Stable Duties

The latest carriage to have been added to the Voidtreckers express is one for large animals. It contains stables downstairs and smaller places for animals upstairs.

Until now the bottom half of the carriage has been mostly empty, with large animals new to the options of creatures voidtreckers can purchase from the shop. But as voidtreckers wake up one morning those going through the carriage will find they each have a creature in them. Large as a warhorse, with six legs, long necks and longer noses. What are they? What do they eat? Why are they here?

No answers are readily available but anyone who gets close will get a nose in their face and then an enthusiastic giant nuzzling them. They are friendly it seems. Very friendly.

Friendly Competition

The lower floor of this carriage is open and sprawling, with two wide, low tables and plenty of cushions and beanbags. The walls are lined with shelves and wooden chests, both filled with games. Board games, card games, you name it, though train themes feature heavily. On a shelf of its own sits a case of Duel Monsters cards.

The upper floor is split into two. One half has a pile of oversized games - lawn jenga, twister, giant connect4 - and the other, sectioned off with soft rope barriers, hosts a screen, a console, and a variety of video game controllers, including four VR headsets.

Perhaps you’re testing yourself in one of the VR Crisis simulators. Perhaps you’re learning the rules of a competitive card game a little too well, and your friendships are suffering accordingly. Perhaps you’ve convinced someone to play twister with you..?

Eggageration of Harm

The mission the voidtreckers are sent on seems like a very strange one. The annual spring festival of the kingdom of Fahr is in ruins after a hoard of raiders wearing rabbit masks wreaked destruction, smashing up festival stalls and stealing the intricately carved eggs that had been dedicated to the goddess of spring.

The king of Fahr suspects the raiders come from across the border from the neighbouring kingdom Fehl and has amassed his army to take the eggs back. The king of Fahl denies everything but has been given an ultimatum, if the eggs are not returned the two kingdoms will go to war.

Team One

Investigate what really happened. Are the rabbit masked raiders from the kingdom of Fahl or were they just opportunist criminals? Is war their aim or did they just steal for profit? Try and find out what really happened and, perhaps even more difficult, report the correct findings to the king.

Team Two

Find those eggs! The bunny raiders left clues of course, footprints and trails. Follow them and try and find the eggs before time runs out. The raiders it seems hid most of them, perhaps to return for later, perhaps once they realised they would be caught eventually. Recover the eggs and get them back to the shrines before time runs out.

Team Three

Even though the eggs are the crime the king of Fahr is concentrating on many people had their stalls and livelihoods wrecked. Help them by fixing up the stalls, recovering merchandise and even re-baking their cakes and other spring treats.

[it's not often that lan sizhui visits the medical cart, given he has cultivator powers for himself and empathic healing for others, but he's found that it never hurts to be prepared by carrying extra bandages, medicine, ointments, et cetera. today, he's found himself low on a few things and figures no time like the present! since he isn't doing anything else at the moment.

this does, however, prove a good distraction from everything else that's been bothering him the past few weeks too.

so, with qiankun bag in hand, sizhui's made his way through the train's corridors, clearly looking like he's on a mission, though momentarily comes up short when he enters the medical carriage and someone's already there.] Ah, [comes instinctively while he pauses at the door, wide-eyed.] I'm sorry, I didn't know someone else was already in here. [though he softens afterward, a faint smile curving his mouth, his free hand lifting to gesture.] Is it okay to come in and collect a few things? I'll be quick, really!

[Xie'er turned around at the sudden voice and widened his eyes in surprise. He wasn't expecting anyone coming needed help or supplies. The other was younger and appeared to be dressed in a similiar manner. Only their robes were a simple white-- a stark contrast from his black robes decorated with leather. From his guess on the appearance alone the other was a cultivator.]

...I'm actually not in charge....I was waiting for to see if I could find the person in charge of this cart. If there is someone?

[In his hand he had some sort of cream meant to help heal wounds which he was going to pocket...but that was going to have to wait now.]

I mean...if you want to get stuff I won't be stopping you.

[deferences]

[his posture straightens after this person turns, head tipped sideways a moment while he considers the newcomer in front of him. (or so he's assuming, anyway, since sizhui's never seen him during his entire stay aboard the train and he's been here long enough to recognize just about everyone he passes by.) the similarities in their attire does draw sizhui's attention, his gaze drifting over the dark, leather-clad robes before redirecting toward his own all-white ones. ordinarily, he'd be wearing the train uniform, but laundry must be done, so!

getting curiouser and curiouser now, but he doesn't hesitate to say,] Actually, I'm not sure we have a medical professional taking care of the carriage anymore? [sizhui vaguely recalls there was someone at some point, though who knows if anybody took over after them?

he mmns with affirmation, politely inclines his head then steps further into the room, heading toward one of the nearby cabinets where he knows some things he's looking for are located.] Thank you, gongzi. Are you looking for anything in particular? Perhaps I could help you find it.

[Xie'er stepped aside, allowing the other to seek the supplies needed. He gave a small smile. It was rare for him to interact with people near his age.]

So...then what if we wanted to help in the medical cart? Do we just start and lend a hand when necessary?

[It seemed strange to not answer to anyone.]

I really was just curious to see what was in stock. I didn't need anything. Do you have some healing skills?

[inside this first cupboard, sizhui finds bandages, rolls of gauze and pads, and medical tape, all of which he collects decent-sized handfuls of and begins placing into his qiankun pouch. the only time he pauses is to address the other young man again, who he would've guessed might be older than himself, but that's what one gets for assuming . . . ]

Well, uhm, I think there might be someone in charge? But I cannot for the life of me remember... [he wrinkles his nose.] You might want to make an announcement on your SCA about wanting to help and people ought to take you up on your offer.

Yes, I do have some. [a moment's hesitation so he can stop what he's doing, twist around and cast a glance over his shoulder.] Are you in need of those instead?

[he doesn't look injured at all, but one should never judge a book by its cover.]

[Xie'er gave a nod in understanding. Perhaps, he will do that later once he feels more comfortable using the device. It felt strange and was so different.]

--Oh! No, I'm perfectly fine! [He gave a sheepish grin.] I was just curious. I figured you either needed them for someoe or were saving the supplies for another time.

I have some knowledge in healing myself, which was why I thought I would come here to see if I could start helping.

[deferences]

[there's obviously no rush for him to do anything he isn't comfortable with right away; it's a suggestion to his question, which is all sizhui can offer at the moment, seeing as he genuinely cannot recall who has taken over the medical car and its contents.]

Okay, good. [his turn to nod, followed by another, wider smile of his own.] The latter of that, actually, since it never hurts to be prepared.

Do you? Haah, what kind of healing? [curiosity killed the cat, let's say. (but one must never forget either: satisfaction brought it back!) knowing what healing abilities someone else has helps him figure out if it's something they haven't encountered before and how best to utilize such powers when needed.]

[Xie'er was slow to respond as he figured out the best to phrase why he knew various healing tactics. He wasn't going to outright say his work involved dealing with alot of poison...so he had to know how to make remedies and what it did to the body. Plus, being an assassin involved dealing with various injuries not just himself but his team too. He just opted to not mention his work at all.]

Er...I know how to clean the wound, stitch wounds, and casterizing the wound if necessary. I can set the bone as well. I also know various herbal medicines to reduce basic ailments. Wounds produced by magical properties or curses are a little harder to figure out.

[that's completely fine, sizhui's got the patience of a saint, and while this newcomer considers how he wants to answer his question, he'll keep right on collecting the supplies he'd come in for. ointments and salves next, then he'll move on to painkillers, antihistamines, and perhaps some healing heart-shaped candies afterward.

while being aware xie'er could create cures for poison would be nice, this boy is too polite to (immediately) push for further information and accepts what he offers at face value.

another quick, affirming head-bob,] All of that is great stuff! Yes, magical afflictions do prove to be difficult to understand sometimes, but... [he trails off, momentarily considering, expression filled with a bit more determination as he reassures,] It's alright, the train has some books on-board and we have chances to order more if given enough points.

[Xie'er gave a nod in understanding. The ability to earn new things through points held his attention and he titled his head. He began to start looking at the various medical supplies now seeing that the other was pocketing various supplies.]

How do you earn these points? I have a few things from home we can use. I might be able to relicate it if we have the right supplies here too.
