Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

Training Gym

Fight club have finally gotten a gym to train in. Train carriages make strange gyms, long narrow spaces. But this has mats, balance beams, climbing apparatus. Pads and training dummies for punching. It also has large blocks that look a little like what you might find in a children's play centre but can be used to make obstacle courses or provide cover in training exercises.

Set up a course, practice fighting or try and learn how to throw a punch! There are plenty who will help, people who take training super seriously and let's face it, people who want to ambush others from behind oversized foam blocks.

Games

For those for whom fighting is not an idea of fun, or those wanting more relaxation, the games carriage has a whole collection of different games. Board games, card games, dice games. There are many games about trains but they aren't the only type.

There are low tables in the carriage to set a game up on and plenty of beanbags and cushions to sit on. Grab a game, grab a friend or a complete stranger and get playing!

Water Maze

The latest mission has taken the voidtreckers to an underwater maze. They have been given wet suits, helmets and breathing apparatus- lightweight boxes that strap to their back, connect to their helmet and filter air from the water. A powerful and dangerous artifact has been stolen and the race is on to get it back before it is used for ill.

Team One

Plenty of monsters and foes have been sent to try and retrieve the item. Giant crabs, strange eels. Even people with fish tails and the ability to breathe underwater. All are dangerous foes and fighting underwater is difficult.

But team one are the vanguard, keeping the monster levels low to allow team two to push on through the maze.

Team Two

Hopefully team one will deal with the monsters, but the odd one might sneak through. Team two's main job is to solve the maze, because the thief is in the centre in order to perform his ritual.

It's a race against time, the maze is made of coral and walls of seaweed that are impossible to cut through. Solving it requires a quick mind and some determined swimming.

Team Three

For those not wishing to brave the water, or those whose skills lie more in helping others. The island where the artefact was stolen from needs help. The temple was ransacked and some of the islanders were injured. Help them fix their homes, put the temple back to rights, tend to the injured.

Cleaning the temple is a big job, but hopefully by the time the artefact has been retrieved it will be able to be restored to it's rightful place.

The Chang sect deserved what they got. Their sins outweigh their lives..a small child that just wanted a little bit of food..beaten and tossed aside twice. Run over by their wagon. If they care so little for a child that did nothing wrong to them..that did what he was told and paid the price for his sincerity..a child they crippled for life.

[His voice rises a little as his anger grows.]

Then why shouldn't I take my revenge? Their lives for my pinkie. In my heart that is a fair trade.

[ the disgusting in xiao xingchen's face deepens, it twists and turns into a moment of sheer disbelief and then he's shaking his head, fists clenched as he struggles not to grab xue yang. ]

All - all for a finger? How can — if you wanted to take revenge you could've taken a finger, even a hand - but a life? Not just one but all of them?

Xue Yang - you really are -[ xiao xingchen does not even know the word to convey the disappointment, the disgust, the anger. ] You really are -

[xue_yang]

[He laughs. Partially because this is now the second time he's had to deal with this conversation. At least this time the man doesn't have a sword. And partially because he is angry at himself that there even had to be a second time.]

Horrible? Disgusting? Cruel? I'm all of these things, Daozhang.

[And he hates himself for it, the conflict inside evident on his face.]

How can their lives even be enough for my finger? I'm also selfish and I want what I can't have. I'm not pure and good like you are. And there is nothing I can do to change any of that now.

[shuanghuas]

[ unlike last time, this time he can see xue yang's face and recognise the flicker of conflict. the minute expressions that are not given away by xue yang's tone of voice.

he still wants to recoil but won't give ground to someone evil. ]

The fact you can even think such things shows how far gone you have strayed from the right path.

I will not let you do as you like in this world.

[xue_yang]

I already do what I like. You can't stop me.

[All he wants to do right now is cut his own throat and end this feeling of the last little bit of light slowly being extinguished in his soul. Except he knows it doesn't matter and he would just be brought back to life.]

The right path presented itself once. It was short and there was light but then that light was extinguished and all reason to stay on that path melted away.

[The smirk on his lips is almost sad as if hiding the actual pain in his heart.]

It just means I am not meant to be in the light and must always stay in the darkness on that other path.

[shuanghuas]

Those are the excuses that keep you from it, whoever said walking the right path was easy? It is not. [ xiao xingchen does not take a step back, not in retreat or with the intention of starting a physical altercation but because he is frustrated and angry at this refusal to understand what he is saying. ]

How easy it is to say 'I am not meant to be' and use that to not fight. Use that same excuse to hurt others, I do not understand you, Xue Yang.

[xue_yang]

And you never will. Because we see the world in two different colors. And now I've seen far more of it then you have. I've seen the horrible side of people where you can only see the good.

No path is easy. But you don't even know half of the things I've done, you don't know how I tried to be better only to have it cut down. You only see what you want to see. The pieces of my past that i can't change.

That is why I hated you..because you couldn't see beyond your own blind beliefs. You looked down your nose at those of us just trying to survive anyway we could. What do you know about suffering? Nothing.

[Which is why he wanted the man to suffer all those years ago...]

[shuanghuas]

[ those words frustrate him even more and really, it is only because xiao xingchen is a Very Refined cultivator that he does not give into the urge to stomp his foot or grab xue yang by the edge of his shirt and shake some sense out of him. but then, apparently, xue yang drags emotions xiao xingchen did not know himself capable of. ]

I am not looking down on you — [ xiao xingchen had never considered himself better or more valuable than those around him. his life held the same weight as any other life. ] My life is not more or less than yours, and you're not taking responsibility for the choices you've made.

Maybe when you were young the world was cruel to you and there was nothing you could do, but that - you are no longer young or defenceless, but your choice is to harm rather than protect.

[xue_yang]

I don't see any point in protecting people who don't deserve it. I'll protect myself and that's it.

[There was a time when he wanted to protect Xingchen. Still would if the other would let him. But their experiences on their world are too different now. Xue Yang is too far gone.]

[shuanghuas]

Deserve? You cannot judge who deserves to be protected and who does not. [ there is the barest hint there now of anger and frustration.

they truly are too different. even without eyes, xiao xingchen thought everyone was worth protecting, and would have saved the man at the side of the road even if he had known it was xue yang at the time. ]

[xue_yang]

[Xue Yang turns away, tired of fighting. A heart that had once been full at being able to see Xingchen again, is now empty with the hopelessness he feels.]

We will never see things the same way.

[shuanghuas]

[ xingchen is none the wiser, he just gives out a huff - childish and frustrated as he watches xue yang turn away.

he can't do anything here but watch and make sure he does not hurt anyone else, but... well. xiao xingchen has never known when to leave things well enough alone. ]

[xue_yang]

[He wishes he knew how to fix this but he doesn't lie. He avoids the truth at times and circles around what needs to be said. But he will not lie to this man and pretending that the world is just black and white and that he regrets the things he did would be just a lie to make Xingchen not hate him.]

I won't bother you anymore.

[He moves towards the door.]

[shuanghuas]

You know I can't leave you alone after what you've just said. [ xiao xingchen speaks, low and laced with anger and frustration. ] If you're not going to protect anyone but yourself, if you have no regrets about hurting others and will do it again.

You know very well I can't leave you alone. I cannot let you hurt others.

[xue_yang]

I'm not going to hurt anyone else. There is no point in doing such things here. No one here has done anything to me. So you don't have to worry about keeping track of me.

[His voice and demeanor has lost some of his usual spark.]

[shuanghuas]

After our conversation, I cannot trust those words. You say there is no point, that no one here has done anything - but what if they do in future? What if someone provokes you? Or you lash out because you feel entitled to?

You have given me nothing to believe you. Only poor justifications for your behaviour. [ and it is clear that it distresses xiao xingchen to have had this conversation, he's angry and frustrated and clearly now alarmed at the lack of spark he sense in xue yang.

a smiling xue yang is one thing, but without that spark - was he not more dangerous?]

[xue_yang]

If that were true, don't you think I would have already attacked you? Have you not also just been provoking me with your words?

[He turns slightly to look back at the other man. Although he would never attack Xingchen now, that doesn't mean what he says isn't true. That of all the people in this place, Xingchen would be the ones most deserving of his lashing out.]

[shuanghuas]

What do you expect anyone to think after you tell them your pinkie is worth more than a life? It is not provocation, it is trying to talk some sense into you. [ xiao xingchen counters, but he won't be drawn into an actual physical fight. ]

[xue_yang]

Past choices are in the past. I'd rather focus on the now. And right now I don't have the desires to kill anyone. Doesn't that count for something?

[That doesn't mean he doesn't have the desire to really punch something or hurt something right now after this conversation.]

[shuanghuas]

[ it is a little ridiculous how expressive young xiao xingchen actually is, xue yang has known him for years and though xingchen schools his face to be as impassive as possible, there are little tells that give him away: the way his eyes go slightly wide, his lips pressed in a fine line, how his fingers twitch.

he is frustrated and still he gives out a huff that could be masking a laugh of utter disbelief at xue yang's words. ]

It's a start, not a good one.

[xue_yang]

What the hell do you want me to do?

[There is fire in his eyes as Xue Yang finally can't hold back any more. He might be shorter but that doesn't matter to him as he goes right up to Xingchen.]

I can't change what I did. And do I regret it? No. I never will. That's just how it is. I can lie and say that I do, but I don't lie. And I would think that lying would be even worse.

[shuanghuas]

[ xiao xingchen's eyes go wide, and though he is the taller of the two he feels himself taking an involuntary step back, frustration mountain.

honestly, to hear someone have no regrets for the innocents they murdered... xiao xingchen is angry at xue yang but he's also angry at himself. ] I want you to do better, I want - I want to save you!

[ without the events of baixue, xiao xingchen still wanted to save the world in its entirely. if he had thought xue yang utterly irredeemable, he would not have allowed judgement to be passed. evil is evil and must be slayed but he had not wanted to slay xue yang then.

he had trusted chifeng-zun to deal an appropriate punishment. ]

[xue_yang]

[Xue Yang takes a step back almost like he has been slapped. Xingchen wants to save him..That pulls on a heart string that almost brings him back to what he felt after Yi City. Xingchen had saved him..all those years prior. He just didn't know it until it was too late.

But the loss broke any last piece of humanity that Xue Yang had left.]

It might be too late for me to be saved.

[shuanghuas]

Then, if you cannot be saved I will stop you from committing evil.

[ black and white, but maybe between the two with their complicated history, it was best to have an answer like this. a simple statement that promised nothing and condemned no one.

to stop xue yang didn't mean killing him, after all. ]

[xue_yang]

How will you do that? Stay by my side at all times?

[There might be a slight twinge of hope in that. That is exactly what they had before after all.]
