July Information and CR Meme!
I hope everyone had a fun month! Some information for your ongoing journey.
IC Month
This month is the month of Grasshopper. Days can be found here.
The thought of the month is "Find the journey's end in every step."
This means: Any thread that comes to a neat ending during the month of July or August will earn you two team points! Threads can have been started earlier but they need to be neatly wrapped/concluded in those two months.
Threads that fulfil this criteria can be submitted during August AC. You may find it easier to keep a tracking list of threads for easy compiling of bonus AC!
Recipes are here. The key ingredient this month is carrots. All the ingredients can be found in the storeroom and characters are welcome to make other food with them.
This month's chore assignments are:
Red: Cleaning bedrooms and passenger areas
Orange: Meal Preparation
Blue: Laundry
Purple: Cleaning kitchen and bathrooms
The Train.
As the month moves through the month of Grasshopper the train will stop to pick up new passengers.
The first thing they might notice when they re-board are some simple changes. Signs and such throughout the train (except those made by characters) will be in braille as well as written-word. The 'voice' and 'video' buttons on the ICPs will also have braille translations. The corridors throughout the train will have slightly raised pathway indicators for ease of moving around without sight.
They will also find a music carriage!
This is a double carriage. On the bottom floor there is a corridor running along one side, with a door to enter the carriage itself. Up the stairs the carriage fills the whole space.
Downstairs there are a variety of instruments. Mostly smaller instruments (a guitar is the largest instrument there). There are a couple of each type. There is however an entire box of recorders, another box of panpipes and a box of mixed small percussion instruments (symbols, shakers etc). There are music stands, and small stools are stacked along the wall. There are folders of various sheet music as well as some ‘learn to play’ books.
Along the front wall of the carriage there is a series of screens. These are not ICP points but rather music libraries. There are a lot of songs to chose from and these points can work as a jukebox to pipe music into the downstairs of the carriage.
They will also discover a new symbol on their SCA. This will take them to a folder where they can store up to one hundred songs that can be listened to from anywhere.
There are four storage crates near these screens where they will find pairs of earphones which will easily synch to their SCA. Each box holds earphones of each team colour. These can be used both for listening to music and for using as a headpiece for comms on missions.
The music itself is a wide variety of genres, there might be songs they know. There will be many more they do not. Every genre they can think of, any others they would never have even imagined!
Upstairs is a performance space. The aisle goes down the middle of the carriage as usual and there are low backed chairs in pairs on either side. Half way down the carriage a chunk of rows are missing and the floor is raised as a stage. To one side there is a piano. The other half of the carriage has another set of seats facing the stage. It is possible to control the lights in this carriage, and there are basic stage lights as well as curtains that close off both sides of the stage from the audience.
All of this has been updated on the setting. Remember to let me know if your character does anything to alter the setting!

Other Info
~ First up I would like to welcome Elle to the mod team! She has opted not to know any of the Big Secrets TM so she can continue to enjoy the plot as a player but will be helping out with backstage organisation!
~ Such as our new Pets and Companions page. This is to give people an idea of what creatures and animal companions are around on the train, where they might meet them and what they can assume about them.
~ This last month has felt very busy and indeed I have had some feedback that things felt chaotic and confusing.
Obviously the game is 2-1 time and the design is that the game should be chaotic and busy in character (each IC month they lose and gain people twice, spend a week saving a world and then have to deal with some strange happening on the train plus any shenanigans their fellow passengers get up to) but it should allow us to have time to write and deal with everything ooc. OOC we should not be confused or overwhelmed!
To help a little with organisation and to give a more visual way of knowing what is going on we have a new player plot calendar. This is separate to our main calendar and will show events, missions, gatherings and plots that players have in the works!
There are two types of things to go on there. The first are gatherings - parties, film nights, game nights, shows- anything that you want to have as a big mingle log and would naturally involve a lot of people. These don’t need to be approved by the mods (have as many parties as you want!) but do need to be on the calendar so people can chose what they want their characters to take part in, know when things are happening to plan tagging time and that those planning things can work things out to not clash!
Note that things that happen regularly and might just have a log every few months can be shown on character initiatives for people to handwave and assume their character has been showing up!
The second type of player plot is the more serious plotty things that will affect large amounts of people or many parts of the train. These do need a mod to look over them so we can help make sure we have opt outs in place and that they are scheduled in a way that fits with the flow of the game.
This page has also replaced our old player plot suggestion post, so if you have any big event player plot ideas let us know on this new page!
~ Due to a little bit of confusion during AC this month I have clarified AC for new characters on the FAQ.
~ Finally this month marks Voidtreckers' 1st Birthday! Thank you to everyone who has played with us and joined our journey so far! Here is to another year!
