Hello, Trainlings! Checking back through the comms, it looks like the last time we had a "Handwave/Assume CR" Meme was back in January, so here we are almost in July, bringing the information forward!

New Players and New Characters, this means you, too! We want you in on this meme as it's forward facing for what your characters will do during train-bound downtime!

Handwaved & Assumed CR Meme

Our characters are blessed, or cursed, with confined living spaces, and have all their own schedules and rhythms to dictate their daily lives. So how do they all interact with each other? What do characters with pets or companion animals do? What do those pets or animal companions themselves do?

This meme is a chance to see how characters may recognise each other or their pets/companions in passing, where they may be sharing spaces at similar times, or have met other passengers, allowing the kickstarting of CR without having to play out every first meeting or smaller interaction on train. Who has the time for that? (Not me, I cry emphatically, not me.)

✨ Sleeping habits?
Yondu will sometimes just retreat to his bunk and read. Sometimes he still hits his fin on the bunk above him when he wakes up in the morning.
✨ Room use habits?
He's home up to half of or at least a third of the day unless there's something he needs to work on.
✨ Bathing habits?
Showers every day, doesn't use the sauna because he doesn't actually sweat. Doesn't use cologne.

🚆 What are choo up to?

✨ Chore habits?
He will help with chores, especially if he catches other people doing them. He won't clean bathrooms though. He refuses. He'll do almost anything else, again especially if someone needs the help.
✨ Eating habits?
He can sort of cook. But he can frequently be seen just eating sandwich meat or whatever spare meat is on hand straight out of the fridge. He'll eat fruits and veggies too though. He doesn't actually eat a lot of sweet stuff unless it's offered to him but then he'll tear through it like anything else. Sticky/gooey stuff he kind of has trouble eating because of his sharp teeth.
✨ Exercise habits?
He practices with his arrow in the gym and practices hand to hand on the dummies (I'm open to handwaving that he practices with other people sometimes too). He's been training Madoka in archery.
✨ Entertainment habits?
He listens to music in the music car. He reads. Sometimes he 'socializes' by going and hanging out in an area where there are people milling around but doesn't interact with them.
✨ Media preferences?
See above. His musical preference is largely 'music that reminds him of people he cares about'.

🚆 A day in the life of...?

✨ Notable train-bound activities?
He'll stop and check in on his friends every once in a while. Do some chores if someone needs the help. Practice in the gym to the best of his ability. Otherwise he's bland and boring.
✨ Notable physical traits/scents?
Probably smells earthy and leathery most of the time. He wears his train gear every couple of days or so while he cleans his Ravager clothes. Has his coat on much of the time. Has blackish-purple blood and a few other physically alien quirks.
✨ Notable non-physical traits?
People on his world have nature sensitivities but he's never developed this at all. For people with cybernetic awareness, he's usually putting off some kind of connection between his fin and his arrow but it's definitely stronger when the fin is lit up.
✨ Fun train-related character trivia tidbit(s)?
He whistles frequently (at least he whistles well). He may pick up tunes that he's heard other people play and whistle those. He swears a lot. If something's broken, he'll stop and try to fix it. Sometimes he just wants to sit near people he likes and not necessarily interact with them, just do whatever they're doing and have them as company and be company.

Sometimes his whistles and grunts translate because of the SCA when he's speaking Centaurian thoughtlessly.

...does he need actual food? Because he can get actual food.

If someone offers him food he will take that food. I'm pretty sure Soldat's done it a few times so if Mami does he'll absolutely take it.

Soldat absolutely shoves some of their prepared food at him any time they spot him coming in to munch. Willing to be somebody Yondu spars with sometimes if he wants a sparring partner?

Also Soldat says they can be boring old men together or something, they're not very exciting either XD

Yeah, he'd be down for that.

And god they're not just boring old men they're boring old men that don't know how to properly be people.

See this is why they get along so well, they're both boring, they're both old, they're both not good at being people

That is exactly why they get along. But he likes Soldat to the point that if he went to sleep on him, he wouldn't shove him off like he did when his crew tried that. He's also got safe!cred now but in the emotional sense.

Also tossing in as someone willing to spar with him and also to watch his arrow practise, as a guy with a vested interest in archery himself. He still loves what Yondu can do with this! And likely's chatted with him about it when he spies him practising.

... So about the whistling. Wei Wuxian also has this habit, so he may be unconsciously whistling when he's sharing spaces with Yondu, either in harmony or counterpoint, because it's Not About Necromancy all the time! Probably!

He'd probably really appreciate that 'cause Centaurians whistle to talk, so whistling and having someone whistle with him would be super nice sometimes.

If he's there when he's training Madoka, btw, he's doing Centaurian archery. Which means because she has Yaka tipped arrows now, shooting and aiming involves whistling too. The way he'd describe it is that Centaurians never stop aiming even after the arrow's out, even if they're using the traditional bow.

And whistling is one of the ways Wei Wuxian can control and direct resentful energies/spirits, so the concept would be pretty familiar to him, even if back home he had to invent it for himself, sobs and laughs. He'd thus be curious on any "words" Yondu might want to teach him: whistling and musically inclined things are things he picks up near immediately, and with his native tongue he's also good at picking up intonation differences, most likely!

... Oh he'd love that, though also be like "so hey do you take on adults for training too or is this a young people only thing" /laughs into hands

Wei Wuxian is the guy who, blindfolded, shot five arrows at the same time, hitting bullseye on five targets, simultaneously, he loves extra archery stuff

Oh yeah he would! He'd have to make him some yaka tipped arrows and add a small modification to his bow, but he'd show him how to do it because hooray culture sharing.

They're normal arrow speed and not Mach Point Nightmare like his arrow but they'll veer in the air and you can chase a target with them. He'd definitely compliment Wuxian on his existing aim.

Also if booze is ever available, Wuxians on the 'drinking buddy' list.

I'm guessing we might have bows in the armoury, Wei Wuxian was, ah. Cursed (by me) to only have his flute with him when he arrived, and unlike his spiritual sword (that he cannot use anyway as it drains him too fast) he never had a spiritual bow weapon, so it's always been standard bows! The chasing arrow is enough to keep him curious and interested, and probably coming up with a talisman to do something similar (sobs).

Oh good, when he gets Emperor's Smile he'll have Yondu share with him, because that's good stuff okay, sharing is caring? Sharing is caring!

He got some alien brandy in the last post I did with him. Eventually he should get some more when he has some spare change (he's got stuff I need to mention on the plotting post when it goes up in mind).

Absolutely get this alien drunk thanks.

Consider this done as soon as alcohol homes into his happy, grubby hands. Which are clean. But grabby for the wine.

Sparing and music car buddies?

Totally down! He's always on the look out for new music to show to Peter if he ever sees him again, so he might be asking about stuff to his taste.
