friendship, despite the bleak hellscape he comes from. His entire game relies on survival through teamwork and he is willing to fight for his bonds (even if his fear can get the best of him at times.) Given his background, he is going to be pretty weirded out that everyone here are not only friendly but sane enough to SPEAK! Wrapping his head around being allowed to feel safe and happy will take some doing but once it sinks in, this kid is gonna thrive.

Mono has some pretty nifty tech powers to help him get around, but his incredibly small size will still make any task a fun challenge. As brave as Mono tries to be, at the end of the day he is just a traumatized kid coping with all he has endured and trying his best.

Hopes and dreams: Guardians! Bullies! Roomies! Pets? The best part about Mono is that absolutely everyone is new and interesting to him. I'm really looking forward to seeing what traits he picks up from people as he tries to learn what NORMAL is from a ragtag train of worldhoppers.

I'll do my best to keep spoilers to a minimum, but if you WANT to know more of his background, please hit me up! There are plenty of ways to involve crosscanon, especially for people more knowledgeable about the multiverse, psychics or mindreaders who want to understand.

I would love to set him up with flashcards to get used to matching words and concepts (maybe from the game train car?), I also plan to have him watch the cinema and do the reading lessons on the ICP to speed up his learning at a quicker pace, if teaching is your bag!

Please don't feel as though you need to be responsible for him though, I promise, he has had it worse...

YES I doooo lay it on me! I nearly tagged you on the TDM; Ghost seems really cool, I love a good shapeshifter.

We'll have to see if he ever has a reason to want to take a peek into Mono's head but this canon isn't called a Nightmare for nothing, it won't be pretty.

Mono can't do a lot of combat with his tech powers but he can do passive things like finetune a signal or travel through electronic devices with screens. Either way, technomancy brofist! Looking forward to playing together!

I mean, Prey is genre-ways similar to zombie shooters except it's jumpscare aliens on a space station with bonus extremely real examples of the bad things humans do to each other, so it's not likely to bother Ghost much. He may be the youngest character on the train but he's seen Some Shit.

Ghost can't do much combat technopathy unless he winds up somewhere with combat machines (at which point there may, admittedly, be metaphorical cackling and yelling of FIGHT FOR MY AMUSEMENT), his combat abilities are mostly Other Things. jumping through screens is very cool though, Smallest Child.

Anyway, welcome, I play this dude here (albeit with some CRAU that makes them Weird) who tries to feed and look out for everyone. They're technically purple team but they sub out into Red team a lot, so. Expect to see a bit of them around on missions, at least.

Oh that's great! I actually really love the assigned team dynamic, it's so neat to see everyone get assignments and figure out how to take on roles for their group. Yes :> He'll have to meet Soldat if not just around the train, than definitely on a mission!

Soldat is in the kitchen car like 60% of the time, and tends to go hunting for new people the first day anyway. With cookies. I'm sure we can work something out :D

Oh boy. Ray is from a canon where demons use child farms as food sources, so he could sympathize if he were to open up about it. These two should definitely interact!

Oh wow! Yeah I was reading your entry up there and wondered if 'Farm' really was that literal. Yikes, poor Ray I never anticipated Mono meeting someone who could relate to THAT aspect of his life right out the gate!

I'll definitely have to look into ways to get him aware of that knowledge or vice versa O__O

YES! I'm so glad you brought Lapis as well ♡ I am happy to assume the TDM is canon if you like? (i believe it's allowed as long as it's something that can feasibly happen. Perhaps we can ask some other players if they want to assume there was a food fight as well for extra believability?) It might mean having to put off meeting on the intro post but it looks like they'll both not be too talkative upon arriving anyhow.

I'm planning to tag back regardless. They're nearly out! (And I figured I'd save Mono noticing her water in action for more impact)

Either way, yes ^^ more Mono-time, for sure! I agree, I think they're good for eachother.

I'm good with it! Yes, that is something that's allowed, I believe, if the players in the scene agree. Up to you if you'd like to ask anyone else -- I don't think we're required to policy-wise, but up to you if you'd like that extra oomph. ;)

Yeah, as a result, they probably won't be able to meet on the intro post, but a freaked out Lapis might alarm Mono for a first impression anyway, I don't know. :/ She'll be a little wild.

Sounds good on Mono noticing the water! Do as you see fit; I'm totally along for the ride. ;)

And awesome! She'll be patient with his speaking. I don't know if you know Undertale, but she was friends with a Frisk (which is who Mono is reminding her of a bit).

Aw yeah, I adore Undertale! (And I know SU too!) Lapis is not alone, he has quite a few similarities to Frisk, there is already fanart hehe. It's a good comparison, shame he couldn't fall into THAT monster world instead!

And perfect! Yeah, we'll go with that as the first meeting then \o/ give them both some time to get their bearings before encountering each other.

Poor Lapis, I hope someone finds her gem in the trunk quick. I find it hilariously appropriate she wound up on team Blue though; that's great!

Oh yes! Good Omens is one of my favorite books of all time and I thought the adaptation was great, so Crowley is always loved. :>

I don't know how you feel about spoilers, but even in general, a demon nanny is good because they'll probably be less freaked out by any more morbid topics that might crop up or Mono using any of his powers unexpectedly.

I don't mind spoilers. This canon interests me but it is unrealistic that I'll get around to it any time soon. I'm down for anything though. Crowley is very very close with Alice Liddell and he spends a decent amount of time in the games car.

Oh excellent! Yeah I figure Mono will be in there pretty often so if nothing else they're sure to encounter each other there. And yeah, if Crowley can understand Alice they definitely have a good basis for working with Mono. Either way, however it goes, I'm excited :> looking forward to it!

This nightmare is gonna be nice to the child who's suffered enough nightmares already. But, yeah, Shadow can respect resourceful kids who've survived some real shit. She'll try and give a hand, but not more than wanted.

That's such a cute concept. Yes <3 I'm a sucker for bonding with eldritch/nightmare horrors, though yeah Mono might take some time to not be as scared of them, especially if they reveal any different sort of form. I see in their bio that they can sense fear and such though, so at least they'll be able to read his mood fairly well enough to gauge his willingness to speak with them even if Mono isn't feeling so vocal.
