Handwaved & Assumed CR Meme July 2021

Hello, Trainlings! Checking back through the comms, it looks like the last time we had a "Handwave/Assume CR" Meme was back in January, so here we are almost in July, bringing the information forward!

New Players and New Characters, this means you, too! We want you in on this meme as it's forward facing for what your characters will do during train-bound downtime!

Handwaved & Assumed CR Meme


Our characters are blessed, or cursed, with confined living spaces, and have all their own schedules and rhythms to dictate their daily lives. So how do they all interact with each other? What do characters with pets or companion animals do? What do those pets or animal companions themselves do?

This meme is a chance to see how characters may recognise each other or their pets/companions in passing, where they may be sharing spaces at similar times, or have met other passengers, allowing the kickstarting of CR without having to play out every first meeting or smaller interaction on train. Who has the time for that? (Not me, I cry emphatically, not me.)

✨ Sleeping habits?
Ryo has a split sleep schedule: he'll go to bed at Sane People Hours, wake up in the middle of the night for an hour or two, and then sleep until morning, when he's an early riser. He can generally be found in the kitchen, dining car, or library during that middle of the night waking hour. He generally keeps his bed made and his bunk neat, and he's a quiet sleeper aside from the occasional nightmare.
✨ Room use habits?
Ryo generally doesn't spend a lot of time in his room; he prefers to be out among people, and if he needs privacy he goes for the quiet car. That said, he keeps his space neat, and it's generally undecorated, aside from a single dried lotus blossom hanging above his bed.
✨ Bathing habits?
He bathes every day, though nothing much beyond the basics. He'd definitely use the spa car more if he weren't worried about bothering people who were already there.
🚆 What are choo up to?
✨ Chore habits?
Ryo does team chores, helps people out if they need help, and can generally be found cooking if food is needed. You need help? He'll help.
✨ Eating habits?
Ryo eats regular meals, generally in the dining car, and will help cook if need be, even if it's not his team chore. Meals are generally social where he's from, and he likes to keep that up here, if people are willing to chat while eating.
✨ Exercise habits?
He walks the train fairly frequently; the transgates are there if he needs to get somewhere in a hurry, but he's used to a lot of walking, so walking it is. He also has a plot in the greenhouse car and tends it daily, along with whatever else needs tending there.
✨ Entertainment habits?
Ryo will occasionally pick up a book in the library, or join someone in the cinema car if they're already watching something, or hang out in the games car watching people play or joining in if he's invited, but he doesn't often seek out entertainment on his own. He feels like he needs to be Useful, and there's always something that needs to be done or someone who needs to be helped. Someone please convince him that he's allowed to be a kid sometimes. Please.

He's open for just about anything, and if he's invited, he'll join in.
🚆 A day in the life of...?
✨ Notable train-bound activities?
Ryo tends to stay out of the way unless otherwise invited. The exception is if someone is visibly injured or unwell, at which point he'll insist on helping them.
✨ Notable physical traits/scents?
Man, not really. Boy is Mild.
✨ Notable non-physical traits?
Ryo is human but also a mage; if anyone can discern, they can tell he has magic, and if they can get really specific, they'll know he's a healer.
✨ Fun train-related character trivia tidbit(s)?
Why is this boy perpetually in the kitchen at 2 am. What the hell.
✨ Free space!
Ryo has something of a sixth sense, so please fill out his permissions post! He also has a Chthonic Companion made for him by Thanatos, so don't be surprised if a stuffed bird offers commentary - Lagos can be Opinionated. Also, Ryo is a teenager who had to grow up young and acts a lot like an adult, to the point where a number of people likely think he is. Someone please get him to relax and let him act like a kid again. Please.
