Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

What to do on a train.

The problem with trains is you are unable to get off them. Whilst hurtling through an ever changing void that’s probably a good thing all told but it can lead to boredom. Or at least it does if you don’t think creatively enough!

What can you do in a standard coach? Well the obvious, most practical use is a comfy place to sit, in relative solitude as long as no one sits too close. Read a book if you’ve the points to buy one, or write in your journal.

But thinking outside the box a standard coach is also a pretty good climbing course, up and down over the rows of seats, there’s even gaps under the seats if you want to add to the challenge. Or you could just play the floor is lava.

Escorting Dralite

Dralite: Small, bat like creatures. As chicks they are about the size of a beach ball, however it soon becomes apparent that they are predominantly made of wings. Unfurled the creature is tiny with massive wings, spanning a meter long each. It is obvious why they need an escort, they cannot yet fly and their movement is severely hampered by their disproportionate wing size. They will happily cling to any friendly creatures.

Adult dralite are about the size of a sheep with large wings and large claws. They are teritorial but not overtly hostile unless provoked.

Dralite have a screech that will floor most creatures, knocking them down disoriented. As chicks their screech will stun, giving them time to escape from danger.

This world has a sizable colony and a group of humans who preserve and look after the huge dralite nests. However it seems like a group of chicks have gone missing, poachers are suspected, probably planning on selling the chicks off world.

Team One Is to track down the missing dralite. There are clues, footprints, other tracks and rumours of an unauthorised camp of humans in the area. Follow the tracks, check out the camp, see if you can find who took the dralite chicks and where they are being kept.

Team Two Is to rescue the chicks by any means necessary. Be that sneaking in and stealing them back or bursting in to challenge the poachers and put an end to their operation once and for all.

Team Three The remaining chicks still need looked after, especially with many of the volunteers helping hunt down the missing ones. They are needy creatures that cannot mover very far on their own so rely on clinging to other species to get around. You might just find yourself with a new dralite hat or cloak clinging to you, trying to get comfy. They shriek whenever they are afraid or don’t get their way and are likely to wrap their wings around your head if things get too scary. Good luck!

Around the Campfire

Once the chicks are back safe and sound it is time for a celebration. A huge BBQ and campfire is set up for a tasty feast. Just remember to share the meat with your new dralite friends or they will get sad and sulky and that could lead to trouble.

There’s lots of food and afterwards the dralite conservationists will tell stories around the fire, inviting the trekkers to do the same. Wanting to know of the different worlds they have been to, the adventures they’ve been on. Or if real life tale telling is not for you then they will settle for a good ghost story.

"Well now you know two, and I have no interest in ordering you to do any such thing." She couldn't have Ben, for his own good, but that meant that she didn't want anyone. Not that this fool needed to know that.

"Which immediately makes me prefer you to Akako." He says cheerfully.

"And besides, why does your parentage matter? You aren't a robot, I can't see why you have to automatically be a villain just because your parent is."

Pause.

"Unless you are a robot?"

No really, he's been fooled before.

She gave him an odd look. "Is it such a problem for you if I am a robot?" What was it with him and robots?

"I had one that looked like me try to kill me before." He says matter-of-factly, still juggling.

"Gotta check."

"You do realize," she said, sounding amused, "I neither need to be a robot nor look like you... to try and kill you." As she spoke she mazily stretched one leg, to see what he would do if she "accidently" kicked into the path of his juggling with her purple spike heeled boots.

A challenge! He promptly starts working around her leg.

"Well yeah. But you haven't yet! And that one wanted to take my place, so... I kinda assume that you are quite happy being you, and not me."

She gave a rude snort. "Oh I very much have no interest in being you." Not that she was happy being herself, but he didn't need to know that. She considered a moment then brought her leg back to where it had been, trying to kick his hand lightly as she did.

Pretty sure this wasn't what Evie had in mind when she wanted Mal to get to learn to have fun with other people on this train...

"There you go then!" He grins at her as he shifts just enough to dodge the kick unless she wants to get particularly enthusiastic.

"As I said, already a far better prospect than the only actual witch I know. Do you have minions?"

A small smile pursed her lips and she mentally apologized to Evie, Jay, and Ben. Because they were so much better than minions. Still, this guy didn't need to know that. "Mmmm, of a sort." And if nothing else, she was pretty sure she could rally the goblins now that her mother was gone.

"Hm." He ponders this idly. "I suppose that puts you a bit more towards the evil side of the scale, but so long as none of them are hunchbacks who remind you that Beelzebub needs to talk to you I figure it's not that bad."

That's a very specific criteria Kaito.

She gave him a slightly odd look as she laughed. If Evie hadn't been there, her answer would have been very different. More menacing. But for her best friend, she was trying.

"Only a bit? I'm hurt," she said with a fake pout.

"Well I could add points for actual magic I guess..." he says cheerfully.

"Good has magic too, though," she pointed out, refusing to let him see how much that actually stung.

"Not in my world." He shakes his head. "Although I suppose if yours does, then I can't add those points. Uhhh. Hm. I could add points for minions?"

[mal_contented]

She laughed. "Good has minions too, they just choose a nicer name."

[stealsyourheart]

"Ah, but then choosing a nicer name counts as a good thing, right? So that's still a point."

[mal_contented]

"Unless it is done to throw the minions a bone to keep them loyal."

[stealsyourheart]

"True, but if we go by motive, it becomes trickier than if we go by ~aesthetic~!"

[mal_contented]

"And if we were going by aesthetic..." She waved her hands to take in her long purple hair, her distressed and studded purple black and green leather jacket and matching pants, the spike heeled purple and black boots. "Where would I fall out, I wonder?" she asked, smirking. She knew how she looked. Rotten. To The Core.

He sits up and considers her look.

"Hm. It's a bit too Harajuku to be truly villainous - definitely rebellious though."

[mal_contented]

"Harawhatku?" See, you're not the only one who could make up words.

[stealsyourheart]

"It's a district in Tokyo. Famous for youth fashion! Not as much these days, but you can still get some cool kids in eclectic fashions on weekends. Lots of different substyles too. Yours...mm. I'd peg it as punk or visual kei mebbe!"

[mal_contented]

"Now I know you're just making words up." Her best friend was all about fashion. If these were real terms she'd have heard them so often she could identify them in her sleep. Punk was the only one that made any sense there.

"Am not." He says cheerfully. "But I figure since you aren't Japanese, you probably wouldn't register them. I am though. Harajuku's only a train-ride away from my place. It's a good spot to source costumes."

Oh the incredulous and very nearly offended look she gave him at that. "Costumes?!"
