Test Drive Meme 022
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun.
Happy testing!
Mix It Up
Normally, the morning announcement has you waking up in your designated bed, in your designated cabin, with your three designated roommates. This morning, something's wrong - you're waking up in a bed, in a cabin, with three roommates. But it isn't your bed, your cabin, or your roommates.
It looks like you've all been shuffled during the night. Pity no one's belongings got the memo, you don't recognise any of this stuff. At least you're in your own pyjamas.
Let Slip The Hot Dogs Of War
The carriage-length table and benches of the dining carriage are practical. Sturdy. Easy to clean. It's a good thing, too, because roughly thirty seconds ago, a handful of boiled vegetables went flying across the room and hit someone with a wet splat.
Twenty-nine seconds ago, war was declared.
One overturned bench and three pots of cabbage later, you've picked a side. Or a side has picked you, with a projectile sailing towards your face.
Follow Your Heart
The glittering, futuristic world of Tresques has long been protected by the Ciel Maidens, young women who wield their mighty empathic abilities to subdue and pilot gigantic mechanical monsters called Arc Frames. Now, with disaster on the horizon, their powers have vanished.
Team One
The primary foes of the Ciel Maidens are the Morne, hulking many-limbed shadows born from the nightmares and fears of the people of Tresques. Intangible, they roam the cities feeding on heightened emotions and stirring ill thoughts. Granted emergency Ciel badges and the use of the Arc Frames, team one are to combat the Morne wielding happiness, friendship and love as their weapons. Miniskirts are optional.Team Two
Camille, ace of the Ciel Maidens, has disappeared, after sealing the empathic powers of the entire order to avoid the loss of any more Maidens to tragedy such as that killed her partner and destroyed their Arc Frame. Team two, based in the order headquarters, are to find out as much as they can about the fate of her beloved, find Camille, and convince her to unseal the powers of the Ciel Maidens.Team Three
The Ciel Maidens have scattered to the far reaches of Tresques, seeking to restore their own powers and their confidence in themselves and each other. Some are so affected as to have birthed Morne of their own, the creatures possessing the Arc Frames and wreaking havoc. Team three are to search for the Maidens and bring them home.

No, it's ok. [Not really sure what the apology was for either, but readily accepting it. It wasn't a bad way to start a conversation with someone you accidently had awoken, plus it showed that the stranger held no ill intent. Dropping her voice to a whisper, Silvia looked around to see if the other bunks were currently occupied. It looked like they were in luck but she kept talking as if they were in a library, just in case] That's usually the general consensus. [Replying first then thinking later] Oh! Not to devalue the sentiment, but a lot of strange things happen on board this train.
Kidnapped? [This was peculiar indeed, but not just for the concerns the girl presented] So you're new, new here? Huh- normally people only show up on Platform day and they enter the train from there, but.. this is really where you ended up first? [Even in the dimlight it wasn't hard to tell that the pig-tailed girl was attractive. Her blond hair looked voluminous and shiny, and her light blue eyes were stunning.] Ah- thank you, that's really sweet of you to say. Some people think it's weird.. but those some people aren't really.. here. [Then once she got the might to, she slipped out of her bunk, placing her feet on the ground.]
Um, this can be a lot to take in all at once, and I haven't had the best track record explaining it all.. but I'll do what I can!

So this happens a lot... got it. [ Great. Just when she thought the weird shit was over, it starts anew. Go figure. But at least, for now, she's in good company -- Silvia doesn't really seem the type to be an enemy, and that at least puts Ann at ease. ] Even still, sorry... I didn't mean to wake you up or startle you. Or you know... both.
[ Unlike poor Silvia, Ann's not in PJs, instead dressed in the crop top and shorts and heels she'd set off on her little adventure in. Though to be fair, in a place like this, she's not likely to be caught dead in PJs any time soon. She stands up after a few more moments, brushing herself off for good measure. ]
I... can I be really honest right now? [ She glances off to the side, suddenly looking a little uneasy. ] I'm not really sure if this is the first place I wound up or not. The last few days have been really... [ Crazy? Stressful? Both. Insane. But she doesn't bother to finish that statement, she doesn't dare. ] Aha, I'm sorry, I'm rambling. People think it's weird? I know the feeling! I think it's very pretty and unique, just like you. So don't let anyone else's opinion get to you.
[ She'd know. ]
I appreciate it a lot! Sorry to be a bother... hey, one thing, though. Does the name 'Phantom Thieves' ring a bell to you?
[ It might seem random, but this is something she needs to know. Considering how quickly people had turned on them at home (again), she just wants to make sure if she can really be relaxed or not. Silvia seems nice enough, but she doesn't want to get jumped, either, thanks. ]

Well, not this specifically but basically yes. [New arrivals were a regular occurrence and you could never quite predict what sort of people or creatures would get pulled in. She was equally relieved that this stranger was not combative or verbally abusive. Oh, the stories Silvia could tell] It's ok. It's not like you could help it! Besides, I'd rather it be something like this than anything worse.
[At least Silvia's nightwear covered everything important, and she wasn't currently parading around the train in it telling everyone she was some kind of ancient princess or something!
Don't ask, it's a long story and it still troubles her]Sure, I can't see why not. [Trying to make this as easy for the other girl as possible] I can totally get that. Actually- it sounds like you might have stayed on the platform too long. It gets more disorienting the longer you delay boarding. [To her, this made total sense.] They do, my previous school even gave me pressure over it being against dress code or something. [It was just the best first day of school ever. Not. What followed next caused her to miss her footing and she nearly fell back into bed. Color flooding her cheeks she stammered out a response] It- you... but you don't even.. ha...guess we're all... it can be hard not to let it get to you sometime. [THERE]
No, you're not. I mean it's not like I don't try to help other arrivals I just feel like I'm not the best source for information. The only thieves I'm at all familiar with are the Abd el Rasul brothers. [Then she immediately wondered what this was about...]
Sounds like a great name for an anime though. Why?
