July Information and CR Meme
We hope everyone had a fun month! Some information for your ongoing journey.
IC Month
This month is the month of Merriment. Days can be found here. It's the game's second-year anniversary! Thank you to all who have stuck with us this far! We hope you are having fun!
The thought of the month is "Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something".
This means: Any thread where you tag into another character's post or top level will earn you two bonus points during July and August.
Threads that fulfil this criteria can be submitted during August AC (next month!). You may find it easier to keep a tracking list of threads for easy compiling of bonus AC.
The ingredient of the month is coconut. Recipes are here. All the ingredients can be found in the storeroom, refreshed at the platform, and characters are welcome to make other food with them.
This month’s chore assignments are:
Blue: Cleaning bedrooms and passenger areas
Purple: Meal Preparation
Red: Laundry
Orange: Cleaning kitchen and bathrooms
The Train
As a reminder, you can list things that characters have added to the train here. Just comment under the header of the carriage to which you are adding.
When passengers return to the train after picking up new arrivals they will find a new carriage.
The lab carriage is a single carriage with the aisle going down the centre.There are six rooms, three of them containing benches and stools but otherwise empty at first. There are a set of two emergency showers/wash rooms, a room with basic tools for machine work and a storage room full of the equipment needed for a variety of scientific endeavours.
There will be no equipment or materials more advanced than what would be found in an average secondary school lab, but outside of that you can assume it has all the basic equipment and tools.

This month’s event will be a mission event running between the 7th and 24th of July. This is going to be our 2nd year anniversary event, and more information will go up about that tomorrow to give plenty of time for plotting to happen!
The TDM will be posted on the 17th. Reserves will open on the 18th. Apps are between the 22nd and the 29th, and AC will run between the 23rd and 30th, just to keep you on your toes.

And now, an animal-related rules clarification:
Going forward, we are redefining live creature purchases from the train shop to make things more consistent. Previous purchases will stand as they are, and we will not be using any purchases from before June 2021/Llama as precedent for future purchases. We won't specify by strict height or weights, as this is creating loopholes for fictional creatures with unreasonable dimensions.
Small (30)
These are small domestic animals, such as mice, rabbits, ferrets, geckos, birds such as parakeets or pigeons, turtles and fish. Some miniature dogs and cats can be purchased here, but they would be handbag pets - munchkins and chihuahuas. The rule of thumb for small animal purchases is that they should be able to live comfortably in a cage or tank.
Medium (100)
These are the more generic domestic pet animals. Cats, small or medium-sized dogs, badgers, foxes, monkeys. Miniature goats and deer, large birds such as eagles or vultures. The rule of thumb for medium animal purchases is that they should be a manageable pet size. An adult human should be able to lift and handle them without difficulty. Animals may be larger in height or length than the examples given, provided they are not bulky and cannot be mounts.
If an animal is capable of evolving or transforming into a larger animal, the catalyst for this transformation will cost the difference between the animal's current and new size category. A creature's adult size is what is considered for purchase categories.
We cannot give specific sizes for Pokemon due to the inconsistencies in source - anime, game etc, so the rules of thumb should be applied in good faith. The important thing is to ensure that you keep the size of your fictional animals consistent in play.
Starter companions, which take up the character's starting item slot, are an exception, and can be any size of creature provided they are not large enough and/or sturdy enough to be a mount.
Summoned creatures are not affected by these rules provided their summoning is for a limited duration.

Avie (Thanatos, Red Team)

About them: From Hades, Red Team, Death Incarnate who is actually a nice guy (but also tsundere and emotionally confused) but is still learning how to be his own person instead of just his job as God of Gentle Death and more. He's been here since the start of Jelly and carries around a plush mouse (Mort) who squeaks
and wants to F I T E. Than can often be found in the quiet car, giving himself a break from feeling ill and overwhelmed by all the sensations he feels on the surface (vs the Underworld). He'll also be found in the greenhouse car, enjoying the green life there.Than's gone through a bit of a character growth(?)/realization, although he's struggling with what it means to him and his world.
He's crushing so hard and in pining hell towards a certain other idiot god but refuses to act.His insecurities over practically everything are in overdrive from the last mission.Plans: I'm attempting to be nice to Than this month because he needs a break. With the mission, we shall see how that goes. He'll probably start working on a few more keepsakes to keep himself busy, but with the mood he's in, he'll probably wait to give them. (He feels like his attempts to help have made things worse lately.)
Mission and mood willing, I plan on Thanatos making a network post asking others about their afterlives, death deities, and life deities. Things aren't good back home, and if people are going to keep pressuring him about things, then he's going to try and find real answers. I'm hoping to push him that way at least.
CR wanted: Open to a lot of CR ideas. He's one of the point people and healers for the Red Team.
Things to avoid: Do not try to restrain him, especially by grabbing his wrists or shoving him into a small space. Thanks, Sisyphus. You took a perfectly good death godling, gave him a month shackled in a box, and now he has trauma and a lot of insecurities.
Than also has a permissions post for characters who have connections to death (though more for potential thread/CR ideas as Than has given up trying to understand this train) and also for Hades game spoilers if that's something you're worried about. He's taken from after the 1st win, all nectar given, favor completed, but no ambrosia.
