April Information and CR meme!
We hope everyone had a fun month! Some information for your ongoing journey.
IC Month
The Train
On platform day the train shop will be updated with Large Animals purchasable for 180 points. This can be any creature as long as they can fit on the train comfortably. In some cases the creature can be larger if they can be contained (e.g pokemon with pokeballs).
If there is worry about where these large creatures will live, it won't last long. When passengers return to the train after the platform, they will find a new carriage.
The Stable & Kennels carriage is a double carriage. On the first floor, there is a set of stairs to one side, and a fence that opens up to six stables. On the side without stairs are two large cupboards, filled with brushes, shovels and buckets. Food and bedding can also be stored here, but those as well as feed must be bought. You must go through the aisle to get to the other side of the carriage.
Upstairs are where the kennels are kept, stacked crates. There are also smaller crates for smaller animals to be put in, and this area is laid out the same as the stables. In one corner (inside the fencing) is a washing station that can be walked into, and a door closed behind. It's a tight fit and very basic with a hose that gives hot and cold water and a simple blow-dryer. There is a small rack of brushes to one side, but anything more fancy or specific will need to be bought.
It's a simple set-up, and any bigger animals that can't fit on the grooming station will need to be worked on inside a spare stable. There are some clips for harnesses and leashes to be attached if necessary.
We realise this was a carriage in the voting pool- but we needed somewhere for the animals! On the voting pool it will be reclassified as an upgrade with a new cost and if met will mean the carriage will be upgraded with the suggestions characters gave and made more fancy!
Monthly Plotting
IC Month
This month is the month of Quicksand. Days can be found here.
The thought of the month is "I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light."
This means: Any thread where you tag new CR will earn you two bonus points in March and April.
Threads that fulfil this criteria can be submitted during April AC. You may find it easier to keep a tracking list of threads for easy compiling of bonus AC.
The ingredient of the month is pineapple. Recipes are here. All the ingredients can be found in the storeroom, refreshed at the platform, and characters are welcome to make other food with them.
This month’s chore assignments are:

As a reminder, you can list things that characters have added to the train here. Just comment under the header of the carriage to which you are adding. There is also a handy spreadsheet here!

Feedback
Thank you for everyone who took time to reply to our request for feedback on the new mission system.
~ Overall, we heard that you liked the new system with the multiple specific goals for each team, and that it made it easier to decide what you wanted to do and plan for threads. There was some feedback that it was hard to match prompts in the IC post to the task, and we will make sure we keep the order simpler and clearer so everyone knows which task is which in the future.
~ Check Ins: It was felt that having a check in/thread hand-in before ongoing was a bit too tight timewise and was stressful for those who were later in joining. It was also pointed out that our ongoing in this mission didn't really add anything new. This was more because we were testing out the new system. In future missions, we are going to ask for check-ins only once: before the finale. Ongoing will be used only for adding extra prompts and challenges for those who want more to do, since ongoing has always been an optional extra.
~ Consequences: There was some concern about the idea that tasks could fail or have overly harsh consequences for tasks not being completed. There was concern that this would hit those who weren't able to tag a lot on the missions and could lead to ooc problems between players. We would like to publicly reassure everyone about this.
Our aim was to give people more of a chance to feel like they were contributing and feel involved even if they weren't able to tag a lot. So if your character would be doing six tasks and you only had chance to thread one, they would still be contributing to the other five with your check-in. Having the check-ins gives us a better oversight, so we could take people's efforts into consideration without having to read every mission thread.
We know there was some upset about the dralites in ongoing, and we would like to apologise for that. It seemed a natural thing for the wildlife to be in peril considering the mission itself and the player plot that caused some destruction, rather than it being some kind of punishment for a task not being completed. However we will be more mindful in future.
If there ever is going to be a serious consequence for failure, we will make sure it is obviously signposted beforehand and that that task would be highlighted as the most important. However we do not plan to have harsh consequences or situations where characters would fail. We aren't here to make you guys feel bad or guilty!
Finally it should go without saying that if there was ever a case where people were oocly giving others grief about what tasks they did or did not do, then that is something you should bring to us straight away and it would not be tolerated.
~ Boss Battles: We also want to reassure you that there will still be a space for missions with big boss battles! Not all missions lend themselves to having a big bad at the end and we wanted to make sure the noncombatant characters get time to shine too! But there will definitely be more big fights in the future.
~ TL;DR: Outside of the new system we got some feedback that our missions and events have gotten a bit word-heavy and bogged down in detail lately, making them hard to read and harder to follow. This is something we will be working on: in making missions more concise, easier to read and simpler to pick out the key information.
Once again thank you to all who left us feedback. It was good to hear what you were enjoying and wanted to see more of as well as what you were struggling with or disliked. Our new system feedback post is still open if anyone else wants to leave comments and as ever the mods can be approached on mod contact or personally on discord or plurk.
Other Info
~ As mentioned last month, this month marks us entering 'chapter 5' of the game plot. This chapter will be a little different than those that came before because it will not follow the mission-event-mission pattern so strictly. There will still be a good mix of both type of events, though, and we will always let you know at the beginning of the month which to expect. This is just to help with the flow of things.
~ There will be lots of places for characters to get involved with plot both big and small, but if you ever have an idea (or want to get involved and are unsure how) then please come chat to a mod or leave us a comment on shenanigans!
~ Likewise if you are someone who is involved in organising for a team please make sure the information about teams and who to chat to in order to be involved in that is up to date on the initiatives page. Please make sure it is clear how newer characters can get involved and who best to chat to both IC and OOC!
~ The roster has been updated with points for this month.
~ We have been trying to do EMP regularly! Please let us know any castmates you would like in the thread below!
Important Dates
