Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

What to do on a train.

The problem with trains is you are unable to get off them. Whilst hurtling through an ever changing void that’s probably a good thing all told but it can lead to boredom. Or at least it does if you don’t think creatively enough!

What can you do in a standard coach? Well the obvious, most practical use is a comfy place to sit, in relative solitude as long as no one sits too close. Read a book if you’ve the points to buy one, or write in your journal.

But thinking outside the box a standard coach is also a pretty good climbing course, up and down over the rows of seats, there’s even gaps under the seats if you want to add to the challenge. Or you could just play the floor is lava.

Escorting Dralite

Dralite: Small, bat like creatures. As chicks they are about the size of a beach ball, however it soon becomes apparent that they are predominantly made of wings. Unfurled the creature is tiny with massive wings, spanning a meter long each. It is obvious why they need an escort, they cannot yet fly and their movement is severely hampered by their disproportionate wing size. They will happily cling to any friendly creatures.

Adult dralite are about the size of a sheep with large wings and large claws. They are teritorial but not overtly hostile unless provoked.

Dralite have a screech that will floor most creatures, knocking them down disoriented. As chicks their screech will stun, giving them time to escape from danger.

This world has a sizable colony and a group of humans who preserve and look after the huge dralite nests. However it seems like a group of chicks have gone missing, poachers are suspected, probably planning on selling the chicks off world.

Team One Is to track down the missing dralite. There are clues, footprints, other tracks and rumours of an unauthorised camp of humans in the area. Follow the tracks, check out the camp, see if you can find who took the dralite chicks and where they are being kept.

Team Two Is to rescue the chicks by any means necessary. Be that sneaking in and stealing them back or bursting in to challenge the poachers and put an end to their operation once and for all.

Team Three The remaining chicks still need looked after, especially with many of the volunteers helping hunt down the missing ones. They are needy creatures that cannot mover very far on their own so rely on clinging to other species to get around. You might just find yourself with a new dralite hat or cloak clinging to you, trying to get comfy. They shriek whenever they are afraid or don’t get their way and are likely to wrap their wings around your head if things get too scary. Good luck!

Around the Campfire

Once the chicks are back safe and sound it is time for a celebration. A huge BBQ and campfire is set up for a tasty feast. Just remember to share the meat with your new dralite friends or they will get sad and sulky and that could lead to trouble.

There’s lots of food and afterwards the dralite conservationists will tell stories around the fire, inviting the trekkers to do the same. Wanting to know of the different worlds they have been to, the adventures they’ve been on. Or if real life tale telling is not for you then they will settle for a good ghost story.

"You missed a spot," Evie teases from the doorway, in her teams colors of purple polo shirts and matching pants. She's decidedly not a fan of the color on her? But she also rocks it so, points for Evie.

"You also might get that spray can taken away? But I appreciate what you're doing." Even if she has become quite the Auradon Girl, Evie's missed her friends graffiti.

"I wonder if on the next stop we make, whenever that may be, we might get a car for sewing and painting and all?"

Evie! Well if she had known the other VK was there, she might have grabbed more than just the one can of blue paint. Still, she pulled it from her bag, shook it up, then tossed it to her best friend. "Then come and get it yourself," she said with a grin. "Rocking the purple now? What? Do I have to be worried about the competition?"

"You absolutely do," Evie says, catching the can with ease. They've done this routine before. Especially in their old hide-out on the Isle. There was so much surface area to paint, not enough time. So many an afternoon were spent spraying designs, painting over it and going again.

"No. We've all been assigned color coded teams on the train. Each team is responsible for a different chore every month. Purple is in the kitchen for the next couple weeks." So, good for everyone on board. Evie's a damn fine chef.

"You, in the kitchen?" she teased. "So I should be avoiding the fruit then?" Especially the apples.

"I stay away from apples. And all things baking." Remember that time she threw every single element into cupcakes for a bake sale? And remember how the cupcakes made their friends sick and also had a tendency to explode if thrown?

Yeah.

"I have to warn you. There's a girl on board who looks exactly like you but blonde. Her name is Gwen. She's nice, but I think someone said she was a superhero on her world." So, there's that.

"She has 'spider powers' but I haven't the foggiest what that means."

"Ugh, so glad I went back to purple then. Imagine me getting mixed up with a hero? No thanks." But she was totally grinning. "Also, I think I might just go without food for the next week."

"You're impossible, Mal," Evie says, grinning and giving her friend a hug. She still has the blue spray-paint in her hands and hasn't used it yet.

"I'm really happy you're here."

She hugged her back. "Still not fully sure where here is, but so long as you're here... yeah, sure. So am I. Now we just need to figure out how to drag everyone else." Or get home. Whichever place home might be at the moment. Still, it was good to mess around with Evie. "So, shall we get this train car finished before some hero type shows up to try and chase us off?"

"In a moment. I have something of yours. It showed up in a bag with my name on it and a bunch of the purple clothing. Come with me."

She would rather not involve the hero types just yet. She understands Mal's need to be creative. No one understands that more than Evie, but no one else would. With that, she turns and heads back to her sleeper carriage, walking at a pace Mal can follow.

Once they're in the small room she shares with three others, she heads to her bed and pulls Mal's spellbook out from under her pillow.

"I don't know why it showed up with me, but I'm glad it did. I've been able to repurpose and redesign some of your mothers potions to help out on the train instead of hurt people. Don't worry, I didn't write in it. I made my own notes on separate pieces of paper and put them in the book."

She's trying to make it safer for people to use.

Mal hated to leave their art undone, but wasn't letting her friend leave without her, so she followed.

She blinked several times, then took the book and hugged it to herself as the implications sunk in. "Evie... you've been using magic?" she asked, brows up. "Does this mean I'm not going to get given your guilt look if I start having some fun here?" she asked, half teasing, half hoping.

"I've been using to help others. Not myself." So that's a yes, and also a no. It depends on Mal, really. If someone got hurt or Mal started using her magic the way she did in Auradon before Ben got kidnapped and Uma put a spell on him, yeah. She's absolutely getting the guilt face.

"It's an active choice to do it."

"Hey, some of those spells that helped me helped others too." Helped Ben not be embarrassed that he made the wrong choice in dating someone who was failing all her classes and falling asleep all the time because she was staying up too late trying desperatly to NOT fail all her classes while simultaneously trying to learn how to be Lady Mal.
