Test Drive Meme 012

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Film Night

The newest carriage on the Voidtrecker Express is the long awaited cinema! It hosts many films and TV series. Perfect if passengers wish to waste an afternoon without worrying about being stolen from their worlds and hurtling through the void between worlds.

Dashing adventures, chair gripping horrors or adorable adventures of the Merry Little Voidtrain. There is something for everyone, though with only one screen arguments may be inevitable.

Fight Club

The gym carriage is definitely created more for ball games than sparring but that hasn't stopped the passengers adapting as best they can. There are homemade training dummies and plenty of people who use the space to work out and get ready for the next mission.

But there is also a cupboard full of every ball for almost every ball game there is, the two activities in one space may make for a little chaos.

Spar with people, play football. Create some mix of basketball and mixed martial arts. All training counts, right?

Jungle Heights

The latest mission has taken them to a vast jungle, where people live high in the trees. There has been an influx of tree dwelling creatures with sharp teeth, sharper claws and a love of destruction. To make things better the forest floor is not safe, damp and marshy many creatures lurk there ready to bite at ankles and it is home to a root, the sap of which burns.

Team One

Treetop fighting is an acquired skill and one the voidtreckers are having to learn quickly. Swing on vine ropes and tangle with monsters. Quick movement and quicker thinking is needed to take down the creatures in terrain they are naturals at traversing.

Team Two

People here live on platforms in the trees, with bridges and walkways connecting them. Fend off the creatures and chase them away from peoples homes. At least there is slightly solider ground beneath their feet, but they must be careful not to fall to the jungle floor beneath.

Team Three

Many of the people here are not fighters and they need help to get somewhere safer. It's a tough journey through the forest, especially when they leave the bridges and platforms of the village behind. Children may need carried and climbing from one tree to another is difficult even with sturdy branches to walk along.

They must be careful to stay in the trees, avoid getting too close to the forest floor but do not get too high, lest they attract the creatures.
sunbloom: (I'd like that.)

Well, we can certainly help with that! There's a lot to be done still, but between us we can probably fill the garden, don't you think? I'll probably have to ask you for tips along the way, though.

[Itsuki frowns at the reminder of the foreign plants.] There isn't much in the ICP about all the things we don't know... I wonder if we'll have to write that information ourselves.

That just sounds more enjoyable, I think.

[She smiles wider.]

We can write about what we learn, and share it with everyone else. We'll be just like real botanists, don't you think?
sunbloom: (Of course!)

[personal profile] sunbloom 2020-05-20 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Real botanists, instead of magic heart botanists? [She's teasing, mostly; there's a lot to be said for the work Tsubomi does with her grandmother (and her clubs, and at home, and...), but Itsuki learned a surprising amount about flower language from restoring Heart Flowers for a year.] But yes, we'll keep notes and see about adding them to the information here. If we ever get a chance we should see about taking samples back to Kibougahana, but that might be a bit.

That's a thought, yes! Though we have to make sure we don't bring something dangerous back home! We need more data on how they interact with other plants...

[Tsubomi is imagining her grandmother's greenhouse in a state of decay because something she did made the other plants sick...]
sunbloom: ([+T] I'm not sure...)

[personal profile] sunbloom 2020-05-25 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I get the sense we'll have plenty of time to investigate interactions between everything. There probably won't be too much competition to use this space, and besides that we should have some time to ourselves. So we can take our time and make sure we have all the data we need.
bloomingblossom: (002)

[personal profile] bloomingblossom 2020-05-25 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tsubomi nodded.]

You're probably right. And anything that we're not sure on, we can just leave on the train.

Of course, we have to think of the train too... so we need to be cautious when we're visiting a world, I think. Those are going to be the times we aren't able to take our time, after all.
sunbloom: (I'm okay with that.)

[personal profile] sunbloom 2020-05-26 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I expect we'll be too busy to have someone watching the garden car while we're off adventuring... Maybe we can find a way to set up- not irrigation, but just something to water specific plants while we're gone? If something goes horribly wrong in that amount of time, it probably wouldn't be suitable to bring back to Kibougahana anyway.
bloomingblossom: (007)

[personal profile] bloomingblossom 2020-05-26 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
You mean something like an automated sprinkler system? That'd probably be a good idea to install anyway. But we'd need to use the shop for it, I think...

[Tsubomi's brow furrows. She's thinking about multiple logistics right now.]
sunbloom: ([+T] It still seems... off somehow...)

[personal profile] sunbloom 2020-05-26 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe not that complex. Just something that could hold water and release it over time. I've seen them in shops, I just don't remember what they're called.

...although I certainly wouldn't object to a sprinkler system, but we'd have to rig up water. I don't think we could just make the stream feed that.
bloomingblossom: (002)

[personal profile] bloomingblossom 2020-05-26 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well, either way, we're going to have to put a lot of effort into it. If we want to make this anywhere near as good as the botanical gardens, there's no doing this halfway...

[Rather than pessimistic, her tone is determined. She wants to do this right.]
sunbloom: (Good.)

[personal profile] sunbloom 2020-05-26 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Your grandmother also had a lot of time and money to invest into it. We have... some of one of those things. Keep it simple, and we'll work our way up.

And we should probably focus on the short-term. If we can't get anything to grow, there's no point working on sprinklers, right?
bloomingblossom: (009)

[personal profile] bloomingblossom 2020-05-26 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. I'm just saying, even a simple garden requires a lot of effort, and a lot of love!

[She reaches out and takes Itsuki's hand.]

But I'm sure we can do it, together!
sunbloom: (All right!)

[personal profile] sunbloom 2020-05-26 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I don't doubt that. We have a lot of work ahead of us yet, and we can't really automate or simplify most of it. So-

[Then Tsubomi takes her hand, and Itsuki grins back at her.]

-yeah. Together. We can definitely do it!
