Knight Quest

Upstairs in the games carriage there is a VR game set. There are enough headsets and controllers for four people to play. One of the games is Knight Quest!

A game that can either be played on single adventure mode or with the other three headsets in a campaign mode. It is a typical fantasy rpg about a young hero who is searching for a magical item to save the world. The story is simple but fun and engaging. The hero has a sword and shield and fighting in this game requires some physical skill, but practice makes perfect!

Games are a good way of gaining skills so team up and save the world, fighting monsters and practising fighting in a safe controlled environment! Just… Don’t bash into each other.

Making your own Fun

The standard coach doesn’t have all that much in it. Just rows of seats, though at the front of the carriage seats have been ripped up and bookshelves installed.

It’s a good place to read or write in their journals. Or annoy other passengers by climbing from one side of the carriage to the other without touching the floor.

Rehabilitation

The train has arrived at a collection of planets. That is good because your task is finding a place for the lindusi (large lizard creatures, recently rescued from a dying planet) to be settled and the more choices the better.

Team One

The first job is predominantly scouting. The scientists in charge of the lindusi relocation project have given the team a list of important features for a planet to have.

It’s like a scavenger hunt but for running water, certain types of plants, prey animals and other features. They have lent the void treckers some basic scientific equipment for testing the environment.

Team Two

Not all of these planets are going to be empty of hostile creatures. The second teams task is to accompany the first team and keep them safe. They have been given shielding devices, easy to use energy shields large enough to fit two people behind. They are handheld and a quick press of a button will activate the shield.

There are plenty of predators, from bears to strange flying aliens that want to eat you. Good luck!

Team Three

Once a suitable planet has been found the third team are to get the lindusi there. In shuttle ships. They aren’t too difficult to pilot, which is good because the lindusi relocation program is very short staffed.

Once they are safely landed it is a case of releasing them into the wild, in safe locations away from any immediate danger. The lindusi are still recovering from their trip through space after all.

"You'll have to tell me what that's like someday. Flying. I've never been," Evie replies easily, turning the page for Tobias. She already figured out he's been through a lot, so the bitter chuckle doesn't phase her much. If anything, it worries her. He reminded her a lot of some of the people on the Isle, and that worries her the most for her new friend.

It was tough shaking that mentality, but Evie was going to do her best to help.

That's going to be a difficult thing to share -- not because Tobias wants to hoard it, but because his experience as a human wasn't exactly filled with wonderful things, and there's nothing as great as flying. Except... <They have cinnamon rolls where you come from?>

"We do," Evie replies, tilting her head some in curiosity. A bit of her hair falls over her shoulder, covering some of the words on the page they were reading and she moves that a second later. They were still reading, right?

He was certainly pretending to read, but Evie was more interesting than the book. <Flying is like if you haven't tasted anything in a year, and then someone gives you a cinnamon bun,> which is an absolutely religious experience, and not one he's inclined to have in public. He knows what it looks and sounds like.

That...well, that gets a laugh out of Evie. The description is both ridiculous and flawless all at once and Evie finds joy in that. She's grinning from ear to ear, looking at Tobias and still giving him her best and most charming smile.

She was enjoying talking to him, that much was clear.

"That sounds pretty amazing. That's probably the best description of anything that I've ever heard."

For a second, he thinks she's laughing at him, but he quickly realizes that she probably doesn't know much about hawk biology. He hadn't, before he'd become stuck. He shifts his weight between his legs, debating with himself about whether or not telling her would make her sad -- and he doesn't want to make her sad, but...

<I guess it's not easy to imagine, but hawks don't have taste buds. So when I turn human, everything is kind of overwhelming. Taste is the part that's really, really good. It's my favorite part about going human,> and there wasn't a whole lot he liked about being human, even though the train was obviously designed for them and his life would be a lot easier if he was one, right now.

That was sad. Her smile definitely fades some at that news, filing that information away for now with the smallest of frowns on her face. She couldn't imagine not being able to taste anything, not with one of her hobbies.

But then she kind of latches onto that and her smile returns some, a bit more subdued than before.

"Well, if you decide to go human for an hour or two, let me know. I love to cook. I'll happily make you something to eat."

<Eating in other forms doesn't really do anything. It doesn't carry over back to this body, I mean. But I'll give whatever you make a taste test,> he offers. The bonus is even if it's absolutely terrible, the experience of tasting is something he never gets tired of.

He doesn't tell her two hours is all he gets -- it's usually plenty long enough, though it's going to become a bit more of an issue when the first mission rolls around. There are a lot of limitations that are going to be a problem on this train, but he's worked around them before and he'll do it again.

<But you have to promise not to laugh too much,> though if it was only her laughing, he probably wouldn't mind. She doesn't seem like the kind of person to laugh at people, and it just makes him like her more.

It's not going to be terrible. She's been cooking since she was a toddler. Cooking is one of her many joys and hobbies. It'll be amazing.

"I promise I won't laugh," Evie says. She's not the type to laugh at people, even if they're laughing at themselves.

Okay, maybe a little bit then? But it's only after she's sure they're not upset or embarrassed.

That gets a chuckle. <Yeah, you will,> but he says it warmly, shifting his wings a little. <But I won't hold it against you. It is funny, the first time you see it. And hear it.> Which is one of the reasons he wouldn't be willing to do it where just anyone could see and hear.

"Okay, then I promise to not laugh too much," Evie replies with a small smile. "Just a small chuckle or something. That much, I can guarantee."

Sound good?

Tobias nods, and turns his gaze back to the book. <What kind of stuff do you make?>

"Currently, my favorite thing to make is hand-made pasta and ravioli, but it takes a long time and there are a lot of people on the train to feed." It's not even her chore this month, but Evie can be found in the kitchen frequently.

"But there's a variety. I just...don't do well with baking. At all. Not sure why I couldn't get the hang of it, but it's just not within my capabilities."

Tobias is very glad, in that moment, that he's a hawk. It's easy for him to hide the disappointment when she says she's not very good at baking.

<That sounds like it's really hard to do. Making pasta, I mean. I've only ever made it from the box, but maybe I could help, sometime,> he could even adopt a human form, if she insisted. Or maybe even Andalite. That was a morph he was fond of, at least. <Have you ever made french fries?>
