Culinary Containment

Every month, the train's stores are filled with crates of ingredients for use by its passengers. And every month, one ingredient is the focal point of all recipes. Potatoes, cinnamon, seaweed… but as the train pulls away from the station this month, there seems to have been a blip in the system when it comes to deciding on a biologically-appropriate foodstuff.

Spilling out from the storage carriage and into the kitchen are hundreds of live frogs. They're in the sinks, they're in the ovens, they're hopping alarmingly close to the transgates that link the area up to the sleepers...

Vote-Rigging

At the behest of its passengers, the train has instituted a voting system to allow for more carriage options and upgrades. Passengers are able to submit new ideas, or crowdfund those already suggested...

It's the night before platform, and all through the train, no one was stirring... Apart from your group, with your stockpile of a thousand points and the luminous voting panel you're all currently pouring them into. Bouncy castle carriage? Funded! Fishing carriage? Funded! Clocks? Eh... You have the points. Funded!

Then it's simply a matter of waiting for the morning, and seeing the chaos you've caused to the layout of the Voidtrecker Express. What new delights have you discovered?

Repo Train

The Void Ministry have another task for the Express: locating and repossessing the contents of a number of minor storage craft in an old mercantile zone. The coordinates are given, a small fleet of space-worthy craft and sufficient hazmat gear has been deposited at the meeting site for Voidtrecker use.

The main area is cushy enough, a round communal area surrounded by living pods renovated for basic Voidtrecker requirements. The hangar above allows for groups to head to the next assigned storage location, or to return with their piles of lawfully impounded gains.

Team One

High-risk storage locations are this team's priority. Potentially explosive material, artifacts or experiments without the requisite paperwork explaining how or why they were made, sometimes living creatures, the kind that shouldn't have been left in a large metal crate habitat for a decade. Opening these areas is a study in initiative and dealing with unpleasant surprises!

Team Two

This team are the back-up for the first group - once the artifacts, creatures or hazardous material has been made safe and brought back, they have to be recorded. Scanned. Studied, and compared to the extensive lists of potential contraband or lost goods. Sometimes, they're not quite as safe as you'd like.

Team Three

Some locations, rather than being used for the storage for which they were intended, have been repurposed by sapients who have developed within the system since the depot was created. Short, furred people with clever, webbed hands and high voices, they've turned crates and ships into cramped, partially-submerged warrens. This team is cleared to assess the damage done, and, if the current official owners of the stores will agree, process the change in ownership to the Su Samuru. Not all owners are happy with their squatters, however...

1. Culinary Containment

[With the frogs wandering loose on the train, it's all hands on deck in trying to contain them to one car. Ryou is currenty halfway under a table in Standard, reaching for a stray frog hiding underneath.]

Almost...got you! [Triumphant, he emerges from under the table, frog securely in his hands.] Let's get you back where you should be.

2. Repo Train, Team One

[While Ryou is being cautious with the stuff being found, aware that not all of it is safe, he's still Ryou Bakura at the end of the day. And what that means is that when he ends up with an unlabeled mystery crate that needs opening, he's willing to take the risk of getting it opened.]

Hey, want to help me open this one? [At least he's getting backup on this instead of just trying to open it himself, since there's no clue on what's inside.]

3. Obligatory YGO Prompt

[Look, Ryou's a Yu-Gi-Oh character and he apparently built an occult deck back home, it should be no surprise to find him in the Games car going through the Duel Monsters cards. He doesn't seem to be trying to build a deck though, instead just seeing what's there.]

Oh, Change of Heart! [His favourite card. He's just going to set that aside for now.]

3. Obligatory YGO Prompt - Sorry for the incoming confusion.. but omg it's a Ryou!

[As soon as Silvia stepped into the gaming car and caught sight of that familiar poof of hair, she stopped suddenly in her tracks. She raised one arm defensively in front of her chest as a wave of mixed emotions started flooding through her. Had she only been a little more observant or seen this other person from the front she might have realized this was a case of mistaken identity.

It might have stopped her from what she was about to say... and prevented her from making a scene.]

I guess this means you've run out of treasure to collect elsewhere. [Though she didn't like the edge in her voice, once she got started there was no way to prevent her from finishing the thought] .. Don't be under any delusions that you can pick up where you left off. I'm not going to fall for any of your flirtatious insinuations this time. [... In a few moments, Silvia was going to feel like a colossal idiot]

[Ryou looks up in confusion in response to Silvia's voice, mouth opening to explain that no, she's got the wrong guy-

-and then she mentions flirtations and he splutters for a bit before managing to pull together a response.]

No, I've never met you before! I think you have the wrong Bakura here!

[He's never flirted with anyone in his life, let alone met Silvia before!]

[By the time it becomes apparent that this is indeed the wrong guy, she's already made a fool of herself. The Bakura she had met on the train had a darker complexion, a smug demeanor, and was most definitely female. When he spoke up, her jaw dropped and her face lit up with color as she started trying to sputter out a reply to smooth things over]

Oh! Ha ha ha haaah... I was just kidding. It was a joke?

[It totally hadn't been]

It's Ryou Bakura, right? from Domino High?

[The person she had originally thought was the female Bakura's brother...]

You know- just something to break through those awkward introductions! Since.. er.. you're probably not from the same dimension as me. [No one else had shown up from her version of Domino before so it stood to reason that the trend would continue. Under his gaze the guilt got to her and she fessed up easily] Ok, I might have confused you with someone else. Thief King Bakura... as she so called herself, but it's ok. She's been gone a long time now.

Uh, yeah...

[This is awkward for him too, though more along the lines of that not being very funny. Thankfully he gets the real explanation, though that just takes it from awkward to alarming.]

The Thief King was here? [While he might not have been able to be with his friends in the Shadow RPG, having been told he couldn't help and then possessed, he was told what happened after the fact so he knows who Thief King Bakura is. (Admittedly, he'd been told that Thief King Bakura was a guy, but that's the least of his worries here.)] I guess if she's gone it's fine, but what was she doing here?

2 - Repo Train

I'm not sure if opening it will be the best idea or not...

[Look Yugi is looking at this from a very video game mindset. It's unlabelled so who knows what is within. Could be good, could be bad he didn't know. Still nervous regardless.]

Like how are we to know it's not bad.

True, but don't they have to be opened at some point? [He's seen the mission info, he knows that the stuff they're taking has to be catalogued at some point.]

Besides, whatever's in there isn't alive, so maybe if we're careful we'll be fine?

[Not that Ryou has any room to talk, given his track record with dangerous artifacts.]

They do, I guess. [It may not be alive, but you still can never be sure that it's still not something bad either. At least one can be cautious about this either way.]

How about we open it together, might be a good idea.

[ Fortunately it didn't take long at platform to determine that Ryou was in fact himself and not the thief king. No ring in sight. Phew. Kaiba's still not sure how to really introduce himself, but...

...well, this is happening. He's carting a bucket around and gathering frogs. He spots one in Ryou's hand and stops, offering the bucket. ]

Food prep isn't usually this unpleasant, the train's outdone itself.

[Ryou doesn't know what to make of Seto, given his previous interactions with him weren't exactly friendly. Still, he drops the frog in the bucket, letting it land at the bottom with a plop.]

What does the train usually give us? [At least this isn't normal, but why live frogs?]

Let's see...in the last few months we've had teddybear lunchmeat, yadon tail, octopus....it's gotten progressively weirder.

We'll probably have to eat crickets next month.

[Okay first of all what's a yadon tail? Second of all...]

That's quite a variety. What happens if someone can't eat the food?

[A sideeye is given to the frog bucket. He can only guess how many people might be willing to try and prepare the live frogs, let alone eat them.]

We're working on that. We pool points to order other food, and we're voting to allow alternatives for the monthly ingredient. But that won't take effect until next month.

[ He gently sets the frog bucket down...hopefully they can't escape here. ]

If you're hungry, there are other things we can cook. Certain staples are in the pantry every month, but they're limited.

Well that's a relief at least. [To know that there either are or will be alternatives to the frogs.]

I'm not hungry right now- [His day so far will do that] -but I'll have to look later, when we're not dealing with frogs.

[What a way to be introduced to Train Life, though.]

That's wise. These aren't conducive to appetites.

[ Seto takes a deep breath and steps back. ]

Are you settling in so far, other than that?

[ He doesn't want to jump straight to 'please tell me you don't have the ring' but it's on his mind a little. ]

I'm, uh, settling in okay. [No he's not, he'd had a nasty confrontation with Aigami and Manni right before winding up on platform, is still somewhat convinced that this is where he'd been sent, and isn't sure how much he wants to talk about what just happened to Seto Kaiba of all people.]

...Can I ask what happened to you before you got here? [Don't mind him, he's just trying to confirm his theory of how he got here.]
