Film Night

The newest carriage on the Voidtrecker Express is the long awaited cinema! It hosts many films and TV series. Perfect if passengers wish to waste an afternoon without worrying about being stolen from their worlds and hurtling through the void between worlds.

Dashing adventures, chair gripping horrors or adorable adventures of the Merry Little Voidtrain. There is something for everyone, though with only one screen arguments may be inevitable.

Fight Club

The gym carriage is definitely created more for ball games than sparring but that hasn't stopped the passengers adapting as best they can. There are homemade training dummies and plenty of people who use the space to work out and get ready for the next mission.

But there is also a cupboard full of every ball for almost every ball game there is, the two activities in one space may make for a little chaos.

Spar with people, play football. Create some mix of basketball and mixed martial arts. All training counts, right?

Jungle Heights

The latest mission has taken them to a vast jungle, where people live high in the trees. There has been an influx of tree dwelling creatures with sharp teeth, sharper claws and a love of destruction. To make things better the forest floor is not safe, damp and marshy many creatures lurk there ready to bite at ankles and it is home to a root, the sap of which burns.

Team One

Treetop fighting is an acquired skill and one the voidtreckers are having to learn quickly. Swing on vine ropes and tangle with monsters. Quick movement and quicker thinking is needed to take down the creatures in terrain they are naturals at traversing.

Team Two

People here live on platforms in the trees, with bridges and walkways connecting them. Fend off the creatures and chase them away from peoples homes. At least there is slightly solider ground beneath their feet, but they must be careful not to fall to the jungle floor beneath.

Team Three

Many of the people here are not fighters and they need help to get somewhere safer. It's a tough journey through the forest, especially when they leave the bridges and platforms of the village behind. Children may need carried and climbing from one tree to another is difficult even with sturdy branches to walk along.

They must be careful to stay in the trees, avoid getting too close to the forest floor but do not get too high, lest they attract the creatures.

"I make things, mostly." Some of the other people he's met can do much the same, although they have limitations he doesn't. The train Nico has now is, of course, a mildly impossible object. The sort of thing that doesn't exist outside of dreams. "Can't make large objects here, though. Too far from ley lines for that."

Ley lines are, at least in Ronan's experience, something that anyone knows about. Gansey - before Gansey also became a forest and not a person - was as normal as a person could be while still being heavily obsessed with dead Welsh kings and he knew more about ley lines than the people Ronan knew who actually used them. Same with Gansey's weird professor friend.

Forests made of power, of energy, though? That's information to keep to yourself. Only the Greywaren would have need of such a place anyway - or another dreamer, and Ronan was pretty sure there wasn't another one of those on the train.

"Trinkets like that are easier for me here."

Nico's face scrunched up in confusion. He'd heard of ley lines, but he didn't know enough about them to understand them or anything. "What're ley lines?" He looked up from the train again, setting it down next to his empty bowl of popcorn.

"And so you can make bigger things? Like, how big?" He wasn't sure how big to imagine. Things the size of a toaster? A car?

"Magic collects in places, kind of like rivers. We call those ley lines." Adam or even Blue could probably explain the concept better. Ronan's not a scholar. He's literally a high school drop-out who never went to any class but Latin. "So when I have access to one, I can make anything I want."

He has, in fact, make dozens of cars. Some of them worked as intended. Some were missing fuel tanks but ran anyway. One was a beautiful, perfect copy of the car Ronan totaled. It's weird to think that copying things was the most impressive think to him not that long ago. Now, making perfect copies is the bottom rung of his abilities.

"Oh." That was different than what he'd been thinking of, so he hadn't known anything about ley lines after all. He wondered what made magic collect in certain places, and if that was happening back home, if there was more than he knew about. Considering the things he did know about, what he and Blaine could do...there was always a possibility.

"I bet you could do just about anything, with that kind of power." Like...things he probably couldn't even begin to imagine. He'd probably just make things for cats and dogs, personally, because he was a sap for animals. "Is it weird, being here and more limited?"

"Yeah. It's harder for me to make things stay the right shape." Hence the impossibility of the train. Ronan was aiming for something more real but without enough power, things mostly take the shape they want. "I'll get used to it."

He's tempted to dream something to help, but that feels like a bad idea when he only has Chainsaw with him and not Opal too. The rules are maybe a little different here, and he doesn't want to know how different without something to ground him.

"There's a lot to get used to here," he said, nodding. He wasn't homesick, exactly, but there was a lot he'd left behind, and he wondered what was happening there, if anyone was missing him. Being stuck on a train wasn't so bad, compared to other possibilities.

"I miss my cat." He sighed. He didn't know if Kiki would have even been happy on the train, but that didn't stop him from missing her. "Well, and a lot of things."

"You cat didn't come with you?" Ronan sounds genuinely confused about that. Chainsaw is . . . somewhere. He doesn't know where his raven is, but she's around. "My raven came with me."

Granted, Chainsaw is not technically a real object. Chainsaw is a dreamthing and a psychopomp. He doesn't actually know what the rules are for actual animals. Maybe real animals can't come onto the train. He's gotten used to the train itself, but the rules of the train are still mysterious to him.

He started to shake his head, but stopped short. "You have a raven? That's some druid of the forest kind of stuff." Cool. He meant it was cool. He'd seen some 'exotic' pets in his time at work, but nobody'd ever had a raven. "I did get a...personal item from home, though. Would've rather had my cat. Kiki's a delight."

[aluciner]

"Yeah. A raven for a Raven Boy." Ronan laughs - there's clearly some sort of joke in that statement but he doesn't bother explaining it. "She's the only thing I have from home, though, so everyone must get something. Wonder if the train chooses."

"Huh?" If there was something funny, Nico'd like to know what it was. Otherwise he was just a little...lost. "The train must choose because I'm not sure I would've picked what I got." Which was a weird thought in itself, attributing things to a train.
