Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

Training Gym

Fight club have finally gotten a gym to train in. Train carriages make strange gyms, long narrow spaces. But this has mats, balance beams, climbing apparatus. Pads and training dummies for punching. It also has large blocks that look a little like what you might find in a children's play centre but can be used to make obstacle courses or provide cover in training exercises.

Set up a course, practice fighting or try and learn how to throw a punch! There are plenty who will help, people who take training super seriously and let's face it, people who want to ambush others from behind oversized foam blocks.

Games

For those for whom fighting is not an idea of fun, or those wanting more relaxation, the games carriage has a whole collection of different games. Board games, card games, dice games. There are many games about trains but they aren't the only type.

There are low tables in the carriage to set a game up on and plenty of beanbags and cushions to sit on. Grab a game, grab a friend or a complete stranger and get playing!

Water Maze

The latest mission has taken the voidtreckers to an underwater maze. They have been given wet suits, helmets and breathing apparatus- lightweight boxes that strap to their back, connect to their helmet and filter air from the water. A powerful and dangerous artifact has been stolen and the race is on to get it back before it is used for ill.

Team One

Plenty of monsters and foes have been sent to try and retrieve the item. Giant crabs, strange eels. Even people with fish tails and the ability to breathe underwater. All are dangerous foes and fighting underwater is difficult.

But team one are the vanguard, keeping the monster levels low to allow team two to push on through the maze.

Team Two

Hopefully team one will deal with the monsters, but the odd one might sneak through. Team two's main job is to solve the maze, because the thief is in the centre in order to perform his ritual.

It's a race against time, the maze is made of coral and walls of seaweed that are impossible to cut through. Solving it requires a quick mind and some determined swimming.

Team Three

For those not wishing to brave the water, or those whose skills lie more in helping others. The island where the artefact was stolen from needs help. The temple was ransacked and some of the islanders were injured. Help them fix their homes, put the temple back to rights, tend to the injured.

Cleaning the temple is a big job, but hopefully by the time the artefact has been retrieved it will be able to be restored to it's rightful place.

[ the laugh that escapes him at those words is genuine and startling to xiao xingchen, his eyes widen as if he had not expected someone like xue yang to make him laugh. at all.

he presses his lips together. then tries (and fails) to sound severe: ]

[He is amused but that laugh even if the other appears flustered by it.]

You've already been entertaining so apparently you are.

Generally depends on how tired you are, but they can be awkward to get out of if you're not used to them. I'll give you a hand, though, if you want.

[He offers his hand to help the other man up.]

More intention. Baz mulled over that for a moment. Maybe that applied to him, too, in some way or another. Intention, inflection, pronunciation--it was all important in magic. He knew it didn't work quite the same for everyone, that each magician worked their magic slightly differently, but the basics were still the same.

"I think it's the language they speak here," he admitted. Or, more specifically, the phrases they used, the way they talked. "I've had this kind of trouble before." But he'd worked around it then, so he was (fairly) confident that he could work around it here.

I would like them to stop bothering us, and the people here.

[ Although perhaps it's just the natural order, true. ]

[ Whisper listens - nods to indicate that she understands. Nothing beyond that for a moment.

'Normal' is rare here, huh? ]

[ Her volume is... bit low for a control group, on the other hand. Quiet, even while conversing normally. Curious if being a control means she's also... average. ]

[shuanghuas]

[ he reaches up to grasp the offered hand to get up, but it really throws him off balance the entire thing is — well, new. xiao xingchen is normally very graceful but he stumbles a little into his new friend. ]

Apologies, I miscalculated.

[shuanghuas]

I cannot arrest you here, but do not think I will let you get away with being - with being - [ this is baby xiao xingchen, when faced with an older, more mature xue yang... he must look as naive and young and inexperienced as he had been when they first met. rather than refined and controlled, those are clearly a facade xiao xingchen used, a mask he wore in his own manner. ]

I am not here for you to tease me.

Oh, I just do it like this!

[Huaisang rolls off of the beanbag onto the floor, landing on his hands and knees then simply gets back up onto his feet. It might not be particularly graceful and looks a little silly but it gets the job done!]

Or you could just ask someone else to help pull you up. That works, too.

[Huaisang smiles, brushing off his knees.]

That's a neat trick.

So the teenager has fire magic, huh? Joscelin's a bit jealous. That could come in handy in a place like this.

He smirks at the bow, and holds out his hand to shake instead. "Joscelin Fitzthomas. Call me Joss; everyone else does. 'Joscelin Fitzthomas' is an appalling name for a child. Where are you from, Zuko?"

Oh. [ well, that looks simple if a little undignified but not the worst thing ever. he might as well learn how to get off these on his own rather than to ask any passing stranger for help.

right? yup.

huaisang smiles and xiao xingchen finds himself smiling back, even as he shuffles off the beanbag by rolling onto his hands and knees before getting up. ]

That seems unnecessarily complicated for a chair.

[xue_yang]

[He laughs and folds his arms in front of his chest.]

You make that so easy, Daozhang.

[Inwardly he is flinching. He wants this to go so much better then it is. But it is hard to not just fall right into his old ways. He shouldn't squander this chance to be by Xingchen's side again.]

Please..proceed with your training. I won't say another word.

[shuanghuas]

He notices the main with a cane when he enters the kitchen. Xiao Xingchen tends to notice these things, make note of them and when there are those who are vulnerable nearby. It is an ingrained habit of his hopes of always trying to help people around him.

That is why, when he gets up to fetch himself something to drink, he politely stops by Rufus. "Since I am already up, would you like me to get you something?"

Training Gym

Being a goddess makes you lazy about things sometimes. Especially one whose job descriptions involves more of the lifting heavy things and walking long distances and less combat and training. Which is to say, Persephone is only walking through the car, on her way elsewhere, gently swinging a pillowcase of vegetables. But the confusion is obvious and hard to ignore.

"I don't think many people on the train do anything with archery. There's a lot more--hand to hand fighting." She holds up a fist and gestures, but finds she can't actually point out which is meant to be hit and which is not. "...I think they do it with partners. I'm not really a fighter."

[shuanghuas]

[ just to be utterly petulant and contrary, childish even, xiao xingchen does not continue training. he folds his arms and stares at xue yang with suspicion. it would be funny if their shared history were not so stained by blood and pain - well, xue yang's past and xiao xingchen's future. ]

I don't see how I make it easy for you to tease.

[xue_yang]

And yet you seemed riled by what I've said. And isn't that what the outcome of teasing is supposed to be? Which means even with barely trying I've gotten you to that point.

[Xingchen is too pure. And purity is the easiest target.]

I am not riled. [ except he is, and he seems to understand that by denying it he is merely confirming what xue yang is saying. xiao xingchen turns pink and then looks away. ]

I won't let you rile me up. Anyway, you haven't explained how you came to be here. You should be in Qinghe, under the judgement of Chifeng-zun. [ that is because you didn't ask xue yang this, xiao xingchen.... ]

I guess so but I don't mind it. I like soft things.

[Beds, pillows, cushions, fabrics, hair... It's all good to him! Huaisang stretches, glancing over at his new companion curiously.]

[He lays down on the mats that he has camped out on and puts his hands behind his head.]

That's didn't really last very long. Besides, no matter where I was apparently I was destined to end up here.

[ xiao xingchen circles around him, looking down and suspiciously at xue yang. he's clearly looking to see if jiangzai is somewhere at hand and whether he ought to fetch shuanghua or not. ]

So, you're escaping your punishment by being here?

[xue_yang]

[He holds up both hands so that Xingchen can see they are empty with no intention of going for a weapon that he no longer has.]

I escaped that a long time ago. This place feels like a new punishment.

Rufus pauses as he looks the other man over. He didn't seem to pose a threat but appearances could always be deceiving. But he gave a polite nod of his head, leaning on his cane slightly.

"Are you familiar with what is available here? I was just looking for something I don't have to prepare or cook." He had never even so much as heated food for himself and he didn't think that this was the time to learn. "I can get it myself, I'm not familiar with what is available though."

[After moving the dummy aside, Masumi went to sit on the floor off to the side, taking the opportunity to relax now that she was done her one sided spar.]

"I heard about the missions that happen, so it's nice to be able to practice."

[Is it sad that Wester would recognize that scream anywhere at this point? (Yes. Yes it is.) They startle from their trance at his high-pitched, extremely manly screech, immediately rushing to his side.]

[Normally, Wester would be ecstatic to see someone else from their universe—or adjacent to it, at any rate—here, but, well. This isn't normal.

The imp-sized Ghostrick Witch and Mummy hovering above him giggle for a moment, realize the gravity of the situation, and begin panicking. Witch repeatedly bonks his forehead with her staff while Mummy tugs on his lapels.]

H-Hey, are you alright? Oh my god, is he breathing? I can't tell!

That's because you don't breathe!

Oh, right.

...I think you're right, though. He's dead!

NONONONONO!

I CAN'T BELIEVE I JUST KILLED SOMEONE WITH MY BOO!

"Oh, you're a words person." Ronan pauses before rifling through the pockets of his pants and, eventually, holding out what looks like an incredibly standard voice recorder. "Here, anti-translation device. There's a weird translation magic on everyone here so we can understand each other, and it's probably twisting your words."

The object Ronan is holding is magical in nature, that much is clear. What's less clear is why it's magic, because it looks exactly like the type of voice recorder any reporter would have except for the fact that it's the same orange as the hoodie Ronan is wearing.
