1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!
3. Have much fun!
Happy testing!
Crisis On… A Zoo!
The train has recently gained a game carriage and the VR video games are proving popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.
Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.
Ready? Your team is at a zoo where someone is sabotaging things. Animals keep escaping from their cages and you have to figure out ways to lure them back and make the pens secure. All that whilst finding and solving clues to find the culprit before the lions escape and it’s game over!
Dressing Up
Your upcoming mission involves infiltrating a courtly function so combat trousers and hoodies will not do! Fear not though, the dressing room provides.
Ball gowns, fancy suits, wigs, splendid capes. These are perhaps not the most historically accurate costumes but let’s hope no one notices the stitch is slightly wrong!
Be as fancy as you wish or try and keep it subtle, you are meant to be infiltrating after all. Help figure out fastenings. There are even some instructions for fancy hairstyles if you want to go all out!
Courtly Chaos
Someone is trying to assassinate a king at the biggest event in the kingdom. Your job, voidtreckers, is to stop this from happening. You are at court, there is a party. Food and wine are plentiful but you have a job to do.
Team One
Someone knows something. Investigate, question, follow suspicious characters. Be subtle but try and make contacts and foil this plot before it comes to fruition.
Team Two
Can the knights even be trusted? The king needs to be protected whatever the cost. Stay close. Try not to be too obvious. Watch for threats and try not to attack any innocent courtiers who approach the king!
Team Three
Almost as important as protecting the king is protecting his reputation. The show must go on, the courtiers must not know the king is in danger. It would cause panic, distrust, could rip the court apart.
Your job is distraction, keep the party goers’ attentions so they do not notice the work of the other teams!

I'm sorry. Wait. Just.... did you tell Najaran that there is a huge party, with a ton of food... and her job... her actual TASK is to be distracting?
You might have wanted to make sure she heard anything other than the words distraction and food. Too late now, of course, but good to know for the future. Najaran got herself all dressed up like one of the guests, to act like one of them. She missed Gooligan, but then... he would have seen what she was planning and would have stopped her. So maybe she didn't miss him THAT much....
Her one item from home was her set of Cards, and she built her book perfectly for the party. She was trying to be good, she lanaged a whole ten minutes before she couldn't wait for the signal any longer and descended upon the food table. She was gobbling, and rudely enough that she was being somewhat distracting. Mostly though people were wondering how someone so small could pack away so much so quickly. Though she did eventually realize she was meant to be a DISTRACTION. She reached behind her and grabbed a number of cards. "Come on out, everyone!" She tossed the cards in the air and a number of odd creatures came out of them like they were pokeballs - though the cards seemed to vanish rather than coming back to her hand empty. There were two Eidolon, one Gremlin, and of course an upright bipedal cat in a red cloak. The odd group landed on the table to join in the rather messy feast. She would have loved to feed Knight, Gargoyle, and Thunderbeak, but... they were a little large for this place. They were also, sadly, a little (a LOT) large for the train. She'd have to take them out after for some fun.
But Najaran for the moment has now fully forgotten there was a plan and is happily eating with her friends. While on the one hand this is a good way to see what Knights are loyal and which are allowing this chaos... on the other hand, someone might want to save her before she's arrested. You know. Again.
On the train - Laundry duty
No one cares who does which chores, so long as they all get done, right? Right! So Najaran is kicked back at a table, eating some yummy cake she found in the dining car - hope that didn't belong to anyone? - while her Eidolon were doing the washing and her Gremlin was running deliveries, and poor Knight was all hunched over, folding. But hey, it beat peeling po-ta-toes? Right?

Sorry about the late reply, been sick.
Kenshin Himura | Rurouni Kenshin
Kenshin really really hates rounding up animals. But that's what he's been asked to do, and he can see why, but...the teenager with a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek grumbles wordlessly to himself even as he scrambles around to work with people who are still strangers in rounding the creatures up. He gets a bit too close to one with horns and leaps away with a sharp breath of alarm.
"Hey!" He calls down to his current partner. "I thought I told you to secure that pen!"
This little rural former farmboy might be getting too involved in the game. Help?
Dressing Up
The boy (because he really does look 12, maybe 13 instead of his 16 years) is standing with a very strange (to him) outfit held up and a grimace of confusion clear. "Maybe...just like the strange clothes I've been wearing?" He mutters to himself, trying to ignore the flutter of nerves.
Stupid, this isn't really a battle, right? Except, it kind of is. Another undercover-type deal. He squares his shoulders, lips turning just a bit further down, shying from the immediate connection to Her. He shakes himself and sets to struggling into the clothes.
Someone should really help him with his long red hair...

Elros Tar-Minyatur | Tolkien's Silmarillion
"Ugh, I thought I'd left the formal court robes behind in Armenolos!" He looks like an elf - but not quite. There's something a little off. A little more solidly built, perhaps. A bit less... glow-y. (Perhaps it's the faintest hint of grey in his hair, or the suggestion of laugh-lines in the corner of his eyes). But he seems very used to the clothing, rifling quickly and efficiently through the racks of clothes to find things that fit.
"Hm. What do you think of this overrobe - too much with the crown? I can always leave the crown behind... "
He'd prefer to, really.
Courtly Chaos - Two
He moves through the chaos as if born to it (because he is, in many ways, trained in youth and young adulthood in both the old formal Noldorin court manners, as well as the more fluid Sindarin ones), smiling and charming, but with a soldier's gait and gaze, asessing. He dances with the ladies and makes small talk with the men, and those sea-grey eyes miss absolutely nothing, despite the rakish grin on his face.
"Would the lady like a dance?" He'll offer to anyone who looks like they might be a little lonely. Or, "Could I fetch you a drink?"

It was virtual reality; which meant that her Projective Empathy might or might not work on the animals. Fortunately she had other ways of helping even if she couldn't necessarily keep the Virtual animals and people Calm.
Floating from escaped animal to escape animal, and cornering them then herding them back to their enclosures with dark-energy. Gentle, but firm--and if need be she wasn't above picking them up and bodily placing them back where they should be. Likewise she used her dark energy to reinforce the enclosures while someone else fortified it.
It was damage control, when really she'd rather be *finding* the person responsible, but it was also her first time in this type of 'game' and situation. If nothing else, it would be a good occasion to learn to work with her new 'team-mates'. Even if she kept to herself more and focused on the business at hand.
Dressing Up
Infiltration and blending in. Great. Raven sighed, as her normal cloak would likely stand out even with any of the outfits provided. Still, her plan was to stick to the shadows and outskirts of the crowds and keep her eyes and senses open. Which meant she needed to blend in enough to not stand out more than she already would with her hair, skin, and forehead-gem.
It was a fancy party right? Pawing through the various clothing options, looking for a dress that was cut simply but that could be dressed up with a scarf or accessories. One that would also allow her to move if she needed to. Raven also tried to find one that would coordinate with herself--'exotic' enough that she wouldn't look like she was wearing a costume per se, but not so much so that she'd be uncomfortable.

Barry Allen l DCTV l ota
Barry made a face as he looked over the options before him. He wasn't really one for getting all fancy pants unless he had to. CSI and hero stuff didn't lend itself to tuxedos, but needs must. So he looked over the options again and groaned out loud. "Why is this so hard," he complained to someone next to him, "it's just a suit."
Courtly Chaos: Team One
This was something Barry Allen was good at..investigating. The trick was to do it without letting anyone know what he was up to. He moved among the guests chatting with people and just generally trying to feel out who might be trouble and who might not be. It also helped that he could socially drink to fit in while at the same time staying clear headed enough to gather information. It put a lot of people off their guard.

Bruce Banner l MCU
Bruce took a deep breath and ran through every curse word he knew, which given he spoke seven languages and read another two was a lot. He wasn't much of a gamer, but he was curious about the tech used to make it so here he was facing down what looked like a very angry lion. "Are you sure having me here is a good idea," he asks his companions sounding a bit nervous.
Courtly Chaos: Team 3
Bruce stood beside the king a calm presence. He knew he didn't look like much when it came to body guards, but even the tall, thin man with the curly graying hair had his secrets. You can try and charm him away from his duty but he's not as easy as he looks so be careful.

Tomoe Himura | Rurouni Kenshin | CRAU Duplicity
Tomoe has been around enough western clothing by now to not be off put by the styles presented. In a way she is relieved to see the floor length skirts in lieu of short skirts or form fitting pants, but she doesn't seem to be having as much luck where the top of the garment is concerned. Were it a simple matter of her being shy or conservative she could have overcome it--but that wasn't quite the case. She held her left hand to her opposite shoulder where, underneath her clothing, a massive scar divided her torso running down to her navel in front and to the base of her spine in the back. The dresses all seemed to be designed to either display too much in the front or back--or in many cases both. She had yet to attempt to try anything on, not wanting to waste her time or take the chance of the scar being seen. It simply raised too many questions. Questions she had no desire to answer. It was bad enough that the black submissive mark was still present and running down her throat, but an odd tattoo was much easier to shrug off (especially since it meant nothing to anyone here) in comparison to a healed wound she couldn't have possibly survived.
Courtly Chaos Team One
Eventually Tomoe was able to find a cream and gold dress that covered everything essential. The color could have been more subtle, but it worked under the circumstances. The color practically made her skin glow. She stood out, but she knew the effect would draw people to her, like the proverbial moth to the flame. It wasn't good where trying to go unnoticed was concerned, but the simple fact was that some men became loose-lipped around beautiful women--especially those who didn't speak much. They would fill the silence and often say too much trying to impress her or draw a reaction. In other cases her silence made her seem nonthreatening and conversations that she shouldn't have overheard took place around her.
It was probably too much to hope for, but she couldn't imagine what else they could possibly expect from her. She was not a fighter.
She moves about the party quietly, hands folded in front of her, seemingly lost in her own thoughts--but in reality she was listening for anything that that might be of use before focusing on it without expressing looking.
Kitchen Duty
This she could do. This she was familiar with. Thanks to her five months in Duplicity she was already familiar enough with electric and gas powered stoves and ovens, so applying that to what was on the train was simple enough. She was mostly just glad that she was allowed to access the kitchen and prepare her own food, even if she still couldn't get her own supplies. The months of eating the Down's mystery meat were over. Just being able to see the ingredients and identify them was a blessing.
So there is a tiny, young Asian woman moving about the kitchen car like she owns it, prepping ingredients and using several pots and pans to prepare... something (

Courtly Chaos: Team Two
It is with a surly puff of smoke that Spyro assumes a post adjacent to the king's location. Like the other guests, he sports a black suit vest, tie and blazer over a freshly pressed white collared shirt. The three items become Spyro as they appear to have been tailored by some anomalous being specifically so the little dragon may blend in with the mostly bipedal crowd. A yellow dragonfly, too small for any clothing, buzzes quietly around the dragon's wings.
"We always get stuck cleaning up other people's messes," Spyro complains to the air. With a short hum, the dragonfly hovers beside Spyro's head as if to listen. "Just once I'd like to make a mess and make someone else clean it up, you know? ...Hey, that's not a bad idea." Spyro perks up with a mischievous smile. "What if we cause trouble? No one will get hurt. We'll just add a little fire to this party. Where should we start?"

Uldren Sov | Destiny
It was bad enough he didn't have any of his armor or even his hunter's mark. It was even worse he was without his (or a) gun and his hunter's knife. The fact that he got the item he did on arrival absolutely made him bristle: he could think of at least a hundred things better suited to him. Even ether sups.
Worse than all of that, however, were the clothes in the dressing room he was expected to wear. It was all absolutely unpractical. Uldren scowled as he looked things over. This looked to be older than even the Golden Age stuff that those of the Tower had uncovered and would prance about in. It was clear he didn't even know where to begin with this and needed some help getting dressed up.
Courtly Chaos - Team 2
Uldren probably should have been on team one, considering his previous role was that of the master of whispers. Instead he found himself on team two acting as a guard. This was more or less okay, he figured. He soon spotted a suspicious figure that seemed to be moving across the room towards the king, and he nudged a team member he stepped up to, speaking in a low voice. "Do you see that one there? Seems a bit shifty."
Video Games - Star rise over Gulati
Uldren had settled on this game, arguably the most difficult of them all. He seemed to be having trouble not because the game is difficult, but because the controls are apparently not calibrated to react as quickly as he is used to. While he was not doing poorly, he was not doing all that well at higher levels, and he was getting to be frustrated. He eventually takes the headset off and manages to restrain himself from throwing it, but couldn't stop himself from complaining.
"Whoever calibrated this damn thing is an idiot!"
He takes a few breaths before his eyes focused on someone who had witnessed the outburst, and he quickly regained his composure.
"What are you looking at?"

Charlie McGee - Firestarter - OTA
Whoever is helping Charlie with this, the universe is sorry. But you've been temporarily saddled with a fourteen year old girl who has more trust issues than the multiverse has stars. One who has spent too many years on her own and homeless, stealing to get by and running when the buzz in her head tells her to. So she's not too sure about this mission, she's less sure about this whole dress up thing and she's even significantly less sure of who it is helping her find an appropriate dress.
She'll be saying no to everything pulled out for her, just to be an impossible asshole. Because she can.
"No. No. God in Heaven, that's a hell no. No. Also, no." A pause, like maybe, just maybe, the thing you've held up is okay. But then the look on her face says it for her.
That's a no.
Oh, dear.
[Distractions - Team 3.]
It seems as though said teenager has relented and she's in something that actually works for her. Despite her deep hate for ridiculous dresses and anything that could possibly make her stand out. Which, she feels, is everything not a basic t-shirt and her jeans.
But considering what her roll is for this mission, her anger is a good thing. It just needs direction. She's part of the distraction team, and a distraction she will cause.
Now, it's hard for Charlie to focus on much when she's using her pyrokinesis. It even affects how she breathes, so whoever standing nearby will hear her breathing quicken, become shallower and come out sounding close to asthmatic. And anyone standing nearby will feel the air heat up just slightly before there's a very soft whoosh and that very Bad Thing in her head rushes at some curtains, starting a small fire at the bottom. There were a couple people smoking near it, so they'd be blamed for carelessness. It was part of her plan.
Charlie doesn't have to point it out, either, because there's a small shout as someone notices. And she pushes her ability just a little more, the fire burning just a hair quicker than normal. Keeping people distracted.
Mission accomplished.

Link | Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time
The outfits all looked strange to Link, but, to be fair, the clothing of most of Hyrule looked strange to him too. The Kokiri had a very distinctive way of dressing, and it made him stand out even in his homeland.
The boy picked up a waistcoat and breeches, eyeing the clothing with suspicion that was almost comical.
"This looks like it'd be hot...."
Courtly Chaos
Team Two
If there was one helpful thing about being a hero and a small boy, it was, that in general, people let their guard down around Link. It helped, that he was genuinely enthusiastic and interested in the knights.
While he hadn't forgotten his mission, he was fascinated about the possibility of learning new sword skills from the men, and he couldn't quite hide that shining enthusiasm from his expression as he spoke with them.

Nerdanel | Tolkien
She frowns thoughtfully at the assortment of dresses - none of them are quite the style she is used to, and she has always been more comfortable in work clothes anyway. Still...
"Perhaps this one?
Her wiry red hair is already starting to spring out of her braid.
Courtly Chaos - Team Three
Alright, so this was probably not what was meant by distraction, but... Nerdanel frowns mightily at the statue, and declares to her slowly gathering audience...
"Shoddy. Absolutely terrible work. Look! You can see the seam, right here. This is not even a sold piece of stone! Listen, you can hear - it's hollow. Cheap plaster painted to look like stone. You've been ripped off, sir."
She's been working her way through all the nearby sculptures and has acquired more and more interest as she goes. None of them are up to par, baring one vase that she deems 'acceptable'.
