Test Drive 036
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun.
Happy testing!
It's a jungle out... in there
No one knows what happened. A plant brought back from a world, some cross pollination or a magic spell gone wrong? Whatever the cause the results are clear enough. Large leafy plants dominate the greenhouse, almost blocking the void light from the glass. Vines twist along the floor and large headed flowers sit menacingly across paths.
Perhaps it should just be enjoyed, lean into nature and hope those flowers aren't too hungry. Giant plants are a great place for hide and seek after all, or to get in some good climbing practice.
Or perhaps they are of the opinion that it should be pruned. There is some garden equipment but perhaps nothing that will deal with plants of this size. Ever trimmed a hedge with a great-sword?
Storage Wars
A problem with living in close quarters with a hundred other people is that peoples standards of tidy are very different. Some people like everything neat, everything has a place and that place is perhaps labelled.
Others are more loose with their tidying. As long as things aren't on the floor or cluttering up tables too much it's fine.
Then there are those who just leave things everywhere and don't seem to notice the mess. Like whoever left the art carriage like this.
Every drawer open, paints, craft paper and colouring pencils everywhere. What can be done? Perhaps it is best to just tidy it up.., again, or leave it with the hope the culprit will come back.
Perhaps it is time to go to the ICP and demand justice for this mess! Hunt down the perpetrator and make them clean up after themselves.
Or perhaps, just perhaps it is you that is the one to blame and who is trying to avoid justice and a few hours of cleaning duty.
Lava Flows
Histri is a formidable, inhospitable world. The land is dry and cracked with rivers of lava flowing between unstable crusts. It might seem impossible that any life can exist here at all. Yet it does. Lizards, wurms, large spiders and Gri- meter tall orange lizard-like people who do not quite have language yet.
The main community of Gri is under threat, there is a large volcano that is due to erupt, and the main home of the Gri lies in the foothills, in the direct path of any eruptionTeam One
A vital task is moving the Gri! For that there will need to be those who can convince them to move, explain the danger and help with the task of relocating people who are only beginning to form communities. They distrust strangers. Any other creatures that can be herded should be as well, it won't be possible to save every creature but every animal saved is a victory here. Be wary not all the animals are friendly...Team Two
Of course there is no point moving people and creatures if you have no where to move them to. Team Two's job is to locate a suitable place. It might be difficult to ascertain suitable in this hellish landscape but as long as it is out of the range of the volcano.
There will be dangers to contend with on the way and many obstacles in the way of unstable ground and lava rivers to move around.Team Three
Of course if this were an ordinary volcano it would be far too easy. Before the ash and the lava come fire elementals. These demonic looking creatures burn whatever they touch and seem to exist only to cause chaos.
They crawl from the volcano and seek to spread out over the land. Water attacks work best but they do go down under normal and magical damage eventually. Killing them fast is the best way to avoid disaster.
Aya Brea | Parasite Eve
As annoying as it might have been to arrive in the Art Carriage to find it in such disarray, Aya was somewhat used to rolling with punches - and as punches go, this one was pretty good. Besides, it didn't take an ace detective to figure out that the culprit was one of the much younger passengers. They were likely just proud of what they made and wanted to show it to someone, leaving their work station in such a mess out of excitement. Aya bit her lip, a tinge of jealousy taking her by surprise. So what, you like kids. Get over it, Agent Brea.
Aya didn't really mind cleaning up. She'd come in here just as a matter of course while exploring the carriages, and maybe to see what kind of supplies there were for crafts. Didn't I read somewhere that crafts could be meditative for adults? As it happens, so is cleaning.
First things first, though. What was still usable? The FBI agent began sorting through the coloured construction paper gingerly, narrowing her eyes as she figured out what could be salvageable for another project.
Lava Flows | Team Three
Aya's body hummed with parasite energy, a tone she somehow felt more than heard herself. With it came the familiar flush on her skin as she quite literally warmed up. Considering how hot her body usually got when she went all out with her powers, the fire monsters weren't too bad. There was a refreshing breeze coming off the beasts and their fireballs, if nothing else.
That being said, there were a lot of them. The team had been somewhat delayed in arriving, giving the volcano time to seemingly buff up its forces. Of course, it didn't seem like the volcano was a sentient being lashing out by spawning monsters...of course, given her history, Aya wouldn't be surprised if it were. What mattered now, though, was thinning the herd enough to give the others time to relocate the Gri. So that's what she did.
Crouched behind a boulder, Aya popped out to shoot a couple times, mostly trying to get a better sense of the monsters' numbers. "Do we have a count?" she yelled out, looking around for her teammates. She wasn't exactly used to working with others anymore, but she was at least aware of her own limitations.

Despite her age, the girl looks utterly disgusted with the mess and is hastily making her way through it. Starting with the open bottles of liquid and the caps of markers before making her way through to the less pressing objects.
Her eyebrows furrow at a big glob of open glue ruining untouched construction paper. Ugh. What a waste of resources. "Excuse me," she mutters, looking over at Aya. "Have you seen the scissors?"
no subject
Agent Brea climbs to her feet when Agent Eight asks for the scissors. "I haven't seen them yet, actually." She smiles briefly before scrunching her lips together, playful. "Did you need them to finish your project?" Aya approaches Agent Eight, putting her hands on her knees as she leans over, her tone of voice clearly geared toward a much younger person. "I'm excited to see it! Will you show it to me?"

Wen Ning/Ghost General [The Untamed]
[Wen Ning was still getting used to the new setting. Everything about the place was foreign. He also didn't like not having his traditional robes and cloak, let alone his chains. He used those chains for fighting. Now he felt too open and vulnerable. The stares he got was even more evident and people quickly gave him the space if he approachd a crowd. He missed that cloak. At least the hoody kind of helped hide the dark veins along his neckline and how pale his skin was. The cloak had done a better job.He gave an inward sigh.
He back to his old habits of hiding in the back and shrinking himself a bit to avoid being noticed. He had taken a few books from the library and was trying to find a place to read where he wouldn't be bothered or feel as if he were bothering others.]
2)Garden Carriage
[Wen Ning found himself spending more time in the gardens then anywhere among the train. It had the least amount of people and it was also easy to hide in. This was also close to home as he could find. He missed living among the trees and having the open spaces that the forests would provide. Let alone the lakes and rivers. He took to tending to the plants and noted which ones might serve medical purposes.]
3)Wild card
Feel free to write your own prompt. Any questions please pm!

Agent 8 | Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
The plants were wild in a way that Eight had never seen before. Her eyes widen at the sight of the overgrowth threatening to make its way out to the other cabins. It was very obviously a mess that would need to be fixed.
But no doubt it will be removed eventually. So, why not enjoy it?
Shifting to her octopus form, the Octoling squeezed her way past the vines and leaves toward the center of the room. As wild as things were outside, inside was even grander. Finding a large overhanging leaf, she gathered similar ones to make a very comfortable bed. Maybe she could find out what caused this, make it a semi-permanent feature? At least a version that didn't have menacing vines grasping for her arm.
Storage Wars
She tried, oh she tried. Since seeing the state of the storage area, Eight had been fighting the urge to go to the storage area and put everything away. It was someone else's fault! Why should she clean up another person's mess? But with each minute that passed her mind went back to the clutter: glue oozing out onto fresh construction paper, pencils and paintbrushes sitting in the same jar, open tubes of paint solidifying into one unusable mass, and, worst of all, glitter--GLITTER--threatening to scatter all over.
She was half-way through dinner when she let out an audible scream, splashing her way over everyone to get to work. Think of the disorganization! Think of the waste! THINK OF THE GLITTER!!
Lava Flows Team 2
Maneuvering through terrain was one thing, but what was far different was the heat. Try as she might, the state of the world was enough that it started to dry herself from the inside out if she stepped too close to the lava flows.
In all honesty, it made the challenge all the more thrilling. As Eight spun through the air, she banked from one path to the next, eyes constantly present on the lava flow beneath her. One may suspect she was showing off were it not for the focus in her eyes.
"Careful." She'll state to the other team members. "Fall in and you'll have a one-way trip to the Luggage car!"
Lava Flows
Usagi realized she was way over her head in this. Oh, sure, being Sailor Moon gave her better agility and balance, but this was lava they were dealing with! This wasn't good at all.
With a grunt, she made her way over to the next spot, trying to keep herself away from the lava.
Why did she have such long hair?!
no subject
Hopefully she could do something if it looked like Usagi was going to make a tumble.
"Well, we know that it's bad but you do get to respawn! Though I would be worried for your clothes... and hair...? Um..." Huh. Human hair is kinda like fur, right? "...can hair catch fire, Usagi?"
no subject
She made another hop before stopping.
“Hold on, I think I got an idea.” She said, before reaching down and taking her twintails, curling them around her buns like she was going to take a bath.
no subject
And, like a mimic, Eight reaches for her her own dangling hair tentacles before bunching them in a bun behind her, which looks more like a takoyaki ball. She takes a moment to find a stray piece of string to tie it all together.

"I only wish we had a better sense of what we're even looking for.'

"So, maybe it was good that someone clumsy like you came along. If you can get through this area, then so should most of the villagers." It made perfect sense to her.

She let out a sigh as she shook her head. “Let’s keep going. We need to see how far this goes.”
no subject
As she moved forward, she came across an edge that sloped partially towards the lava. The flat side of which was only large enough to allow one person through at a time. "The ground here is kinda tricky. Maybe we should try going another way?" Or did Usagi think that this way would be okay?
no subject
She looked around to another path before hopping across it.
“Looks like this one is wider, but maybe a little farther.”
no subject
As they were making their way a thought came to mind. Were they in the Octo Canyon, they would most definitely use the more difficult path through the lava. Their way was never about making things easy. In fact, the harder it was to get to their homes, the better.
To find a path to help people was... kinda nice? She chuckled a little inwardly at how different this all felt.
no subject
"Feels like we might be taking a lower path. Not sure if it's good..."

“Watch out!” She shouted, reaching out to grab her and pull her close
Isabella Madrigal | Encanto
The greenhouse is something that Isabella is drawn to. Of course, she still is in disgust that her clothes were gone and she'd been given...well, she'd corrected her new clothes with a few well placed pollen pops. She's not afraid of the plants but approaches the ones that look a little more menacing than others.
Oh, they're being strangled.
She straightens and clenches her fist, pulling it toward her, clearing the vines away from the larger flowers, weaving the vines, instead, to create swings for people to have fun on.
no subject
Once it seems she's pleased with her work the octopus slowly slinks it's way, pushing its tentacles in quiet propulsion. In an instant an inky form flows upwards into the shape of a girl. She shakes it off, leaning forward and peering curiously at the swings.
Her hand reaches down on it, examining it with a confused curiosity, moving it back and forth and back again experimentally.
((also brief fyi, 'Isabella' would be pronounced 'Isa-bay-a' in Spanish! I think the correct spelling is 'Isabela'))
no subject
She’s surprised when she finds that she has company. Is this one a shifter like Camilo? How did she change forms? Was there another miracle in the world?
“You sit on it. And can swing on it,” she offers.
no subject
"Mmm." The girl nodded, pushing it back and forth. "But what's the point?"
She sat down experimentally. "It's too unstable to be a chair, and it's not large enough to be used as a platform." It seemed like something the Octarian army would use to slow down an invader, but it was way too small for that.
jiang yanli | the Untamed (AU)
Yanli had wanted to get away from...well, from her new situation. Perhaps do some painting. She has Zidian, she has her sword, and her golden core. That's comforting enough. A little bit of painting would relax her, she thinks.
She makes her way to the art car and gasps softly when she sees the state of it.
Lava Flows
Team 1:
Yanli doesn't give them a choice as she flies in on her sword. She snatches up Gri after Gri, passing each citizen over to those who were in charge of relocation. The heat is starting to get to her but this is no different than when she was trying to save her own sect from the clutches of the Wen.
She pushes down the fear of the past, the memories and adrenaline that drove her, a-Xian, and a-Cheng to save their sect as quickly as possible.
