Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

Training Gym

Fight club have finally gotten a gym to train in. Train carriages make strange gyms, long narrow spaces. But this has mats, balance beams, climbing apparatus. Pads and training dummies for punching. It also has large blocks that look a little like what you might find in a children's play centre but can be used to make obstacle courses or provide cover in training exercises.

Set up a course, practice fighting or try and learn how to throw a punch! There are plenty who will help, people who take training super seriously and let's face it, people who want to ambush others from behind oversized foam blocks.

Games

For those for whom fighting is not an idea of fun, or those wanting more relaxation, the games carriage has a whole collection of different games. Board games, card games, dice games. There are many games about trains but they aren't the only type.

There are low tables in the carriage to set a game up on and plenty of beanbags and cushions to sit on. Grab a game, grab a friend or a complete stranger and get playing!

Water Maze

The latest mission has taken the voidtreckers to an underwater maze. They have been given wet suits, helmets and breathing apparatus- lightweight boxes that strap to their back, connect to their helmet and filter air from the water. A powerful and dangerous artifact has been stolen and the race is on to get it back before it is used for ill.

Team One

Plenty of monsters and foes have been sent to try and retrieve the item. Giant crabs, strange eels. Even people with fish tails and the ability to breathe underwater. All are dangerous foes and fighting underwater is difficult.

But team one are the vanguard, keeping the monster levels low to allow team two to push on through the maze.

Team Two

Hopefully team one will deal with the monsters, but the odd one might sneak through. Team two's main job is to solve the maze, because the thief is in the centre in order to perform his ritual.

It's a race against time, the maze is made of coral and walls of seaweed that are impossible to cut through. Solving it requires a quick mind and some determined swimming.

Team Three

For those not wishing to brave the water, or those whose skills lie more in helping others. The island where the artefact was stolen from needs help. The temple was ransacked and some of the islanders were injured. Help them fix their homes, put the temple back to rights, tend to the injured.

Cleaning the temple is a big job, but hopefully by the time the artefact has been retrieved it will be able to be restored to it's rightful place.

[Ardyn sighed, running a hand through his hair as an attempt at finding thd answer rattled around in his head.]

T...two years? I think that’s right, or at least close. It’s summer back home right now, if that helps.

[ That gets a more sincere smile out of her – one part relief, two parts bemused fondness. ]

Well it wouldn't be much of a test if I was asking you easy questions.

[ But she seems placated. ]

But it sounds like we're on the same page. I know it's not much, but it's definitely a relief.

No, I do suppose it an unfortunate necessity.

[SIGH.]

Either way, that’s reassuring enough for me as well. For now, at least.

Mm. For now.

[ Not that she looks... particular reassured. ]

Do you have any ideas why we're here? Obviously we must be needed for something but... when it's not the usual, I'm a bit out of my depth.

[ black humor! we love to see it. ]

I’m still trying to find solid evidence on the reasoning, but nothing I’ve seen of the others and their disposition indicates the usual, thankfully. From the sound of it, we’ve ostensibly been enlisted on this little Void Philanthropy Express for the purpose of aiding those in need of it.

[ IMMEDIATELY: ] Stop doing that with your mouth!

Doing what?

Alright, that time it was actually intentional.

Please promise me you won't be doing that the entire time we're here. I'm on the edge as it is and I don't think my nerves could stand it.

[burninglight]

I’m sorry, I’m sorry.

[He held up scarred hands in genuine apology, despite trying not to laugh.]

It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t at least try to help with the tension. And fail, usually.

[serrata]

You definitely spend too much time with Church.

[ She says it automatically, with the tone of their usual back and forth – and it isn't until the words are out of her mouth that she catches them and her face immediately falls.

Right. Maybe not the best joke to make just now. ]

... Sorry. I just– I didn't think before I said it.

...It’s okay.

[It wasn’t, and he was worried sick.]

The Armiger is dependent on my life, not location; it hasn’t failed when I’ve left home before, and the connection should remain even now. So...he’ll know I’m still alive, at least.

We’ve managed on our own together before. We can do it again for a little while.

[serrata]

The connection...

[ And suddenly, her face lights up with what's unmistakably an idea. ]

If we're still connected with the Armiger, do you think there's any way to pass a message to them? Even if it's just with the Armiger?

[burninglight]

It-...hm.

[Logically, it made perfect sense. Whether logic worked in a place like this was another matter.]

In theory, yes. I don’t know that it would function as a two-way method of communication with how little we can say for sure about the distance between realms, but anything we put in would in such theory be removable by anyone I’ve given the power to. One of them’s bound to find a message even if it just falls out of Leonard’s pockets by mistake.

[serrata]

It's worth a try, at least.

[ And Yuuri's not sure she could forgive herself for not giving it a try. ]

We just have to make sure they know it really is from us... and that it doesn't make them worry even more.

[burninglight]

First half’s easy enough; tie a letter with something orange, say a few things only we would know to say. The latter’s going to be the real trick of it.

[serrata]

You can say that again. ... And I guess, in a situation like this... if we really are missing back home then just about anything we say will probably just make them worry even more.

[ Which isn't nice to imagine... but it's true. ]

We'll have to keep an eye out and see if we get a response, too.

[burninglight]

It'll be alright, Yuuri. Wherever any of you go, so too does the power of kings follow. I'll not allow you to come to harm, whether in person or through the spark which you carry.

[That attempt at reassurance was a little more sincere, at least. Ardyn leaned forward, playfully poking her in the nose with one finger.]

...And besides, the fact that you're with me certainly means I couldn't be safer.

[ Ah, the deadly inescapable Lucian Nose Boop Technique. She's doomed. ]

Oh? Are you sure about that?

If I'm the only one here, that means I have to get up to four times as much trouble to make up for the rest of them.

[burninglight]

[9999 damage]

Oh, but that also means I have to get into an equal amount of trouble myself. One of us simply has to be the adult here, and historically we know that isn't me.

[serrata]

Oh, then I really don't have a choice. If both of us are getting into that much trouble, then we'll end up derailing the whole train.

[ Wouldn't put it past 'em! ]

We'll just have to keep an eye on each other, then. How does that sound?
