Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

Knight Quest

Upstairs in the games carriage there is a VR game set. There are enough headsets and controllers for four people to play. One of the games is Knight Quest!

A game that can either be played on single adventure mode or with the other three headsets in a campaign mode. It is a typical fantasy rpg about a young hero who is searching for a magical item to save the world. The story is simple but fun and engaging. The hero has a sword and shield and fighting in this game requires some physical skill, but practice makes perfect!

Games are a good way of gaining skills so team up and save the world, fighting monsters and practising fighting in a safe controlled environment! Just… Don’t bash into each other.

Making your own Fun

The standard coach doesn’t have all that much in it. Just rows of seats, though at the front of the carriage seats have been ripped up and bookshelves installed.

It’s a good place to read or write in their journals. Or annoy other passengers by climbing from one side of the carriage to the other without touching the floor.

Rehabilitation

The train has arrived at a collection of planets. That is good because your task is finding a place for the lindusi (large lizard creatures, recently rescued from a dying planet) to be settled and the more choices the better.

Team One

The first job is predominantly scouting. The scientists in charge of the lindusi relocation project have given the team a list of important features for a planet to have.

It’s like a scavenger hunt but for running water, certain types of plants, prey animals and other features. They have lent the void treckers some basic scientific equipment for testing the environment.

Team Two

Not all of these planets are going to be empty of hostile creatures. The second teams task is to accompany the first team and keep them safe. They have been given shielding devices, easy to use energy shields large enough to fit two people behind. They are handheld and a quick press of a button will activate the shield.

There are plenty of predators, from bears to strange flying aliens that want to eat you. Good luck!

Team Three

Once a suitable planet has been found the third team are to get the lindusi there. In shuttle ships. They aren’t too difficult to pilot, which is good because the lindusi relocation program is very short staffed.

Once they are safely landed it is a case of releasing them into the wild, in safe locations away from any immediate danger. The lindusi are still recovering from their trip through space after all.

"A complete adjustment." Hibiki sighs. The view out this window offends her in its clamorousness, so with a flick of her fingers she turns it into an illusion of the Palps. There. Until and unless sustaining this gives her a headache, she'll be comfortable.

Besides, this way she can better see herself reflected in the window, and really, that's any surface's most desirable aspect.

The spygoat is doing its best to maa-ke putting the books away easy for Romeo, sticking close. One of its compaa-triots arrives with a tea refill. Hibiki accepts this, sips. Addresses Romeo without looking at him, given the presence of Herself in her view, and such:

"Well, my objectives remain unchanged. Inform Elfnein that CelePara Talent Agency shall perform on our next stop."

Someone either missed the memo about the teamwork thing or else Does Not Care.

Romeo grinned at his spygoat friend as they stacked the books back on the shelf together but looks over at Hibiki as she speaks.

"On the next stop? What if it's a mission miss Hibiki? It would be dangerous to perform then!"

He won't let Elfnein be in danger! It's his job to protect her!

Hibiki dismisses "missions" with a wave of her non-tea-holding-hand. "All such prayers exist for the glory of the God Apollo. We'll employ my aesthetics to exceed their expectations, and if the request is distasteful, disregard it."

A long sip of tea, for effect. Yes. Just as there had been no call for her to take personal action during much of her last printergalactic trip, word of Apollo's might will spread even if sometimes she deems a spot unworthy of an appearance in the flesh. As long as she performs somewhere. As long as she answers prayers.... "There's no need to rush."

"I don't think it works like that on lots of the worlds. I don't know if they got the same gods. Or if they pray. But I guess missions are like prayers, people need help and we go help them!"

But he's not sure aesthetics will help. Mostly because he doesn't know that word and he doesn't have his phone with him so he can't look it up. He pressed his lips together as if thinking and then decided to ask anyways.

Sometimes Hibiki was a good question answerer. "What does aesthetic mean?"

The phrase echoes in her mind. A heavy weight settles upon Hibiki, burdening her with the renewed knowledge of her audience's excessive limitations. For him to even lack awareness of the word.....

She slumps, looking both ill and extremely unimpressed. "That suddenly, much has been explained."

The book goat shakes its head (or, well, its whole body, since joints for stuffed animal maa-ppendages are in short supply): even it knows Maa-ster is not providing the correct definition. But it's such an important word to her! She maa-bsolutely will fix this as soon as she has a chance to rally from the onslaught of despaa-ir that has just descended upon her maa-gnificent soul!

Probaa-bly!

That much has been explained? That doesn't make sense in the sentence she had said before which makes him think that it's not really the right meaning. He sighed. Sometimes Hibiki is not good at explaining it.

Also the goat is shaking, Romeo looked down at it. "I guess I upset miss Hibiki again, huh?" He did that a lot. He never meant to.

"I'm sorry miss Hibiki. I can ask someone else if you want."

Hibiki has a headache and a terrible sense of inevitability. She puts one hand to her head and another up in a halting motion. "No. Other sources are insufficient."

Oh, how she detests not being able to demand lesser people perform menial tasks. But this one is too important to entrust elsewhere (especially not if the makeup of this train's cast is anything like the Far Shore's). Romeo is Elfnein's shinki, and therefore both influenced by and influencing her. Hibiki can't have someone who doesn't understand an aesthetic near her protege. It's too hazardous.

But.......how to make an idiot comprehend......?

In any case, how fortunate for Romeo that her genius shall be able to compensate for his limitations. She rises, then nods to the seat. "You'll be seated."

Freed of all the books, the book goat wheels away and then returns in a tiny graduation cap, to look Scholarly. It carries a sepaa-rate one on its platter, which it offers to Romeo. Special delimaa-ry!

"Um. Okay miss." Looks like it was lesson time with Hibiki. He sat down in the seat and got ready to listen. He just hoped he understood. Some of miss Hibiki's lessons were really tricky!

But he will be a good student! He picked up the hat, a little confused, but he put it on his head anyways. Maybe this was part of the lesson.

At least he's an attentive student. Hibiki waves a hand, and the illusion of a movie screen drops from the ceiling. A flickering "projector light" appears on it, counting down. The rest of the lights in the car grow dim.

"Aesthetics are something best intuited, not comprehended," she explains, which is in no way an attempt to get out of having to define something that she herself takes for granted as obviously as breathing (and perhaps more: one's breath can be stopped by sentence enders). "Watching every film of mine that's won a Parademy Award shall impart understanding to your mind by inspiration."

Oh. The goat in a hat....the goat in a hat has brought NOT ENOUGH PROPS. It turns to a compaa-nion, who wiggles in maa-greement, rolls out - and comes back with popcorn. This is shaping up to be quite the maa-rathon!

Hibiki always enjoys conjuring her own work. Surely that, and her noble aim, will keep her headache at bay........

Best intuited and not comprehended? He doesn't have a clue what that means but now there is a projector and it is going dark and the goat is bringing popcorn.

This is a very strange lesson. "We are going to watch one of your movies?"

He's only seen two movies ever, Hibiki's big movie in the heavens and one about superheroes that Joss took him to see.

"Several." Hibiki takes a seat as well, though if she spreads her legs much further she's going to end up occupying more than one person's worth of space. "I'll overwhelm you with sufficient splendor to blossom realization in your mind, like a sprouting orchid working its way through concrete."

"Purimount", says the logo on the screen. The movie is beginning. How exciting!

It is a science fiction movie about Space. Hibiki is a Space Pilot and has Dashing Adventures, yet always escapes from near misses with a triumphant laugh! And every woman she meets (though in this movie, "she" is a "he") falls in love with her!

Yes, some things are staples of each Shikyoin Hibiki Cinematic Exprierience.

"Oh." She was going to grow a flower in his head by making him watch movies. That made no sense.

But he would enjoy the film anyways. This one was about space, Romeo has been to space! It had been exciting for the small amount of time he was there, this film is very different than that though!

"Is the space pilot going to get married to all those people?"

It had slipped her mind that Romeo speaks during screenings. Fortunately for both of them, Hibiki always feels better when looking at herself. Her conjuring of the illusory movie doesn't even ripple. (The space pilot sets about saving the current woman in love with him from some Space Paliens. Which look a lot like jellyfish.)

"No, his charm is simply irresistible." In fact - this is a moment, isn't it? A moment to drive the point home. Identifying the most suitable circumstances for all activities is yet another hallmark of genius. "It's a part none but I could play."

Because of her aesthetic. Surely even he can draw that connection.

Now: let enlightenment be granted!!!

Jellyfish are bad news so Romeo is not surprised by this plotline one little bit! He watched as the space pilot rescued the woman and listened to Hibiki explain.

"His charm? Why can you only play it miss Hibki?"

He's still not sure what aesthetic is or what it has to do with bad news jellyfish and space pilots!

This is one confusing lesson!

"Hrk!"

The magnificent, marvelous God of Fortune, Apollo, does not let such setbacks interrupt her show: the movie keeps playing. But the first stab of a headache has just made its presence known.

Pressing the aching spot as if she can will it away (or maybe she just likes to pose), Hibiki sighs. "...Watch in silence and all will be revealed."

Or just. Watch in silence. That would be good. It looks like there is a big battle scene coming up, with lots of fancy piloting tricks!

"Um... Okay miss."

He falls silent, he still doesn't understand but he tries his best to watch quietly. It's hard. Because moments later he has a thousand more questions. The ship is going really fast though and there are bright lights and they are defeating the bad news jellyfish! So that's a good thing!

But he still has no idea what aesthetic even means.

At Romeo's side (and taking up progressively more space as the watch party goes on): a resolute god, broadcasting Her noble ideals as a blessing upon this audience. Let no headache interrupt Her, no confusion daunt Her! Should this one film fail to suffice, then the next - or the next - Surely, the next after that -----!!

How many movies it will take before one of these people can stand this no longer is a mystery not even a Delpric prophecy could resolve.

It would indeed take a few movies, because Romeo is just confused. Bogged down with confusing plots and intricate fight scenes.

He's having fun though! Hibiki is a good actress he thinks!

But he still has no idea what aesthetic means!
