Test Drive Meme 025
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun.
Happy testing!
Crisis on... A beach
The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.
Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.
Just another day at the beach. Until it isn't. Lost children, stranded surfers and sea life attacks. Help direct life guards, reunite families and clear the dangerous parts of the beach all while working together.
Hygroscaping
The garden carriage is usually a serene space, pebbled stretches and paved paths leading in meandering paths around a central fountain, glass arching overhead. Usually. Today, the fountain and its artfully-sculpted streams have been the target of some passenger project or another. Water has been gushing out since the morning alarm. Within an hour, the carriage is flooded.
Oh, there have been some attempts at fixing it over the day. Eventually gunk blocks most of the pipes; barriers keep the water away from the doors on either end of the room; even the few plants in the carriage are surrounded by bubbles of air or sealed tubs... But unavoidably, the garden carriage is now a glorified fish tank. All it needs is some aquatic inhabitants.
A Lost Heir
The world of Bire was once a paradise of innovation and invention; the three Bastions worked together to build a perfect society atop machinery and military might. Then the Second Bastion fell. As the Voidtrecker Express arrives on Bire, the First and Third Bastions have long blamed each other, caught in a cold war with the ferocity of two starving wolves standing over a carcass. The Second Bastion is a wasteland, spotted by mercenary companies and refugee settlements.
Amidst all this, the Second's heir rises, but they need your help.Team One
The heir of the Second Bastion is the only being with the genetic signature needed to open the great vaults of the territory, and without the contents of those vaults, their people stand no chance of recovering. Seed banks, rare materials, wealth... and the loyal armies bred in the Second Bastion's deep gene wells, slumbering for centuries. The team are tasked with first finding the heir amongst the refugees, and then guiding them into the first of the vaults.Team Two
The spiked, bloodied airships of the mercenaries roam the wastes, hunting for prey. Once the proud regiments of the Second Bastion, they were driven mad by the great catastrophe that marked the fall of their territory and now slaughter their own people in an undying rage. No cure for the rage is known - the only solution if an airship reaches you is to fight for your life. This team's focus is to protect the other teams and the refugees both from the marauders. The First Bastion has donated some skirmish ships to the cause, though they aren't in the best repair...Team Three
If the Second Bastion is to recover - and for the good of Bire, it must - then her sister Bastions must put aside their animosity. It won't be easy. The cause for the catastrophe is unknown... supposedly. This team is split into two groups, one sent to each Bastion, and their role is to gather information. And, with or without that information, to broker peace between the Bastions. The First is a sweeping territory of white curves and natural groves, with a love of music and singing. Their holographic software is unrivalled. The Third is a sturdy place of towering buildings and flooded streets. Most of the territory is underwater, but that doesn't stop the grind of industry.
Mordin Solus | Mass Effect
Mordin looks the garden carriage over and assesses the contents. "Current specimens ill adapted to conditions."
They could replant everything. But it's probably better to find something to do for water situation. Unless they really want to take up hydroponics.
Team One
By all reports, the vaults contain most everything a terraformer might dream of in this situation. The train doesn't have the resources to make up for that.
And this many refugees need something. But also provide a particular challenge. "Would be simpler with genetic analysis tools. Simple cheek swabs."
Team Three
Information. They don't have nearly enough of that. It's impossible to come to the correct conclusion with the tiny amount of data they have available.
"Music useful reason to be here. Could be even more useful. Good way to build solidarity." The arts are a way that many species manage to connect, and these aren't even people from different worlds.

Raptor looks at the... She's not sure what planet he's from but honestly, does it matter? He sounds sciency, hopefully not in the horribly unethical universe domineering way.
"Do you need someone to go in there and check the pipes? If you can find some repair gear I was designed not to need to breathe."
no subject
Or maybe they'll just have a water car. That's an option, right?

No Raptor. That is not it. That is not it at all.
