Test Drive 020

Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!

1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.

3. Have lots of fun.

Happy testing!

Crisis On... An Aeroplane

The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.

Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.

Here you are the crew of a small aeroplane in desperate trouble and attempting to land, the wind is strong, your engines are straining and the visibility is near zero. Can your crew land safely?

Dressing up

The Voidtreckers have a new mission and the dressing carriage is open for their convenience...

The mission is taking them to a circus and the clothes sure reflect that. Clown costumes, glittery leotards, many feathers and an overabundance of sequins.

There is make up and facepaint provided as well, hopefully there are enough voidtreckers with expertise to make it look convincing.

Clowning Around

Strange happenings have been happening in Kilpi, a monster ridden land and joining a performing troupe is the best bet of protection outside of the small settlements. The voidtreckers are masquerading as one such troupe, in order to help out a small settlement that has seen a spate of killings. Voidtreckers must put on the show of their lives, investigate the killings and bring peace back to the town.

Team One

Setting up the stage for the performance is a good time for building bonds with the towns people. Everyone knows something, no matter how small and they are more likely to gossip with stage hands than talk to the town guard.

Gather information, set up a stage and get ready for the show.

Team Two

The killings always happen in the evening or at night, always when people are alone. So making sure people are not alone is the task of team two. The show is ready, it is big, it is loud and hopefully enough to draw in the whole town.

Eat fire, juggle, walk that tightrope. Music plays, sequins glitter. The show is a distraction and their task is to be the best distraction they can be.

Team Three

Whilst team two are distracting it is team threes chance to catch the killer. The streets are deserted, quiet and stealth is necessary to remain undetected.

Most people are at the show, but not everyone. Are they in danger? Or are they potential suspects.

Dressing Up

This was always the hard part for her. As a Human Replica Droid, she had been trained in many, many things. Fashion and the like weren't among them. At least now, that she had free choice. And certainly not in an unfamiliar context. She had never been to a circus. She was making extrapolations in her AA-1 Verbobrain based on what she saw others doing, but she couldn't be sure they weren't outliers.

Hmm.

She was weighing up a sparkly, black leotard that had been on the racks. Given her figure - itself sculpted then further perfected by her through extensive exercise - it would hardly be sufficient. Her other hand held a top hat.

Why was it called that? All hats went on top. Humans were wonderful and strange. And her quest to be more fully among them continued.

Clowning Around - Team Three

She wasn't good at crowd control. Mainly because she tended to be rather too honest about things like that. But combat and infiltration, well, that she could do very, very well. She moved from shadow to shadow, unnaturally silent. She had her blaster pistol in her hand, ready to open fire at the first sign of trouble.

At this moment, she was stalking her prey - in this case, someone else who was moving in a most suspicious manner. They had not identified themselves, so it could be anybody. A teammate, someone she hadn't met yet - or the killer. Or one of the killers.

She didn't like this side of her. She didn't care for the abilities. They were, however, impressive and of seemingly unending use. People just kept trying to kill her, after all. But necessary as it was, and to save lives, she did it anyway.

And moved closer.

Dressing Up

"I find it strange that we're to be choosing outfits before we know who will be doing what in the performance."

Azula was browsing for clothes as well trying to find something that suited her, perhaps red and gold, maybe a flash of white. She was trying to remember the sort of things Ty Lee and her friends would wear in their own circus.

"Have you decided on an act for yourself? Or are you hoping to be assigned a task?"

She weighted a pair of light purple tights to go with it. Maybe not the hat. But some sort of jacket. Part of the act, yes, but also of use for concealed weapons.

"The plan is, admittedly, merely sketched out rather than filled in," she replied, looking around for something practical for shoes. She understood the theatrics, and she understood the idea that she should be, as it were, physically demonstrative in her performance - but she'd be a pile of scrap metal before she'd wear impractical shoes for this task.

"But I have decided on knife-throwing," she added. It was, after all, already a highly practiced skill for her. And in so doing, nobody would really notice the many extra knives.

"Ah, because of course you have." Azula sounded irritated suddenly and there was a flash of anger in her eyes but she let it subside.

It seems even when the mission mostly reminded her of Ty Lee there would always be something to remind her of Mei close behind.

"I would hope you actually have a talent for it. Not that an accidental death can't be entertaining or funny but I was not given the indication that's the atmosphere we were going for."

It was an interesting turn, and she could not comprehend where it came from. Not knowing Azula's history, she could only extrapolate and address potentialities.

"Do you have a coin on you?" she asked, matter-of-factly by way of response. "Throw it into the air."

Because one possibility was that Azula was irritated because she felt Guri unskilled. There was a simple proof against that.

Leave it to me to mispell a main characters name in the last post. Oh well :P

[personal profile] makeadragonwannaretire 2021-01-21 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Azula's eyebrow arched with interest and there was a teasing hint of a smile in the corner of her painted red lips.

Producing a coin from her pocket she made a show of dexterity by playing with it between her fingers. This felt so much like the games she used to play with Mai when they were children.

Without a word of warning she flung the coin into the air, her sharp eyes focused on the blond woman to study her movements, not even caring where the coin landed.

I didn't see *anything*. :P

And she, in short, moved. Her reflexes were faster than human norms, as was her aim. Her hand just moved and with a brief swishing sound, her arm was outstretched.

And the coin was stuck to a ceiling joist with a thin throwing blade neatly bisecting it.

"You could function as my assistant and target," she offered, in the same matter-of-fact tone. "You seem unlikely to scream or wriggle problematically."
makeadragonwannaretire: (Stabby Stare)

[personal profile] makeadragonwannaretire 2021-01-21 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Azula's eyes widened, shocked with how fast that movement had been. Not even Mai could move faster then Azula could see.

If this one turned on her, the only possible warning she might have gotten would be the sound of the knife carving through the air before it hit her.

"Impressive. And I want you to understand I don't pass that word around lightly." She left the coin where it was for some other confused voyager to find when they came in to get dressed.

"I however do not assist. And as impressed as I am I don't like leaving myself vulnerable to people I barely know."

She was starting to figure things out but that didn't mean her paranoia wasn't always itching at the back of her mind. Already she was trying to figure out how she might defend herself against this new challenge in front of her.

"I will however accept the compliment. I'm not much for screaming or wriggling."

She, for her part, did an elegant little hop to retrieve the knife. Waste not, want not. The bifurcated coin clattered to the floor, unheeded.

She turned to listen as she spoke, watching her face carefully. Human emotions were difficult. And there is much in Azula's reaction that is puzzling to her.

"Well that is a pity," she replied, trying to work at the catch of her jumpsuit. She might need the dressing screen pointed out to her - human modesty standards are not something she really understood in such a setting. Public, yes, and occasions - but outside of that, what purpose was there?

"It would be an excellent opportunity to watch the audience. And I would not err, if that is the issue. There are very few variables."

The idea that she'd cause harm to someone she didn't know didn't even occur to her.

"But in that event, what will your 'act' be?"

[personal profile] makeadragonwannaretire 2021-01-22 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
Azula realized all too late what was happening and cleared her throat loudly to get Guri's attention and pointed towards the dressing screen. "If you don't care to preserve your modesty at least spare me the distraction please."

She returned to her work painting her lips carefully and making sure her makeup was right. Another gentle reminder of a time long since gone where she had only the finest cosmetics, and even if she desired servants to apply them for her. Not that she needed their help.

It was just nice to remember the natural order of things.

"I'll be entertaining them with my fire bending naturally." She held out a free hand producing a blue flame which she casually increased in size till it singed the ceiling and then back down into her palm where she snuffed it out by closing her fingers.

"Don't feel bad if people are distracted by it and miss your knife throwing." she added with a smirk evident in her voice.

[personal profile] marvelous_murderbot 2021-01-22 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugged, her shoulders already bare, and headed behind the screen. "Understood. I have been told I am very distracting." Her usual purple jumpsuit flopped over the screen a moment later. The gun belt with her twin blaster pistols followed a moment after.

Then her head popped up over top of the screen.

"Oh yes, your firebending. And thank you for the notice - I will say much the same: I hope my acrobatic knife throwing does not in any way distract from your display of skill."

The confidence in the statement came in its calmness, really, and might well pluck at a nerve or two - and hinted at how spectacular she would make the display. It didn't hurt that she had the visual acuity to see clearly through thin blindfolds, which the audience wouldn't know. But then, there was the fact that the well-tuned insult bounced off of her like a small shell against tank armor.

"Theatricality is strange," she added, pulling the elements of costume she had gathered over, "but I understand its value."
