Test Drive Meme 003
1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!
3. Have much fun!
Happy testing!
What to do on a train.
The problem with trains is you are unable to get off them. Whilst hurtling through an ever changing void that’s probably a good thing all told but it can lead to boredom. Or at least it does if you don’t think creatively enough!
What can you do in a standard coach? Well the obvious, most practical use is a comfy place to sit, in relative solitude as long as no one sits too close. Read a book if you’ve the points to buy one, or write in your journal.
But thinking outside the box a standard coach is also a pretty good climbing course, up and down over the rows of seats, there’s even gaps under the seats if you want to add to the challenge. Or you could just play the floor is lava.
Escorting Dralite
Dralite: Small, bat like creatures. As chicks they are about the size of a beach ball, however it soon becomes apparent that they are predominantly made of wings. Unfurled the creature is tiny with massive wings, spanning a meter long each. It is obvious why they need an escort, they cannot yet fly and their movement is severely hampered by their disproportionate wing size. They will happily cling to any friendly creatures.
Adult dralite are about the size of a sheep with large wings and large claws. They are teritorial but not overtly hostile unless provoked.
Dralite have a screech that will floor most creatures, knocking them down disoriented. As chicks their screech will stun, giving them time to escape from danger.
This world has a sizable colony and a group of humans who preserve and look after the huge dralite nests. However it seems like a group of chicks have gone missing, poachers are suspected, probably planning on selling the chicks off world.
Team One Is to track down the missing dralite. There are clues, footprints, other tracks and rumours of an unauthorised camp of humans in the area. Follow the tracks, check out the camp, see if you can find who took the dralite chicks and where they are being kept.
Team Two Is to rescue the chicks by any means necessary. Be that sneaking in and stealing them back or bursting in to challenge the poachers and put an end to their operation once and for all.
Team Three The remaining chicks still need looked after, especially with many of the volunteers helping hunt down the missing ones. They are needy creatures that cannot mover very far on their own so rely on clinging to other species to get around. You might just find yourself with a new dralite hat or cloak clinging to you, trying to get comfy. They shriek whenever they are afraid or don’t get their way and are likely to wrap their wings around your head if things get too scary. Good luck!
Around the Campfire
Once the chicks are back safe and sound it is time for a celebration. A huge BBQ and campfire is set up for a tasty feast. Just remember to share the meat with your new dralite friends or they will get sad and sulky and that could lead to trouble.
There’s lots of food and afterwards the dralite conservationists will tell stories around the fire, inviting the trekkers to do the same. Wanting to know of the different worlds they have been to, the adventures they’ve been on. Or if real life tale telling is not for you then they will settle for a good ghost story.

Yumeko had contented herself to watch someone else use the coach as a climbing course. She stood against the back - or maybe it was the front? - wall and watched them with a small smile. Physical activity was definitely not her thing by any means, but the person currently doing their own thing in the coach seemed to be having fun and it was rubbing off a little bit on to her.
II. Dralite - Team 2
Well this was something of a pickle. Yumeko doubted that the poachers would simply give up the baby dralite, and sneaking around seemed to be a little bit of a challenge based on what the conservationists told them about the screeching the dralite could do. They were busy discussing what could be done when Yumeko put her hands in her pockets and remembered the deck of cards in her pocket. Her face came alive with the biggest grin and she polite cut in to the conversation.
"Do any of you like to gamble?"
III. The Campfire
Yumeko was a polite eater and, it seemed, someone who did not eat very much. She was engrossed in everyone else's stories and eventually switched to a warm cup of cider after eating. She found herself suddenly a little surprised that everyone was looking at her expectantly and she blushed with a smile.
"Well, I'm from Hyakkaou Private Academy - the students there love to gamble. That's where the idea to distract the poachers came from..."
She explains the school has a social hierarchy based upon how good of a gambler you are, but then falls quiet to let anyone ask questions or let the conversation move on accordingly.
What to do?
Whatever game Kotaro was playing with himself seemed very convoluted but it seemed to involve an undisclosed path around the carriage without touching the floor.
Chairs were good for that until you got to the end. Then it was time to use the wall.
Which he did, hopping up onto the wall and walking across it. Oops avoid the person, that means going higher.
"Do you want to play?"

"Uh, well, I'm not very in shape and... How are you doing that?" Her hands were clasped together in front of her to avoid pointing.

But a lot of the rules are different on this train. "Uhhh... I have sticky feet!"
He grins wider, looking a bit sheepish.
i'm so sorry i thought i responded to this!!
"Oh, sticky feet makes sense!" She contained her giggles. "I wish I had sticky feet too - those would be quite helpful, I would think!" She laced her fingers together in front of her, smiling pleasantly. She meant that she did not have much stamina for a game like this, but she figured she could give it a shot. It was no gamble by any means, but it was something to do. "Okay - I'll give your game a try, but keep in mind I don't have sticky feet! What are the rules?"
no worries!
"So you pretend that the whole floor is lava and is going to burn you then you have to get from one side to the other without touching the floor!"
He grinned, "It's fine if you aren't a... If you don't have sticky feet! You can use the chairs and the tables! Just don't touch the floor!"

"Does anyone actually learn anything there?" seems like the next best way of getting that across.

"Really, it was about the same as any high class elite school~" She didn't really like to talk about the fact that it was a school for people with money, but it definitely was - and the gambling was for stakes with the family checkbook.

"If you think about it, though, the gambling really is important. It is a better measure of status than sports. All of the students are the children of those that are well to do, and they are future leaders." The idea behind this is that extracirriculars are not necessary for those in power, or so it was thought. "Gambling requires you to be strategic, be able to read your opponent, and be able to take victory even when the cards are stacked against you." Literally and figuratively. "So it's not just all fun and games, you know."
no subject
"So you choose games with little to no luck involved?" Luck was no learnable skill, and it could turn around in an instant. "Otherwise, it would be far too inconsistent for the real world." Even then, this was the sort of thing only the spoiled children of those leaders could seem to invent.

The excitement wasn't very long lived, however, as she grew an edge and a shadow cast over her face. "Besides, most games that seem to be random can be rigged, and cheating is part of the game too. The next best thing is catching a cheater in the act and turning the game around so the cheat causes them to lose." Stacking decks, seemingly dangerous games where nobody is in danger, a trick set for a game, hidden players that would try to throw the game. She'd caught it all so far and she'd lain every cheater bare.

It is not a flattering one. Obsessed with dangerous thrills, especially those where mere chance put her fate on the line; and cheating to turn those odds in her favor, or catching others cheating and destroying them. Yumeko is a bit frightening, altogether. "Do you prefer to cheat, or to outplay cheaters by revealing them? Or is it simply a matter of both sides cheating and trying to reveal one-another?"
no subject
"I don't cheat, and I do my best to reveal those who cheat and the tricks they use. Cheating may be part of the game, yes, but I would prefer if people were honest. Stacking the cards against people to get a cheap win is no fun. I enjoy the challenge to win with cards stacked against me, but there are many people who don't catch on to that type of lie." While she entirely loved the risks involved with fighting what should be a losing game, she did not really like people who cheat. She particularly relished winning against cheaters and shaming them by the loss.
no subject
Fortunately, she was the sort to avoid cheating and expose those who did so. ...by her own words. "I imagine you enjoy catching those cheaters too. Isn't it more fun, then, if some people keep cheating?"
