IC Month

This month is the month of Poi. Days can be found here.

The thought of the month is "If you light a lamp for somebody, it will also brighten your own path".

This means: Any thread where you tag into another character's post or top level in January or February will earn you two bonus points.

Threads that fulfil this criteria can be submitted during February AC. You may find it easier to keep a tracking list of threads for easy compiling of bonus AC.

The ingredient of the month is Corned Beef. Recipes are here. All the ingredients can be found in the storeroom, refreshed at the platform, and characters are welcome to make other food with them.

This month’s chore assignments are:

Orange: Cleaning bedrooms and passenger areas
Blue: Meal Preparation
Purple: Laundry
Red: Cleaning kitchen and bathrooms

The Train

When passengers return to the train from the platform they will find a new carriage has been added. The art carriage:

This carriage is a single carriage, with the standard corridor with doors on each end. To one side there are a set of tables and chairs, with two large sets of cupboards. In one is a variety of paper types, plain and coloured, along with painting pots (oil, acrylic, watercolour, and gouache), brushes, charcoals, pencils, and tools for erasing and sharpening. There are also ink pens and brushes, as well as manga screentones.

In the next cupboard is a space for putting away easels inside, as well as palettes, and also a selection of different sized canvases. Some clay can be found on the higher shelf. There's a sink set in the corner for washing up at, and some aprons with a train symbol on the breast.

On the right side is a larger table, another cupboard, and two clips that hold in place removable mannequins. Here people can work on sewing, with the cupboard holding a simple selection of sewing needles, tape measures, sharp-tipped scissors, a basic selection of threads, seam rippers, and whatever else you may find in a beginner's sewing kit. Basic white fabric is also supplied, as well as one with a simple train-pattern.

Around the centre is a free space, usually occupied by pottery wheels. A whiteboard sits in plain view on the wall with marker pens, as well as a small bookcase next to it. Very basic drawing books can be found here, with room for passengers to add their own. The walls are in pastel colouring, even the doors, of soft oranges, pinks and blues.

As a reminder, you can list things that characters have added to the train here. Just comment under the header of the carriage to which you are adding. There is also a handy spreadsheet here!

The following changes have been voted on this month:

~ The cinema now has a stock of popcorn kernels to go with the popcorn machine, this will be refreshed every platform day though it will require someone to move the kernels from the luggage carriage to the cinema.

~ The stores now have a selection of fruit and herbal teas as well as vegan substitutes for any of the basics and the monthly recipe food.

~ The stone garden now has weather. Next to the door at the front end of the train there is a panel simply labelled 'weather'. This allows for some basic options: rain, snow, wind and heat and random. The 'weather' comes from pipes at the top of the carriage and is a bit clumsy but will make weather effects throughout the stone garden.

~ There is scaffolding against the walls of the Greenhouse carriage, it goes up to where the ceiling begins to curve. There are walkways and ladders so gardeners can tend to their crops. If a character is growing crops let us know here!

~ The beds are all fitted with sheets in team colours and each has a comfortable fluffy pillow with a pillowcase in team colours.

~ Each morning after the platform as well as the morning announcement characters will wake to a small panel opening above their bed and a wrapped candy dropping onto their pillow.

Quick question, particularly since it was why Emporio dunked his votes down on it in the first place, but did anything change about the bedding/beds themselves? The voting category was for the bedding to be upgraded, with the candy seeming secondary to it.

About them: OC, Orange team, sleeper L2:B. Teenage mage and healer who's had a rough life and has only recently gained some self-esteem and started building that backbone. (His world took a perfectly good healer and gave him a tragic backstory and now he has anxiety.) Compassionate and caring with a buried temper. Good at helping; bad at asking for what he needs in turn. Sassy as hell once he starts getting comfortable around you. Please hug him.
Plans: He had a fairly public fight that resulted in damaging his friendship with Thanatos and rattling his confidence badly, and while the subsequent mission wasn't great, being able to help people did restore some of that confidence. He's still got some work to do, so he'll still be a little uncertain, but he's also learned that he needs to tone it down a bit, and that he does need to take others' worries about his well-being into account. For now, he's going to try to repair his friendship with Thanatos and try to take it easy to do some thinking.
Event Plans: THAT EVENT THOUGH. Ryo will be heading home - or at least Arkwood, which is home enough for him - and once he's convinced that it's not yet another illusion, he'll be trying to bring his train friends and loved ones home to meet his friends and his mentor. Come meet Endon and Orion, or tattle on him to Keita, or talk to Lia - she came up with that great hot chocolate he makes, and maybe she'll give you the recipe! (She won't, but you can try.)
CR wanted: He really needs a mentor or adult figure on the train - someone he'll listen to if they tell him to sit down and rest. He could also use more friends his own age. Aside from that, just about anything! Be his friend or adoptive sibling, let him help you or heal you, teach him and be taught in turn, the works. He's figured out his Diagad powers, but he's still up for helping others with theirs, especially new healers. A warning, though: if CR starts out negative, it might not recover; he holds a grudge (Kabuto).

About them: Space marine from Red vs Blue with CRAU from Balance and Imaginary Island; Purple team Sleeper U1:D. Special ops agent who got betrayed by his program before it collapsed, had his psyche destroyed by a traumatized AI, rebuilt himself with revenge on the mind, and then completely failed at that revenge and the subsequent revenge on the group of lovable idiots who made his initial revenge plot fail. Got adopted by said group of idiots and is now one of their team leaders, and also a lot more chill about the whole thing. Most recently got pulled into Faerun, learned some magic, helped defeat a dimension-eating entity, and was about to go home when he ended up on platform. He's very happy. (He's not very happy.)
Plans: Wash was here for Diagad, so he's going to remember those events and those people (Yondu, Otoha, Senku, fellow boss fight people, Della). He's going to want a sitrep - didn't he just beat the dimension eating entity? what the hell? - and may also need an explanation as to why he can't summon his familiar on the train. You know - your usual settling in stuff.
Event Plans: Wash is staying on the train, because his game canon point is Weird and I only feel like NPCing so many people. He's not gonna be happy about it, but given the way his life goes, he won't be surprised either.
CR wanted: Anything! People to drink with; people to spar with, people who don't mind a good 2 AM talk; and he has a tendency to adopt kids and give them combat training if need be. Basically anything. :D
Things to avoid: Wash is pretty resilient, but I don't particularly want to break him again; if a thread starts going in that direction, I may ask for a rewrite or a change.

Okay, so I haven't watched RvB since the end of the Chorus arc, but Wash is awesome and I'd love to throw this mess of a human being at him. :3

K is definitely good for drinking buddies and the occasional 2 AM talk. He could also stand to be adopted and given combat training, even if he'll probably complain about it literally the entire time.

He does know his way around handguns and has a pointed fondness for explosives, but definitely skips leg day. And every other day that involves effort, tbh.

About them: From Yu-Gi-Oh. Former big tech CEO and sneering rival person, now team tech support and begrudgingly cooperative most of the time. He still has Issues with friendship but he's better.

Plans: At the moment I'm leaning toward not letting him go home on the event. He feels it would be giving up on the crosscanon people he's lost, and he doesn't quite trust the train has it together. It'll be hard for him to see so many people go, he has some abandonment issues to work through bigtime.

Before that, though, he'll be continuing combat training and maybe making games/prepping some VR fun. He really needs to spend more time with his hobbies.

CR wanted: Tech heads, lab partners, gaming rivals...or just anyone who can teach him something new. I really want to commit to building more CR and follow up with people I haven't threaded with lately.

Plans: She's recently heard from the Ministry that everything is fine in her world, and that apparently no one died during the thing she'd been taken from. So she'll be very relieved that everyone back home is okay, even if it seems her fate is still up in the air. But she'll be feeling much better, and during the event she will opt to stay and keep helping out, since things are fine back home.

CR wanted: All the friends! Fellow teenagers, mentor-figures, found family, I'm here for all of it!

Plans: Avoiding Razzy’s plans to talk him into getting therapy. Improving his fighting skills and control of his powers, since at this point he’s mostly sure that he’s going to be walking into a war when he gets home.

For the event Danny will be headed home, He's been very worried, so time to deal with the chaos of an Amity Park that had been missing Phantom for a year. May be open to worldhopping towards the end of the event.

CR wanted: He could really use more mentor-type friends, especially people who have experience with the superhero life. Also more teenage friends and people to practice fighting skills with.

Character: Will Stanton
About them: Solemn wizard child with far too many responsibilities. He was recruited into a magic war at the age of 11, and he is now 13 and the only one of his kind left in his world.
Plans: Find friends. Will just arrived last month, from a canon point just after all of the others of his kind decided to leave the world and all of his human friends forgot all about magic and their adventures together. He was left behind as the only person left in his world who remembers. He is terribly lonely, although he will likely not admit to this.

For the event Will will likely either get stuck on the platform or choose to remain on the train. He'll be available for worldhopping.

CR wanted: Other kids, adult friends, people to nerd about magic and anthropology and languages with.

Plans: None yet, but he'll quickly find interest in studying what the void is and how it acts and this tethering system. He'll definitely be in the lab a lot and if there's not a lab inventory yet (which I don't see?) he'll likely start making one for himself. Possibly interested in creating new weaponry technology.

CR wanted: Any and all, really. Would love to connect with science and magic types but I'm just here to see what happens, lmao.

About them: A former exorcist who has been to many worlds at this point and has grown to try and not be so reckless. Doesn't mean he's stop completely but he isn't as bad as he use to be.
Plans:
I only really have plans for come event which actually works with what I was going to originally do with Allen funnily enough.

Allen will not be going home, mostly due to the fact he'd just go back to Genessia and he had nothing much there at that point along with the fact the game never actually ended with an ending so /shrugs.

The other factor is what I want to focus on.

Allen has been away from home for 2-3 years now and it's been slowly dawning on him overtime. He's been keeping how he feels to himself really well but with this his frustration will start creeping out. Being unable to go home because his world is no longer a thing. He has no clue if it's actually okay because it was taken by Darkness. (Ah, Star. Never actually finished either)

Basically Allen will hit his breaking point. So... have fun.

About them: Former(?) member of the Ascendancy's secret police, current head of the Sith Empire's secret police & besties 5ever with the current Emperor. Ultimate loyalties unknown- thus the (?)- yadda yadda, something something, broken moral compass and the role of Chosen One / galactic savior pushed on him despite him going "No, God, please, no! Nooo-"... His secret powers are snark, an unfailing ability to survive things he shouldn't be able- to up to and including killing SWTOR Satan aka the Immortal Emperor-, and rage. Aloof and standoffish as a general rule, but not really a bad dude once you push past that.
Plans: Aden's new, so I have no real concrete plans for him as of yet. He'll be getting used to things, probably moody about being thrown into yet another situation that he would have considered impossible in his youth but that is now just par for the course. He's also the type to get restless easily, so expect to see him keeping himself busy by doing all the chores, exercising, finding ways to keep his mind occupied, etc.

Haven't 100% decided on what he'll be doing for the event yet though, we shall see.
CR wanted: For right now, looking for more positive CR. People he can chat with, preferably those with kind of dubious moral compasses themselves, and persistent people who won't run for the hills when Aden's inevitably grumpy. Also open to rivalries and negative CR though, it's just not as high of a priority right at this moment.
Things to avoid: Anything romantic is a no-no as he is married at home. Anything beyond that, nothing comes to mind.

About them: Pre-Train: Yokel blue-alien battle slave turned space pirate biker captain etc. Broke some important Ravager rules back in the day and lost his found family. Raised a son, lost everything, died, actually did get a proper Ravager send-off and might actually find out about it.

Current: Same old same old. Has a found family and nicely slotted himself in with the other mentors and parents on the train. Had the nice realization that, even if he misses his old team, he doesn't think he'd get along with them as well now because he realizes being a 'parent' changed him significantly. So most of his friends are also parents or mentors.
Plans: -He's not been in the greatest of places for some time, and he's actually started voicing things that set off some concerns for some of his friends.
-He's got an ongoing project to leave info for the Ministry on comings and goings but I don't know what this month's plot will do to that. I put plotting for that here and location info for that here.
-His AU son is showing up! Found family expanding.
-He's sidelong mentoring some people. Still very much down for Yondu teaching people, and since there's a wide variety of teachers he's been kind of focussing on "how to defend yourself if you're depowered/trapped/at a disadvantage". Though he very much wants to start training people with a focus on teamwork since he does run across a lot of "I can't trust people to get my back".
CR wanted: -More members of Train PTA.
-Anyone that wants a mentor or dad-figure or crazy uncle.
-Anyone that'd want to be friends with an old doofus like him.
-Aliens
Things to avoid: Don't break his arrow. Don't do extended mind-control. If he sees someone acting particularly psychopathic he'll give them a wide berth.

She is gentle and motherly and a huge nerd who wants to learn as much as she can about everyone and everything she comes across. Her past is littered with death and disaster but she heaves her own burdens without complaint to others while taking on their problems too. Could probably kick someone's ass but chooses not to.
Plans:
★ Immediately find the library and medical carriages and learn as much as she can and establish herself as a healer should anyone require it or if there's some kind of roster that she needs to sign up for so people know.
★ For the event she'll be staying in the train to mostly do the above, along with making friends and talking to as many people as she can because this train is fuckin wild and tbh what even is a train? Wow.

About them: He is a good boy animatronic joining the train this platform from his horror game. This bear is the friendly sort, and automatically takes to being fatherly with children/those that seem to be young. He likes making friends and in general is more forgiving than he probably should be.
Plans: He is brand spanking new, so he'll be learning how things work. I will not be having him participate in the 'return home' event, just because that seems silly to me. So he will be on train for the event, which can be another chance for CR with others who are staying.
CR wanted: Yes? Freddy is good at turning most CR into positive but I would love to see someone who just generally refuses to have good CR with him (not necessary for them to be villainous, just so long as they don't let him get away with being nicey-nice all the time). Also adoptable children (age not important) that he can father figure/dad friend at, please~!

Arwing | Eli Vanto

Character: Eli Vanto
About them: Eli is a character from the new canon Star Wars expanded universe (not to be confused with the pre-Disney EU, now called Legends). He's a math and numbers genius who was formerly enlisted with the Imperial Navy, serving under Thrawn. At Thrawn's behest, he left them to join the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. He comes from a backwater planet out in Wild Space, so he's more or less from Space Alabama (he even speaks with an American southern accent). Eli also has some tactical skills, and is very brave in the face of danger.
Plans: Not really sure what I want to do with him for the event, but it might be interesting if he gets a look at the pre-Disney Star Wars timeline. Other than that, he'll be doing chores and might actually give it a go with the new pottery wheel, since he's been looking for a hobby.
CR wanted: I'm up for pretty much anything, since Eli's pretty easy to get along with.
Things to avoid: Romance is off the table, since he's harboring unspoken feelings for Thrawn.

About them: Catboy Warrior of Light from Final Fantasy 14. Talks like he's from 13-16th century England with accent to match, except when he talks like a medieval pirate instead. Enjoys being an agent of chaos when he can (and it's appropriate) and discovering new things and people.

Also, please take a look at his permissions page if you want to opt in/out of Echo shenanigans.

Plans: In general, just day-to-day train routine: hang out in the game room, watch whatever movies he hasn't consumed, train in the gym, nap in the spa car and make people think he's dead...normal stuff. He's getting a second job crystal this platform, so he'll definitely be practicing Actual Jutsu periodically.

Event Plans: He's going to attempt to go home! And he'll find out that time has kept going while he's been on the train and his friends have suffered noticeably from his absence and will thus be distressed by this. He'll probably end up world-hopping by leaving his world on accident. More details here and here.

CR wanted: Everyone! But especially sparring partners and people who travel a lot to talk about the places they've been.

Plans: I have nothing concrete yet but I do eventually want him to regain his magic sword from the shop when possible. Beyond that, he's going to be struggling to sort through his feelings about Kavinsky and being on the train.
CR wanted: Literally anything. Friends, mentors, found-family, rivals, enemies, etc.
Things to avoid: Ronan at times has some dark themes but I will always warn for them in comment headers. That said I'm good with pretty much anything!
