Test Drive 020

Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!

1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.

3. Have lots of fun.

Happy testing!

Crisis On... An Aeroplane

The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.

Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.

Here you are the crew of a small aeroplane in desperate trouble and attempting to land, the wind is strong, your engines are straining and the visibility is near zero. Can your crew land safely?

Dressing up

The Voidtreckers have a new mission and the dressing carriage is open for their convenience...

The mission is taking them to a circus and the clothes sure reflect that. Clown costumes, glittery leotards, many feathers and an overabundance of sequins.

There is make up and facepaint provided as well, hopefully there are enough voidtreckers with expertise to make it look convincing.

Clowning Around

Strange happenings have been happening in Kilpi, a monster ridden land and joining a performing troupe is the best bet of protection outside of the small settlements. The voidtreckers are masquerading as one such troupe, in order to help out a small settlement that has seen a spate of killings. Voidtreckers must put on the show of their lives, investigate the killings and bring peace back to the town.

Team One

Setting up the stage for the performance is a good time for building bonds with the towns people. Everyone knows something, no matter how small and they are more likely to gossip with stage hands than talk to the town guard.

Gather information, set up a stage and get ready for the show.

Team Two

The killings always happen in the evening or at night, always when people are alone. So making sure people are not alone is the task of team two. The show is ready, it is big, it is loud and hopefully enough to draw in the whole town.

Eat fire, juggle, walk that tightrope. Music plays, sequins glitter. The show is a distraction and their task is to be the best distraction they can be.

Team Three

Whilst team two are distracting it is team threes chance to catch the killer. The streets are deserted, quiet and stealth is necessary to remain undetected.

Most people are at the show, but not everyone. Are they in danger? Or are they potential suspects.

Polite kid. His answer clearly surprises Tony, who drapes that towel around his neck, giving the ends a meditative pull in time with the brief arch of his back. Hm. He notes the drift of Peter's gaze- everyone looks at it, it's hard not to -and pretends he hadn't, offering a contemplative sniff.

"So this whole–" a wide gesture encompasses the train around them, "–isn't even that old? How did you know you were the first; is it possible there were other occupants before that point?"

Another question goes chambered, but one two one thing at a time.

Peter shifts a little awkwardly because he's not about to mention the part about Tony was also among the original ten passengers but... older. He's not even sure how he'd explain that.

"Well, actually. We don't know that for absolute fact-and we're pretty sure there might have been a group before us? The first time I showed on the platform though, there wasn't anyone else on the train." He explains, still fidgeting a little but trying not to be obvious about it. "There were ten of us but I think the only people from that left are uh Buttercup and Me."

Yeah, he's not getting where these awkward vibes radiating off Peter are coming from. He tosses the towel down, centering his stance on his mat again.

"And what happens when people leave? They just go back home?" Tony abruptly adds, "Relax, kid, I'm not going to bite."

"We think so? I mean, I don't even remember leaving-really. I just sorta went to bed-well sorta-and then woke on a platform and everyone was really surprised to see me again." He recounts his adventures in returning to the train.

He tenses a little at Tony's words-maybe it's because of the familiar use of word 'kid' or because he realizes he's being a little too stiff. He can probably just pass it off as just nervous energy. Just about anyone on the train could probably attest to the fact that Peter Parker is normally a highly nervous kid.

"Oh. Right. Sorry, I just... have a lot to think about I guess." He decides on something that is technically the truth that way he's not lying outright.
vanity_fair: (How 'bout that)

Settling into a tree pose, balancing on one foot, Tony hums a note of agreement. "Yeah, I bet, in a place like this."

That's interesting and potentially concerning, however. Where do they go, if they don't actually leave?

"Where are you from?"

"Queens." He answers the question automatically. He's fairly used to getting it at this point and 'Queens, New York' is still a pretty broad answer with the multi-verse. "...2018." He adds as an afterthought.

"No shit?" More like 'holy shit', but hey. A little of Tony's unruffled facade splinters at the edges, something uncertain briefly crossing his features.

"2008, here. So, what's the future like back home?"

"Well.. uh..." Peter falters a moment, not sure how much he should divulge or even how to explain it. "It's uh... it's not too different-I mean it is-a lot happens in that ten years but um-I'm gonna be honest Mr Stark, I don't know if I'm allowed to tell you the future. I mean, what if it causes a paradox or something?"

It's mostly true, the other part is he really doesn't know how a Tony Stark from 2008 would handle knowing the some kid from Queens swung into his life and then refused to leave. That and how did he explain the Avengers, the accords and Thanos? That was a lot of information and maybe it would be best if he didn't tell Tony about all of that.

"Yeah, that's not how time paradoxes work," he breezily replies, giving Peter a squint. Relaxing out of the pose, Tony feels as though he can see the wheels turning, the deep level of thought the young man seems to be putting into their interaction. Nervousness makes Tony nervous in new places like this, kept from home against his will, and thinking too readily of his recent stay in that cave.

"Forget about it. Are you okay, kid?"

Peter's zoned out a little, thinking again that maybe he could change things if he did warn Tony in advance but there's probably more than decent chance he'd mess everything up even further. He snaps back to attention though and quickly nods his head.

"Huh? Oh. Yeah, of course. I'm good, I'm great. Actually." He'd probably be more convincing if he hadn't basically just repeated himself, actually. "A-are you okay? Because this-I mean there's a lot to get used to."
