As the mission moves onto ongoing, there is more for characters to do beyond first meetings. The sali, asking for help, have jobs that hopefully will cover many of the Voidtreckers and what they can do.

For those who go to the East Village (Nossofh), there is working with crystals, and learning their technology - to a degree.

GEM TECHNOLOGY - HOW DOES IT WORK?

TL;DR: The sali implant a stone that lets them control the properties of other stones. They also can manipulate the code of these stones.

The longer version: All gem technology runs off a trigger, which is usually the clear crystal seen around the East Island. It's not as easy as just taking one of these, taking a fire gem, and sitting them together - nothing will happen. There needs to be a will that does this.

This is where the crystals the sali wear come in.

These are essentially the same type of crystal as the ones in the plains, though the sali have their own special resource for the ones they implant onto their bodies. By doing this, they eventually learn some level of control to activate most crystals with that are set up to help with everyday life.

But even this is tricky, and sometimes, you still need an extra trigger to set something off. Sometimes, you want that fire gem to do a specific job.

This is where the Forever Ones come in.

While not everyone who does this becomes a Forever One, they are the people who become greatly skilled in reading energies, and manipulating them. They implant gems on their bodies that help them with this task, and help to manipulate and rework gems into doing the job they've been asked to.

Want an air gem to turn into a bubble that you can use to dive underwater with? Done.
Want a fire gem to keep your body at a warm temperature for a snow trip? Can do.
Want a gem to crush up into the soil that will help the growth of plants? Coming right up.

Every Forever One has specialities, but they're considered the best of the best. In return for being so skilled at reading energies however, their bodies turn into stone, trapping them in this state forever.

This is no good for the Voidtreckers! However, the Sages' House (where the energy weaving happens) and the Gem Smithies (where the tool designing) will both be working together - hopefully with the Voidtreckers help! - to find a way where they can use some custom weapons, for the plan they have.

WHAT ARE WE MAKING?

The salis want to basically make air blowers and megaphones that shoot out air when used.

The Red Storm's shroud is more dangerous for them than Voidtreckers, so they want to blow it away, and then down the birds. The Forever Ones will attempt to give support from afar in controlling the winds from afar and throwing the avians to ground level, but distance + the effects the red storm has on their own consciousness will make it difficult.

However! The sali are open to hearing what ideas the Voidtreckers have, and invite them to come help. This can be handwaved, you just making toplevels saying your character is involved. Or, if you have ideas/thoughts, you can come to us and leave them below!

If any characters would want to suggest anything to the sali, related to the both or otherwise, still tell us!

HOW ARE THE SALI GOING TO FIX AN AIRSHIP TORN IN HALF?

Metal wood manipulators are very good at their job. The bigger pain is putting the two halves near one another again and moving supplies to the location to get to work.

AH MY APOLOGIES.

Since Wei Wuxian made the comms post my brain took a shortcut but basically, the Lan clan focuses on cultivation / magic effects through music, so support through music would be very much something they would try, with the information available. He has a xiao (vertical flute) and a guqin (seven-stringed zither) which can be offered for crystal embedding, or he can reasonably quickly learn to play a locally made instrument, in order to assist those who have the power, skill, and knowledge to make a difference.

This kind of support is what I meant by 'would this be affected' - the additional effect of confusion I'm assuming is based on the resentful energy, while the Lans tend to have and use the opposite, life-affirming variety, normally.

Okay, if I understand correctly! Everyone will be able to use their powers to a degree (about half strength), so the Untamed will be able to use music!

If someone thinks out a Forever One (especially those who did take a crystal!), they will be able to give them a momentary bump in power/be able to defend them. But of course, they may sometimes be distracted already - they're doing a lot of jobs at once.

Enshala will be able to provide a similar help too, but she's going to be a lot more busy since she's working solo (whereas Hemla and Shrinlo will be pairing up to go West with everyone).

Edit: The sali would be better at modifying flute-type weapons!
