"It is not your fault that we were taken from our homes, and I thank you for your kindness. I appreciate it more than I can express." She directs a shaky smile up at the man and placed her cane across her lap.

"If you do not mind, I believe I just need a few moments of rest before I regain my feet and I would not mind help up onto the train." She taps her fingers against the cane to draw attention to it before continuing, "I'm afraid I'm not as nimble as I used to be."
