Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

Luggage Handling

The last carriage of the train is full of luggage. It’s all empty but there sure is a lot of it. Suitcases, old fashioned travelling trunks, rucksacks. And they are scattered everywhere, a safety concern to be sure.

Or perhaps the most fun place on the train, if you are thinking about it right. These cases could be anything, a fort, a bunker. How many can you stack up until they are too high to reach or they tumble down on top of you?

Let out your inner child and relieve some of the boredom of being stuck on a train by creating the luggage castle of your dreams, or step in before disaster strikes and attempt to bring some organisation to this chaos.

Scavenger Hunt

You’ve found yourself on a world that seems to be one huge scrap yard. At least all the parts you can see are and you aren’t the only ones there. A small fighter craft has crash landed here and the pilot needs help fixing their craft to get out of here!

Team One The parts needed must be around here somewhere! This place has all sorts and so it’s just a matter of trying to sort through all the junk to find what you are looking for.

Team Two Some parts from the actual ship are salvageable but it’s going to take a team to get this thing sky worthy again. Fix what can be fixed and get the craft ready for the spare parts that will hopefully be found.

Team Three This planet is not without its nuisances. Most prominent are some strange cyborg rats that have a taste for wiring. Fend them off before they get into the craft and render all the hard work undone.

A picnic with a view

Heroes deserve rewards every now and again and after a few days of protecting a settlement from strange shape shifting alien blobs there is a moment to relax before boarding the train once more.

What a place to relax in. High up on a cliff overlooking a vast plain of crystal stalagmites. The light of two suns reflects of them creating a dazzling prism mirror effect of colour, it’s almost like hovering above a sea of rainbows.

A picnic has been provided by some grateful villagers, the food is strange but delicious and a perfect way to unwind after a stressful few days.

"I did think. I thought that if I went to the Halls of Mandos, I'd NEVER be let out again. I wasn't even sure I'd be allowed to be with my kin."

"I know Namo and Morgoth share the same favourite color but they aren't that alike." He snorts. "Did Luthien walk in and find herself penned in? And don't you start that she was half-maia. She was half-elf, too, and bound to our rules as well as theirs. More even! We're fenced out of Valinor, you idiot, not from each other. Kinda hard for 'all who ye have wronged' to pity you if they aren't there to do it."

"I should hope Námo and Morgoth aren't alike, but I feared that I'd be cast into some dark cell and never allowed even the comfort of my family. I'm not exactly innocent, you know, and Námo did threaten us when we were leaving Aman. And the rumor is that those who have done great evil are never returned to life. What do the Valar care, even if I repented? And you know me, I bristle like a dog when somebody other than my brothers tells me I have to do something. I'm not exactly meek and biddable."

"He's not cruel." Caranthir says. "Just really really boring. And I don't expect to return to life - what, do you honestly think anyone in safe Valinor would let us come back? Other than Uncle Arafinwe. But you worried us, idiot."

"I couldn't bear the thought of not returning to life. After I refused the summons, I spent some time in contemplation, and then I started to work on re-embodying myself without the help of the Valar. I was having some success, too. And that's because I'm sure you're right, the Valar would never let us come back to Valinor, and even if they did, we wouldn't exactly be welcome!"

But he looks affectionately upon his brother. "I really am sorry I worried you. I was trying to work out a way to get a message to you without getting caught, but I hadn't yet figured out how."

"As long as you don't get into trouble." Caranthir says severely, and cuffs him again, lightly.

Oh those grumpy kitty cuffs! snicker

"Oh well, you know I'm smart enough not to get caught. I had an idea that I would sneak over via the Path of Dreams and give a message to Irmo to give to you. I don't think he'd give me away. I made wonderful dreams for him after I started to work on my music, and I feel almost as though he and I are friends."

DON'T MAKE HIM BITE YOU!!!

Caranthir gives him the most dubious of dubious looks.

"Right. Sure. You realise they are brothers, right?"

NO BITING, NO BITING! HAAAAAALP!

And oooh, that dubious look! Nobody can look dubious like Caranthir.

"Of course, the Fëanturi, the Masters of Spirits. Irmo is Námo's brother. But Irmo is a bit on the secretive side, and he loves the dreamers, especially the artists and musicians. I was guessing that if he mentioned the matter to Námo at all, he'd mention it after the fact. And then it would be too late for Námo to catch me, because I'd be gone like a streak of lightening."

He laughs a little.

"But I didn't get the chance to try it, so who knows?"

CHEW CHEW CHEW

He sighs the deeply put upon sigh of older brothers with idiots for younger brothers (tm)

"Just. Don't get into more trouble, damnit Curvo."

OUCH OUCH OUCH!

Like Curvo was telling Maglor, it's in the Younger Brothers Contract!

"Heh, I'm not in Arda now. I don't think I can get into trouble in Arda while I'm in. . . whatever the hell universe the VoidTrecker Express is in."

Caranthir spits upon this contract, his is far superior.

"You say that, and yet I have doubts...."

Oh right, Moryo has the Older Brother's Contract!

"I know you have doubts. You've always worried about me, and always done your best to keep me out of trouble. You're a brick, Moryo!"

Moryo wrote his own contracts. They're much more comprehensive.

"I'm your brother." He grumbles.

Of course! Being the closest thing to a legal mind, of all the brothers, naturally Moryo would think of writing his own contract.

"I know, my dear Moryo. You are a wonderful brother, and don't think I don't know that!"

He flings an arm around him and gives him a hug.

Ugh hugs.

He tolerates it for a while, even hugs back briefly, and then shoves him off.

"Enough of that."

Poor Caranthir. Afflicted with brothers who adore him.

"Okay, enough of that. Now what?"

He doesn't mind the adoring, more the ew touchy feely ew

"Well, what's there to do here?"

Moryo, you're surrounded by a whole touchy feely family. How ever do you survive???

"Pick up scrap items that look as though they may be useful and stow them on the train. We're TEAM ONE, after all. We're unbeatable. None shall take or keep a piece of scrap from us, or we will pursue them to the ends of the earth!"

He bites or punches people when they hug him, obviously!

He snorts and cuffs him. "Poor taste."

Naughty grumpy kitty!

Ouch again! "I never claimed to have a perfectly tasteful sense of humor, now did I?" He's still grinning.

If you stopped hugging him he wouldn't need to bite.

"That much is very much true." He rolls his eyes.

Not a chance!

"What is the point of humor if one always has to be tasteful?"

"Not getting your brothers to take you to task?" He says wryly. Not that Curufin is the sort to care, he supposes.

"Heh, I see your point. But you're really the only brother who does."

Curufin does care; he just can't help himself sometimes.
