First impressions on Taiki?

Roland is 10000% sure there's really more to Taiki than meets the eye. Probably because Taiki gave him a familiar vibe, something he resonates with even though he doesn't know his whole story yet. The first time they met, Taiki was logical enough to stop him from doing something doubtful and there's just something about Taiki's melancholy that intrigues him!! He isn't one to pry, but now that he knows Taiki is in the same line of work as Roland, he's going to jump on that train and talk shop, ask for advice, etc. etc.

TL;CR, he is very much keen on getting to know Taiki, because there's more to the surface!! His gut feeling is telling him this!! also sorry if he tried a super suicidal move and follow the last batch off the train, it almost seemed like it would be worth it man

hello i will give u thoughts but i don't want any in return!! but i love them a lot. a lot a lot.

Tidus not-so-secretly loves just how Old Man Roland gets without needing to take it seriously? He's sure it's not all just a joke when Roland acts like that but that's what makes it perfect. He can be infuriating (okay, just annoying, but he's a young adult and must exaggerate) with it and he's just the exact right kind of adult where it's like wow I did not know I missed this kind of interaction.

While his 'home life' wasn't exactly normal--his guardian growing up was a far more stoic/reserved man who sometimes would let out a chuckle but was not very affectionate--Tidus still had a normal enough life where he'd know Roland's type. And it's nice to just be...immature? Tidus will always be immature/emotional but still. Roland quickly allowed Tidus to be okay with being sassy and relaxed around him.

Nevertheless! He doesn't mind Roland's professional/serious side either, esp since he listens to others and it's also been interesting to learn more from him since being on the train has made Tidus ??? about politics. But only to so far a degree. It's still boring and you can't change his mind.

He thinks Roland will be a positive presence on the train and hopes more people like him can figure something out re: keeping people safe/well-equipped and also other smart useful things. and then tidus can go back to playing more sports.

Roland resonates with Glorfindel a lot, because he really does have a heart of gold and a spirit of serving others without question. He's used to scoping out the best people for the job, and Glorfindel always checks all the boxes so he knows he's an elf who you can totally and absolutely rely on. Beyond that though, Glorfindel has shown Roland nothing but the most genuine kindness since day one and he's not the type of person to forget that kind of warmth. Roland's not the most emotional guy but he's not afraid to back Glorfindel up if he ever needed him as support!
