Test Drive 020
Welcome to the Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab samples and have fun!
1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun.
Happy testing!
Crisis On... An Aeroplane
The train has a game carriage and the VR video games are always popular. A good way to relive boredom as well as teaching some good skills.
Crisis on...This game can be played with two to four players. It is essentially a crisis simulator mixed with an escape room. You can chose the scenario (the bridge of a space ship, a camp in a jungle, a high rise building, a sailing ship etc) and you are thrown into the middle of a crisis of some kind. Teamwork and a cool head are important as is using the surroundings wisely.
Here you are the crew of a small aeroplane in desperate trouble and attempting to land, the wind is strong, your engines are straining and the visibility is near zero. Can your crew land safely?
Dressing up
The Voidtreckers have a new mission and the dressing carriage is open for their convenience...
The mission is taking them to a circus and the clothes sure reflect that. Clown costumes, glittery leotards, many feathers and an overabundance of sequins.
There is make up and facepaint provided as well, hopefully there are enough voidtreckers with expertise to make it look convincing.
Clowning Around
Strange happenings have been happening in Kilpi, a monster ridden land and joining a performing troupe is the best bet of protection outside of the small settlements. The voidtreckers are masquerading as one such troupe, in order to help out a small settlement that has seen a spate of killings. Voidtreckers must put on the show of their lives, investigate the killings and bring peace back to the town.Team One
Setting up the stage for the performance is a good time for building bonds with the towns people. Everyone knows something, no matter how small and they are more likely to gossip with stage hands than talk to the town guard.
Gather information, set up a stage and get ready for the show.Team Two
The killings always happen in the evening or at night, always when people are alone. So making sure people are not alone is the task of team two. The show is ready, it is big, it is loud and hopefully enough to draw in the whole town.
Eat fire, juggle, walk that tightrope. Music plays, sequins glitter. The show is a distraction and their task is to be the best distraction they can be.Team Three
Whilst team two are distracting it is team threes chance to catch the killer. The streets are deserted, quiet and stealth is necessary to remain undetected.
Most people are at the show, but not everyone. Are they in danger? Or are they potential suspects.

[He puts his hand up and tries to cover his laughter. It doesn't work so well.]
Close, but wrong Underworld. The gods of Greece are only one of many pantheons of gods in my world. My mother is the goddess of the dead and ruler of the Norse underworld. Her name is Hel. The Norse are... northwest of Greece by a few countries.

[That answer actually startles him, and this time his eyes narrow out of suspicion moreso than focus.]
What? What do you mean, other Gods? A goddess of the dead? Great, must be some estranged branch of the family Father neglected to tell me about. It would be utterly like him. But another Underworld? That's...
[He pauses for a moment, puzzling over the multitude of questions he now has, when something else catches his attention.]
What is a country?
no subject
Okay. So you have your gods, the gods of the Underworld, the Olympians, all the groups of deities and spirits and so on. The region they inhabit and have influence over is their territory. Mortals have their own domains and territories, and they split it up into countries.
So you know Greece, right? It's not the whole world. It's large, but there are other domains beyond it. In some worlds, there's only one set of gods and so on. Your world might be one of them.
However in my world, other gods have domain over other territories. Psychopomps - like Hermes or Thanatos or the others that travel between the mortal world and the underworld - go to a specific destination rather than just generally 'underworld'. If I were taking a spirit to my mother's realm I would have to make sure it was going to Helheim, not Hades.
There are parallel gods. For instance, Zeus is associated with lightning. In my pantheon, there's a god named Thor associated with that. ... They have different personalities. There's different underworld rulers, too. You have Hades, I have Hel, someone from India would have Yama, someone from Japan would have Izanami, and so on.
I'm sorry he's a himbo
... so you're telling me I have more cousins than even Zeus realized? Blood and darkness! I'll need to get with my Olympian relatives and sort this all out. Though I don't suppose the name Arthur means anything to you? Or Rama, or Gilgamesh, or, I don't know, Lucifer?
[He's got a sneaking suspicion that most of his weapons have ties to other godly beings, or at the very least those that have been touched by the gods in some way. And Casper seems to know his stuff regarding that.]
I know of Greece, really. Haven't seen much of the surface world at all. Though, I have seen snow! It's that white, cold stuff that turns into water when it heats up, right?
Mortals have a lot of weird customs, I'm sure that's nothing new.
It's fine, *someone's* gotta be the himbo.
In a way. And yes. Arthur is a King of the Britons, a legendary leader said to return to his realm when the people have great need. Rama is an incarnation of the god Vishnu, a very famous one. He's from India. Gilgamesh is from Mesopotamia, and he's a part-god king who had a number of adventures and sought true immortality and failed. Lucifer is the devil, a being seen as the adversary and everything evil in the world.
[He looks Zagreus up and down. Underworld, and Father, and... ah. There's something trying to click in his brain - didn't he hear about some very obscure son of Hades? He'll have to think about it.]
Unfortunately whenever Greek myth is put into fiction, Hades tends to get put in the Lucifer-like role, which really isn't fair. If anyon'e sa jerk, it's Ares... mm. Never mind, there's a whole story with that.
[At the word 'snow' he seems to light up, bouncing on the balls of his feet.]
That's right. I can't make snow proper, but...
[He holds his hand out as if grabbing something and with a puff of snow, a spear made of ice forms in his grip.]
This ice is technically magical, so it won't melt, but something like that. I guess technically if I made water and then made the temperature around me drop, that would work. Maybe. I'd have to try!

[He motions to the broadsword he has with him.]
Although I think he names it Holy Excalibur, whenever he wields it.
[Zagreus actually snorts when Casper mentions Hades.]
If anything, I'm more like Lucifer, at least if what Lord Uncle Zeus told me is true about attacking his Lord Father. But they're right about my Father's disposition. He's not exactly known for being warm and inviting, is he? Especially not to his son.
[His eyes light up at the spear of ice, so easily formed in Casper's hands.] That's amazing! Has your version of Demeter granted you her Boon, or can you just do that by yourself? Either way, that seems really useful.

[Eh. Time is soup, so he doesn't worry about the temporal issues.]
I haven't met the god myself, though someone I traveled with for a time was one of his daughters.
[He'd... rather not think about Aiden, actually.]
Oh, no, this is more from my mother than anything. Her Underworld is a bit... cold. And the pantheon I'm from is far more northern than yours... though why would her boon be cold-based? Has Persephone gone missing, again?
no subject
My Underworld is, too - at least parts of it. I heard Asphodel was fairly mild, once, before the Phlegethon flooded it entirely. Elysium is colder, and the Temple colder still, though I think that the cold leeches in from the surface world.
[Something Casper says immediately puts Zagreus on edge, his muscles tensing and his tone shifting from casual, friendly banter to a harder, more defensive tone.]
Wait, again? What do you mean again?
no subject
Ugh... the Phlegethon flooding sounds awful. But... um. Maybe that was a poor choice of words. In the myths I know, when she got to the underworld she ate some of a pomegranate, and so she has to spend six months of the year in the Underworld with Hades and the other six months with her mother. And Demeter grieves when she has to go to the Underworld, so that's why the plants die and the weather gets cold.
But if she's stuck in permanent cold... oh. Um. That's an issue not only for the gods, but for the humans that will die in the cold without enough warmth or food.

[Zagreus listens patiently to Casper's explanation, and a part of it makes him wonder if perhaps maybe... maybe... it's the will of the Fates for her to return home. That small possibility lightens his heart.]
... so that's what Demeter meant. Blood and Darkness, no wonder we've been getting such an influx of shades lately. And I doubt the Olympians can persuade her from her course.
[Well, the situation at home just got more complicated. Awesome. 8| Zagreus makes a mental note to check on that when he gets home... whenever that is.]
