Powers-related: what about non-magical "powers" like, for example, science experiment serums? Are those affected as well?

NPC-related: are there salis on the West island as well, or have they all evacuated from the birds?

Animal-related: can the cats or birds on the west island be lured away from trouble spots or bribed with food and non-threatening behaviors? Or are they specifically focused on intruders rather than merely hunting/scavenging? (Also, are they edible if killed?)
