Pumpkin Patch

It seems the ingredient of the month is pumpkins. The store room is full of them, in all sort of sizes all ready to be made into delicious meals. Pumpkin soup, roasted pumpkin seeds, stuffed pumpkin, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin pie. All the recipes are on the ICP and are easy enough to follow, even for those who have never seen a pumpkin before in their life.

Get cooking or perhaps passengers from worlds with Halloween festivals wish to carve the pumpkins first, creating grotesque faces or fancy works of art.

Hopefully no one eats a masterpiece!

Movie Wars

The Cinema carriage is as tall as a double carriage, but has only the one floor. Instead it features sloped seating. To enter the carriage from the sleeper carriage side you must first go upstairs. You enter at the top of the carriage, in the centre aisle with paired seating sloping downwards on either side. On the opposite wall there is a large screen and there is a door to the left of the screen once you get to ground level, to allow you into the next carriage.

On the right of the screen there is an ICP and in this carriage it has a catalogue of films and TV series. There are hundreds to chose from.

Hundreds of films to chose from and hundreds of passengers to share it with. Choosing what to watch can be difficult, agreeing what to watch can be impossible.

Are they a fan of Merry Little Voidtrain- the long running cartoon series about a Voidtrain and captain Kheli. Or perhaps a hard hitting drama about cross alien-species romance. Or an action film? A heal tapping musical about robot mice?

Choose a film, try not to argue, grab some popcorn and hope your fellow cinema goers understand cinema etiquette...

Spookstown

A series of mysterious events have struck a small town. The Voidtreckers are in need of help.

The train has brought the Voidtreckers to the town of Carcel. It is a small town with a small population in a world that is low in technology. A town of cobbled streets lined with gas lanterns. The occasional carriage drawn by strange creatures with six legs and long necks. The town is far away from any of the larger population centres of the world and yet it is here where the Voidtreckers must help.

A series of strange disappearances have rocked the town. People vanishing, sometimes from the streets but more recently from their own homes. To make matters worse the town is plagued by ghosts, invisible yet dangerous. They attack by manipulating the environment, throwing knives, tables and even people across a room. The town has descended into chaos and are in desperate need of help.

Team One

There has been some investigation into the missing people and there have been rumours of cries for help in the woods.

A thick, dark, slightly scary woods. The townspeople who are left have lanterns to borrow and promises that the path is safe and easy to follow. Don't worry about that howling, it's just the wind...

Team One must make their way through the woods to find the missing townspeople. Unfortunately for the Voidtreckers the cries and calls for help don't come from the safe paths and so they must move through the undergrowth to find the lost and confused townspeople. What's that creaking noise? Is that a shadow? What lurks in the bushes?

Team Two

Back in the village team two must try and help the villagers who are plagued by ghosts. The ghosts roam around unhindered by walls or doors. Sometimes they are just mischievous, blowing out lanterns, knocking books off shelves. Other times they are violent, throwing objects, throwing people, locking people in or out of their houses.

Protecting people against invisible enemies is no easy task. Help the town gather together, set up barricades, try and hide any dangerous objects before they can be used against the townspeople.

Or perhaps try out some traditional ghostbusting techniques. What harm can it do?

Team Three

Of course all this must have been caused by something. It seems some of the towns teenagers had found a strange cave in their ramblings not a week before. It had been full of strange objects, small gems, daggers, ancient books.

All the sort of things that probably should not be taken from their ancient resting place but of course someone had taken something. Maybe. Few of the teenagers are willing to talk and those that do are unwilling to get their friends into trouble.

Investigate, try and convince them to do the right thing. Round up the items that have been taken and return them to the cave. Hopefully that will end this nightmare!

“I’m afraid so,” Gen sat back, looking a little smug. “Now the hungry cries of your god will go unanswered, and his power will wither away from a lack of burnt flesh. Who would you worship then, once he vanishes?”

"I suppose I'll just have to become a Buddhist," Koumyou said sadly, hands sliding off his face. "Oh, what a disappointing downgrade."

“Well, if you’re becoming a boring old Buddhist,” Gen shrugged a little, “I can no longer be Action Man. Not much use for heroes if there’s nobody to fight.”

“What would you suggest I do instead?”

"Just a couple boring old retirees are we, then?" Koumyou pouted, "I suppose we'll need rocking chairs. And a porch. Perhaps you can take up knitting?"

“I’m pretty garbage at knitting, or most hard work,” Gen claimed. “But if I’m an old and gray retiree, perhaps I can be a wizened fortune teller for any curious passer-by.”

"Well there you go, then," the priest agreed, "provided we don't find any very hungry volcanoes any time soon."

“I’d say I’ll pray that doesn’t happen,” Gen mused, “but under the circumstances, that seems counterproductive, doesn’t it?”

"It always would be!"

Not the expected take from a priest, was it?

“Now, I’m not sure if that’s reassuring or worrying,” Gen said, joking in a way that disguised how honest that statement was.

"Contemplate that very concern for long enough," Koumyou said cheerfully, "and you may become Buddhist yet."

Ha ha only serious.

Gen laughed, genuinely pleased by that answer. It was a trick, in a way. A delightful trick.

“I don’t think we’ve ever actually been introduced,” Gen told him, “my name is Asagiri Gen. It’s a pleasure finally getting to know you.”

"Koumyou Sanzo," the priest replied in kind, and then seemed to remember something. "--Ah, since we're from different worlds, I should let you know to either use the whole thing, or just Sanzo!"

It was kind of understood where he was from, but this wasn't Shangri-La.

“Ah, so there’s some manner of significance to it, then?” Gen asked, playful and curious both.

He winked. “Just Gen is fine for me, but that’s because if you start calling me Asagiri, I’ll assume you’re some professor who’s about to hit me with a ruler.”

"It's a title!" Koumyou had no reason to hide any of it, after all. "The highest rank in all of Buddhism."

So not just a priest, then.

“You don’t say?” Gen asked, tapping his chin again. But he had a sinking suspicion that this time, Koumyou was telling the truth.

“I really need to remember to research why Buddhists love volcanos so much in the future then ...”

It’s just easier to hide his surprise with more jokes, let’s be real.

"I've never actually seen one," Koumyou admitted, in that seemingly air-headed way of his that often made Ukoku laugh.

“Now, I’m just feeling sorry for you,” Gen told him, shaking his head. “If you promise not to throw in anyone, the next time we get to see some volcanic activity, you can help my friend and I gather up some samples.”

"That sounds suspiciously like work!"

“What?” Gen looked surprised. “No, of course not. I’ve got a terrible allergy to work. I wouldn’t dare inflict it upon others.”

"Well, I suppose I could observe," Koumyou said cheerfully, "though I don't see why you would want samples from a volcano. It's just hot rocks, isn't it?"

“Well, I suppose if you only wanted to look, but then you’d get nothing for yourself,” Gen smiled brightly. “There’s a lot of very pretty things you can find around volcanos, such as obsidian! And, as a bonus, those can be extremely sharp, too.”

"Why would I want sharp rocks?"

"Why, think of all the things you could make with them - that you don't need to waste your points on!" Gen suggested. "Scissors to trim your hair - a knife to peel potatoes - or really you could attempt to blunt down the edges so you can just have a very pretty rock."

He shrugged a little. "Maybe I lack imagination, if you can think of a better use! I'm not as clever as some people, feel free to surprise me."

"Trying to bribe me with shiny rocks... you must have me mistaken for another Sanzo."

Somewhere out there in the multiverse, he hoped Ukoku knew he was talkin shit. Get wrecked, raven priest.

"I suppose I'm a poor candidate for Buddhism if I'm so attached to all the different shiny rocks I can find," Gen mused, smiling a little at Koumyou. "But there's other Sanzos - and ones who would be far more willing to help me with all my material desires?"
