Pumpkin Patch

It seems the ingredient of the month is pumpkins. The store room is full of them, in all sort of sizes all ready to be made into delicious meals. Pumpkin soup, roasted pumpkin seeds, stuffed pumpkin, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin pie. All the recipes are on the ICP and are easy enough to follow, even for those who have never seen a pumpkin before in their life.

Get cooking or perhaps passengers from worlds with Halloween festivals wish to carve the pumpkins first, creating grotesque faces or fancy works of art.

Hopefully no one eats a masterpiece!

Movie Wars

The Cinema carriage is as tall as a double carriage, but has only the one floor. Instead it features sloped seating. To enter the carriage from the sleeper carriage side you must first go upstairs. You enter at the top of the carriage, in the centre aisle with paired seating sloping downwards on either side. On the opposite wall there is a large screen and there is a door to the left of the screen once you get to ground level, to allow you into the next carriage.

On the right of the screen there is an ICP and in this carriage it has a catalogue of films and TV series. There are hundreds to chose from.

Hundreds of films to chose from and hundreds of passengers to share it with. Choosing what to watch can be difficult, agreeing what to watch can be impossible.

Are they a fan of Merry Little Voidtrain- the long running cartoon series about a Voidtrain and captain Kheli. Or perhaps a hard hitting drama about cross alien-species romance. Or an action film? A heal tapping musical about robot mice?

Choose a film, try not to argue, grab some popcorn and hope your fellow cinema goers understand cinema etiquette...

Spookstown

A series of mysterious events have struck a small town. The Voidtreckers are in need of help.

The train has brought the Voidtreckers to the town of Carcel. It is a small town with a small population in a world that is low in technology. A town of cobbled streets lined with gas lanterns. The occasional carriage drawn by strange creatures with six legs and long necks. The town is far away from any of the larger population centres of the world and yet it is here where the Voidtreckers must help.

A series of strange disappearances have rocked the town. People vanishing, sometimes from the streets but more recently from their own homes. To make matters worse the town is plagued by ghosts, invisible yet dangerous. They attack by manipulating the environment, throwing knives, tables and even people across a room. The town has descended into chaos and are in desperate need of help.

Team One

There has been some investigation into the missing people and there have been rumours of cries for help in the woods.

A thick, dark, slightly scary woods. The townspeople who are left have lanterns to borrow and promises that the path is safe and easy to follow. Don't worry about that howling, it's just the wind...

Team One must make their way through the woods to find the missing townspeople. Unfortunately for the Voidtreckers the cries and calls for help don't come from the safe paths and so they must move through the undergrowth to find the lost and confused townspeople. What's that creaking noise? Is that a shadow? What lurks in the bushes?

Team Two

Back in the village team two must try and help the villagers who are plagued by ghosts. The ghosts roam around unhindered by walls or doors. Sometimes they are just mischievous, blowing out lanterns, knocking books off shelves. Other times they are violent, throwing objects, throwing people, locking people in or out of their houses.

Protecting people against invisible enemies is no easy task. Help the town gather together, set up barricades, try and hide any dangerous objects before they can be used against the townspeople.

Or perhaps try out some traditional ghostbusting techniques. What harm can it do?

Team Three

Of course all this must have been caused by something. It seems some of the towns teenagers had found a strange cave in their ramblings not a week before. It had been full of strange objects, small gems, daggers, ancient books.

All the sort of things that probably should not be taken from their ancient resting place but of course someone had taken something. Maybe. Few of the teenagers are willing to talk and those that do are unwilling to get their friends into trouble.

Investigate, try and convince them to do the right thing. Round up the items that have been taken and return them to the cave. Hopefully that will end this nightmare!

“Not very long. I’ve not met many others yet. I wish I could see how this train works, though, it seems interesting.”

"Magic more than science it seems, given it is sentient." He hesitated, then knowing he was going to hate the answer, he asked, "so tell me, this version of you... do you care for reading?"

That was an odd question. “I don’t have much time for it. The ranch keeps me busy.”

He grinned slightly. “But, I don’t mind it so much. Malon reads to me sometimes, and I wouldn’t want to change that.”

"The Link I know hates reading. I will admit it is one of our most common arguments. I, among other things, am a teac... wait. Malon. The redheaded girl? Or am I misremembering names?"

Did EVERYONE in Hyrule reincarnate?

“Mr. Talon’s daughter. We plan on getting married in the Spring, if her father agrees.”

Most people knew Malon. She was hard to miss.

(Only an unfortunate few, Clef.)

"You have now given me another reason to wish to speak with my Link," he said, unable to hide how amused he is. The shade of red that came to his face whenever someone mentioned that he was in love with his Malon. I do want to do new research on reincarnation in Hyrule, however."

“Why? Are you interested in the goddesses?”

"I am interested in quite a number of topics, but you have now given me cause to expand a previous theory."

They got to the quiet car. He waved a hand and the door opened. Sorry his Link, he's using magic even for that. "After you."

He looked slightly askance at the display of magic, but, went in anyway.

“What kind of theory?”

The door slid closed and locked. He lowered himself onto a seat and Unmade his shield and ground again.


"Until today it had been my understanding that exactly three people reincarnate in Hyrule. Those three being the ones tied to the Triforce. Yourself. Zelda. Ganon. I had presumed that either there was something unique about your souls that then was part of the reason you were connected to the Triforce, or that there was something about the Triforce that conferred this ability. However, Malon sets that theory on its ear in interesting ways. As far as I am aware, she has no connection to the Triforce at all, save for being connected to Link. You in your case. My son also had a Malon. If she also reincarnates then either the Triforce affects her using you as a conduit, she is drawn to you and you to her at base because of a similar soul type - though that attraction is not actually romantic in base nature, that comes from you yourselves - or... I need to examine more souls from Hyrule to see if perhaps reincarnation is not as rare there as we had come to think." He sighed. "I do wish I could speak to Shadow about this," he added in a murmur.

He shook his head. "But that is all beside the point for the moment, a long spanning research topic. You had questions, I shall do my best to answer them."

Sorry, Clef, you just alarmed the Hero of Time.

“Ganondorf is gone. In both our times. I don’t know what you’re talking about...”

"I hope that he remains as such, but I suspect that he will not," he said gently, wincing a bit.

“Why wouldn’t he stay gone?”

Link couldn’t quite hide the suspicion in his voice.

[guru_clef]

"Because historically, he hasn't. It is possible that you are from a future in which something you did finally stuck, and I do hope that is the case. But as part of my deal with the you that agreed to be my son, I read up all that could be made available to me about Hyrule in general, and Ganon in particular. Historically every time he seemed to be defeated he was, for a short time, and then he returned. My son, my version of you, seemed certain he himself would never reach the age you seem to be now," he said softly. "He was sure he would go down fighting well before he could be old enough for marriage to be a serious consideration. He refused to accept the possibility that he could one day reach my age."

He was clearly sad about all this, and worried for his boy.

Link’s eyes narrowed. “You must be mistaken. No one had even heard of Ganondorf until he usurped the King—-or tried to.”

He was tense now, eyes darting around. “If you know Zelda, then you must know that as well.”

That sure was a sinking feeling in his chest now.

"Then... perhaps I was wrong. Very wrong," he said in a whisper. "You... might be the first." That... that was all kinds of problematic. For Link. And meant that Clef couldn't even offer help because on top of the risk of a flaw... if his actions might somehow cause his Link to never be born.....

He relaxed ever so slightly, even if he was unnerved by the talk of reincarnation.

“You... aren’t trying to study up to bring him back?”

[guru_clef]

Clef jumped as if slapped. "What? No! Of course not! The other side of the deal I made with my boy was that if I studied and understood he would let me fight ALONG SIDE HIM if Ganon ever showed up. the closest I might ever come is reading up on the theory...but that would be for your sake and Zelda's not his and even then... I do not think I would ever do such a thing. I want to keep you, any you, alive as best I can while you are alive. But you've been forced to live so many times my boy, and so few of those lives have been kind. As much as I would miss you, do miss you, I do not think I could ever be so selfish or so cruel as to do that unless I knew you had expressly wanted me to."

Link stared at Clef.

“I think you’re mistaken. I’m the Hero of Time, yeah, but, I’m not...I have only lived this life.”

[guru_clef]

He hesitated, then... "Would you allow me to show you something? With my magic I can make an illusion from my memories. Show you the you I remember."

Link nodded slowly, if a bit wary.

[guru_clef]

He focused on the area before him and a scene unfolded, as seen from Clef's POV, which was... perhaps odd at times. Especially the points at which he was on the ceiling. But it was one of his memories of his son, of their relationship, where they discussed among other things, Shadow and reincarnation.

“That’s me.”

Truthfully, he didn’t understand most of what the two had discussed in the vision. But, that tunic was unmistakable, as were the golden triangles on his hand.

“But, I don’t remember that happening.”

"That is the version of you that I know, though that is not always how he looks. Generally he looks more like..." another scene unfolded, again from Clef's point of view. It was one of his favorite Naut memories. "This. This is my Link, my son."

Link silently pulled a familiar blue instrument from his jacket.

“The Ocarina of Time. Those...those are my songs. That’s me. I don’t remember any of it, but, that’s—“

He put the instrument to his lips and played that lullaby, note for note, swaying slightly as he played, eyes shut.
