Pumpkin Patch

It seems the ingredient of the month is pumpkins. The store room is full of them, in all sort of sizes all ready to be made into delicious meals. Pumpkin soup, roasted pumpkin seeds, stuffed pumpkin, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin pie. All the recipes are on the ICP and are easy enough to follow, even for those who have never seen a pumpkin before in their life.

Get cooking or perhaps passengers from worlds with Halloween festivals wish to carve the pumpkins first, creating grotesque faces or fancy works of art.

Hopefully no one eats a masterpiece!

Movie Wars

The Cinema carriage is as tall as a double carriage, but has only the one floor. Instead it features sloped seating. To enter the carriage from the sleeper carriage side you must first go upstairs. You enter at the top of the carriage, in the centre aisle with paired seating sloping downwards on either side. On the opposite wall there is a large screen and there is a door to the left of the screen once you get to ground level, to allow you into the next carriage.

On the right of the screen there is an ICP and in this carriage it has a catalogue of films and TV series. There are hundreds to chose from.

Hundreds of films to chose from and hundreds of passengers to share it with. Choosing what to watch can be difficult, agreeing what to watch can be impossible.

Are they a fan of Merry Little Voidtrain- the long running cartoon series about a Voidtrain and captain Kheli. Or perhaps a hard hitting drama about cross alien-species romance. Or an action film? A heal tapping musical about robot mice?

Choose a film, try not to argue, grab some popcorn and hope your fellow cinema goers understand cinema etiquette...

Spookstown

A series of mysterious events have struck a small town. The Voidtreckers are in need of help.

The train has brought the Voidtreckers to the town of Carcel. It is a small town with a small population in a world that is low in technology. A town of cobbled streets lined with gas lanterns. The occasional carriage drawn by strange creatures with six legs and long necks. The town is far away from any of the larger population centres of the world and yet it is here where the Voidtreckers must help.

A series of strange disappearances have rocked the town. People vanishing, sometimes from the streets but more recently from their own homes. To make matters worse the town is plagued by ghosts, invisible yet dangerous. They attack by manipulating the environment, throwing knives, tables and even people across a room. The town has descended into chaos and are in desperate need of help.

Team One

There has been some investigation into the missing people and there have been rumours of cries for help in the woods.

A thick, dark, slightly scary woods. The townspeople who are left have lanterns to borrow and promises that the path is safe and easy to follow. Don't worry about that howling, it's just the wind...

Team One must make their way through the woods to find the missing townspeople. Unfortunately for the Voidtreckers the cries and calls for help don't come from the safe paths and so they must move through the undergrowth to find the lost and confused townspeople. What's that creaking noise? Is that a shadow? What lurks in the bushes?

Team Two

Back in the village team two must try and help the villagers who are plagued by ghosts. The ghosts roam around unhindered by walls or doors. Sometimes they are just mischievous, blowing out lanterns, knocking books off shelves. Other times they are violent, throwing objects, throwing people, locking people in or out of their houses.

Protecting people against invisible enemies is no easy task. Help the town gather together, set up barricades, try and hide any dangerous objects before they can be used against the townspeople.

Or perhaps try out some traditional ghostbusting techniques. What harm can it do?

Team Three

Of course all this must have been caused by something. It seems some of the towns teenagers had found a strange cave in their ramblings not a week before. It had been full of strange objects, small gems, daggers, ancient books.

All the sort of things that probably should not be taken from their ancient resting place but of course someone had taken something. Maybe. Few of the teenagers are willing to talk and those that do are unwilling to get their friends into trouble.

Investigate, try and convince them to do the right thing. Round up the items that have been taken and return them to the cave. Hopefully that will end this nightmare!

[Team One]

Missing people is definitely the sort of thing that Taichi and Agumon would volunteer for. Someone's wife, husband, son, or daughter could be out there, missing, and the first thing that came to Taichi's mind was "what if it were someone in my one family?"

Considering he was someone whose relatives had been in danger as much as they'd been, he was quick to sign up and partner up with someone to begin the search.

"Looks like we'll have to go off the beaten path," Taichi said with a sigh. "Stay close. That means you too, Agumon."

"Right, Taichi," said the yellow-orange, dinosaur like creature following at his heels.

[Movie Night]

Taichi... was honestly bored. The movie they were showing was the sort of kids stuff he'd left behind years ago, and he couldn't exactly get back into it.

But Agumon? Agumon was living. The Digimon watched with rapt attention, shoveling clawful after clawful of popcorn into his mouth in the process. At his side, Taichi, meanwhile, couldn't keep from visibly yawning.

"Yeah! Alright! Go Voidtrain! Isn't this great, Taichi?!"

Taichi did his best to smile, though he couldn't help but show a hint of fondness. "It sure is, Agumon."

Obviously a missing person was very important and Takato and Guilmon had quickly volunteered for it. But also, Takato was not so secretly thrilled to have the chance to work with Taichi and Agumon on this mission.

He peers into the darkness of the forest with a little worry.

"Its very dark out there. Maybe we should try and leave something to mark the way back?"

Guilmon stays close behind Takato, looking around at everything.

"Guilmon is sure it will be okay! Let's just stick together."

"I think we'll be okay. If we need to, Guilmon and I can probably smell our way back, right big guy?" said Agumon.

Taichi nodded. "Besides... it's not like we have something that we can take all this way," he said. "I don't think they make ropes or cables long enough for that."

Guilmon considers this seriously. "Guilmon isn't sure, but I can try!"

Takato smiles a little sheepishly. "I guess you're right about that. Maybe next time we leave the train I'll remember to bring crayons or paint with me."

Taichi nodded... and then he had an idea.

"I don't think we need all that," he said. "It just occurred to me... Agumon, Guilmon, the two of you can mark trees along the way with your claws, right?"

Agumon blinked, and then nodded excitedly. "Sure can! What about you, Guilmon?"

"Mmm! Guilmon can do that!"

But Takato had some concerns.

"Just be careful not to cut too deep, okay boy? We don't want to actually bring any trees down."

Guilmon nods at this. "Don't worry Takato. Guilmon will be careful."

Taichi nodded. "Alright, if we have that settled, let's get going."

Agumon nodded, and the two immediately set off, motioning for Takato to follow. Agumon took the first tree, making a quick cut across the trunk, to mark that they'd been there.

Takato nods and sets off after them, making sure to keep them in sight. Guilmon quickly follows after them.

"Taichi-san," Takato says after a while. "Have you ever gone looking for people like this before?"

Takato's only experience with this kind of mission had been when they'd gone to the Digital World to find Culumon. And they'd spent so much time getting separated and trying to find each other that Culumon had ended up finding them first.

Taichi blinked at the question, and then let out a quiet laugh.

"Well, it wasn't in the woods," he said, "but I once spent a big part of my summer looking for a Chosen Child that turned out to be my younger sister. And then there was the time Agumon got taken control of by the Kaiser, and when we went to find our partners after the reboot..."

[dreamtamer]

"Oh! I remember that!" And then Takato remembers and instantly claps his hands over his mouth.

"Sorry! I've been trying not to talk about any of that."

But what reboot? He was curious, but it would be really weird to bring that up right now. Right?

Movie Night (can be first meeting or not w/e)

Ken is late to the movie night. Wormmon had been looking forward to it, so he feels somewhat bad about that, and had been trying to slip in and take a seat somewhere unobtrusive....

But he knows that hair, so he makes his way to the extant pair. Wormmon is on his head, the better to have freed up both of his hands for popcorn.

"Taichi-senpai?"

They'd never attended the same school, but at some point Taichi-san's experience as a Chosen Child had altered Ken's honorific of choice. The Chosen Children from 1999 have experienced so much....

...Though it's a little uncanny, wondering whether that's still appropriate in. These circumstances.

"Hm?" Taichi looked up from his seat. "Oh, hey Ken," he said, feeling a little weird. Both from Ken being older than him, and being called "senpai" by someone older than he was.

"Wormmon!" Agumon cried out, with a wave of a claw. "You just missed the best part! Captain Kheli just saved the Voidtrain from crashing!"

"That sounds cool!" When Wormmon is picking the movie, he usually picks something less suspenseful (he gets jittery) and definitely not horror (we don't discuss why he doesn't pick horror). But someone who gets to be named Captain and save people? That's SUPER IMPRESSIVE. Wormmon hopes there are more feats of derring-do to come.

Ken gestures to the space next to Taichi with one of his popcorn containers (he'd taken two small ones instead of one large one, as that makes it easier to fit both food and Wormmon on his lap). "Is this space open?"

And could he, you know.

Their circumstances may be slightly awkward, but the Digimon seem to want to watch the movie together.

Taichi nodded. "Go ahead," he said, scooching over so Ken would have a bit more room to sit down. After nudging Agumon, his Digimon did the same.

Meanwhile, the movie on screen went from one harrowing set piece to the next. Now there seemed to be snakes? On the Voidtrain?

"Thanks." Ken sits. Wormmon carefully climbs down his head and onto his lap - they've gone to movies before and he understands that being on Ken-chan's head makes it harder for anybody behind him to see the movie, and Ken-chan wants everybody to be able to see the movie. Ken-chan is so sweet!

Once he's settled, he looks up at the screen and turns to Agumon.

"Why are there snakes?"

Agumon has been watching this movie for longer. Agumon will have all the answers!

Agumon offered Wormmon some popcorn, saying, "The evil warlock summoned them. He wants them to eat Captain Kheli."

Taichi, meanwhile, rubbed the back of his head. His Digimon was having an easier time following this than he was, so that was even less that he was getting out of the movie. He turned to Ken, to say something, when the awkwardness hit, and he remembered how he'd left a younger version of him to sit, captured in stasis, for months.

He let out a nervous sigh, and decided to do his best to ignore that. "So, um," he began, "how've you been, Ken?"

Ooh, popcorn? Popcorn for WORMMON?! He will accept this gift with the utmost caution, and then munch, to be sure it is not wasted. Plus he wants to find out how Captain Kheli avoids being eaten. Heroic people can do anything, huh?

The heroic people sitting next to the Digimon, however, are confronting a different sort of crisis: an age gap, and one of them still occasionally overthinking smalltalk. How's he been...? In the past several years, or recently....?

Well, the answer's the same either way, isn't it? "I'm well," Ken decides; it still feels good to say that and mean it. "Wormmon is, too. The people on this train are very warm-hearted."

He'd been nervous about working with a new team, but almost everyone accepted their presence, no hesitation. As a result, his expression itself is so warm, you could probably warm your hands on it during a cold winter night.

... That honestly makes Taichi smile a bit. "I see," he said, nodding. "I haven't really settled in yet, but I hope I'll fit in as well as you have."

Meanwhile... gasp! Captain Kheli has been eaten by a giant snake. Agumon's eyes widen in horror, and... shock of shocks, he drops his snacks.

"No! It can't be...!"

Hey.

Hey, Agumon.

There is a platter of snacks just. Sitting in the hall of the train.

Okay, there's also a loop of rope around it, but never mind that, right~? That's nothing, right~?

These snacks are OBVIOUSLY up for grabs!

Obvious danger.

But snacks.

Agumon seems to deliberate on this for several moments, before getting an idea. He slashes at the loop of rope, cutting it, and then dives in to begin munching on the food.

"Whoever you are, you can come out now," he said between mouthfuls. "You aren't gonna catch me."

"What's WITH that? Soooo unfair."

The girl who'd been hiding between carriage couplings slinks into the room, arms crossed and toe tapping. The Digimon on her shoulder is scowling, too...

...But then they both burst into grins at the same time.

"--Is what I bet you thought I'd say!" crows the girl, snapping her fingers. And a spiderweb falls from the ceiling, hoping to pin Agumon in place, snacks and all.

Opossumon sniggers behind a hand (perhaps preemptively). The dressing carriage is a TOTAL mess! It's full of all this gross silky stuff!!! But it has given Airu some incredibly good ideas!

Agumon's eyes widened, as he tried to move... but he was too late. The net came down, with the globs of sticky silk keeping him from moving.

"How dare you!" he called out. "Using food like this?! Snacks are sacred!"

Just then, the back of the car opened... and Taichi stepped through. "Sorry I'm late, Agumon, I-"

Blink. Blink blink.

"Uhm. What's going on here...?"

[cutiecatcher]

"Serves you right, you dummy!"

Opossumon takes this opportunity to point and laugh at Agumon while Airu, unimpressed, turns to face the guy. This dude...Hair's a little familiar, but, whatever. She'd seen him with the Digimon on the train earlier, and that means:

"Hey. You're his Hunter, right?"

She points over her shoulder at the captured Agumon. On second looks, that dinosaur might not quite be up to her standards, after all! Not nearly cute enough. But if its Hunter's here, so much the better. She'll use it as ransom and plunder his collection!

"Got anything else in your Xros Loader?"

To add insult to injury, Opossumon reaches for a Pocky box that was just outside the scope of the net. And eats Pocky. That Agumon cannot reach. In front of him.

Agumon ignored Opossumon, instead waving his arms and focusing on Taichi's presence. "Taichi! You've gotta help me! This stuff is too sticky to cut through!"

Taichi stared, incredulously, at all of it. "How did you even-" he started to say, before he saw the snacks, and let out a heavy sigh. "Never mind. I just figured it out."

He looked to Airu, hands on his hips. "I'm not a Hunter," he said. "And this is my Digimon partner. You're from Taiki's universe, aren't you? I don't have a Xros Loader, and Agumon is my only partner."
