Mission: You are Not Alone OOC Plotting
MISSION 18: OOC DETAILS
Our next Mission begins 16th July (Symphony 8) and lasts until the 30th July. There will be a start log on the 16th, and then Ongoing on the 21st (Symphony 11). The finale will be on the 25th (Symphony 13) and a conclusion post will go up on the 30th.
The TL;DR of the mission is: a technologically advanced planet has been invaded by another and is on the brink of destruction. Fight monsters and destroy ships, protect the people of the planet. Areas will be split between 3 cities and the chance to go out into outer space.
Humans live on the planet, and non-humans will set off alarms initially, but the Voidtreckers can smooth over relations by showing they're there to help. As it's a catastrophe mission, there will be an urgent mood throughout it.

On Day Eight of Symphony, the train announces that they are going to respond to a catastrophe mission. Their destination is system #3721010010, a non-void active system and more pertinently, one that is on the ministry's list.
System #3721010010 is a system with few planets spaced out, with contact only recently established. The planet that the catastrophe has been registered on is designated B, but the people there call it 'earth'.
It is a planet with many cultures and countries. The technology level is high, they have transportation, and the ability to explore nearby space and more is accomplished by machines. However, they do not have any artificial intelligence, and they lack the technology to live outside their planet.
Just under a month ago they were invaded by those from the planet designated E. This planet is far more technologically advanced than any other in the system, and has used that to its advantage. In just a few weeks, they have reduced planet B to near extinction.
Save as many people as you can, fight off the threat from planet E and find the scientists and their research if you can.
Purple Team:
- Fight the invaders and keep them back from civilian areas, assist those resisting on planet B fight the threat to their world.
- Set up defences or lure the enemy away and take the fight to unoccupied areas.
- Help protect Blue Team as they move survivors
Red Team:
- Enemy ships are using cloaking technology to hide out in space. Investigate suspected locations of these ships and take them down if possible
- Take down any hostiles protecting the ships
- Relay information to any allies on the world of correct coordinates so that ships can be taken down
Blue Team:
- Help locate people in peril and to bring them to safety
- Set up defenses and reconnect the scattered remnants of humanity, so that they have a fighting chance
- Help with the spread of supplies, and coordinating aid as needed
Orange Team:
- Find the scientists that are hiding on the planet. There will be a series of locations sent to your SCA's to investigate
- Gather data on what is most effective on enemy forces
- Help to find a way of detecting enemy ships despite their cloaking technology
Note: The threat here is powerful, and will take all you have to fight off these invaders. Remember that the priority is the protection of lives. It might be worth taking the SCA tethering kits given to this crew by the ministry, just in case.
➜ LANDSCAPE, SETTING. The 'earth' they are going to is made of three main continents and many countries. It is vast, but many survivors have made their way to a handful of major cities to shelter and to make their final stands.
Red Team will be dropped off near Weirwich, Purple and Blue Teams will be dropped off near Medborough, and Orange Team will be dropped on the eastern continent, a distance from Starbury. Voidtreckers won't know about this until they approach their destinations.
- Starbury is on the eastern continent. It is a port city, which has meant many of those fleeing the enemy have managed to escape over the water to it. It has the largest amount of survivors, with supplies running low but morale keeping high as the city is well situated to mount a defense.
- Medborough is a large city on the northern continent. It was a sprawling metropolis, with large sky scraper buildings. Now, much of it is destroyed. There are still people present, but the enemy has broken through their defenses and the survivors are in hiding. Using the underground transport system to move around and attack from below, the people are still putting up a fight. But how long can they last?
- Weirwich is a city in the far south of the world. It was invaded early on and many people fled, but those who remained fought back and managed to drive the enemies out of the city. Now they hold it, but are besieged. As well as themselves who are trapped, their city holds a large number of food storage warehouses that could alleviate problems in the other cities, if only the supplies could be moved.
They also have functioning spaceships, which is likely why the invading forces have returned for them.
➜ FLORA, FAUNA. Most of the planet has been destroyed by the invaders. A lot of this destruction seems to have served no purpose. Mountains toppled just because they were in the way, forests scorched, valleys flooded. The invaders' purpose seems to be a complete destruction of the planet and its people.
Outside the destruction, the planet clearly had a variety of natural life - from forests to deserts, vast oceans and mountainous regions. Depending where they are in the world, they will find different plant and animal species attempting to survive the chaos around them.
➜ ENEMIES. Invading army forces. Very strong and resilient, the troops carry large blaster weapons, but also rely on brute strength and hand to hand fighting; they shoot only when necessary, in what is likely to be an attempt to preserve ammunition.
There are bio-metal creatures used as search & destroy units, bipedal army troops, and spaceships to deal with. Team effort is likely to take down most of the targets, and the known weaknesses are few except to keep attacking until they fall.
Click here for further details on enemies.
- SEARCHER UNITS: These bio-metal creatures are usually the first wave of an attack. The upper left (Crawlers) and bottom (Beasts) are fighting units. The Beats move swiftly on the ground, while the Crawlers can climb and jump around buildings from great heights. The Wasp units (top right) are the fastest and most silent, scanning for targets and alerting the others to come for them.
Their bodily armour is tough to crack, and they are clever, hunting in packs and splitting up groups to pick them off one by one. They are capable of laser fire, and will even think to target buildings to bring down on their prey. However, they can't fire this continuously.
Their weak spot is attacking directly into their 'mouths', the red spot, but it's easier to ensure they have no charge left before attempting this. - TANK UNITS: These are the big threats, huge hulking creatures in near-impenetrable amour pieces. They are a lot slower than the searchers, but they hit a lot harder. Destruction is their aim, and they will smash up buildings, wreck infrastructure and kill anything in their path. They are intelligent creatures and so, in a one on one fight, are formidable opponents.
- FLIGHT UNITS: These creatures are smaller than the tank units and not quite as fast as the searchers, but they are capable of flight. They are used predominantly to scout more difficult to get to areas, and to take out any resistance there.
- SPACESHIPS: There are a number of large space ships situated around the planet. They are cloaked, invisible to both radar and to the eye until you are close enough to pass through the shields. Even the train technology can't pick up exact locations but it can pinpoint areas to be searched.
The ships are large and bulky, designed to carry troops and equipment rather than space fighting. However that isn't to say they don't have defensive capability. They are fitted with gun turrets and manned to keep attackers at bay. They are flying fortresses, designed to keep enemies out and it will take a team effort to take them down.
➜ POWER RESTRICTIONS. There are no power restrictions for this mission.
➜ LOOTING, SCAVENGING. There is plenty to loot if looting is your style. Many homes lie empty, people shelter where they can, most of the people here are looting and scavenging to survive. There are supermarkets and other shops, many stripped of supplies already but others might have resources if the voidtreckers go and look for it.
➜ SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCH. There isn't much information on where exactly these scientist might be on this world, but the train has provided a list of likely facilities to search.
Many of them will be easy to cross off, destroyed by aliens already, nothing to be found if there ever was anything there - however, there are five facilities still standing. They are scattered around the planet and there will be options for those searching these facilities.
➜ NPCS, CIVILIANS. There are many cultures in the world, and within them are a vast array of different people and different languages. None of them will be any Voidtreckers will know personally, but their universal translators will help them with that.
Attitudes to the invasion vary wildly. People are scared, angry, and conspiracy theories areabound. Some people want to hide, others want to fight, and many are looking for their family. The world is made up of humans, and so non-humans will get a definite side eye and immediate alarm. However, once they establish they are on the humans side and not the side of the invading alien army, most people will be fine with them. They know nothing of the void, but until a few weeks ago they believed themselves alone in their universe, so...
There are pockets of order and command, world leaders and their armies are fighting, but it has taken a while for people to begin actually coming together - and for them to realise that their only hope is to make a stand in one of the remaining cities.
Feel free as ever to play your own npcs, or request one using the form below.
➜ SCA. There are no immediate effects to taking their SCA's off on this mission except that they won't be able to understand anyone who doesn't speak their language. The people on earth speak many languages but none are exactly like any the voidtreckers know. They might find similar ones that sound almost like a language from their world but with enough differences to be difficult to communicate.
➜ REWARDS. Taking part in a mission in any way will earn you five team points. You claim those by submitting a link during AC.
Also threads of 10 comments or more where mission goals are being worked towards will also earn you 10 team points. To claim those please fill in the form below and reply to the rewards header.
Please feel free to use this as a plotting post. Remember there is nothing forcing your character to do the task assigned to their group so if you wish to do a different one, feel free! If your character decides to not do any of the tasks at all, that’s fine too!
For those who are new or who want a bit more guidance, please check out our mission guide!
Have fun plotting!
Questions?

Different character note, but: would a giant dragon be a good distraction for luring a spaceship out for a takedown?
no subject
If a giant dragon can survive being outside of space, it would catch the ships off-guard for the first few days.

Re: Questions?
Transportation in space?: For the cloaked enemy spaceships, are the characters getting access to spaceships to search for them around the planet?
Bio-metal creatures: Can Death Incarnate cut their threads and end their lives quickly? Or are they not "alive" with a soul of some kind?
Not human alarms: If someone is half-human, half-something else, do they still set off any of those alarms?I took this too literally. Disregard lol(no subject)

Re: Questions?
If a person fights, say a flyer, and defeats them, but the flyer spots a weakness in their fighting style, will a further enemy exploit this?

He tragically does not have any useful scanning magic so he's probably gonna be doing some real legwork. (Well, when he isn't using air magic to speed up his travel time.)
Re: Searching
She's got no powers that would help with this, but she is a detective so she is at least good at noticing stuff that might be helpful/important.
