Welcome to our Test Drive Meme! Here is the place to see how your character might fit the setting, grab some samples and start having fun!

1. Post with your character. I’ve written out some prompts but feel free to make up your own, you have a whole train to play with!

2. Assume they have been around long enough for threads to jump right into the action!

What to do on a train.

The problem with trains is you are unable to get off them. Whilst hurtling through an ever changing void that’s probably a good thing all told but it can lead to boredom. Or at least it does if you don’t think creatively enough!

What can you do in a standard coach? Well the obvious, most practical use is a comfy place to sit, in relative solitude as long as no one sits too close. Read a book if you’ve the points to buy one, or write in your journal.

But thinking outside the box a standard coach is also a pretty good climbing course, up and down over the rows of seats, there’s even gaps under the seats if you want to add to the challenge. Or you could just play the floor is lava.

Escorting Dralite

Dralite: Small, bat like creatures. As chicks they are about the size of a beach ball, however it soon becomes apparent that they are predominantly made of wings. Unfurled the creature is tiny with massive wings, spanning a meter long each. It is obvious why they need an escort, they cannot yet fly and their movement is severely hampered by their disproportionate wing size. They will happily cling to any friendly creatures.

Adult dralite are about the size of a sheep with large wings and large claws. They are teritorial but not overtly hostile unless provoked.

Dralite have a screech that will floor most creatures, knocking them down disoriented. As chicks their screech will stun, giving them time to escape from danger.

This world has a sizable colony and a group of humans who preserve and look after the huge dralite nests. However it seems like a group of chicks have gone missing, poachers are suspected, probably planning on selling the chicks off world.

Team One Is to track down the missing dralite. There are clues, footprints, other tracks and rumours of an unauthorised camp of humans in the area. Follow the tracks, check out the camp, see if you can find who took the dralite chicks and where they are being kept.

Team Two Is to rescue the chicks by any means necessary. Be that sneaking in and stealing them back or bursting in to challenge the poachers and put an end to their operation once and for all.

Team Three The remaining chicks still need looked after, especially with many of the volunteers helping hunt down the missing ones. They are needy creatures that cannot mover very far on their own so rely on clinging to other species to get around. You might just find yourself with a new dralite hat or cloak clinging to you, trying to get comfy. They shriek whenever they are afraid or don’t get their way and are likely to wrap their wings around your head if things get too scary. Good luck!

Around the Campfire

Once the chicks are back safe and sound it is time for a celebration. A huge BBQ and campfire is set up for a tasty feast. Just remember to share the meat with your new dralite friends or they will get sad and sulky and that could lead to trouble.

There’s lots of food and afterwards the dralite conservationists will tell stories around the fire, inviting the trekkers to do the same. Wanting to know of the different worlds they have been to, the adventures they’ve been on. Or if real life tale telling is not for you then they will settle for a good ghost story.

[Dralite: Team 2]
Danny was hiding just outside of the poacher's camp, ducked under some bushes that gave just enough of a shadow to hide the white hair of his ghost self. He couldn't really do anything about his faint glow.

"Right. Sneaking in it is," he mutters to himself. "Get in, get the chicks, and hopefully get out before I find out what kind of local ghost hunters this place has."

[Around the Campfire]
Danny settles in for an entertaining night as he passes his plate down to the dralites who'd been giving him mournful looks all meal.

He quietly snickers through the first ghost story. Did people actually believe these things?

As the story rose to its scariest part the little boy nearby jumped, bringing his hand to his mouth.

"But where did the ghost zombies go after that? They don't live in the woods right?"

He's prepared to fight of course but his big brother isn't here and it makes scary things all the more scary. Not that he's really afraid. Afraid is for scardy cats. But don't mind him as he shuffles a little closer Danny.

Danny was fairly certain that ghost zombies didn't exist. You know, as opposed to ghost unicorns, ghost yeti and ghost christmas turkeys. All of which he'd actually met.

But it was still spooking the kid, so he kind of felt like he should do something.

"You know that was just a story, right? Ghost zombies probably have better things to do than hang out in boring forests."

[babysage]

"I know that!" Of course he did. It's just a story, there's probably no ghost zombies in this forest at all.

But what's that noise?

"They have much better places to be. Like zombie ghost land."

"Um, I don't think that's actually a thing." Mostly because of the zombie part.

[babysage]

"You don't?" Oh. Okay then. He seems to know more than Kotaro about zombie ghosts so he is willing to take his word on it!

"Where do they go then?"

Well since they were talking about something that probably didn't exist...

"I'm guessing they would go wherever they want."

[babysage]

"But not forests right?"

He really hopes they don't run into any zombie ghosts!

"Where would you go, if you were a zombie ghost?"

Joss rolls his eyes as the story reaches its climax. “What nonsense. That’s not even how ghosts work,” he mutters to no one in particular.

"No kidding," Danny muttered back. He'd spent most of the story wondering whether to laugh or be concerned. Anyone who tried that on one of the ghosts back home would have been in for a seriously bad time.

Joscelin snorts, eyeing the (physically) older boy. “Are you a medium, then? Or a witch, perhaps?”

Normal humans can’t see or hear ghosts. Only those with supernatural abilities can. Or the previously human. As a member of the army of the undead, Joss has been talking to ghosts for centuries. (Often the conversations tend to be rather dull and one-sided—most spirits tend to lose their ability to make small talk fairly quickly after death.)

"Uh, none of the above?" He grins with more than a little awkwardness. What kind of question was that?

Joscelin shrugs. “You implied that you know what ghosts are really like. Normal humans can’t see ghosts.”

[schrodingersghost]

"Since when? Back home we've got so many ghosts they have their own segment on the nightly news."

Granted, Amity Park probably did qualify as the most haunted town in America these days.

[dredefulchilde]

Joss snorts. “I suppose I’m still getting my head around all this multiple worlds nonsense. In my, ah, world, a human has to have preternatural abilities to commune with the spirits. Or be dead themselves. The nonhuman races have a rather easier time of it.”

He smirks (is that a hint of fang glinting in the firelight?) and holds out a hand.

“Joss Fitzthomas. And you are...?”

"What, seriously?" Danny winces a little at how the ghosts he knew back home would react to that. They didn't like being ignored.

"Danny Fenton." He reaches out and shakes with a hand that was just a little too cold to the touch.

[dredefulchilde]

“Mmm. Many ghosts go mad. If you were stuck haunting dear old mum and she couldn’t see you for years and years because she was a perfectly boring, regular human and then she popped off to her rest eternal whilst you’re tied to the place you died for the rest of time, I think you’d get a bit bloodthirsty too. I’ve met too many like that. They’re all a bit one track; not very interesting. All anger and nothing else.”

If Joscelin notices how cold Danny’s hand is, he doesn’t mention it. After all, he also runs quite cool. Benefit of being a vampire.

“What’s it like in your world?”

[schrodingersghost]

"Uh, well I'm not sure if you'd call the ghosts sane? But they're not really insane like that?" Danny frowns as he tries to figure out how to explain without giving away too much of his own ghostly nature.

"A lot of ghosts just want to be left alone. But some of the others attack the human world for different reasons." He grins nervously. "Like conquering the world or getting attention or changing back the school menu."

Team 2

[hashtagparkerluck]

"Dunno." Peter says, popping his head out of a nearby tree where he's hanging upside down. "I was thinking we could like... go in through the roof or upstairs window? They'll never expect it-also, you're a ghost dude, you could like... possess the light or something and really freak 'em out."

Re: Team 2

"Actually," Danny says, "I was just going to go through the wall. Most direct route and everything."

Also people tended to laugh at him when he was trying to be spooky. He wasn't good at it.

It might have been the puns.

"Yeah, we could do that." Peter laments thoughtfully, but that sounds so boring and those dralite didn't do anything to deserve this, they gotta pay.

"Or, and hear me out on this-we could go all Paranormal, Insidious, and poltergeist on them."

"Uh, I'm not actually sure what that means?"

Movies in Danny's world tended to be just a little different in name.

"Seriously? You've never seen Paranormal Activity, the Poltergeist? Or Insidious? They're like some really well known horror movies-at least where I'm from. I mean, Paranormal activity's okay but it's mostly just moving sheets around with creepy music." He explains with a shrug, not mentioning that Paranormal activity totally scared him the first time.

Danny points at himself.

"Ghost. We don't really carry televisions around with us." A beat. "Unless we really want to." There were some weird ghosts in the ghost zone, okay. It was perfectly possible there was a tv and movies ghost somewhere out there.

What he didn't say was that even if there was a similar movie with a different movie in his world, all ghost movies had been banned from Fenton Family Movie Nights after the third time a ghost appearing on screen had resulted in his Dad blasting the television with the Fenton Ectobazooka.
