Character: Rui Ninomiya
Canon: Gatchaman Crowds Insight - this was the second season to a reimagining/reboot of Gatchaman where your magical girl transformation looks like something out of a mecha show and Big Brother is always watching...if Big Brother were Rui, anyway.
Cabin and team: Upper 5, Cabin B - Orange ...I may have a type...
Little bit about them: For a real world analogy, Rui essentially created and owns Google. She created a social media platform named GALAX to supplant the current social systems in Japan and essentially crowdsource good deeds and taking care of each other. It's run by an A.I. that she created and maintains named X. The themes around the show involve having way too much technology, surveillance and the good and bad that can come from social media. She's principled and determined and wants to make the world a better place.

A few facts about her include the fact she was born male at birth, did not go to high school, speaks three languages and she has a big sweet tooth. Jelly beans are her favourite. This is how she looks dressed up, in her day to day life, but alas for the moment she'll have to suffer being dressed down. She's not going to be thrilled about that.

Outside of that, her Gatcha form allows her to engage in combat. Her skills in this area surround lightning/electricity and teleportation.

Rui is also barely healed at the moment and coming in with some serious pain thanks to her last encounter, and her note is temporarily scarred.

Hopes and dreams: I am looking forward to everything, of course, which is unoriginal - but true. It should be fun, I hope!

Oh, I def want Bacon to meet Rui, especially since she does AIs. One of Bacon's best friends, Lady Helen, is an AI and their aunt actually creates them. (They've got fourteen 'cousins' that she made in the last decade or so.)

X is definitely Rui's best friend, if not her only friend really so she's very reliant her AI, and has great respect for them.

She's going to be missing X dearly.

Rui doesn't have very many people around her and those that are aren't terribly nice to her, at that, so yeah. Best friend is an AI.

I will freely admit to being completely canonblind, but I'm definitely interested in seeing how Beau and Rui get along, since they'll be semi-forced into close quarters.

I don't know how that's going to go, Rui certainly likes her private time and her private space and is used to a very huge and lovely penthouse apartment with rooftop access...not a tiny train room.

She's quite shy though, so she's more likely not going to say much if someone does something minorly irritating.

Beau's definitely capable of being irritating, and is pretty outspoken, but she's at least likely to honour a request for some space. Everyone needs to take a breath sometimes.

Rui is very shy, unless you find her buttons and then she is very outspoken and principled and her idealism is what gets her in trouble in life.

I look forward to seeing her in game. Otto has a marked distaste for 'CEO minded types', but also hasn't experienced any who actually make their own way scientifically, let alone are actual geniuses like she is, so that is a fun juxtaposition.

They also tend to reach out to people who don't belong or fit in, and since they're both on Team Orange, that might be fun too.

She is a lot less CEO minded than you might think. She's an idealist to the extreme, which is likely to cause more problems than her business savvy. She's more of a bloodless revolutionary kinda gal. Overthrow the system by becoming the system. Season one was trying to make her the antagonist through corruption (unsuccessfully) and season two was a revolt against pretty much everything Rui stood for.

It could be very interesting indeed!

Yess, absolutely, I did not use words good, haha. I saw the series, it's Otto who might initially misfire about what kind of person she is, but only if her original job description came out before any of her actual core-decent personality, so ...maybe they wouldn't. :}

Oh well excellent then! I don't know if she'd lead with her job, or the fact she's a Gatchaman to be honest, she kept it on the down low for so long.

Oh my gosh I love Rui and was so excited to see her app! Phineas here is also Team Orange and a tech genius, though he'd be impressed by Rui's ability to create an actual AI, which I think he's only been able to imitate so far. He's also trans so he'll get her whole gender thing. I'm looking forward to playing off of her!

Team Orange is great, she's my third so apparently I may have a type. And my second techie hacker to boot.

Rui's a lot more confidant when she can express herself, but aside from that, it'd be nice if people weren't dicks about it? (The series does a massive disservice to Rui in this area)

As for Phineas - Senku is also interested in him. He's my other hacker, but he certainly can't pull that AI trick I'm afraid, but he's alright being bested there he's busy speedrunning Civilization IRL.

Orange is a great type to have, as are techie hackers!

Hopefully she'll be able to get some cute outfits and things on the train sooner rather than later... :( I can definitely see how it could make her feel more comfortable. (And I do remember that, yeah. The series was pretty rough on her in general.)

Senku seems pretty awesome, too! I'm always happy to toss Phineas at any and all hackers and techies on the train, so CR with both of them is super welcome. And that description of his canon sounds freaking amazing.

Hopefully she'll be able to the next month after arrival! That's definitely what she'd spend her points on. (Yeah outside of that issue, both seasons are about tearing apart Rui's powers and livelihood and it's insane that her friends turn against her, and those that don't, don't offer support. Canon is not that nice to Rui at all.)

Haha if you're not familiar with Dr. Stone it's a real trip. They also try and resolve their problems without violence. For some reason, you know that nerdy scientist character? Some lovely soul decided to make him the protagonist. XD He flirts with insanity, and lives and breathes all manners of SCIENCE. Stone age to modernity as fast as they can.

That's excellent. :D Also a great excuse to meet our resident spider sooner rather than later! (Yeah, I'll admit, I had to stop watching partway through Insight because the show got so weird about giving her basically no support. So I'm really glad to see someone playing her, she's great!)

I'm not, or rather, I'd vaguely heard of it? But I hadn't heard about that, and the science and civilization-building while avoiding violence makes it sound really fun and interesting!

Oh that does not get better. Gel Sadora gets elected, people vote on everything until they're like 'let someone else handle this' and Rui is like this is a bad idea, this is such a bad idea and no one listens to her and it turns out it was a horrible idea and by the end of it, Rui's just like fuck it, fine, brainwash me no one even listens to me. She breaks out of it, but not with help from her teammates. They concoct a scheme to turn the tide, which she helps with but they leave the fact that everyone turned their backs on Rui unchallenged and unresolved. The dark themes in Insight are really great. The characters...need work.

(There were whispers that the next canon was going to be a movie and Rui was going to be the antagonist but that was scrapped as Inisight didn't do that well)

Yeah, I really like a lot of shounen anime/manga and Dr. Stone is kind of turning the genre on its head a little bit and it's great. The science is accurate too. The amount of research the poor consultant has to do XD
