Test Drive Meme 002

Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

3. Have much fun!

Happy testing!

Luggage Handling

The last carriage of the train is full of luggage. It’s all empty but there sure is a lot of it. Suitcases, old fashioned travelling trunks, rucksacks. And they are scattered everywhere, a safety concern to be sure.

Or perhaps the most fun place on the train, if you are thinking about it right. These cases could be anything, a fort, a bunker. How many can you stack up until they are too high to reach or they tumble down on top of you?

Let out your inner child and relieve some of the boredom of being stuck on a train by creating the luggage castle of your dreams, or step in before disaster strikes and attempt to bring some organisation to this chaos.

Scavenger Hunt

You’ve found yourself on a world that seems to be one huge scrap yard. At least all the parts you can see are and you aren’t the only ones there. A small fighter craft has crash landed here and the pilot needs help fixing their craft to get out of here!

Team One The parts needed must be around here somewhere! This place has all sorts and so it’s just a matter of trying to sort through all the junk to find what you are looking for.

Team Two Some parts from the actual ship are salvageable but it’s going to take a team to get this thing sky worthy again. Fix what can be fixed and get the craft ready for the spare parts that will hopefully be found.

Team Three This planet is not without its nuisances. Most prominent are some strange cyborg rats that have a taste for wiring. Fend them off before they get into the craft and render all the hard work undone.

A picnic with a view

Heroes deserve rewards every now and again and after a few days of protecting a settlement from strange shape shifting alien blobs there is a moment to relax before boarding the train once more.

What a place to relax in. High up on a cliff overlooking a vast plain of crystal stalagmites. The light of two suns reflects of them creating a dazzling prism mirror effect of colour, it’s almost like hovering above a sea of rainbows.

A picnic has been provided by some grateful villagers, the food is strange but delicious and a perfect way to unwind after a stressful few days.

He knows Tony, and he knows that Tony had been doing better away from the hero game, even if he'd obviously never stopped tinkering and thinking about it. Bruce wants them both home - wants them all home.

If home's still there.

"That makes sense. I know you're right." The hatbox gives a creaking protest as his hand closes into a fist around it. "My compartmentalization skills are kind of rusty."

"Of course I'm right. I'm always right. You should know this by now."

His gaze moved from the giant man's face to where his hand was about to break the hatbox. "Drinking helps." However, his gaze became more serious as his eyes returned to Bruce's face. "So long as Peter's okay and doesn't find out what happens between my time and his."

The hat box is not long for this or any other world; it crumples in Bruce’s hand with a creaking complaint before it gives up the ghost and prepares for a new life as kindling.

Brushing aside the familiar braggadocio is easy, but there’s a more serious message here than that Tony’s returned to a familiar crutch. “What does he know?”

What shouldn’t Bruce tell him?

Well now what are you going to put in that spot there on the left? He obviously doesn't say this out loud. There were times he knew he could get away with harassing Bruce but this didn't seem one of those. The Hulk was agitated, after all.

"Nothing. I haven't told him anything about the future- his future or the rest of the planet's. It didn't seem right. What's the point of telling him something that awful when there's nothing he can do to change it? Hell, he might not be from my exact universe. He could be from one we succeed and then what was the point in telling him? I'm just.. I'm treating him better than had before I lost him since I know I won't get another chance."

They’re playing Jenga now, not Tetris, anyway.

Agitated is as good a word as any. There are more advantages than disadvantages to the Hulk/Banner smoothie he made, but there are still some occasional Hulky chunks left in the blender.

“Then what are you telling him? Does he still think it’s the same year as when....” When they lost, not everything, but an arguably more devastating half of everything.

"We.. haven't talked about it. He hasn't asked." That wasn't entirely true. There had been a few times he could've said something- anything about their differences in time, but he just hadn't been able to. Bruce didn't need to know about how much he's struggled here.

"Oh! But.. I did tell him Thor gets fat," Tony claps with a laugh. The moment was over and he was back to pretending everything with him was fine. "Did you know the little kid has a crush on the fellow? Very amusing. You should've seen his face when he let it slip. I should go and get us some glasses for the ale." He steps towards the door, ready to run from this topic that was too much for him to handle.

Bruce still isn't that kind of doctor, which means he's going to let Tony change the subject, even if he frowns at making Thor the butt of the joke. Then again, he'd been there to witness Thor losing his entire world, and Tony hadn't.

He looks down at the debris in his hand and tosses it in a corner. "You want to bring glasses or should I just bring a barrel?"

"It'll only take a second! I keep spare ones in my room." He leaves for a few minutes, just long enough to shake that old conversation off him like unwanted snow on a coat. Bruce could probably drink straight from the barrel, but Tony couldn't or didn't want to. He comes back with two old fashioned tankards- another item he 'borrowed' from one of the worlds they'd traveled to.

"Bottom's up! This is going to make jenga fun. Well.. besides beating you. You won't Hulk out on me if I win, will you?"

Much like Tony, Bruce uses the time to collect himself. He pokes around for a trunk sturdy enough to take his weight for a chair, which at leaves him the illusion of doing something instead of just standing around not punching the walls.

"You'd like it if I Hulked out on you, don't lie," he says as he sets a barrel in front of his makeshift chair. "It'd be the most interesting thing to happen to you all day."

He takes the tankard and eyes it dubiously, but it's not like he has a better scaled option at the moment.

[personal profile] runs_on_batteries 2019-08-10 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony's grin turns mischievous at that. "You know me too well." There were quite a few things he'd like to do with Bruce now that someone really interesting was finally on board. Only half were suitable to mention in the company of others.

He fills his cup and then looks at his friend staring at his glass like it was a tiny tea cup. "Sorry, I'll make you a bigger cup. You can either use that or just pick up the barrel, doesn't matter to me."

Good thing they're alone in here.

"I'll stick with the little cup. I could drink the whole barrel and it wouldn't do much unless Asgardians brewed it." Or if it was Sakaaran liquor or probably a bunch of other stuff, all of which would lay Tony out on his ass if he tried to drink it.

"I'm just trying to be sociable."

[personal profile] runs_on_batteries 2019-08-12 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Tony shrugs with a nod. "I'd kill for some Asgardian alcohol about now." Or any alcohol other than this ale. It was too filling with how thick and rich it was. Not the best kind for him to drink copious quantities of without consequences on the bathroom scale (figure of speech since they didn't have one here).

"And you're succeeding, my friend." He looks down at his cup for a moment before adding, "I've missed having someone around who just.. gets it."
