OOC Meme: Random Books!

Hey y'all! So you know how you can order a random book, comic, magazine, or activity book from the shop, but every time you do, Katy and Elle sit down and spin up that literature wholesale?

Well, how about this.

If you, yes, you, reading this at this very moment, want to produce a title and summary for a book, comic, magazine, or activity book yourself, and submit it to this post, we'll add it to the random shop offerings, and inflict your masterpieces upon poor, unsuspecting passengers whenever they hit that Random option! Think we have too many science fiction epics and not enough sordid urban fantasy romance? Too many young adult coming of age stories and not enough detective noir? Time to fix that, by populating an infinite universe of literature.

Look, we need to fill the library somehow.

Here's a handy form:

Note: if you submit a book that's Voidtrain or Voidtrecker related, it is unlikely to be distributed, but feel free to write it for fun.

I swear, this is the only pre-written one I'll do. ;)

Type: Book
Name: A Life of Constant Running
Blurb: Sunny isn't a proper name for a Voidtrain. Sunny doesn't care.
Most trains know what they're for. Sunny does not.
Most trains stay in one world or system their entire lives. Sunny does not.
Most trains, even the ones that travel the void, have people to look after them. Sunny does not.
All of this is fine.
Except it's not.
And Sunny isn't really her name.

Summary: 'Sunny' is a voidtrain that, through some very unfortunate circumstances, is unable - or at least very unwilling - to go home. But just because one system is off-limits to her mind, doesn't mean there aren't lots of other lovely options out there! When you're an empath, and have limited psychic abilities to match, shouldn't the world be your oyster?
Only, wherever Sunny goes, she Sees things. Things that haven't yet happened, or could only have been seen by one person. And wherever she goes, there are people that need help - but who would trust a train without a crew? And so Sunny is stealthy, leaving hints and nudgings in ways more abstract than she would like.
She succeeds in helping more often than she fails, but not by much - at least according to her!

And when one day a poltergeist turns out to be more, turns out to be something from the void that finds her very interesting indeed... there's no place far enough she can run.

I came up with this back in early May. Any other books from me will be properly randomized after this, promise. XD

I had no choice.

Type: book
Name: The Witch Detective
Summary: A ploddingly-written romantic comedy about a girl on her first day of school in a new town. Vampires are involved.

and the P4 protag's reaction

Type: Activity Book
Name: Tessellations!
Summary: Color to fill the prompts! Much less eye-straining than staring at the void. Features many of the titular patterns. True, some of them feature unfamiliar 'animal' shapes, but those are probably the equivalents of cats and dogs, right...?

Comic

Type: Comic (gag, humour)
Name: Uh oh! Ken's gone RIBBIT!
Summary: A three or six-panel comic of gags, it follows the antics of Ken, which are less 'antics' and more 'Ken slightly misplaced a recently set object with their tongue', and similar low-key humour. It's the equivalent of taking out the speech bubbles in a Garfield strip.

It's a packed comic regardless, spanning 300 pages, using a spiral spine. The humour may go completely over your head or tickle a certain spot and give your character a good chuckle.

Type: Book
Name: Recognizance of the Chimp
Summary: Ever wonder what a noir novel would look like if the protagonist were a Chimpanzee, but no one else was?

This is that novel. Over 40 chapters of one superintelligent chimp (and his simianlysimilarly intelligent bonobo girlfriend) getting to the bottom of mysteries in a bustling human-run metropolis. Everything else about the novel is otherwise a staple of the detective noir genre.

Happy hominiding!

Type: Magazine
Name: To Runneth Over - The Multiverse, You, and Tea
Summary: While tea is (perhaps nominally) a constant between worlds, this magazine makes a point of highlighting the differences: from the kinds of leaves used, including those varieties which do not appear to be leaves at all, to the methods of delivery and containment (ever seen tea cups fit for zero-gravity?), even to the sometimes-contentious subject of 'with what?', all of it comes up in this series.

There's over two thousand editions' worth of backlog, to boot!
