A-Qing's thoughts on Romeo and LO I guess!

Romeo → he gives off a lot of conflicting signals. He's rich, well-liked, has some kind of magic, and he's way too cheerful for someone who's suffered... except, that's not really true, and she knows it. Someone that cheerful has made a choice to be cheerful, and because she doesn't understand what that choice was or why he made it, she's almost wary of him. She doesn't regret stealing from him exactly, but she does wish she'd just asked outright, because clearly he would've just bought her something if she'd asked.

Little One → She's almost in the same category as pre-disaster Xue Yang. She's clearly smart, capable and totally ruthless. Really useful to have around, and not bad to talk to. Entertaining, even. But absolutely not to be trusted no matter how close they get. Also, shit taste in movies, why does she like violence and bad ends so much. Creepy. A-Qing is very impressed with how she's gotten most of the adults eating out of her hand, though.

Nita->A-Qing: Nita doesn't want to push her too far, but at the same time she's not expecting A-Qing to shrug off dying (again??? Nita doesn't know that part, shush self) just like that. How she handles/thinks of Xue Yang is up to her, though, and Nita respects that.

(Also still feels guilty for not solving things fast enough, not that Nita could have done that thanks to how things fell out.)

Webmind->A-Qing: He's allowed himself to think of her protectively, and also regards what happened with XY (and later Wester) as his own failing, if not the train's failing. Wants her to be able to express herself safely, no matter what else crops up.

OH BOY.

Okay so! The thing that kept A-Qing going immediately after her first No Good Terrible Day on the train was that Xiao Xingchen wasn't here, because that meant that Xue Yang was deprived of the one thing he wanted, and he's too good for this place anyway. Even if she started to cling a little harder to people who offered friendly touches and guidance, and genuinely considered doing something stupid (and kind of pathetic) like ordering his outer robe just so she could use it as a blanket.

And then!! He arrives! And she's been thinking about this for two weeks, what she'd do if he did, because people are so sure that that's possible. And he's isn't sad and lonely, and he can see, and he doesn't know who she is. And that's better, right? Because the lie is wiped clean. It doesn't matter if it makes her feel lonely. The daozhang who told her to leave him, to get out and live her own life, and cried blood in the coffin house, that person isn't here.

Which means, the daozhang who let her keep his purse, who wrapped her up in their only blanket at night, who told her shitty, tragic stories about all the people he'd ever known just because she asked, that person isn't here, either.

Or, is he? Honestly, the moment he patted her on the head, she thought, oh, of course, he's always been like this. How could she have doubted for a second? All it took was telling him that, at some time in his unknown future, they'd be close, and he accepted it just like that.

That's... all it took...
