IC Month

This month is the month of Orchestra. Days can be found here.

The thought of the month is "Don't be afraid to take big steps. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps".

This means: Any thread that reaches 15 comments (total) will earn you two points..

Threads that fulfil this criteria can be submitted during December AC. You may find it easier to keep a tracking list of threads for easy compiling of bonus AC.

The ingredient of the month is Octopus. Recipes are here. All the ingredients can be found in the storeroom, refreshed at the platform, and characters are welcome to make other food with them.

This month’s chore assignments are:

Red: Cleaning bedrooms and passenger areas

Blue: Laundry
Purple: Cleaning kitchen and bathrooms

The Train

As a reminder, you can list things that characters have added to the train here. Just comment under the header of the carriage to which you are adding. There is also a handy spreadsheet here!

When passengers return after the platform they will find that Sleeper Carriage 4 has been removed. Anyone who was in Sleeper Carriage 4 will their things have been moved to their new room. Please check out the Sleeper Cabin page for their new assignments. No roommates have been split.

Important Dates

The results of the poll are in. This month’s event will be an on train event on the 13th and 14th of November.

The TDM will be posted on the 17th. Reserves will open on the 19th. Apps and AC are between the 22nd and the 29th.

About them: Former brainwashed amnesiac assassin for HYDRA, who died after the split-second decision not to actually kill Steve Rogers and then spent a year and a half in a dead world where they slowly learned how to Person again. Soul/life force/whatever is in a lantern that they carry around all the time, which I sometimes forget to mention in narration, but it is Always There. They're on Purple team, but always swap for somebody on the kitchen chores so they can cook instead (anybody on Orange feel like swapping?), and often do missions with Red team.

Plans: I AM BACK BABY. I took October off to indulge a "must read all the things" phase but I am lobbing Soldat back at everyone on the platform post tomorrow. My plans so far mostly involve catching up with all their friends who were worried they wouldn't come back, and finding out about the metaplot stuff that happened while I was off reading all the things instead of writing.

CR wanted: All the things? Soldat is good for teaching people self-defense, teaching people cooking, teaching people origami, teaching people dancing... They need somebody to poke a little at their personhood issues (or I not I guess, they're pretty comfortable with their "not really a person but that's okay, can still live a fulfilling life and help people" belief) and could always stand a friend.

Things to avoid: If you tell Soldat you have the power to control minds or take away memories and that you're willing and ready to use it, and there hasn't been a solid amount of CR built up first, Soldat will drop you. No questions asked. That's pretty much the only no-go there I think.

Yondu let Aziraphale know Soldat went missing and Aziraphale found himself kind of sad about that. Considering Aziraphale's perspective on time and individual people is a bit different from most mortal beings, this was still a bit of a surprise and he definitely will want to see Soldat again!! They're already friends but maybe this is a good chance to get them to finally know each other even better :)

About them: Cabin U1B (Conan Edogawa & K'zeka Tia)
Pre-train: Former space pirate biker redneck who was an adopted father to an unaware demigod. Spent his entire childhood as a slave to the Kree Empire and wasn't freed until he was an adult. Also feels guilty for some child murder that happened after he brought some kids to their horrible planet father (he didn't know what his plans were). Both make him super defensive of the kids on the train and he wants to buy every second he can for them.

Current: He's been working for a while now on preparing for the Ministry to show up and the last event made him realize not only that his fears were true, but they were worse than he imagined. Other than the basic research he's done out of paranoia that they'll be stopped more permanently. He's admitted to Siebren he had a crush on him a while back and has been sulking over missing Soldat.
Plans: I don't have many. He shared all his collected info with Murderbot (all of which is available in the library) and he'll continue trying to find ways to break powers loose or get past 392 architecture obstacles.

Still might possibly be getting a Celebi from Eva and is trying to find out more about voidcraft. Might be asking someone technically minded that he trusts for help augmenting his arrow. Might enchant his coat with more stuff.
CR wanted: He'll talk to about anybody so if it takes it takes. If it doesn't it doesn't. Just throw it at him.
Things to avoid: No permabreaking his arrow or extended mind control. He's a very private person.

Character: Alvin Murphy
About them: Cabin L4:D (Terris & Danielle & Senju)
Pre-Train: The Savior of the Human Race and the Zombie Messiah of his world, jailed for mail fraud and ended up experimented on. He can now mind-control zombies and people that he infects and has some psychic juju. He's also immune to any bacteria or virus he comes across and evolves after expelling it from his system.

Current: He's not doing very much and it's hard to drive him to do anything. He'll happily interject with his opinions and occasionally shit-stir and sparsely get quietly emotional about stuff, though those emotional moments have to be earned. He's been a little more distant and lonely since losing Ghost but he will never admit that.
Plans: I've wanted recently is a frantic blood clean-up after an accident and him not letting any humans near it. He's also needing to talk to Ryo about his Diagad powers making him put off zombie vibes.

CR wanted: Flirting, Snarking, maybe some psychic talk.
Things to avoid: He doesn't like seeing people be singled out for being dangerous. Even if they are, don't just throw threats.

About them: The deuteragonist of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Former president of an alternate United States and Chief Consul to King Evan of Evermore. An all-around responsible dude who either knows a lot about everything or just wings it without anyone noticing. Most likely person to make a Face (see above) if things are being silly. (It’s harmless, don’t worry.)

Plans: Slowly getting my feet wet again after going through a lot of personal and family issues during the first half of 2021. Nothing too concrete right now in terms of plan, but I am pretty flexible/agreeable to most things.

Things to avoid: (Player) Kindly avoid any mentions of ED's, unhealthy weight dynamics whether thru gain or loss, and vomitus. For Roland’s, this is more comprehensive. Thanks!

Plans: Greeting the new reds (that aren't my own...) is his first priority on platform day. Other than that, I don't have anything planned.

About them: Phenomenal, terrifying, world-and-galaxy-destroying power, very small package. Freeza is a CRAU transplant from another interdimensional ship, though that one had a harder focus on reformation, a deal he made to get out of Hell early. He tends to be rather subdued, very focus on doing his work and training well and to the letter, and better than you. Also he seems to be allergic to fun.
Plans: Continue to build him more CR, is mostly my current plan.
CR wanted: Any. Positive or negative though he has warned that the limits of him not using his powers on anyone is 1) We're working together and this is a job, but also more importantly 2) If you cross the line, you brought it on yourself. He will not tolerate a direct threat. He will also not...not tolerate any attempts to get to know him better or to participate in the more mundane goings on aboard the train. But he will complain the whole time.

Plans: He developed a new power last month, so practicing to get that under control. Trying to avoid thinking about certain realizations that his kidnapping gave him, specifically that while he knows he has to go home, hes not so sure if he wants to go home.
CR wanted: Fellow teenagers, new friends, people to make dumb jokes with, people to practice fighting with, other supernatural characters. I would really like to get him to building some more adult mentor CR, although he does have some trust issues there (thanks Vlad).

About them: From Brooklyn Nine Nine. A self-styled amazing detective/genius, Jake's genuinely good at detective work, but he's also rather goofy and immature for his age (36 going on 12). He's finally started to act serious after last month's interrogation.
Plans: Basically...keep forging bonds with people. Maybe get some fight training in so he isn't so useless. Still can't afford a gun.
CR wanted: People to call him on his nonsense, people to joke with, training buddies....maybe he'll even mature enough to adopt some kids?
Things to avoid: Nothing comes to mind!

Character: Seto Kaiba (blue_ice)
About them: From Yu-Gi-Oh. Kaiba's a former gaming tech billionaire and cutthroat card duelist, but on the train he's settled into Team Tech Support. It doesn't pay. But it's not bad.
Plans: Now that his personal life's sorted, back to work! He's working on universal translators as a backup in case they're separated from the train's system again, thanks to Yondu. He's also going to realize he can still generate lightning and will need a bit of help training.
CR wanted: Anyone! I'm going to turn an eye toward rekindling older bonds...things are getting serious.
Things to avoid: Just romance, he's happily married thanks.

Character: Aziraphale (Good Omens)

About them:
Aziraphale is a an angel, formerly the Guardian of the Eastern Gate of Eden, and main agent of Heaven on Earth meant to help guide the human souls towards "Good". While part of his job was to prepare for Armaggedon, he loved Earth, Humanity and all its cozy amenities far too much to let it get destroyed. He's been friends with Crowley, a demon, ever since the beginning, and eventually the two made an Arrangement to help each other out with their assignments. When Armaggedon actually came about, they tried to stop it - they didn't really do much, but were glad to see when the world didn't end.

After the canon story, Aziraphale and Crowley ended up in a different world (a different DWRP game - LifeAfter), where they found themselves mostly powerless and suffered through a lot of rough events, including the near end of THAT world - before they found themselves on the Voidtrecker Express.

Since then, they've mostly avoided missions and have been making things work inside the train. Aziraphale, for one, is often seen in the library and the kitchen, although he tends to disappear into his room for a lot of the time. He's been making plenty of friends and pleasant acquaintances in the train and is curious to learn more about the Void and the train, but mostly avoids missions because they're "a bit too much trouble".

Plans:
I don't have a lot of specific plans, but I would like him to know more of his fellow passengers.

He's set up a writing station in the top floor of the library for anyone who wants to write something to add to the library itself, plus he offers book binding services (for free) to anyone who asks.

I'd like to get him back into learning about the Void and the Voidtrain, and if someone would call him out for not helping out more, I think it'd be interesting.

Otherwise, I just?? Want more CR, really!

Things to avoid: I'm cool with most stuff? I mean, he's not gonna get romantically involved with anyone else (which does not mean your character can't try), but otherwise I'm good for anything.

About them: Sixteen years old, with CRAU from the Wake. He's lived through Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, plenty of fun trauma in his background. His adoptive father Clef is on the train, and Shadow Link has been claimed as his brother/great-great-something-grandson.

With his Wake CRAU he can do some magic called "Bending" (create things with willpower) and can change his form into that of a golden wolf.

Recently he's been under the radar as he works through some familial issues with his adoptive father. But, that being said, he gets along well with most people, and has a burning desire to help everyone, even at his own expense.

Plans: Resolve his family drama, and make new friends.

CR wanted: Any! He'd love new friends and he'd love to introduce more people to Shadow.

About them: A computer-constructed copy of a ditzy magical girl who has bounced from one world to another over the years, helping others in saving them and meeting new people along the way.

Plans: Well, big plan is that she's having her first date with Kairi when the train makes its next stop, so she'll be enjoying that, but with metaplot kicking up, she'll be wanting to get in on all of that.

Character: Usagi Tsukino (AU) - Purple Team
About them: A variation of the 90s anime Usagi where only she and Minako were able to awaken to battle the Dark Kingdom. While she still has a big heart, she tends to be a loner. She's also a builder of anything magical, so...!

Plans: She's still upset at what happened at that station to her friends, so she has major distrust towards the Ministry now. What probably means she's going to disappear into the labs again, even though she has one real shining beacon in her life now. Also, she's going to love and dote on Blue Team-Kyoko now that they're a thing. When they're not sparring or snacking.

Things to avoid: No romance here, either. She's spoken for, too!


Character: Ruby Rose (CRAU) - Purple Team
About them: A full-fledged Huntress from Remnant who has mystical powers and is trying to save her world from an ancient evil and people who have no idea what they're doing. She just came back from a world where she can gather power to help restore that world through touch. Any touch. They prefer affectionate touch. Very affectionate touch.

Plans: Ruby is gonna try to be Little Miss Affectionate with what everything that's going on. Imagine her holding up a sign saying "Free Hugs (and anything else)!" whenever possible. Also, wanna see her train? Also, she'll probably be seen snuggled up with Razzie to help with her nightmares.

About them: A teenage Mutant with the power to phase through matter, which allows her to pass through solid objects or "float" on the air. Pretty personable and friendly, but don't push her too much because you really don't want to get on her bad side.
Plans: Nothing really. After the interrogations, she's a bit more worried about the Ministry, because being captured by a government-type organization is one of those things you kind of worry about as a Mutant back home, so having it happen here was not great. But she's doing okay for the most part thanks to friends, so she's just going to focus on helping around the train

About them: From Hades, Red Team, Death Incarnate who is actually a nice guy (but also tsundere and emotionally confused) but is still learning how to be his own person instead of just his job as God of Gentle Death and more. (Having a bit of an identity crisis in the meantime…)

He's been here since the start of Jelly and carries around a plush mouse (Mort) who squeaks and wants to FITE is slowly coming to life from the life powers Than hasn't fully caught onto. Than can often be found in the quiet car, giving himself a break from feeling ill and overwhelmed by all the sensations he feels on the surface (vs the Underworld). He'll also be found in the greenhouse car, enjoying the green life there.

Plans: Still being nice to Than this month. Hopefully, he will learn how to have a hobby (gardening, string related crafts, learning the lyre, and reading), chill (lol), do more with his life powers. Mood willing, I want Thanatos to make a network post asking others about their afterlives, death deities, and life deities. Things aren't good back home, and he needs figure out something... besides assuming that all mortal life back home will die upon his return because there's no way anything has been sustainable on a famished winter world that lacked Death for five months.

CR wanted: Open to a lot of CR ideas. He's one of the point people and healers for the Red Team. He also helps out with Red inventory things.

Things to avoid: Do not try to restrain him, especially by grabbing his wrists or shoving him into a small space. Thanks, Sisyphus. You took a perfectly good death godling, gave him a month shackled in a box, and now he has trauma and a lot of insecurities. (He's a little unnerved at the shrinking train tbh)

Other: Than also has a permissions post for characters who have connections to death (though more for potential thread/CR ideas as Than has given up trying to understand this train) and also for Hades game spoilers if that's something you're worried about. He's taken from after the 1st win, all nectar given, favor completed, but no ambrosia.

Before Train:
A young woman who just wanted to go out of her tower and see some lights. Can do many different things and over all was kinda shy and lacking in things like confidence and belief in herself to be able to go outside.

During Train: She has now grown into a more confident woman who is really handy with a frying pan and understands the world both good and bad and knows that while it can be shitting it's still got good things in it. She also understands that her situation wasn't great, but still keeps her positive side to herself.
Plans:
She will be announcing a thing that she and Curufin have been planning. It's basically a remembrance thing where people can paint something to remember previous travellers. So she will inform people they can add to it or if someone isn't confident in drawing or painting what they would want her or another to paint.
CR wanted: Any and all.

About them: Human Replica Droid who once was programmed for evil - and still has the skills to back it up - but has since charted her own course. Very curious, up front and still learning what 'human' means in various ways.
Plans: I'd like to keep building on what she's been doing. She's been making deeper friendships, I'd love to keep building on that - she's taken her knocks, it's time to see what she learns from them. She does view a lot of the voidtrekers as having a lot more positive view of human nature than is actually real, which will be interesting to play with.
CR wanted: Friendship, romance, the works. Seriously, silly - it all is grist to the mill.
Things to avoid: Nothing so far. I am very flexible and enjoy everything from silliness to high drama.



Character: General Amaya
About them: General and Aunt, not necessarily in that order. Born deaf, communicates via sign. Big fan of breakfasts, good people, and family.
Plans: I'd like some? She's settling in but I'd really like to deepen things in general. I consider the next month or two kind of make-or-break for continuing to play her on here. Everyone has been wonderful, I'd just like things to 'stick'.
CR wanted: Any and all. Would not be averse to shipping, Amaya is canonically just into the ladies, however.
Things to avoid: Attempts to get around her deafness? She's not a fan of invasive things of that nature, nor does she consider her deafness something that needs 'fixing.'

Also, Than's brother Charon communicates purely through groans. I like to think that they communicate through some kind of sign language or just Than understanding his communication because it's a god thing. He may not understand why Charon does certain things, but Thanatos does understand his big bro. Their work crosses after all.

It wouldn't be Than getting around or fixing her deafness exactly. He would just somehow understand. Is that something you'd be interested in?

About them: Taiki is a kirin from a fantasy world but he mostly grew up on a modern day earth. He is incredibly traumatised but mostly hides it behind a bunch of walls. Once you push through his outer shell he is warm and friendly. He cannot fight or be around blood but tries to help in other ways.
Plans: No huge plans. I always go with the flow. Anyone who is trying to figure out shapeshifting powers he will help you! I would like to find more chances to play him in more Serious Business mode.
CR wanted: All the people.
Things to avoid: Just give me a heads up if your character has reason to smell of blood

About them: Excels in intelligence & information gathering, master innovator, tracker & sensor. Observant, alert, calm (until you piss him off), blunt, logical, rational. Private. Knows war like he knows how to breathe. Can be a bit old-school / traditional but has been learning. Dedicated and loyal to the bitter end. Has some unorthodox habits also known as "does what is necessary". Has died three times now so he's basically 60 going on 200 or whatever the timeline is shrugs in Naruto. While Madara and his brother Hashirama were credited as founder for the village, Tobirama founded its infrastructure, rules, laws, systems, etc. Is a leader but tends to lead from the shadows (and has since returned to leading the ANBU in modern times). He is known to many as Nidaime or Lord Second but those who aren't from his world are more likely to have him introduce himself as simply Senju.

Plans: Tobirama's immediate goal is to know as much as possible about everything he possibly can. Truly, he'll spend every waking hour with this and then documenting his findings if its important. Read everything, listen to everyone. Know where they are, why they are, who is here, what they can do. What's been going on and what IS going on. All that. But you know, discretely. Ninja Spy. As far as any slice-of-life hobbies, he enjoys strategy games and woodcarving. Likes reading, good discussions, a good drink. (and is likely to use these things to learn about people and things anyway >_>)

CR wanted: Anything, really. Just gathering people who are like-minded. Knowing him, joining or creating a similar sort of group or people. Information networks, etc.

Things to avoid: Because the train is contained I'd like to avoid large amounts of physical conflict ON the train (outside is a different matter). Physical affection takes a while and is good to avoid lest you desire an unfriendly backlash. No touchy, ty.

Character: Siebren de Kuiper (Sigma)
About them: From Overwatch, Orange team, sleeper cabin U3:A. An astrophysicist who had an accidental close encounter with a black hole, gained gravity powers, and lost his mind. He was then picked up by a terrorist organization to be their shield tank, and look, life before the train has been tough on gravity grandpa. That said, he's intelligent and kind and perpetually interested in learning and lending a helping hand to other people's projects. He's also protective of his teammates, especially in dangerous situations. Since his arrival on the train, he's become more aware of his circumstances back home and the implications thereof, and he's also settled in to train life fairly well, made friends, and adopted a son.

Plans: Siebren needs a project! He's learning magic from Vexen and meditation from Koumyou, but he's definitely up for helping with others' projects, science-based or no. He's interested and he's friendly; loop him in to your shenanigans (especially if you need an extra brain cell or a responsible adult). He's also up for helping with Diagad powers or working on his own; he got power modulation, which is very much a teamwork sort of power.

CR wanted: Anything! Fellow responsible adults, scientists, people to help, people to snark at and be snarked at in turn, the whole nine yards. Variety is the spice of life.

Things to avoid: I'm trying not to break him, because that's no fun for anybody - if a thread starts looking like it's going in that direction, I may ask for a change. Aside from that, nothing!

Character: Ryo
About them: OC, Orange team, sleeper L2:B. Teenage mage and healer who's had a rough life and has only recently gained some self-esteem and started building that backbone. (His world took a perfectly good healer and gave him a tragic backstory and now he has anxiety.) Compassionate and caring with a buried temper. Good at helping; bad at asking for what he needs in turn. Please hug him.

Plans: He's finally put two and two together well enough to realize he's probably still got his Diagad powers, and he's going to be reaching out to people with connections to death to help him figure it out (even though - or especially though - the idea of having death powers scares the hell out of him). Aside from that, he's mostly just doing his best to keep himself - and everyone else - on an even keel, with varying levels of success.

CR wanted: Anything and everything! Parent him, be his friend or adoptive sibling, let him help you or heal you, teach him and be taught in turn, the works. Help him with his weird new powers, and he'll help you with yours. (He'll definitely be keeping an eye out for new healers to help them out.) A warning, though: if CR starts out negative, it might not recover; he holds a grudge.

Things to avoid: ICly, nothing; OOCly, just don't go linking me pictures of spiders.

Character: Esteban Drake
About them: Esteban is humanoid, but clearly not entirely human. Most people would recognize him for being at least a half-elf. He's very cheerful and upbeat though, and his adaptability is through the roof.

Plans: Newbie! He'll be arriving tomorrow! Right now he's just absolutely not sure what just happened, but he'll get on the train willingly enough.

He might need a bit of scolding at first because he does have the tendency to give nicknames to everyone he meets, but he'll take to the scolding well enough and try his best not to from then on. (I also need to re-find the pamphlet, because I'm pretty sure there was a note about consent, but Esteban might be obtuse enough to miss part of it.)

Personally, I just started on DWRP, so this month is just familiarization / making sure I know what I'm doing (and doing it right). If I mess up somewhere, please let me know and I'll try to learn from it!

CR wanted: Anything really. Esteban will poke about and search for things on his own, so he'll probably come and say "hi" in a lot of open threads.
