1. Post with your character, including their name and series in the subject. We’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!
2. Assume they've been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action.
3. Have lots of fun. Mandatory, mod-sanctioned fun.
Happy testing!
Pumpkin Patch
It seems the ingredient of the month is pumpkins. The store room is full of them, in all sort of sizes all ready to be made into delicious meals. Pumpkin soup, roasted pumpkin seeds, stuffed pumpkin, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin pie. All the recipes are on the ICP and are easy enough to follow, even for those who have never seen a pumpkin before in their life.
Get cooking or perhaps passengers from worlds with Halloween festivals wish to carve the pumpkins first, creating grotesque faces or fancy works of art.
Hopefully no one eats a masterpiece!
Movie Wars
The Cinema carriage is as tall as a double carriage, but has only the one floor. Instead it features sloped seating. To enter the carriage from the sleeper carriage side you must first go upstairs. You enter at the top of the carriage, in the centre aisle with paired seating sloping downwards on either side. On the opposite wall there is a large screen and there is a door to the left of the screen once you get to ground level, to allow you into the next carriage.
On the right of the screen there is an ICP and in this carriage it has a catalogue of films and TV series. There are hundreds to chose from.
Hundreds of films to chose from and hundreds of passengers to share it with. Choosing what to watch can be difficult, agreeing what to watch can be impossible.
Are they a fan of Merry Little Voidtrain- the long running cartoon series about a Voidtrain and captain Kheli. Or perhaps a hard hitting drama about cross alien-species romance. Or an action film? A heal tapping musical about robot mice?
Choose a film, try not to argue, grab some popcorn and hope your fellow cinema goers understand cinema etiquette...
Spookstown
A series of mysterious events have struck a small town. The Voidtreckers are in need of help.
The train has brought the Voidtreckers to the town of Carcel. It is a small town with a small population in a world that is low in technology. A town of cobbled streets lined with gas lanterns. The occasional carriage drawn by strange creatures with six legs and long necks. The town is far away from any of the larger population centres of the world and yet it is here where the Voidtreckers must help.
A series of strange disappearances have rocked the town. People vanishing, sometimes from the streets but more recently from their own homes. To make matters worse the town is plagued by ghosts, invisible yet dangerous. They attack by manipulating the environment, throwing knives, tables and even people across a room. The town has descended into chaos and are in desperate need of help.Team One
There has been some investigation into the missing people and there have been rumours of cries for help in the woods.
A thick, dark, slightly scary woods. The townspeople who are left have lanterns to borrow and promises that the path is safe and easy to follow. Don't worry about that howling, it's just the wind...
Team One must make their way through the woods to find the missing townspeople. Unfortunately for the Voidtreckers the cries and calls for help don't come from the safe paths and so they must move through the undergrowth to find the lost and confused townspeople. What's that creaking noise? Is that a shadow? What lurks in the bushes?Team Two
Back in the village team two must try and help the villagers who are plagued by ghosts. The ghosts roam around unhindered by walls or doors. Sometimes they are just mischievous, blowing out lanterns, knocking books off shelves. Other times they are violent, throwing objects, throwing people, locking people in or out of their houses.
Protecting people against invisible enemies is no easy task. Help the town gather together, set up barricades, try and hide any dangerous objects before they can be used against the townspeople.
Or perhaps try out some traditional ghostbusting techniques. What harm can it do?Team Three
Of course all this must have been caused by something. It seems some of the towns teenagers had found a strange cave in their ramblings not a week before. It had been full of strange objects, small gems, daggers, ancient books.
All the sort of things that probably should not be taken from their ancient resting place but of course someone had taken something. Maybe. Few of the teenagers are willing to talk and those that do are unwilling to get their friends into trouble.
Investigate, try and convince them to do the right thing. Round up the items that have been taken and return them to the cave. Hopefully that will end this nightmare!
Daichi Izayoi | Vampire: the Masquerade OC
[It's been months since Daichi has had to think about regular people food, but with few other options on how to get a meal, he's presently chosen to give the stuff another shot. Even back home where only blood would suffice, he would still indulge every now and then anyway, so he sees little harm in giving it a chance. At worst, he'll end up sick by dawn, right?
So this man, this vampire, enters the store room at about three in the morning, and he's met with an army of pumpkins.]
...wonder what month it is, mm?
[Though he would seem alone, a resounding squeak answers his cheeky murmuring. The squeaking grows louder as Daichi approaches one of the tables, at which it would seem someone had been delicately gutting a pumpkin before appearing to have been called away. His eyes skim over the organised mess for but a moment, but his company has other plans, as an incomprehensible mass of pink and white wriggles ravenously out of his jacket and launches itself at the fresh pickings.]
Ah! Peridot! [After that baby!]
[TEAM THREE: SILVER TONGUE, SNAKE EYES]
[If some of his more recent endeavours back home have taught Daichi anything, it is that children are a pain in the ass, evidenced clearly now by the reported guilty parties involved in the haunted cave thefts abruptly clamming up when the town needs them most. He understands himself to be the more persuasive between Vyrno and himself, and though Vyrno is far from here, the fact still fills him with the necessary confidence to confront some of these rowdy teens.
Confidence, however, does not equal patience.]
Come now, child, [one will hear Daichi sigh through clenched teeth,] the safety of your fellow folks ought to be more urgent than any scolding! Besides, I'm sure everyone would be quite relieved with you if you cooperated...!
[The kids don't budge.] Really... Time is of the essence here, you know...!
[WILDCARD: hit me with whatever tbh, I'm here to have a good time!]
Team Three~
[The tone of the brunette wizard beside Daichi is much blunter.]
How would you feel if someone went through your stuff, and took whatever they wanted just because it looked neat?
[Nita, though she may or may not look it now, wasn't a teenager all that long ago.
More to the point, she has a younger sister.]
no subject
It would upset you, right? The same goes for these spectres; they're simply upset for having lost what they treasure. You would want your belongings returned, yes?
"Yeah, but what do a bunch of dead people need with this stuff?"
[Excellent. Superb.] That's beside the point...!
no subject
[Nita adds, because it can never hurt to add additional warnings...]
If there was, say, fungus or bugs left on those objects, you'd have brought those home, too.
no subject
"I think they're right--"
"It's for the best..."
"You think I'm scared of some bugs?" [One remains unconvinced.
Daichi thinks things over for a moment.] Well... You certainly seem to be scared enough of some ghosts. How's that for some harmless bugs?
[The child opens their mouth to protest, but they find themselves quickly shut down by their peers, urging them to "just give it up already" and cooperate. One by one, the teenagers steel themselves and head off to retrieve the items they stole.
It is in this moment of quiet and calm that Daichi allows himself to smile with relief.] I'm not sure I would've gotten much progress had you not chimed in. I'm incredibly grateful for your help.
no subject
We tag-teamed it; don't be down on yourself, okay? We all have our strengths.
[She winks.]
Still, I'm glad to pitch in where I can. I've managed worse attitudes before.
[Not even counting her experience on the train...]
no subject
My apologies, have we met before? I can't seem to put a name to your face. My name's Daichi, if we haven't.
no subject
[And Nita was not the best poker player in her circle of friends, so she could use it.
Nita offers a forgiving smile.]
Mine's Nita, and it's even odds all we've done is pass each other in the hall before! Happens way too often, but...
[She shakes her head, as off in the distance the kids argue about who had brought which ancient-looking book or coveted shiny doodad.]
The train's definitely always packed.
oh my GOD that icon I'm in love
[He stuffs his hands in his pockets and lets out a laugh.] Goodness, indeed! Though it's nothing compared to the morning subway, I... I believe, anyway... Wow, it's been so long since I've--
[Oh, right, there's a person in front of him. Nita? Nita, yes.] W-well! It's nice to meet you, I... I'm sorry, I'm still adapting to the whole "stuck on a train" thing, yes?
If you ever meet Swirl on plurk, they're a gem~
And it's exactly what it sounds like. If you can't sleep, regardless of the reason... well, there's always someone to talk to.
[Doesn't help with the 'everyone gets sent back to their beds' issue, but eh.]
I know what you mean, Daichi; I live - lived, I guess? - near New York City on the Earth I'm from; living on a train is different from just riding them often.
oh yeah, we were in a game together once!
[Dealing with older Kindred who had experienced torpor has let him grow accustomed to the whole "being from different times" thing.]
wow, small world! =O
Loudly. But the item is recovered, and so Nita recovers with good grace.]
2011. When do you know it from, then?
no subject
Oh! But yes! Yes, someone to spend the evenings with, please! Everyone always needs something from me during the day... A change of pace would be delightful.
no subject
Near to each other, then, chronologically speaking. The gap can get way larger for people, so that's not all that bad.
[Nita looks bemused.]
More of a night owl, huh? Don't think I could keep up that sleep cycle, myself, but all the more power to you.
no subject
[And it's definitely from working nights as an EMT and not because he's a vampire. Definitely not.]
You just show up from time to time, then?
no subject
Sometimes I stay up too late doing research and my body punishes me for it the next day. Sometimes...
[She sighs. Nightmares.]
Most of the time, though, I stick to routine. Enough to be healthy, anyway.
no subject
It's not very funny.]
...did you have ghosts in your home?
no subject
No; we don't have ghosts specifically back in my neck of the multiverse, though I know they're real elsewhere.
... I guess you could say I have experience with the supernatural, though, of lots of stripes.
no subject
I've had plenty of other supernatural encounters for my time. It seems like I won't be lacking them anytime soon, but nevertheless, I could use a break...
[A pause.]
Do you like it here? Ah- I'm sorry, I'm chatting your ear off...
no subject
[There's a shout from up ahead, though closer observation reveals one of the girls tripped a boy. Nita sighs.]
Maybe once we give them back all their stuff... Anyway.
[She gives Daichi a faint smile.]
And- yeah, this is a nice enough world. It'll be easier to appreciate once the danger's over, though, I'll tell you that much!
no subject
[Daichi's thoughts are interrupted, however, when the group of kids up ahead appears to ripple with a sudden inspired energy, and they begin to run off to complete their task.] Perhaps they fancy themselves heroes... Hm~
[He extends a hand to Nita. He feels a little more invigorated himself, truth be told. Their spirits are infectious.] We have a job to do, yes? Maybe we'll have some time left over to prowl the town. Ready to go?
no subject
[Nita nods, then thumbs in the direction of the kids.]
We'd better hoof it over if we want to keep up with them, though; could get real bad if they're... misinterpreting.
[But she takes that hand before they kick the pace up any.]
Ready as ever, Daichi. You're on!
STORIGE
....It's actually not October somehow, [Is what he eventually says, watching as the opossum scrambles for pumpkin.] They don't really have...normal months here.
...
Do you need help..?
storidge....
[He's straining a little bit as he reaches over the table and attempts to pluck the little marsupial off a plate, but she scurries under his fingers and away from his side of things. Apparently, something closer to Emporio is suddenly more appealing.]
It.. would seem I do, yes. [Peridot is presently investigating a whole pumpkin, nibbling lightly on the remains of the stem before attempting to fit its circumference in her mouth.]
no subject
... [He'll go over to try and reach out a hand anyway. Pss pss?] ...What are they anyway? ...They look sort of like...a mouse? A rat?
