IC Month

This month is still the month of Llama. Days can be found here.

The thought of the month is "With every falling apart, there is a coming together".

This means: Any thread with someone your character has never met before in-game will earn you two bonus points during May and June.

Threads that fulfil this criteria can be submitted during June AC (this month!). You may find it easier to keep a tracking list of threads for easy compiling of bonus AC!

The ingredient of the month is nori. Recipes are here. All the ingredients can be found in the storeroom, refreshed at the platform, and characters are welcome to make other food with them.

This month’s chore assignments are:

Red: Cleaning kitchen and bathrooms
Orange: Cleaning bedrooms and passenger areas

The Train

As a reminder, you can list things that characters have added to the train here. Just comment under the header of the carriage you are adding to!

We would also like to give a quick reminder about the two styles of network we have in game. On the train we have the ICPs these can send messages to the whole train or a specific carriage or sleeper cabin. They are video or voice only! For more information on the ICPs please look here

When on missions the character's SCAs work as comm devices, allowing voice chatter and there is always a comm-specific post for that. For more information on the SCAs please look here.

Important Dates

This month’s event will be a train event on the 12th and 13th of June.

The TDM will be posted on the 16th. Reserves will open on the 18th. Apps are between the 22nd and the 29th, and AC will run between the same dates.

Our new players (and old players who want a refresher) might find it useful to read gameplay before the platform. As always the mods are happy to answer any questions you might have.

We're delighted to announce that Ree will be joining the modteam as a mission assistant! This formalises a lot of what she has already been doing the last few months both as an NPC handler and helping with boss battles and other big mission events. It also means there will be a third person available to ask questions about missions and give out further information which should help things run a bit smoother and make sure everyone can be as involved as they wish to be!

Ree also made a shiny premise page too, which can be used to help recruit new players.

About them: Sleeper Lower 2 cabin B, orange team, OC from a fantasy/magic-heavy world! 16-year-old healer who has a weird contradiction of really liking people and also being worried they'll hate him for absolutely no reason. (His world took a perfectly good healer and gave him a tragic backstory and now he has anxiety.) He's gotten a lot better at coming out of his shell, and has a bit more confidence, though he can still be a bit shy and is still trying to find his balance. That said, if he meets someone in pain or needing help, he goes into healer mode and that's all confidence and authority. He knows what he's doing and he wants to help. Basically, he's a little ball of compassion and anxiety. Please be his friend.

Plans: It was a tough mission. He's tired. He's going to try to help people as best he can, but he also really needs people to convince him to calm down and take care of himself. Other than that, someone please introduce him to the wonders of modern technology, including video games. Also, cooking lessons are always welcome!

CR wanted: Adopt him! Be his friend! Let him take care of you! I welcome negative CR; that said, if it starts negative, it might not improve, because Ryo can hold a grudge.

Things to avoid: OOCly, just don't link me pictures of spiders; ICly, nothing!

-Former slave to the Kree Empire turned Space Pirate Biker. Exiled from his group and still upset over it. Raised a Problem Child who was part Space God.

-On the train he's been adopted by a couple of kids and he's made friends, some he's been too stupid to fully recognize as friends and not just acquaintances that are going well so far. He's also still kind of terrified of people hurting him, but he was called family by a couple of people and told he was loved in a friend context which is completely new for him. He's also one of the Blue Team Dads.

-I had been having him have an 'out of his league' crush that was causing some funny awkward moments but I went so hard during the event no more embarrassment for him. He gets to recuperate a little of his pride. Not too much of it, but a little, as a treat.
Plans:
-Mission Trauma: I shoved some of his stuff out in the open, as in a couple of people have actually seen Stakar at this point, they saw what happened to his crew, and a couple of people know he's pretty much given up on life in general. The only current reason he's still trying is that there are some people that depend on him.

-Heist-Planning Brain Activated: He's getting some locks to help teach some hoodlums to improve their lock-picking skills for mission purposes. He knows there's a couple on blue team who listed it in their skills but he'd help anyone learn who has an interest in not being taken captive. After the last mission he's getting worried about the Ministry taking notice and starting to take some precautionary escape planning out of pure paranoia.

-ICP Adventure: He's going to be doing a little experiment with Mono where they try to see where he can reach through the ICPs/if there are parts of the train the ICPs go that they don't know about yet. This is just for the silliness of Mono bringing back random-ass shit ala Baby Groot. If anyone has some non-essentials they're willing to have go missing because Mono decided to present them to Yondu and mildly horrify or surprise him, please let me know. They'll be given back fairly quickly (he'll do a lost and found box in the standard car).

-Nature Stuff: Centaurians in Marvel Comics have a tight connection with nature, and I've been vaguely using it as Yondu being like, "I like these plant-filled places because they remind me of my homeworld that I barely remember." He never learned to explore it being raised the way he was. Someone else with a connection might be able to point out, "Hey, you might have a solid reason".
CR wanted: General stuff, just hit me up, and I want some bawdy scumbag conversations that I can make some terrible jokes with.
Things to avoid: Breaking his fin or arrow are no-goes, no long-term mind control.

Bucky/Soldat | MCU | Purple team

About them: Former brainwashed amnesiac assassin for HYDRA, who died after the split-second decision not to actually kill Steve Rogers and then spent a year and a half in a dead world where they slowly learned how to People again. Soul/life force/whatever is in a lantern that they carry around all the time, which I sometimes forget to mention in narration. They're on Purple team, but always swap for somebody on the kitchen chores so they can cook instead, and often do missions with Red team.

Plans: Soldat spends the majority of their time in the kitchen, working on daily meals and mission prep work, with some time in the evenings in the training car helping people learn basics like how to fall, how to break holds, and how to hit where it hurts the most so their students can run away when necessary. On the last mission and in the aftermath, they basically displayed to most of the train that they've disassociated to the point of alters being able to take over their body, so there's a lot of fallout and explanations going on and/or going to happen there. Plus Steve Rogers just left right after discovering this so there's some definite guilt and fear there that other people might reject them for it, especially considering one of their headmates is a ruthless assassin and another is a very self-focused monster.

CR wanted: People they can adopt and look after, people who can maybe slowly convince them to open up and stop focusing on working so hard to be useful, people to poke at the disassociation/headmates thing. Open to positive and negative there. Trying to mom or dad at them will probably not be easy, but I'm happy to put them into a situation for people to give it a go.

Things to avoid: Personhood, mind control, memory loss, giving orders. ... well, not necessarily avoid? Because I absolutely like poking Soldat's issues, just be aware it will result in freakouts or stonewalling. Also not interested in romance for them at this time.

He now has a very protective Space Pirate worried about him. Unfortunately this Space Pirate is horribly inept at navigating friend emotions even if he really does care. Things that happen when your survival skill was trying really hard to look like you didn't give a fuck when you gave a whole barrel of fucks. But he will be trying to find some way to help.

Roland Crane | Ni No Kuni II | Purple Team

About them: Your Isekai Resident President, looks like a freshly baked twenty-year old on the outside, functions as a fine forty-eight year old wine on the inside. Audits and reads for a hobby, mildly sarcastic, current Purple lead, enjoys writing things down for posterity. Holds a vested interest in the protection of others, doesn't know what it's like to "not work??", tries not to dad things around but he can't help it sometimes. Has a higgledy named Rannygazoo the Resolute that hangs about if you're pure of heart enough to see him. Please don't mess up the hair.

Plans: June's a train event month, so he's up for whatever that'll be. Will probably throw up a catch-all log since the last time he had one was November 2020. Interestingly, last month marked Roland's real-life one year anniversary on the Voidtrecker! He's been around since the Terra mission a couple of worlds back and was involved in heavy metaplot since Nion, so I'm absolutely keen to have him discuss theories, how to get home's, and all that jazz with whoever wants to catch up on what he knows and believes in particular. He'll also be donating some of the books he bought in his attempt to know more about the void in the Library too. And as always, cute, fluffy, SOL are always in high demand!
CR wanted: Any and all, though negative CR is probably going to be a no-no for me, personally. Maybeeee next month? LOL

Things to avoid: For the player, mentions of overt angst, ED's, weight loss, weight dynamics, vomiting. Not in the right mind-space either to tackle any super detailed, explicit suicidal imagery/attempts thereof as well, but if I can get a TW in advance, I won't mind as much and can be spoken to if it's integral to CR :) Other than that, it's all good.

About them: The only child of the king of Hyrule (who isn't allowed to have a name until 2002, but I suppose he's dead and doesn't need one), Zelda's typically princessy childhood was abruptly shattered by the discovery of badly-interpretable prophetic powers, the ambitions of would-be god Ganondorf of the Gerudo, and the murder of almost everyone she knew and loved in a palace coup. Thus began a wild and rather depressing adolescence on the run, while she adopted the identity of an ambiguously gendered ninja from a tribe who worshipped one of her ancestors as a goddess.
And then the rest of Ocarina of Time happened, and she started rewriting reality in an attempt to make a friend happy, an action that has no adverse effects whatsoever.... But no, really, she's a quiet teenager who loves music and history who could always use some friends.
Plans: Well, I think I have a science book I need to finish so Zelda can give her copy back, so it won't surprise anyone that she'll be in the library a lot. Otherwise, the Greenhouse or the Music Coach are always good places to find her.
CR wanted: Anyone who's interested in music or magic would probably be a good fit for Zelda.
Things to avoid: I'm generally fine with most things, including most breaches of the fourth wall. I would appreciate it if anyone who did the latter were to give me a heads up first.

Character: Ghost (Prey 2017 AU) @ Purple
About them: Local passive telepath alien-human hybrid; usually human-passing, but as of the mission anyone who cared to turn into the comms will be aware that that's only human-passing. Generally cagey about his telepathy (perms here, please fill them out!!!!) but otherwise very friendly and relatively open about shit. Mission hit him hard but mostly because the city was sensory overload hell, rather than the illusions themselves being bad. Also important for people new to interacting with him - Ghost is almost entirely nonverbal and 'speaks' with a technopathy-to-speech voice synth on his Better Than Modern smart phone.

Plans: 1. Giant cat. No, seriously, that's his only platform purchase right now (he's still working through his books from last time). I was even lucky enough to find a size ref in the right color. Rory (short for Rorschach) is going to really live up to her "medium animal" status. Ghost is going to be carrying her around for most of the post-platform part of the day and randomly depositing her in the arms of anyone who feels bad (except Mono because let's be real, she weighs more than the lil guy does).

2. Hey if you want to talk about him outing himself as an alien and being spooky all over the end of the mission? Yeah that's maybe a thing your character can talk about with him. It's sure out there in the wild now, not that he was intentionally hiding it so much as just not talking about it unless questioned, but. Yeah.

3. Have you ever wanted to see a picture of your brain? Good news, alien neuroscience nerd can provide! There will be an open network post about this the day of/after platform (I get my covid stab tomorrow morning so we'll see how much my ass gets kicked), but Ghost got a brain imaging laser LAST platform that didn't get put to use yet with the mission and all.

4. Slightly related to 3, but he's been studying psych and specifically trauma and will also be putting himself out for anyone who wants to talk shit out with someone who can, even if he doesn't know what he's doing, at least competently pretend. This may come along with taking over a quiet car room as an 'office' for when he's on-duty. He's not going to try to drag anyone into talking so much as sticking out an offer and seeing who bites, though.

Oh, and he gets a new roommate this month.
Things to avoid: Super-strongly negative CR, otherwise I'm good with whatever. Also, people who will out his passive-telepathing super widely since he mostly keeps that under wraps for his own (perceived) safety.

- a tsundere magical girl who acts all tough but actually has a soft melty center. fights with fire magic and a spear and she also has some illusion magic of her own that she's going to start working on getting better at (see Plans)

- Has a Tragic Backstory (tm) involving many content warnings, including a murdered family (by her own father), hunger issues, and youth homelessness. check her full permissions for more specifics

Plans:
- kyoko is getting ravager gear from yondu in an Official Adoption Ceremony (this is less of a joke than you might expect), and she's gonna be hella proud of it. so she's suddenly gonna have a badass red and black coat and a pin for her ribbon... and have no other clothes to match yet, rip
-- so she should definitely talk to people about getting some less clashing clothes to wear under her new coat until she can buy some new digs herself next month

- so, i think we can all agree that the finale Suckéd. kyoko's closest CR strengthened over the course of it, which will provide her with some stability there, but she's had a lot of old wounds (that never properly healed in the first place) reopened. and she doesn't exactly have the best coping mechanisms in the world, isn't necessarily great when it comes to talking about her feelings...
-- what i'm getting at here is she's going to do the miscreant teenager thing and act out...
-- she likes picking fights, but i want negative CR to be, like, planned, so if you also have a gremlin who's also going to be feisty, hit me up and let's see if we can get something to work

- anyway, on top of misbehaving, she's going to begin to put in the work to get better at her illusion magic. it's an ability she lost access to due to [muffled long story that basically amounts to "trauma"], and one she started to get back by the time of her canon point. BUT she hadn't been using it at all up until last month, when she had a big damn hero moment rescuing yondu. she can make things look like other things, and create ninja copy style illusions of herself. tl;dr those of you who are wanting anti-illusion practice, maybe kyoko can help???

- common cars: dining (just chilling with access to food nearby) ; greenhouse / garden (closest thing to church peace she can get) ; gym (for training) ; games coach (playing pretty much anything) ; but she also just kind of wanders around a lot bc bored teenager. also she can naps literally anywhere, like a damn cat

- i've mostly only focused on close cast CR and like, one other CR so far bc life. But this month, i really want to finally get her out there and meeting more people. gonna try to follow up on some potential and previously discussed CR, but i'm also looking for just fresh stuff, period

- seeking: fellow troublemakers to raise hell with ; sparring slash sass partners ; younger kids for her to big sister at ; she needs to learn that more than just one adult on the train is worth trusting ; anyone seeking a family connection will have to deal with her trust issues tho

About them: High school detective and mystery enthusiast current living in disguise as an elementary school detective and mystery enthusiast. Walking encyclopedia who knows how to do pretty much everything (except sing), but bad at people.
Plans: Conan got injured and was removed back to the train against his will early in the plot. Expect him to make a try at breaking out of medical during new arrivals. He's buying back his fireworks soccer balls this month.
CR wanted: All kinds! Conan needs to get out and talk to more people (because if you left him to his own devices he'd just lock himself in the library car near the mystery section and never leave). Would especially like to get him to talk to more people who still think hes a kid. Because this brat dealing with justifiably concerned adult CR is always hilarious.

About them: Aspiring singer and dancer who signed on the wrong dotted line and instead ended up as the experiment of a rogue governmental group and fused with a captive spirit before escaping. Still adjusting to no longer being human, as well as to the consciousness of the captured spirit, Lucy, who is mostly hanging out in the back of his head. His powers revolve mostly around light (with a side of postcognition, something he could do pre-fusion), and are fueled by light and sound. The postcognition is touch-activated, which occasionally causes him problems. Spent his entire life being able to perceive spirits and ghosts while getting no instruction whatsoever in how to properly deal with them, which also causes him problems. Has a first impressions/permissions post here. Team/Car/Cabin: Orange Team, Sleeper Upper Four, Cabin C.

Plans: Recovering from the last mission, after not being able to do much of anything on it because I failed at getting toplevels up the illusions kept giving him flashbacks and Lucy didn't have the patience for mapping. He also wants to learn more about the train and how things work on it, and would like to learn to avoid a repeat of what he went through this mission, since he hated feeling so useless.

CR wanted: He could definitely use some friends, because he's badly missing his own. Fellow musicians and/or dancers, people who have experience with supernatural entities (or are such entities themselves), people around his age, people who have previous experience with rebuilding after having their lives turned upside down... he's not picky, really. He is also realizing he should probably learn to fight properly, since right now all he's got is lasers and light constructs - which are certainly not nothing, but still.

Things to avoid: ICly, he's still touchy about being identified as a supernatural entity, and he and Lucy would react badly to mind control and/or experimentation. Aside from that, I can't really think of anything.

Plans: She's looking into what the heck happened to Diagad, aka the world the entity from the last mission presumably came from. She bought two books to that effect, and will discuss the info in them on the ICP. On a more personal to her note, she's also starting HRT this month, and will be very happy with that.
CR wanted: Anyone! People she can spar with in the training car, people she can be friends with, people she can talk to about her theories and speculation, people who want to adopt her, etc.
Things to avoid: Not really!

About them: Tyrannical universal Space Emperor, after a couple deaths and a possible third, with CRAU from another panfandom. Generally polite unless his personal space is overinvaded or if he feels he's been insulted in some way. Does not understand the concept of "fun" very well and is generally very focused on his work; his intent here is for research. He has developed enough that he means to make changes to his army, and experience seems the best tool to implement that so far. He does not tend to attack out of hand and will warn if he believes a boundary is being violated. See HMD/Permissions page for resources on his full range of powers and transformations.
Plans: Get him on the train and acquainted with the lifestyle, including new teammates (Purple).
CR wanted: All CR! Come at me! In general, he gets on well with people who he finds intellectually stimulating, but will also take the odd sparring partner, and he will put up with a number of questions (which he's used to -- the ratio between humans and non was...very much what it was). Plans: Build, build, and build! His current project is a VR game of Yugi's design, and he'll be looking for testers at some point. New duelists are also welcome to get deck-building advice and try Duel Monsters as a game. He practically lives in the gaming car, though he's continuing to try to learn combat skills. (He might also need help with Taiki's birthday gift.)
CR wanted: More friends! He seems to connect especially well with children and tech pals. Gaming rivals are also welcome if they want to test their skills.

Things to avoid: Don't hurt Wei Wuxian and you will likely only encounter some of his more passive emotions. Touch a hair on that mans head and you will see what real anger is like.

Character: Xue Yang
About them: resident murder gremlin who has tried really hard to not be as fighty as he once was. Has been on the train over 6 months IC time now.
Plans: He is getting married on June 6th and will probably be pretty quiet during the 'honeymoon' period. But towards the end of the month he is open to more interaction.
CR wanted: Please come to his wedding. He bought a lot of food. People need to eat it and he will attempt to be more social and less stabby.
Things to avoid: He has a violent streak and a bit of an ego. Don't tell him that Xingchen deserves better unless you don't want to keep your tongue.

Plans: She'll be re-appearing just after the event this month, so she'll be readjusting to 'what the hell happened while i was in the control coach'. Hopefully being pleasantly surprised at Red team and having a lil holiday. She's still teaching in Fight Club, too, mostly magic and anti-magic combat and anti-grav, and she'll chase up where people are at with reverse-engineering the Cocoon tech she's introduced.

-more kids to dad, keeping in mind that any parental advice will be 'chaos reigns' and probably not the best but also sometimes wholesome acceptance of who you are. (Example: Crowley is a crau and once taught a bird-girl to fly and talk so while the first part was wholesome the second part resulted in her just talking exactly like him which was horrid.)

Danny's definitely supernatural, but is also highly suspicious of adults offering to help him. So pseudo-negative CR is a possibility, depending on how it goes.

Plans: I'm still playing it by ear. Mostly I want to pick up some of the threads since I missed most of the event last month. At some point it is going to occur to Zel that while he has apparently exhausted his own world's magical capabilities regarding 'return Zelgadis to human', other worlds might have magic his doesn't. (So far, he's not been impressed.)
CR wanted: I'm going to be the annoying one, and say anything. People that Zelgadis is annoyed by. People he won't admit he likes. People who he acknowledges as useful experts, which could also be either category.
Things to avoid: Not sure yet.

Plans: She's trying to learn a little more about machinery and electronics, since that's been something she's been useful for lately. Experiencing what childhood she can.

About them: From Hades, Red Team, Death Incarnate who is actually a nice guy (but also tsundere and emotionally confused) but is still learning how to be his own person instead of just his job as God of Gentle Death and more. He's been here since the start of Jelly and carries around a plush mouse (Mort) who squeaks and wants to F I T E. Than can often be found in the quiet car, giving himself a break from feeling ill and overwhelmed by all the sensations he feels on the surface (vs the Underworld). He'll also be found in the greenhouse car, enjoying the green life there.

Than's gone through a bit of a character growth/realization, although he's struggling with what it means to him and his world. He's crushing so hard and in pining hell towards a certain other idiot god but refuses to act. His insecurities over practically everything are in overdrive from the last mission, but he's trying to push through by keeping busy with whatever work he can find.

Plans: After Lightning's disappearance during the last mission, Thanatos offered himself as a point person for the Red Team. He'll be making an announcement about it after platform for the new Reds and also making it clear that this is not some power play. He doesn't want to get into leadership politics drama, and if there is someone else better qualified please please please take over because he has no disillusions about being Death Incarnate on a team who will punch gods. And his technology knowledge starts from ancient Greece.

CR wanted: More friends, more people who continue to push him to be more himself rather than just Death, people who know of Greek mythologies or whatever, people to talk about Life or saving a world that's really ravaged right now, maybe people he won't get along with, open to a lot of CR things!

Things to avoid: Do not try to restrain him, especially by grabbing his wrists or shoving him into a small space. Thanks, Sisyphus. You took a perfectly good death godling, gave him a month shackled in a box, and now he has trauma and a lot of insecurities. Semi-related, don't burst his bubble about the possibility of returning home to the point in time he left. Let him have hope ;~;

Than also has a permissions post for characters who have connections to death (though more for potential thread/CR ideas as Than has given up trying to understand this train) and also for Hades game spoilers if that's something you're worried about. He's taken from after the 1st win, all nectar given, favor completed, but no ambrosia.

About them: Purple team, sleeper Upper 4D. She's rebel scum taken from about a year before the original trilogy kicks off. She's a talented pilot (not super relevant on a train), a pretty good tactician (actually relevant!) and fiercely protective of anyone she has decided is one of her people. She's Space Mom in a sea of dads on this train. :p

Plans: She wants to hear more personal experience from earlier missions since patterns are starting to emerge and she sure showed up right when that started to become obvious.

She'll also be continuing to adopt half the train because that's how she rolls and I dropped the ball on the mission so she's not horrifically traumatized!

CR wanted: I do want her to have Grownup Friends! But also she does tend to adopt. Worth noting that her parenting style is "If I bring the impulsive kid WITH me to do the dangerous thing I at least can see them. If I tell them not to do the thing they will do the thing where I can't help them if they get in trouble."
