Planning out train shortcuts via transgates

Heya VoidTreckers!

So, Thanatos has in his possession a set of transgates that he would like to set up on the train to help people get to places faster. This would only be active whenever there is no mission going on. He'll be bringing them with him on missions. (Although, if it's popular, I can see Than buying a second set and just donating the set for permanent train.)

OOCly, I'm thinking of sticking one in Coach C: the gym and Luggage.

The gym gate provides quicker access to the front of the train while not getting in the way of medical (Coach D) or kitchen going ons. The luggage is closer to the sleeper cabins, triage, and at the back end of the train.

ICly, Thanatos doesn't know where they should go because he's a teleporting cheater and doesn't have a problem with the length of the train. If you want to thread something out, you can bug Than here, but otherwise, I'm okay with handwaving that someone told him the best locations.

Thoughts? Questions? Want to add gates to the mix? Let's help the poor souls who have to walk the train.


EDIT: So it looks like we have 4 sets of gates for this which is enough for a gate about every 5 cars during non-mission times.

Ryo has also purchased a set of transgates for the sole purpose of donating them to the train/team, so there's a set that can be set up permanently.

Helpfully, I have no idea 8D Maybe two of the more central cars for a shorter jaunt?

I'd recommend changing from Gym to Standard for the first set, though - cuts down on the likelihood of getting whacked in the face by a flying ball.

The gym car has a separate hallway to protect from ball in face!

Also is there even enough room in the Standard car? There are so many chairs...

I believe standard has an open space in the front left where an early library was set up? There may be some other stuff in there now but IIRC there's at least a few rows where the seats were pulled out.

I have to admit I wasn't quite sure what that area was for standard and how the overhead storage cuts into space, but if there's enough space, that's another good option!

The art supplies are put there now but tbh if we say there's some visual cue for when the gate is active, it shouldn't be too troubling?

But also, a funny prompt option regardless.

Conan would push for one to go in the kitchen. Because he has very short legs and the walk from the first coach to a coffee maker gets longer every month.

Edit: Ahaha, and I read that too quickly, and saw that that was already covered.

My first idea was in the kitchen or dinning car... and then I imagined all the potential for dropped dishes and thought maybe not in them directly lol

That I am not 100% sure on. Lightning talks about forming a network, but the control system is a single wearable. So, it might be something for the future if that limitation can be overcome. (Maybe something for the science people to do?)

I see. Hm! That would definitely influence my suggestions. So if anyone else knows if the transgates can be linked together and not just pairs... (or if SCIENCE can save the day!)

If it's A to B only, I would say back of carriage/midpoint carriage and then another gate from Frontmost carriage to midpointish. Or focusing on medical bay/triage emergencies first and working toward 'convenience' later.

If they can be networked, depending on how many are available but say, maybe alternating carriages with the exception of quiet carriage, library, problem points like that. Certainly ones for triage and medical in some fashion would be a priority.

The issue with putting the gate in C is if people are playing. Don't wanna get hit by a ball as you step out...

Niiice, I am down with this plan! If that plan is okay with everyone with the transgates then it would be worth having the mods put onto the settings page around the top for easier visibility.
