Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

Knight Quest

Upstairs in the games carriage there is a VR game set. There are enough headsets and controllers for four people to play. One of the games is Knight Quest!

A game that can either be played on single adventure mode or with the other three headsets in a campaign mode. It is a typical fantasy rpg about a young hero who is searching for a magical item to save the world. The story is simple but fun and engaging. The hero has a sword and shield and fighting in this game requires some physical skill, but practice makes perfect!

Games are a good way of gaining skills so team up and save the world, fighting monsters and practising fighting in a safe controlled environment! Just… Don’t bash into each other.

Making your own Fun

The standard coach doesn’t have all that much in it. Just rows of seats, though at the front of the carriage seats have been ripped up and bookshelves installed.

It’s a good place to read or write in their journals. Or annoy other passengers by climbing from one side of the carriage to the other without touching the floor.

Rehabilitation

The train has arrived at a collection of planets. That is good because your task is finding a place for the lindusi (large lizard creatures, recently rescued from a dying planet) to be settled and the more choices the better.

Team One

The first job is predominantly scouting. The scientists in charge of the lindusi relocation project have given the team a list of important features for a planet to have.

It’s like a scavenger hunt but for running water, certain types of plants, prey animals and other features. They have lent the void treckers some basic scientific equipment for testing the environment.

Team Two

Not all of these planets are going to be empty of hostile creatures. The second teams task is to accompany the first team and keep them safe. They have been given shielding devices, easy to use energy shields large enough to fit two people behind. They are handheld and a quick press of a button will activate the shield.

There are plenty of predators, from bears to strange flying aliens that want to eat you. Good luck!

Team Three

Once a suitable planet has been found the third team are to get the lindusi there. In shuttle ships. They aren’t too difficult to pilot, which is good because the lindusi relocation program is very short staffed.

Once they are safely landed it is a case of releasing them into the wild, in safe locations away from any immediate danger. The lindusi are still recovering from their trip through space after all.

Knights Quest!

"Take that!" The loud eager voice could be heard in the next car over as Yuffie shouted at the game. She'd enjoyed her time at the Gold Saucer but she hadn't remembered seeing a game like this. Reeve would flip out if he knew this technology was being used this way and the thought was enough to make her smile.

It was also a pretty fun game. Mostly because there wasn't a Sephiroth trying to actually destroy the world for reasons that baffled Yuffie to this day.

She was pretty good at the game but she had a little bit of trouble following the rules. "What?!" Anger seeped from her words. "What do you mean I can't throw my sword? You can totally throw swords?!"

"That's so dumb!"

Contents: Interested in going on treasure hunts? Want to know where your left shoe is or maybe you're missing something that you swear you put away in your train car? First you must prove yourself! There is a hidden treasure located in one of the cars. I hid it so it's hid VERY well! Let’s see if you can find it!

This is a great chance to become a treasure hunter! Not a bad deal if you ask me. You can find some pretty awesome stuff too or you can let all that awesome treasure be lost! It's up to you.

I know treasure hunters. I'm not one.

But I suppose if I find it I can return it to its proper owner rather than trusting anyone else.

I admit, I don't get a lot of things, but that just doesn't seem to make sense.

Because you guys have to find it. What if you kidnap me and want to torture me for the information? That would be cheating.

Do people do that type of thing all the time? I've heard about people not being good, but I never knew it was that bad.

Knight's Quest -- oh goody, the CR I always wanted

In one moment, Edge heard a kindred spirit, and stuck his head up the stairs to the second floor so he could bang on the wall for emphasis.

"I know! No swords, no staffs, no axes, no spoons, nothing but knives and throwing stars! It's like whoever made that thing never met an actual ninja in their life!"

Knight's Quest -- yes!

"This is crap!" Yuffie kicked at the air, the VR obstructing her view of everything not currently in the game. "RIGHT?!" She agreed as she tore off the visor. "This is so dumb! You can totally throw swords in real life. I didn't even see throwing stars! WHERE ARE MY STARS?!"

She missed her weapons.

She picked up the game console and shook it. "Give me my shuriken!" Yuffie was having a rough day."

"Seriously!" Edge clambered up the rest of the way onto the second floor of the car, slapping the wall as he did. "Bad enough I have all of one here personally, I can't even enjoy them in that fake world?!"

Yuffie's attention took a sharp left turn when she had processed the phrase 'I have all of one...'. The console dropped to the ground and she skipped over it to inspect this stranger more closely. He was cute though she didn't immediately see a weapon on him.

"Oh? Show me. Show me."

He might want to be careful or he was going to find his only weapon pilfered from him.

Oh don't get him wrong -- he'd noticed she was super cute and would have flirted with her ten times already, but talking ninja stuff had taken priority!

He reached over his shoulder into his pack, then pulled out a ring with four overlaid blades like some sort of bizarre dagger. A little twist of his wrist, though, and three of the blades slid along a groove in the ring to lock into position, leaving him with one large fuuma shuriken to show off.

Yuffie watched with interested as Edge sheathed his blade. It was similar to her own and she instantly wanted it. "It's impressive." Her head tilted to the side while her palm rested confidently on her hip.

"But do you know how to use it?"

Knight's Quest

The red feline's tail twitched at all the loud noises as Yuffie played her game. It wasn't until the last cry though that his one good eye peeked open to look at what Yuffie was doing. He couldn't see the game inside the headset but he could see her physical actions at least and from the context of her words he got enough of the picture. He wondered what she was trying to fight inside the fantasy world that she wanted to throw her sword at it.

"Perhaps the game cannot recognize such a motion. They're usually much more limited than the real world, aren't they?" His calm voice came from the complete opposite side of the room where he rested idly. No way did he want to be too close while she flailed about playing such an intense game.

Knight's Quest

Yuffie released an angry shout as she ripped the VR set off of her head and threw it across the room. It was a shame that she was so good at throwing things because it sailed across the game car and clattered against the wall. Hopefully it wasn't broken...

"Well it should!" She shouted as she kicked the game console. "Swords can totally be thrown. This is a fighting game! It's supposed to let me fight. It didn't even have shuriken!"

He might want to stop her from also throwing the console because then the game might break for good.

Nanaki's head lifted off his paw as the thrown VR set hit the wall, his eye wide. Had it been a little closer he would have complained. It seemed a waste as it was. He hoped it wasn't broken. Others played frequently with these game sets.

The big feline lazy stretched and moved to sit on his haunches, indicating his attention was more focused now. "You would have to take it up with whoever made the thing." A beat. "If you're looking for a fight, why not head to the gym and see if anyone wants to spar there?"

There was a good chance that she would be able to find someone. It seemed less a waste of time than the video games, too, but maybe that was just because he couldn't participate in those games so readily.

"ARG!" Yuffie dropped the console and while it wasn't a graceful drop, it didn't look like she broke anything. "I wanted to play a game with a weapon. I have nothing here. It sucks! I hate it. It's stupid. Sucks." She hissed and threw her arms to her side.

The flailing was helping because Yuffie's energy was slipping away and after her last flail, she collapsed onto the seat behind her.

"This sucks. I'm so bored."

She didn't want to fight anyone because she didn't want to lose.

Red XIII made an effort not to point out that the game had a weapon, she just hadn't liked it's limitations. Instead he kept quiet and let her wear herself out of the tantrum.

Once she settled onto the seat the big feline stood up. He moved over towards her with languid steps until eventually he was close enough to touch her. Then he curled his tail around his paws as he sat down on the ground next to her and after a moment leaned just enough so that he was touching her legs.

"There has to be something else to do. Why not one of the other games?" He nudged her slightly with his nose and then pointed towards the board games.

Red XIII was much wiser than most of Yuffie's friends. Of the group, Tifa was the only one with the tact to point out when she was being absolutely ridiculous and not have a ranting raving Yuffie as an end result.

Yuffie watched her friend pad over to her seat and frowned at the light nudge. It wasn't that she actually minded the suggestion but just having something to do wasn't the only problem... "Uuuuh..." She exhaled a heavy sigh and leaned forward so that her elbows were propped up by her knees and her chin was resting in her palm.

"That isn't the problem. I feel so useless here. My stomach is always hurting and I can't do anything!" She'd had a mission back home, first with the restoration of Wutai to its glory and then her work with Reevee in reforming Midgar. She'd had various other obsessions and to-do's between those things but there was always something useful to do and as ridiculous as Yuffie was, she hadn't feeling stagnate.
